This study examined the effectiveness of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) mixed matrix membranes incorporating UiO66 and UiO66-NH2 metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) for removing varying concentrations of Cu (II) ions from wastewater. The findings indicated that adding UiO66-NH2 to the functionalized UiO (FUiO) membrane enhanced its porosity, pore size, hydrophilicity, and pure water flux. Furthermore, integrating UiO66-NH2 into the PVC matrix led to an impressive Cu (II) ion removal efficiency exceeding 99%. The PVC-FUiO2 membrane also demonstrated about 93.5% reusability after the first cycle. Overall, the results confirmed that the PVC-FUiO2 (Functionalized UiO66) membrane exhibited superior performance in terms of Cu (II) removal efficiency and shorter separation times across various Cu (II) concentrations compared to the unmodified membrane.
