Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a significant global health issue, associated with various microvascular and macrovascular complications that significantly impair patients' quality of lifeas well as healthspan and lifespan. Despite the availability of several anti-diabetic medications with different mechanisms of action, there remains no definite curative treatment. Hence, discovering new efficient complementarytherapies is essential. Natural products have received significant attention due to their advantages in various pathological conditions. Resveratrol is a natural polyphenol that possesses antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, and its efficacy has been previously investigated in several diseases, including DM. Herein, we aimed to provide a holistic view of the signaling pathways and mechanisms of action through which resveratrol exerts its effects against DM and its complications.
