Pengenalan Platform dengan Menggunakan Media Wordwall di SD Inpres Morowa

This service activity aims to improve the quality of learning at SD Inpres Morowa through the use of the wordwall platform. The approach used in this activity is the service learning approach. The aim of this approach is to ensure the transfer of knowledge about wordwalls to students goes well. The research method used is knowledge transfer by involving students as active participants in introductory activities. The results of this research prove that through a service learning approach, students are not only active in carrying out assignments but are also actively involved in various games and quizzes provided by the Wordwall platform. This has a positive impact on increasing student learning motivation and student learning outcomes. Apart from that, with variations in learning methods using Wordwall, students' interest in learning increases. Students show higher motivation to participate in learning and participate actively in class activities.

Peningkatan Motivasi untuk Melanjutkan Pendidikan Melalui Pengabdian Berbasis Service Learning di SMAN 8 Mataram

Quality education is one of the important sustainable development goals in the progress of a region. Statistical data shows that the participation rate of 7-24 years old in Mataram City in higher education is 12.99%. This figure is still far below the national gross participation rate that continues to higher education, which is 31.45%. To increase students' motivation in continuing their education, role models are needed for them to share their experiences. Therefore, this activity aims to support efforts to improve the quality of inclusive and equitable education in Mataram City to ensure lifelong learning opportunities for all students and motivate them to continue to higher education. This service program is carried out with a service learning approach through counseling, training, and mentoring to students at SMAN 8 Mataram. The implementation method includes several stages, namely: preparation of materials, inclusive learning implementation training and introduction of learning technology for students to encourage independent and collaborative learning. The results of this activity show an increase in students' understanding of the concept of inclusive education as well as an increase in student motivation to participate in lifelong learning activities.

The service-learning strategy "MicroMundo" helps to stimulate the practical training of future secondary education teachers

The “MicroMundo” project is an innovative educational initiative designed to address the issue of antibiotic resistance through a collaborative and service-learning approach focused on detection of antibiotic-producing bacteria. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, MicroMundo was adapted by integrating university students enrolled in the “Master’s in Teacher Training for Secondary Education” (SWITAs) which mentored high school students (SWISs) through the laboratory research experience. Evaluation of the project through surveys highlighted strong satisfaction among participants, with 100% of university students valuing the teaching experience and 80% reporting gains in essential skills such as planning and communication. Pre-university students also highly valued this experience, reporting an increase in motivation despite the challenging circumstances, and noting that it sparked their interest in the field of science. This hands-on approach reinforces the need for practical, research-based experiences and emphasizes the importance of raising awareness about critical health challenges, particularly in contexts beyond the scientific field.

Training on Management Control System in Printing Entrepreneurs

This community service activity aimed to improve the management control systems of print entrepreneurs around Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK). The main issue was the lack of understanding and implementation of effective control systems, leading to operational inefficiencies. Using a Service Learning approach, 10 entrepreneurs participated in training led by experts from Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) and USK. The training covered management control concepts and introduced basic technology tools to support business operations. Results showed a 25% increase in participants' understanding of management control systems and an 85% adoption rate of the techniques and technologies introduced. These improvements contributed to better business efficiency and align with Sustainable Development Goal 8, which emphasizes decent work and economic growth. This activity demonstrated that tailored training programs can significantly enhance small business operations and can be replicated for broader impact.

Edukasi Manajemen Nyeri Knee Osteoarthritis (KOA) pada Komunitas Lansia Sidoluhur, Kabupaten Malang

Knee Osteoarthritis (KOA) is a type of rheumatic disease of the knee that is most commonly experienced by the elderly due to metabolic disorders. Some risk factors for KOA include age, obesity, and physical activity. It is important for the community, especially the elderly with the majority of jobs as farmers, to understand KOA pain management. Community service aims to provide education on KOA pain management. This service method uses a Service Learning (SL) approach with 22 participants with indications of KOA. Indicators of service achievement using pre-test and post-test with indicators including definitions, signs and symptoms, risk factors, and rehabilitation. The results of the service showed an increase in knowledge from 17% to 86%. So that KOA pain management education in the Sidoluhur elderly community is significantly able to increase participant knowledge.

Penguatan Karakter Jujur Pada Anak Usia Dini Melalui Dongeng Pinokio

This community service is motivated by the understanding that strengthening the character of honesty during the early stages of child development is crucial, as it represents a golden phase that should be effectively utilized. One of the methods explored is using the story of Pinocchio to reinforce honesty in early childhood. This community service program was conducted in October 2024 at Darul Istiqomah Islamic Kindergarten, Palangka Raya. The program aims to observe how the exploration of the Pinocchio story can serve as a tool to strengthen honesty in children, using the Service Learning (SL) approach. The steps taken include analysis, program planning, activity implementation, reflection and evaluation. The sample used consisted of 26 children from group B. The results indicate that the story of Pinocchio can enchance children’s understanding of the importance of honesty in daily life. The children realize that speaking the truth brings goodness and that honesty is a trait valued by Allah SWT. Furthermore, they understand that lying leads to wrongdoing and sin. Thus, using the story of Pinocchio has proven effective as a means to strengthen honesty in children’s character development, demonstrated through a qualitative (empirical) approach using observation and discussion ad evaluation tools.

Pendampingan Membaca Al-Qur'an Sebelum Belajar Melalui Kegiatan Pengabdian Mahasiswa IAIN Palangka Raya

Strengthening students' spirituality is one of the main goals achieved in Islamic education through various religious activities, which also provide opportunities for MBKM IAIN Palangka Raya students to apply the knowledge gained on campus. In this context, this research focuses on the Al-Qur'an tadarus mentoring program at MAN Palangka Raya City, which aims to increase student participation in reading the Al-Qur'an before learning. Mentoring is carried out by students from the Independent Learning Campus (MBKM) Teaching Assistance program with a Service Learning (SL) approach, which involves students in direct experiences that are beneficial for students. This activity was carried out at MAN Palangka Raya City using the congregational tadarus method. The results of this service show that student participation in tadarus activities increased significantly after mentoring, with students who previously were often late starting to show better discipline and increased awareness of the importance of tadarus as spiritual preparation before studying. This program succeeded in creating a more religious and conducive classroom atmosphere.

From Global to Local: Service-Learning in a Comparative Politics Course

Students enrolled in introductory general education courses in Political Science are often uninterested in and unfamiliar with the subject matter and do not see its relevance to their lives. Hoping to overcome these obstacles, I implemented service-learning into my introductory Comparative Politics course. In order to do this, I partnered with local nonprofits and government agencies working on topics relevant to the course content. Students then selected one of these partners to work with throughout the semester. The goal was for them to not only see how the course subject matter might apply in their own lives but specifically how the global issues we learn about in our course apply in our local area. Students were surveyed at the beginning and end of the semester and wrote multiple reflection papers regarding their experiences. They generally reported high levels of satisfaction with the service-learning approach as well as understanding of the importance of civic and community engagement.

Exploring and Identifying the Potential for Economic Empowerment: A Service in Alue Naga Village

This community service project in Alue Naga Village, Banda Aceh, aimed to explore and identify its economic empowerment potential, focusing on oyster farming and ecotourism. Despite the village’s rich natural resources, such as a preserved mangrove ecosystem and high-quality oysters, these remain underutilized due to limited infrastructure, poor resource management skills, and marketing challenges. The project used a Service-Learning (SL) approach, involving multiple stakeholders including local government, researchers, and community members. Key activities included socialization, education, and training for fishermen, MSMEs, women, and youth. The project delivered results of prior studies and developed sustainable strategies for local economic empowerment. The results showed significant potential for oyster farming and ecotourism development, though improvements in infrastructure and market access are needed. Villagers showed high engagement, particularly in developing processed oyster products like crackers and nuggets. Collaboration between stakeholders enabled a comprehensive approach to economic empowerment, addressing both social and environmental factors. This project offers a replicable model for other coastal villages in Indonesia, demonstrating that strategic planning, community engagement, and multidisciplinary collaboration are essential for sustainable village development. Additionally, the initiative contributed to achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) such as No Poverty, Decent Work and Economic Growth, and Life Below Water, highlighting its long-term benefits for the community.

Pengaruh Teknologi terhadap Minat Baca pada Anak-anak di Desa Citasuk

Education is a deliberate effort to pass on cultural heritage from one generation to the next. It aims to shape the younger generation to be role models for the previous one. The Community Service method, through a Service Learning (SL) approach, involves applying acquired knowledge to assist the community through direct interaction and providing solutions to their problems. The KKM Group 31 students in Desa Citasuk offer a solution to enhance reading literacy among young children in the area by setting up a Reading Corner. This initiative aims to encourage children to develop a love for reading by providing a variety of books and resources. Reading literacy is crucial for young children in their growth and development. Therefore, community service activities like this KKM project enable students to impart knowledge beyond the classroom while gaining practical experience outside of it. Additionally, the Reading Corner motivates children and boosts their literacy skills.

Understanding the social variations of nursing students’service-learning and its effect on development of vocational and social responsibility

Abstract Aim: The study carried on to define the effectiveness of the service-learning approach was realised with 2nd year nursing students of the faculty of health sciences of a state university operating in Turkey during the fall semester of the 2022-2023 academic year (14 weeks). Method: In this study in which a qualitative and quantitative combined method was adopted, 132 students made the sample group of the quantitative research (experimental and control group). For this purpose, “Personal and Social Responsibility Questionnaire and Service-Learning Scale”, validity and reliability of which was proved, was used. In the quantitative research it was aimed to find out if there was a significant difference between the pre and post-test performances of the students participating in the service-learning activities and to compare the results with the students who did not participate in the service-learning activities and to see if the service-learning activities had any contribution to social responsibility skills of the students. The qualitative part of the research was realised with 10 participants who participated in the whole process of the study and a semi-structured questionnaire was used. In the qualitative part of the study, it was aimed to gain profound knowledge through the experiences that participants gained during the service-learning process. Results: The results of the research indicate that the service-learning approach contributed positively to the development of participants' insights into the importance of community work, helped them understand social diversity, helped the development of their social skills and increased sense of responsibility. Conclusion: Service-learning positively affected students’ knowledge of vocational and social responsibility and their self-assessment of knowledge-skill-attitudes. It is recommended that the service-learning approach be used to teach nursing vocational and social responsibility.

Empowering Local Economies: Training on Management and Development of Gampong-Owned Business Entity (BUMG)

The community services activity aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of the management of the Community-Owned Enterprises (BUMG) in Lamteumen Timur Village, Banda Aceh, in managing and developing their businesses. The method used is a service-learning approach, where students and lecturers from Syiah Kuala University collaborate with BUMG in designing and conducting the training. Needs identification is conducted to understand the challenges faced by BUMG. Training materials are developed based on this identification, focusing on BUMG development and management strategies. The training is conducted directly for BUMG managers and local community members, with monitoring and evaluation to ensure effectiveness. The evaluation results show an improvement in the knowledge and skills of the training participants, as well as a positive impact on BUMG management. Successful BUMDes/BUMG best practice examples are also presented as inspiration. This activity is expected to serve as a model for community engagement activities in other regions.

Assistance in Designing Elementary School Learning By Integrating Literacy And Numeracy

In the era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0, the learning process must develop students' literacy and numeracy skills. Teachers need to design learning activities that integrate literacy and numeracy. Training and mentoring for teachers are required to understand the context of literacy and numeracy and how to create learning that incorporates literacy and numeracy. The problems experienced by these partners were used as the basis for the team to provide training and assistance to MINU KH Mukmin Sidoarjo teachers in the form of community service activities. This community assistance uses the Service Learning approach to enhance teachers' capacity in designing learning by integrating literacy and numeracy. The teacher's learning design is then implemented and evaluated. Based on the results of design analysis and observation of learning in the classroom, it can be concluded that teachers have been able to analyze and design learning by integrating literacy and numeracy

A comparative study of virtual and insite engineering service-learning implementations

The Smile project is an engineering service-learning initiative carried out through collaboration between Chouaib Doukkali University in Morocco and Pusan National University in South Korea. Since 2016, this project has been conducted annually for engineering students from both universities. Participants are selected through an oral interview, ensuring representation from different majors, years, and genders. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the project transitioned to an online mode starting from 2020. The objective of this article is to investigate the impact of the service-learning approach on learning and its potential for enhancing engineering education. This study aims to compare the face-to-face and online implementations of the Smile project as examples of this educational approach. The analysis demonstrates a strong positive effect of engineering service-learning as a learning approach, leading to the improvement of engineering students' skills and competencies. Notably, there is minimal difference between the two implementation modes of this learning approach.

Peran Kepemimpinan Dalam Meningkatkan Kualitas Manajemen Bisnis Sekolah Di SMAN 2 Mandailing Natal

The Service Learning approach has been adopted as a method to improve the quality of school business management at SMAN 2 Mandailing Natal. Through Service Learning, steps to identify community needs, project planning, implementation, evaluation and reflective learning have been carried out. With effective collaboration between school stakeholders and the local community, Service Learning projects succeed in providing real benefits to the surrounding community and strengthen students' skills and understanding of business management. As a result, SMAN 2 Mandailing Natal has been able to integrate business management principles into its school operations, including resource management, marketing and business strategy development. Thus, the Service Learning approach has brought positive changes in improving the quality of school business management, while producing a significant impact on local communities and student learning. This means that this article emphasizes that the role of leadership in encouraging Service Learning has been the key to success in developing quality and sustainable school business management.

STUDENT PERSPECTIVE IN ExCoS APPROACH IN ELECTRONIC COURSE IN UNIVERSITI TEKNIKAL MALAYSIA MELAKA (UTeM)

For students studying electronic engineering, having a firm grasp of the foundations of electronic circuits is essential. This prowess includes both academic and practical components, preparing students for more challenging courses by helping them become resilient. Additionally, having a solid understanding of the fundamentals of electronic circuits equips students to apply their learning in courses that include design components, such as Integrated Design Projects (IDP) and Final Year Projects (PSM). Based on these issues, the Experiential with Cooperative and Service Learning (ExCoS) approach has been designed and implemented in Fundamental Electronic courses in semester 1 2023/2024 at Fakulti Kejuruteraan Elektronik & Kejuruteraan Komputer (FKEKK), UTeM. The ExCoS approach integrates experiential, cooperative, and service-learning theory in this course. As a result of this approach, the achievement percentage of Learning Outcome 1 (LO1) in Fundamental Electronics increased from 83% to 93%. Moreover, this method has nurtured students who are more confident, skilled, and critical thikers attributes that contribute to their future success in the professional realm. According to students’s feedback the ExCoS approach enhances student understanding of basic electronic circuit and boost their communication confidence. Besides, participant from SMK Durian Tunggal have benefited from the service-learning program embedded in this approach. Through this program, students have improved their understanding of fundamental circuit concepts and have been successful in rekindling the students' enthusiasm in the science and technology sector, which has recently received less attention.

Education Program for Strengthening Literacy-Numeracy through 10 in 1 Box Media in Elementary School

Education is the provision of knowledge of a particular subject to increase understanding. Numeracy literacy consists of three aspects, namely, counting, numeracy relations, and arithmetic operations. Indonesian students have a low sbility in numeracy literacy. The aim of this community service activity is to analyze the effectiveness of the results of an educational program using 10 in 1 box media with local content to strengthen literacy and numeracy in elementary school students. The service method used is the service learning (SL) approach. The results of the service activities stated that there were differences in literacy learning outcomes before and after the treatment, the average literacy results after the treatment were higher than before the treatment. Sig value. (2-tailed) 0.000 < 0.05, so it can be said that there is a significant difference between before being treated (pretest) and after being treated (posttest). The average n-gain score is 0.7818 > 0.7, meaning the category obtained is a high level of effectiveness. Meanwhile, for the n-gain percentage, the value obtained was 78.18%, so it can be interpreted that the 10 in 1 box educational media for protection culture is effective for enforcement numeracy literacy skills of elementary school student.

Community Partnership Strategies to Facilitate Service-Learning Opportunities in PETE K–12 Schools

University and local K-12 school partnerships are essential for physical education teacher education (PETE) programs, as they provide valuable avenues for practicum and student teaching experiences. In addition, practicums within K-12 schools provide valuable opportunities for PETE students to develop physical activity leadership skills. Thus, it is essential to create sustainable and mutually beneficial university and school partnerships. One way to do so is through service-learning, which focuses on equal partnerships between K-12 schools, the university, and other parties involved (e.g., university students, community members). However, it can be challenging to develop meaningful field and service-learning experiences for pre-service teachers (PST) due to a myriad of reasons (e.g., location, resources). This article discusses strategies for community, K-12 school, and university partnerships using a service-learning approach. Recommendations for developing sustainable partnerships are also provided.

Integrating academic service learning into higher education business curriculum

This paper discusses an Academic Service Learning (ASL) approach as a teaching method to combine meaningful service to the community and core academic requirements for learning accounting. The Academic Service-Learning approach offers an opportunity for the students to enhance what they are learning in the classroom and combine it with the benefit of providing a service to the community. This study shows how service learning offers a unique opportunity to bridge the gap between academic accounting core curriculum requirements and the need of society to have individuals willing to give their time and effort to benefit others in need. This article aims to understand the benefits of High-Impact practices (HIPs) for students in the classroom, particularly, using Academic Service-Learning as a pedagogical tool. The goal is to understand the benefits of using a Service-Learning approach to teach accounting. As part of the course learning requirement, students engaged in a project whereby a not-for-profit organization's income statement was forecasted and evaluated using a vertical analysis. A post-survey was administered, which focused on how the Service-Learning project helped the students connect what they were learning in class with the actual accounting practice meaningfully.

Peningkatan Kesadaran Perilaku Hidup Bersih dan Sehat di Pondok Pesantren Abnaul Amir Kabupaten Gowa

Islamic boarding schools, as Islamic educational institutions in Indonesia, are important in supporting health programs, especially in promoting health and cleanliness in everyday life. This service aims to increase the knowledge and awareness of Islamic boarding school students about PHBS. The service uses the SL (Service Learning) approach through counseling on Clean and Healthy Living Behavior at the Abnaul Amir Islamic boarding school, Kab. Gowa. The results of this service activity show a positive response from Islamic boarding school students, as seen from their activeness during counseling and increased understanding regarding PHBS after the counseling. Abnaul Amir Islamic boarding school students have a good understanding of PHBS, so they are expected to be able to keep themselves and their environment clean and healthy independently.
