EFFORTS TO IMPROVE CREATIVITY AND ECONOMICINDEPENDENCE OF THE COMMUNITY IN LAM ISEK VILLAGE,PEUKAN BADA DISTRICT, ACEH BESAR REGENCY

Community Service (CS) is one of the main pillars of the tridharma of higher education, aiming to apply science and technology to provide direct benefits to society. The implementation of CS in Lam Isek Village, Peukan Bada District, Aceh Besar, focuses on skills training in sewing, making instant ginger powder, and making dragon fruit syrup. This program is designed to enhance the villagers' skills in processing local resources into value-added products to improve their economic independence. The training, involving universities such as Universitas Iskandar Muda, Universitas Serambi Mekkah, and several other institutions, successfully improved participants' abilities in sewing, producing ginger powder, and making dragon fruit syrup. As a result, participants gained new knowledge and the potential to start small home-based businesses, which can increase income and strengthen the local economy. This program has a positive impact on the welfare of the Lam Isek community and can serve as a model for future CS programs.

Mediating role of health literacy in the relationship between social isolation and psychological distress among pre-frail older adults

BACKGROUND Frailty has become a significant public health issue. The recent increase in the number of frail older adults has led to increased attention being paid to psychological care services in communities. The social isolation of pre-frail older adults can impact their psychological distress. AIM To explore the mediating effect of health literacy between social isolation and psychological distress among communitydwelling older adults with pre-frailty. METHODS This descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted with 254 pre-frail older individuals aged 60 years and over. Social isolation, health literacy, and psychological distress were comprehensively measured using the Lubben Social Network Scale-6, 12-item Short-Form Health Literacy Questionnaire, and the Kessler Psychological Distress Scale-10. Data were evaluated using the SPSS 27.0 package program and the PROCESS macro tool. Descriptive statistical analyses, correlation analyses, and bootstrap mediation tests were used to assess associations between the variables. RESULTS The results showed that social isolation had an effect on health literacy among pre-frail older adults (β = 0.240, P < 0.001), social isolation impact on psychological distress pre-frail older adults (β = -0.415, P < 0.001); health literacy was identified effect on psychological distress among pre-frail older persons (β = -0.307, P < 0.001). Health literacy partially mediated the relationship between social isolation and psychological distress among community-dwelling older adults with pre-frailty, with a mediation effect of -0.074, accounting for 17.83% of the total effect. CONCLUSION Health literacy significantly affects the relationship between social isolation and psychological distress among pre-frail older adults. Apart from fostering social connections, improved health literacy measures should be considered.

PROCESSING RICE HUSK WASTE INTO CHARCOAL AS A PLANT GROWING MEDIUM AND ORGANIC FERTILIZER

Cot Puklat Village is a village located in Mukim Melayo where the rice farming profession is the main livelihood for the community. The extensive community rice fields in the village cause husk waste to accumulate after each harvest period, because the utilization of rice husk waste is still very minimal. This is the background for choosing the location of community service activities. This activity aims to socialize to the community about the utilization of rice husk waste into husk charcoal as organic fertilizer and plant media in Cot Puklat Village, Blang Bintang District, Aceh Besar Regency. The community service team (PkM) consists of five lecturers and 10 students majoring in Chemical Engineering, Universitas Serambi Mekkah. This training teaches the community to produce husk fertilizer from rice husk waste in order to provide benefits to the community in increasing the livelihood of the Cot Puklat village community. The community was very enthusiastic in participating in this community service activity. This activity is expected to be able to contribute and play an active role in creating a beautiful, beautiful, and healthy environment, especially in the Cot Puklat Village environment

UTILIZATION OF RICE STRAW WASTE INTO COMPOST FERTILIZER IN GAMPONG COT CUT, KUTA BARO SUB-DISTRICT ACEH BESAR DISTRICT

This Community Service (CS) activity aims to provide information to the community about the utilization of rice straw waste into compost in Gampong Cot Cut, Kuta Baro Sub-district, Aceh Besar District, by utilizing natural resources in the surrounding area so that it can improve the community's economy. Poliven lecturers and students to find out the potential and situation in Gampong Cot Cut Furthermore, planning activities that will be carried out and demonstrated to the community of Gampong Cot Cut. Then the second stage is providing direct explanations to the community about the utilization of rice straw waste in compost fertilizers. The stages of how to make it are: The available rice straw waste is chopped/reduced in size and then mixed with cow dung. Then the EM4 solution is added. The mixture is stirred evenly and tightly closed, and the fermentation process is carried out for 1 month. The CS activity carried out in Gampong Cot Cut, Ingin Jaya Sub-district, Aceh Besar District has been carried out very well and smoothly thanks to the assistance of several parties, namely LPPM Politeknik Indonesia Venezuela, support from the apparatus, and the community of Gampong Cot Cut. This CS activity is useful for developing the potential of the community to be more creative in creating new things, and the community is greatly helped by the demonstration of making rice straw compost.

EDUCATION ON INTRODUCTION TO MEDICINE DOSAGE FORMS FOR CHILDREN AT THE KB-TK LEVEL ATPAUD ALAM CAHAYA HASANAH

The growth and development of early childhood need to be directed at laying the right foundations for growth and development into a whole human being. Knowledge about the form of drug preparation is very much needed so that using a drug can be effective safely, and efficiently and provide optimal effects. One type of drug preparation form that is often used in children (under 6 years of age) is a solid dosage form (powder). This preparation is intended if the child is unable to consume the drug in the form of a tablet, then it will be formulated in the form of a powdered drug preparation (puyer) so that the drug can be consumed properly and with the right indications, but because this drug dosage form has disadvantages, one of which is the bitter taste of the drug left around the mouth causing nausea and vomiting so that it is rarely liked. Introduction to the form of drug dosage needs to be introduced early to change the views of children who believe that drugs are something that is not pleasant to consume because it causes a bitter taste so they do not want to comply with the rules for using drugs. The conclusion of this community service activity provides information, education, and knowledge so that children are more familiar with the form of drug dosage supported by the screening of videos.

SOIL AND WATER RESTORATION THROUGH BIOPORE INFILTRATION IN LANCANG GARAM VILLAGE LHOKSEUMAWE

The city of Lhokseumawe frequently experiences flooding during the rainy season and waterlogging caused by rainwater. One environmentally friendly technology developed to address these issues is the biopore. Biopores are infiltration holes designed to enhance rainwater absorption and process organic waste. This technology offers various benefits, including reducing organic waste, improving soil fertility, preventing flooding, and maintaining groundwater quality. Biopores serve as an alternative solution in urban areas with limited open spaces. This community service enterprise was enforced through socialization and training styles, emphasizing the role of biopores in mitigating the urban environment. The activities involved public outreach and continued assistance in constructing biopores. These efforts aim to increase awareness of the importance of biopores, highlighting their easy, fast, and cost-effective application. The results demonstrate that biopores are an effective and sustainable approach to supporting environmental conservation.

MERANG MUSHROOM CULTIVATION GAMPONG LAMSITEH COT KUTA MALAKA SUB-DISTRICT ACEH BESAR DISTRICT

This community service program was conducted in Lam U Village, Ingin Jaya District, Aceh Besar Regency, to empower local farmers through the cultivation of oyster mushrooms (Pleurotus ostreatus). The program focused on introducing oyster mushroom cultivation as an alternative agricultural activity to support the local economy. Training on the proper techniques for cultivation, including the preparation of substrates, inoculation, and maintenance of optimal growth conditions, was provided to the participants. The program also emphasized the benefits of oyster mushroom cultivation as a sustainable and profitable agricultural practice. The training sessions were interactive, with hands-on demonstrations to ensure effective knowledge transfer. As a result, participants gained valuable skills that can be applied in their farming practices, contributing to enhanced local economic development.

TRAINING ON DURIAN CULTIVATION AND MAINTENANCETHROUGH HYDROCULTURE TECHNIQUES INWARUNGPRING VILLAGE, PEMALANG

Empowering village communities is a strategic effort to increase the capacity ofindividuals or groups so they can be independent and develop local potential.Warungpring Village, which has great potential in durian cultivation, faces challengesin utilizing this potential due to limited community knowledge and skills regardingappropriate cultivation techniques. This research aims to increase the capacity of theWarungpring Village community in cultivating durian through hydroculationtechniques and good maintenance of durian plants. This empowerment program isexpected to help the community utilize durian's potential optimally and increase theirincome. Community service activities were carried out by UIN KKN student K.HAbdurrahman Wahid Pekalongan in Warungpring Village on August 15 2024. Themethod used included training with three stages: planning, implementation andevaluation. Participants are given knowledge about shoot grafting, grafting andhydroculation techniques, as well as practicing durian planting. The evaluation showsthat the availability of supporting technology such as a simple and affordablehydroculation system makes it easier for farmers to apply this technique. The prospectof higher profits from hydroculated durian cultivation attracts farmers' interest intaking part in the outreach. The availability of quality durian seeds that are suitablefor the hydroculation system facilitates the socialization process, but faces challengesin the form of low participation from residents who live far from the activity location.The community empowerment program through training in hydroculating duriancultivation and durian plant maintenance can increase the knowledge and skills of theWarungpring Village community.

The 6 C’s of Imaginative Play in Learning English to Develop Students’ Character

This community service examines the use of imaginative games in English learning to develop student character through the 6C framework: Collaboration, Communication, Content, Critical Thinking, Creative Innovation, and Self-Confidence. This activity was conducted with seventh grade students at Agios Nikolaus Gunungsitoli Christian Private Junior High School using observation sheets, field notes and student worksheets to analyze the impact of imaginative play on language learning outcomes and character building. The findings showed that most students demonstrated strong collaboration and communication skills, participating effectively in group activities and verbal interactions. Comprehension of materials and critical thinking skills also improved, with 87.5% of students (14 out of 16) showing a strong understanding of English learning materials, including grammar and vocabulary. A total of 68.75% of students (11 out of 16) were able to analyze and solve problems effectively, although further development is needed to improve their critical thinking skills. However, creative innovation was less developed, with only half of the participants actively exploring new ideas. Self-confidence saw a significant improvement, with 81.25% of students (13 out of 16) showing high levels of self-confidence. This reflects the effectiveness of the imaginative play method in helping students feel confident using language. In conclusion, the 6C’s imaginative play effectively supports language acquisition and character education, particularly in enhancing communication, collaboration, and confidence, though additional strategies are needed to further improve creativity and critical thinking. This approach offers a holistic and engaging method for integrating character development into English language learning.

A discrete choice experiment to elicit preferences for a chronic disease screening programme in Queensland, Australia: designing the choice sets for the final survey

Background Chronic diseases are a significant health concern in Australia. Understanding community preferences for health screening services is vital for enhancing service delivery. We conducted a study to determine community preferences for health screening services for chronic diseases in Australia using a discrete choice experiment (DCE). This paper aims to present the development of the final DCE design using priors estimated from a survey. Methods A DCE was conducted in Australia. An online survey was administered to a general Australian population over 18. The final attribute list of five attributes with three levels each was designed. A D-efficient design with 30 pair-wise choice tasks was developed using a fractional factorial design. A pre-test was conducted to assess comprehension and understanding of the online DCE survey. The pilot survey aimed to compute priors (i.e. coefficients) associated with attributes. A multinomial logit model was used to analyse the pilot DCE data. Results The survey included 30 choice tasks in three blocks, with 119 participants responding. The best DCE design was selected based on D-error, with a lower D-error indicating the most efficient design. The pilot survey results indicated a strong preference for highly accurate screening tests, with coefficients for 85% and 95% accuracy being positive. Coefficients estimated from the pilot survey were used as priors to design the DCE choice tasks for the main survey. The final DCE design showed a notable improvement in the attribute level overlap compared to the design used for the pilot survey. Conclusions A rigorous approach was taken to develop a DCE survey that could effectively determine the preferences of the community for health screening services. The resulting DCE design consisted of 30 choice tasks presented in pairs and was deemed efficient enough to gather comprehensive information in the final survey.

This program is designed to address challenges such as low media literacy and the spread of hoaxes by equipping da’is with practical skills to create creative, informative, and engaging content. The training materials cover strategies for using digital platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube, producing high-quality content, and techniques for enhancing audience interaction through social media features. As a result, participants are able to develop the ability to create da’wah content that is effective, relevant, and aligned with the needs of the community. This program is expected to serve as a sustainable step in promoting a moderate and peaceful Islam through innovative digital approaches.

The implementation method used in community service activities this time has 5 stages, the first is the observation method, the second is the introduction method, the third is the learning method, the fourth is the assessment method and the fifth is the sustainability method. The result of the service is an educational learning tool in the form of a modified snakes and ladders game that can improve students' grades and enthusiasm for learning and the role of this educational learning is to help students absorb lessons using a game method that can be played individually or in groups, and can be applied in various subjects.

The Psychology of Mindfulness for Pre-Service Teachers Preparation Program

The benefits of mindfulness in adults have been widely researched, and its positive impact on psychology and teacher performance has become a major focus in the field of education. These benefits include stress regulation and reduction, increased compassion, and improved teaching effectiveness. Many studies have highlighted the positive relationship between mindfulness traits and teaching readiness. This study specifically examines the role of prospective teachers' mindfulness traits in their readiness to teach. The theoretical model proposed by Manasia et al. (2019), which includes four key dimensions of teaching, was used to measure the teaching readiness of prospective teachers in three academic programs at the Department of Language Education at a leading state university in Malang, East Java, Indonesia. The Five Facet Mindfulness Questionnaire (FFMQ) was employed to measure the mindfulness traits of students as future teachers. The study found that mindfulness traits were able to predict higher teaching readiness in participants. These findings also form the basis for a community service activity, which involves providing mindfulness psychology training during teaching preparation orientation for students as prospective teachers.

The region of Indonesia, composed mainly of oceans, is not unfamiliar to us as we encounter mangrove plants along the coastlines. Many mangrove ecosystems are damaged and have not been replanted due to a lack of socialization and public awareness of the importance of mangroves for the coastal environment, marine ecosystems, and wildlife around the beach. This community service activity aims to inspire and raise public awareness about the role and function of mangroves. Meanwhile, the method used is a descriptive qualitative method where interviews and field studies are conducted directly, along with the implementation of socialization and a question-and-answer session with the community, the Head of the Mangrove Forest Farmers Group, and the community service team. The mangrove farmers' group enthusiastically received the results of this community service, as did the youth leaders and the community in Kronjo Village. In addition to engaging in direct activities such as replanting mangroves, the community service team also participated in socialization activities to ensure the preservation of mangroves. The community ultimately gained knowledge about the roles and functions of mangroves as a result of this community service activity, and they became more enthusiastic about the preservation of mangrove sustainability for the sake of ecosystem and environmental conservation, as well as effectively addressing coastal erosion in Kronjo Village, which is located on Cangkir Island.

Pemberdayaan Masyarakat dalam Penguatan Kemandirian dan Ekonomi Desa Berbasis Potensi Lokal

The community service program in RT.03 RW.02 Semambung Village, Wonoayu District, Sidoarjo aims to empower the community by strengthening village independence and economy. This community service activity focuses on developing local potential, which has made RT the winner of the Mandiri Sejahtera category. Qualitative descriptive methods are applied by collecting data through interviews, observations, and documentation. The results include ecoenzyme training, teaching in schools, website creation, location mapping, and creation of Business Identification Numbers (NIB) for small businesses. This program shows essential findings related to the active role of village officials and residents in strengthening the local economy. The impact of this program is increasing community capacity in utilizing technology, managing the environment, and developing independent economic businesses.

Stress management is the skill to channel stress to avoid feeling depressed in order to balance your emotions. It was found that early adults in Sijantung Village lacked skills in stress management. Therefore, this community service aims to provide education on stress management. This service is carried out using a community-based educational method with various stages, namely: pre-survey, survey, implementation, and evaluation and closing. The location of the implementation of community service was carried out in Sijantung Village, Rempang, Galang. The result of this community service activity is that it has a significant positive impact. Participants showed a better understanding of the importance of mental health, which was previously often overlooked. They also learned to recognize and manage stress effectively through techniques such as writing positive affirmation sentences..

KOLABORASI MAHASISWA DAN PT PROXI DALAM PENGEMBANGAN KEAHLIAN KEAMANAN JARINGAN UNTUK MENDUKUNG TRANSFORMASI DIGITAL YANG AMAN

This community service activity aims to improve students competence in network security strategies through collaboration with PT Proxi, an internet service provider company. This training focuses on the use of MikroTik devices and Winbox applications for firewall configuration as an effort to improve network security. Simulations are carried out using a simple topology between MikroTik and laptop devices to implement network filtering with certain rules. The results of this activity show that the firewall configuration is able to block access to unwanted sites or IP addresses, increasing protection against cyber threats. Thus, this activity is expected to not only increase student capacity but also provide benefits to the community in supporting a safer and more sustainable digital transformation.

Analisis Kebutuhan Pelatihan di Desa Wisata Darubia, Kabupaten Bulukumba

Analysis of Training Needs in Darubia Tourist Village, Bulukumba Regency. Darubia Tourism Village in Bulukumba Regency, South Sulawesi, has great tourism potential with its natural beauty and rich local culture. However, challenges such as inadequate infrastructure and low awareness of the importance of cleanliness pose obstacles to developing tourism in this village. This report documents community service activities aimed at improving the cleanliness management of homestays and diversifying creative economy products. Through surveys and interviews with the local community, a need for training in homestay cleanliness management, hygiene and sanitation, and local product development was identified. The designed training program includes technical guidance on hygiene standards, sanitation management, and enhancing creativity in craft products. The results of this activity are expected to improve the quality of homestay services and the competitiveness of local products, which in turn will support the sustainable development of tourism in Darubia Village.
