Integrated Economic Empowerment Model for Rural Islamic Barding Schools in West Borneo Indonesia.

This study was conducted in a traditional Islamic boarding school (IBS) located in West Kalimantan. Among the existed boarding schools in the area, Pondok Pesantren Abdussalam was chosen due to its potential. This study adopted qualitative approach, utilized observation, documentation, interview and focus-group discussion (FGD) technique in collecting the data which then being analyzed using action research technique. The originality of the study is as follow: the study in this topic area has not been conducted previously, especially the one which focuses on the integrated economics improvement of IBS in rural area. The study result shows that there have been some economic activities in the institution in spite of its remote location. Additionally, the economic activities have been provided the institution with some benefits. However, the effect of such activities have not been felt fully yet. There have been three reasons in regard with this situation, namely insufficient human resources who have expertise in existed economic sector, limited capital as well as infrastructure factor. We propose the synergetic model to solve these three issues. The model is a cooperative model which can be implemented both with internal institution such as internal sharia micro-finance institution or with external institution such as local government or universities.

PENGARUH PELATIHAN AKUNTANSI SYARIAH, SISTEM INFORMASI AKUNTANSI DAN PENGENDALIAN INTERNAL TERHADAP KINERJA KARYAWAN BMT KABUPATEN KUDUS

<p><em>BMT is a sharia microfinance institution that can reach all levels of society and has the potential to develop into a professional, healthy, and sharia Islamic microfinance institution. However, based on observations in several BMTs domiciled in Kudus, Pati, Jepara and Rembang areas, it still seems that employee performance is poorly demonstrated by marketing that cannot reach the targets set by BMT, even many fictitious sales agents are very detrimental to BMT. This is due to the low internal control in the BMT. In addition, there are still many BMT employees who are professional with accounting so employees need sharia accounting training. This research is a field research with a quantitative approach. The data used are primary and secondary data with survey methods through questionnaires. There are three independent variables in this study, namely (X1) training in Islamic accounting, (X2) accounting information systems, and (X3) internal control. The dependent variable (Y) in this study is employee performance. A sample of 94 respondents, using the purposive sampling method. The results of this study indicate that: 1) sharia accounting training has an effect on employee performance indicated that the PAS direct effect coefficient on KK (path c) in model (1) is 0.12 and significant (<0.02); 2) accounting information system influences employee performance by 0.19; 3) internal control has an effect on employee performance indicated by direct effect coefficient of 0.35.</em><em></em></p>

Comparative Study οn Sustainability of Sharia Microfinance Institutions Through Financial and Social Efficiency

This research analyzes the depth, the breadth, the scope, the length and the worth of the outreach of sustainability with financial and social efficiency. Secondary data was taken from the Baitul Maal wat Tamwil (BMT), which provides lending to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. The research method is a quantitative descriptive research with verification. The data analysis technique is a Partial Least Square with 5% significance level. The calculation of efficiency of the data envelopment analysis and the measurement of change in the total factor productivity is performed with the Malmquist index.

Pemberdayaan Ekonomi Anggota Koperasi Jasa Keuangan Syariah Melalui Produk Pembiayaan di Koperasi Simpan Pinjam dan Pembiayaan Syariah Muamalah Berkah Sejahtera Surabaya

The cooperation of sharia microfinance institutions that have a role and function of the build and develop potential and economic ability members in particular and the society in general to improve the economic and social welfare. The aim of this research is to find out the role of cooperation sharia financial services in economic empowerment of its members. The approach that is used is qualitative approach by case study as a strategy. In the technique of data collection using the techniques of interview directly to the related objects. This research indicated that the cooperative savings and financing sharia convenient Muamalah Berkah Sejahtera Surabaya has a role in the economic empowerment members through financial products by offering the financing products, with various desired model by its members and the most important thing is that these products are using the contract according to the Islamic Law.

Maintaining Employees’ Morality to Improve Internal Control in the Sharia Microfinance Institution

<p>Problems of fraud committed by a company’s internal party are hitherto still problematic to figure out, including in sharia microfinance institutions. This research examines the benefit of maintaining employees’ morality for the improvement of internal control in sharia microfinance institution. The object of this research is Anda <em>BMT</em> (sharia microfinance institution in Indonesia). The research uses a qualitative method. The data were obtained by interviewing the managers and twenty employees, and also through field observations for four months. The result of this research shows that the management needs to improve the employees’ morality as it is the key element to prevent fraud act. The efforts made to improve the employees’ morality are like praying together, joining a program of Islamic study once a week, and targeting all employees to read the Quran at least One Day One Juz (ODOJ). Islamic religious activities should be applied to sharia financial institutions in order to improve the employees’ morality and to diminish the act of fraud. It is because the employees who properly carry out Islamic religious activities may reduce the potency of fraud.</p><p>Masalah kecurangan (fraud) yang dilakukan oleh pihak internal perusahaan masih menjadi masalah yang sulit dipecahkan sampai saat, termasuk di dalamnya adalah lembaga keuangan syariah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi model mengembangkan lingkungan pengendali yang digunakan untuk meningkatkan efektifitas sistem pengendalian internal. Obyek penelitian ini adalah BMT Anda. Metode penelitian menggunakan metode kualitatif. Data dikumpulkan dengan metode wawancara dan pengamatan di lapangan selama 4 bulan. Narasumber penelitian adalah manajer, dan 20 karyawan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa manajemen memiliki komitmen bahwa etika karyawan merupakan elemen kunci untuk menghindari kecurangan. Upaya untuk menjaga etika karyawan, manajemen mewajibkan karyawan untuk melaksanakan salat berjamaah (Dhuhur dan Asar), mengikuti kegiatan pengajian seminggu sekali, dan menargetkan semua karyawan untuk membaca Alquran setidaknya satu hari satu juz (One Day One Juz - ODOJ). Pelaksanaan kegiatan keagamaan Islam harus diterapkan pada lembaga keuangan syariah dalam upaya meningkatkan etika karyawan, selanjutnya akan mengurangi potensi kecurangan. Hal ini dikarenakan karyawan yang melaksanakan kegiatan keagamaan secara benar bisa mengurangi potensi kecurangan.</p>

KONTRIBUSI LEMBAGA KEUANGAN MIKRO SYARIAH TERHADAP PEMBERDAYAAN PEREMPUAN (STUDI KASUS BMT DI KABUPATEN SLEMAN YOGYAKARTA)

     This study aims at exploring the contribution of Sharia Microfinance Institution (Baitul Maal wat Tamwil-BMT) on women empowerment using quantitative as well as qualitative method of analysis. There are five BMTs in Kabupaten Sleman that have been operating more than five years used as the population of study. In more detail, this study takes microentrepreneurs women who have been joining BMT minimal for two years as the samples of study by using Multistage Area Sampling Methods. The dependent variables consist of control over saving and income, ownership, decision-making, self-efficacy, self-esteem, mobility, and participation of activities outside home. The statistical analysis using Mann Whiteney U Test results in two research findings, namely 1) This study shows a significant difference on control over savings and income, decision-making, mobility, and participation of activities outside home between women members of BMTs and non-members. 2) This study shows no significant difference on self-efficacy and self-esteem between women members of BMTs and non-members. Based on research findings, this study recommends several points, namely 1) it is necessary for the next research to increase the minimal number of respondent so that they can represent the real situation. 2) The biggest segments of BMTs are merchants/traders as well as microentrepreneurs women. Therefore, it is important for BMTs to develop more women empowerment oriented programs. 3) The next research should explore the impact of BMTs on gender relation in the family and its implication for women. LKAJIAN ATAS FUNGSI SOSIAL PADA TINDAKAN EKONOMI PELAKU LEMBAGA KEUANGANMIKRO SYARIAH

ABSTRACT This study aims to: 1) determine how actors in sharia microfinance institutions provide the perception toward the social function of the economic action undertaken. 2) determine the form of the social functions performed by the actors in sharia microfinance institutions. This study used a qualitative method with phenomenological approach. The findings of this study are: 1) the perception of the social function by the actors of sharia microfinance institutions respectively: a) perception of social function is as management of zakat, infaq, and alms known in the concept of Baitul Maal. b) the social function as a medium of empowerment of poor communities where the sharia microfinance institutions are capable in producing new entrepreneurs. c) the social function as propaganda/symbols of Islam, Islamic microfinance institutions serve to eradicate the practice of existing usurer in the community. 2) The form of social functions held by sharia microfinance institutions are: a) The distribution of social grants, the distribution of development aid in the form of mosques, procurement assistance of Al-Quran, home renovation, distribution of Zakat funds as well as scholarships to students who cannot afford school. b) Help the poor public capital, capital assistance is intended for the poor, capital assistance is also easy for small traders in accessing financing. c) Optimalization the role of sharia microfinance institutions by opening branches in remote areas which aim to facilitate the public in accessing Sharia financial institutions and also propaganda symbols of Islam in religious activities.

STRATEGI PENGUATAN MICROFINANCE SYARIAH BERBASIS EKONOMI KELEMBAGAAN

The purpose of this study is to obtain an overview of the sharia microfinance issues, sharia microfinance solutions to solve problems, and institutions strategies for strengthening sharia microfinance. The method used in this study is a qualitativeanalysis method using the tool Analytical Network Process (ANP) is used to find the priority of problems, solutions and strategies for improvement of sharia microfinance institutions. The results of studies suggest that the improvement in sharia microfinance institutions have 4 aspects, those are the problems of the human resource aspects (SDI), infrastructure aspects, market aspects, and management aspects. Aspect of the priority issues in the sharia microfinance institutional improvement is a human resources (SDI), while the improvement solution of sharia microfinance institutional is an aspect of human resources(SDI) as well. Then the strategy which becomes a priority in the improvement of sharia microfinance institutions is the optimization of the board of sharia (DPS)

PENGEMBANGAN MODEL REDUKSI RESIKO DAN KALASI KINERJA PEMBIAYAAN MUDHARABAH PADA LEMBAGA KEUANGAN MIKRO SYARI’AH

The development of Islamic financial institutions in Indonesia is very fast eventhough it is a new institution that all products are new in this Muslim-majoritycountry. This study will test the competence variables account syariah officer andrisk of financing in relation to the financing is affecting performance, and will alsotest the variable business ethics and information asymmetry in relation to risk andfinancial performance. Sample of this research is Islamic Microfinance Institutionsin Jember and Bondowoso with respondent managers and leaders Sharia Microfinance Institutions using primary data obtained through questionnaires. This studyused a quantitative approach and the data processing using Partial Least Square(PLS). Final output of this research is the development of arisk reduction model offinancing is an attempte scalation of financing performance.
