Challenges of ICT Tools for Managerial Functions in Private Secondary Schools

The study examined the challenges of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tools for managerial functions among private secondary school administrators in Ilorin metropolis, Kwara State, Nigeria. Both primary and secondary data were used in the paper. Using a standardized questionnaire, the principals of the private secondary schools in the Ilorin Metropolis provided the data. The total population of Private Secondary Schools within Ilorin Metropolis is 141. The entire population was used as a sample for the study. Findings from the study showed that the majority of the respondents strongly disagreed that there is a non-availability of computers in private secondary schools. The respondents disagreed with the unavailability of internet services in the Ilorin metropolis. The majority of the respondents agree that inadequate Information and Communication Technology tools in private secondary schools. The study concluded that fear of technology use among principals, inadequate Information and Communication Technology tools, and power failure are the challenges confronting the effective use of ICT among principals in private secondary schools in the Ilorin metropolis. The paper recommended that the proprietors of private secondary schools in the Ilorin metropolis should procure more Information and Communication Technology tools. Computer literacy experts should be appointed as the principal. The management should introduce solar energy to save the school from the interrupted power supply.

Penerepan Analisis Optical Line Terminal (OLT) Dengan Rasio Spliter dan Pasif Spliter Pada 8 Optical Distribution Point (ODP)

This service aims to analyze the application of Optical Line Terminal (OLT) with splitter and passive splitter ratios at eight Optical Distribution Points (ODP) in the Fiber To The Home (FTTH) network. Through distance measurements, observations, and analysis of the power link budget and rise time budget, this research evaluates the performance of the FTTH network and determines the optimal configuration for the OLT and splitter. The results show that proper OLT settings and splitter ratios can significantly improve optical network performance. These findings provide practical guidance for internet service providers in designing efficient and reliable FTTH networks.

The rise and fall of political comedy on late night TV

ABSTRACT The emergence and demise of political comedy – a form of political humor distinct from political satire – on late night television, can be understood as a commercial response to the media landscape of the time. During the “golden era” of broadcast television, three networks dominated the television landscape and crafted their content to appeal to a mass national audience. This meant avoiding overtly political programming and messaging that favored either side of the political spectrum. But by the early 2000s, the widespread penetration of cable and satellite television, and later, the advent of the Internet and television streaming services meant that content providers could no longer hope to appeal to mass audiences. Thus, they began to target their programming toward smaller, more specific audiences. In this environment, political satire could thrive. In addition, the inclinations of late night talk show hosts and particular political circumstances helped push political comedy off the late night airwaves. Political satire now rules the late night television political humor landscape and will likely do so in the future.

Association of Global Ultraviolet Radiation With the Incidence of Aneurysmal Subarachnoid Hemorrhage

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Inflammation is a key pathomechanism for growth and rupture of intracranial aneurysms. Anti-inflammatory mechanisms may reduce rupture of intracranial aneurysms and the incidence of aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH). Ultraviolet (UV) radiation from sunlight exposure induces systemic anti-inflammatory responses through immunosuppressive mechanisms. We studied whether SAH incidence is associated with UV radiation. METHODS: Global SAH incidence, time trends, and regional differences from 32 countries were linked to UV radiation data from the Tropospheric Emission Monitoring Internet Service. Odds between low vs high UV exposure and SAH incidence were calculated. Correlation analysis was performed using R (R 4.1.2). RESULTS: SAH incidences ranged from 1.3 to 27 per 100 000 patient-years (p-y) and UV index from 1.76 to 11.27. The correlation coefficient (rho) between SAH incidence and UV index was −0.48 (P = .012). SAH incidence was highest in Japan (13.7-27.9 p-y) with an UV index 6.28. UV index was highest in Chile 11.27 with a lower SAH incidence (3.8-4.8 p-y). The lowest UV index 1.76 was seen in Iceland with higher SAH incidence (9.8 p-y).Within Europe, regions with higher UV indices reported lower SAH incidences (Northwest Europe: SAH incidence p-y 8.61/UV index 2.85; Southeast Europe: SAH incidence p-y 7.37/UV index 4.65) with a significant inverse correlation (rho = −0.68, P = .004) and not a significant correlation between non-European countries (rho = −0.43, P = .19). Low exposure of UV radiation in global regions predicted higher than median incidences of SAH with an odds ratio 5.13 (95% CIs 1.02-31.5). CONCLUSION: The incidence of SAH is inversely associated with UV radiation. Further studies should assess the actual UV exposure in relation to SAH incidence and potential biological explanations for the relation we found.

The significance of DR strategies has grown as cloud storage has become the norm for more data. But traditional cloud-centric DR techniques may be expensive, thus less expensive alternatives are being sought. There is persistent concern in the information technology (IT) community about whether or not cloud service providers (CPs) can guarantee data and service continuity in the event of a disaster.

Based on the results of this research, sumer regarding the implementation of agreements, as well as the rights and protection,a obligations between the company and the customers have the clause agreements made by the company. It's just a matter of been stipulated in greements. understanding for both customers and the company to fulfill and implement rights and obligations so as not to cause breach of contract.

<p>Young Farmers' Utilization of Internet for Agricultural Purposes: Evidence from Chiang Mai Province, Thailand</p>

Despite Thailand ranking high among Asia-Pacific countries in The Network Readiness Index 2022 and the increasing Internet access, rural communities in Thailand still face significant barriers to fully utilizing the Internet for agriculture-related activities. This gap in effective digital connection hinders the transfer of crucial information and communication necessary to support and enhance agricultural practices. Hence, this paper’s objective aims to explore utilization of the Internet by young farmers and the factors affecting this utilization. To achieve this, 369 young farmers in Mae Chaem district, Chiang Mai province, were surveyed. Data collected was analyzed using descriptive statistics (e.g., frequency and percentage) and relationships were analyzed using Ordered logistic regression analysis. Research results show that all farmers had Internet access and used it on their smartphones (100%). The participants used smartphone applications related to agriculture, with most utilizing LINE and Facebook to contact their fellow farmers (90.0% and 89.2%, respectively). Most participants search for agricultural information through YouTube (86.2%) and search engines (e.g., Google) (61.3%) to find information on plant and animal varieties and methods for crop planting and raising animals. Seven factors were found to influence Internet utilization for agricultural purposes: age, education, contact with agricultural extension officers, agricultural organization membership, use of home or cable Internet, and use of government-provided Internet were statistically significant in affecting Internet use (p < 0.01). Based on these results following policy recommendations are provided to encourage farmers to use the Internet for agricultural purposes: Relevant government agencies should set directional policies to create more contact channels for farmers, develop and disseminate educational materials online via social media platforms such as Facebook, LINE, and YouTube, and improve the Internet network and services.

Practical use of Agriculture 4.0 digital technologies to meet the EU's strategic goals in Czech agriculture

The implementation of precision technology procedures is declared in EU documents, including the implementation of these technologies in all areas of production, production, trade, including all areas of everyday life of the population. The article deals with the use of IT technologies in activities dealing with land management: i.e. crop production including landscape maintenance. In this context, precision technologies are used in agriculture, crop and livestock production, horticulture, forestry and comprehensive maintenance of the agricultural landscape. With remote sensing, all land areas are monitored, data is stored, and the whole process takes place continuously. The data is displayed in information maps that perfectly map the properties of the monitored area. Today, the development of the information society and specialized internet services of the state administration would not be possible without precise technologies and information portals. These are portals for the public needs of citizens or a specific professional community, and these must be user-friendly, clear, intuitive, visually interesting, trustworthy and complete in content. The article deals with a detailed analysis of the Czech Farmer's Portal from multiple angles, including state-of-the-art tools such as the AMS system (AMS, 2023). This is a new way of monitoring agricultural areas using a satellite system. On the basis of the analysed services, deficiencies are identified and suggestions for improvement are presented.

Preliminary Study To Assess Consumer Conception On Online Vs Offline Purchase Of Medicines

Background: The use of the Internet for buying and selling of medicines has increased over several years. Purchase of medicines from E-pharmacies has also grown exponentially with the increase in the usage of the internet for buying products. Online purchase of medicines comes with several advantages such as time-saving, variety of offers and quick home delivery but there are several disadvantages associated with it. Hence, to study the pros and cons of purchasing medicines online, this study was conducted. Methods: The main objective of this study is to assess the behaviour of consumers on online and offline purchase of medicines and what are the several factors that motivate them to purchase medicines online or vice-versa. For collecting responses, a questionnaire was prepared and distributed to the study participants through google forms. The questionnaire was divided into two sections including age and gender. Results: A total of 100 responses were obtained, out of which 50% of respondents opted for offline purchase of medicines from nearby pharmacies. In conclusion, it was observed that the majority of the population prefers the offline mode of purchase when it comes to the purchase of medicines and other healthcare products, though there are various major advancements in technology and variety of internet services and easy availability of e-medicines. Conclusion: It reflects a more health-conscious and traditional mindset and outlook of the people particularly while deciding about the mode of purchasing medicines- online or offline because people lack trust when it comes to online purchase of medicines.

Stakeholder Engagement in Instagram-Based Complaint Handling Indihome Service PT Telkom Yogyakarta Region

This research aims to analyze Telkom Indonesia's engagement strategies with its stakeholders in Yogyakarta during a surge of complaints regarding their Indihome product on Instagram (@indihome.yogya). As a dominant internet service provider, Telkom Indonesia, through its Indihome product, faces a high volume of customer complaints, further amplified by the prevalence of social media platforms like Instagram, which provide a direct channel for customers to air their grievances. The study employs the Stakeholder Circle Model to examine the steps undertaken by Telkom Witel Yogyakarta in addressing customer complaints. A qualitative descriptive approach is adopted to gain a comprehensive understanding of the phenomenon under investigation. Data is gathered through interviews with key informants and a thorough examination of relevant documentation. The findings reveal that Telkom Witel Yogyakarta implements a five-stage stakeholder engagement process: (1) Identification: Creating a list of stakeholders; (2) Prioritization: Developing a stakeholder assessment scale; (3) Visualization: Conducting stakeholder mapping and dividing stakeholders into four quadrants; (4) Engagement: Implementing appropriate communication strategies tailored to each stakeholder category; (5) Monitoring: Evaluating the effectiveness of engagement efforts and ensuring alignment with expectations. This research contributes to the understanding of stakeholder engagement in complain handling from customers on social media platforms. The five-stage stakeholder engagement process offers a valuable framework for organizations seeking to improve their stakeholder relationships and effectively address customer concerns through social media channels.

Assessing the Impact of ICT Infrastructure on Card-Based Non-Cash Transaction Volumes in Indonesia

This research aims to analyze the influence of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructure on the volume of card-based non-cash financial transactions in Indonesia from 2019 to 2021. This is a quantitative study. Data analysis in this research employs multiple regression with a fixed-effect model. The study utilizes panel data of longitudinal type, consisting of data on Base Transceiver Stations (BTS), Villages/Subdistricts Served by Internet, Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs), ATM/debit cards and credit cards, and non-cash financial transaction volume based on cards across 33 provinces in Indonesia as cross-sectional data, spanning a period of three (3) years from 2019 to 2021 as time-series data. Secondary data for this research were obtained from the Bank of Indonesia, the Central Bureau of Statistics, and the Financial Services Authority. Base Transceiver Station (BTS), Villages/Kelurahan Served by Internet, Automated Teller Machines (ATM), ATM/Debit Cards, and Credit Cards simultaneously have a significant influence on the volume of card-based non-cash finance. Automated Teller Machines (ATMs), ATM/debit cards, and credit cards have a significant influence on the volume of card-based non-cash financial transactions. The research findings are that although ATM and card services significantly increase transaction volume, BTS and internet services in villages/districts do not show a significant impact.

COMPARATIVE LEGAL ANALYSIS OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF LEGISLATION ON COUNTERING CYBERBULLYING AMONG SCHOOL-AGE CHILDREN IN MODERN JURISDICTIONS

The article is devoted to the prevention and counteraction of such a modern phenomenon as cyberbullying among school-age children, the search for measures to prevent and combat it. The study substantiates the conditions conducive to the transformation of traditional bullying into a virtual one. Cyberbullying is often interpreted as an electronic form of traditional bowling, which is accompanied by features of virtual communication: anonymity, lack of empathy, uncontrollability and prolonged storage of traumatic information. To solve this problem, psychological factors are highlighted, and emphasis is also placed on the need for legal regulation of countering cyberbullying, in particular, establishing responsibility. To effectively solve this problem, it is extremely important to actively highlight and consolidate the concepts of bullying and cyberbullying at the legislative level. Specifically, it is necessary to adopt a law aimed at combating cyberbullying in the school environment, including measures of responsibility for children, parents and, if necessary, teachers. It is also important to establish competent authorities that will monitor cases of cyberbullying, analyze the most common methods and interact with Internet service providers for joint efforts to eliminate this problem. The results obtained serve as the basis for formulating recommendations on improving legislative approaches to combating cyberbullying in modern society. As a necessary measure, it is proposed to establish such responsibility not for children, but for parents, and in some cases for teachers. It is necessary to introduce new institutions, develop cultural values among school students, focusing on preventing cyberbullying. It is pointed out that there is a need for appropriate development of juvenile justice, because for older students with a well-formed psyche, who, due to their age, can already bear legal responsibility, it is necessary to establish a certain punishment. At the same time, the focus of attention does not necessarily focus on administrative and criminal liability measures, it is important to concentrate efforts on preventive and educational measures.

Implementation of Load Balancing With PCC Method And Failover Using Mikrotik At PT. Maxpower Indonesia

In connecting to a single Internet Service Provider (ISP), one must consider the possibility of network congestion due to high traffic as well as potential disruptions in the internet connection. Load Balancing Per Connection Classifier (PCC) is a method used in combining two ISP services. In supporting day-to-day operational activities, a reliable internet connection is crucial for any company. Therefore, it is also necessary to have an internet connection that remains standby without interruption when there are disruptions in the ISP. This paper discusses the merging of two internet services and the addition of failover techniques. In the first test, a load test was carried out with 1 ISP service. The second test was carried out using two ISP services with the PCC method in high internet traffic conditions. By using the ISP and PCC method, traffic can be reduced and charged to both ISPs so that the network is not burdened by just one ISP. In the second test, it can also be proven that the use of two ISP services with failover techniques is much better when a problem occurs at one of the ISPs, thereby reducing the company's operational impact.

Information system of support of economic decisions on the development of the Internet provider network

The paper suggests and confirms the hypothesis about the dependence of the price of internet service provider tariffs on the main economic and demographic determinants, and also defines the list of these determinants. An economic-mathematical model for optimizing the distribution of the budget for the expansion of the Internet provider's network between the execution of connection requests for separate service lines and tariffs has been developed. One of the key elements of the activity of Internet providers is the solution of the "last mile" problem, which consists in providing a communication service between the end user and the provider's Internet access node. Taking into account the orientation of such enterprises to the maximization of their own profit, this problem should be considered in the technical and economic dimension. Solving this problem requires a multidimensional approach that takes into account technology, economics and geography, as well as the significant investment required to expand network coverage and meet the demands of a distributed customer base. Internet providers should take into account the negative impact of possible network congestion, non-linear pricing, as well as consumer demand when optimizing pricing strategies and network development strategies. The developed model was applied to historical data on the activity of the Internet provider. The proposed approaches are combined into a single information system to support economic decision-making for the development of network of Internet providers, which contributes to the implementation of the developed model in practice and allows to increase the efficiency of the production activities of such enterprises. The paper put forward and confirmed the hypothesis about the dependence of prices for fixed Internet connection services on the dollar exchange rate, the cost of connecting to the trunk node, and the population. Approaches to economic decision-making in the management of the Internet provider's activities were further developed, namely, an economic-mathematical model was developed and tested to optimize the allocation of the budget for the expansion of the Internet provider's network between the satisfaction of applications of potential subscribers for connection in the section of individual tariffs of the provider's current tariff grid. As a result of the test of the developed economic-mathematical optimization model on the historical data of the enterprise, the possibility of improving the expected profit relative to the basic plan by 18% was established.

Does the digital economy improve female employment? A cross-country panel data analysis

The digital economy has had an impact on the female employment rate over time. Currently, the researchers are more interested in investigating the impacts of the digital economy by focusing on its various aspects of female employment. The current study is motivated by this renewed interest to investigate the impact of the digital economy on female employment rates in Asian Developing Countries from 1990 to 2021. The digital economy is measured by several indicators such as fixed telephone subscriptions, fixed broadband subscriptions, mobile phone subscriptions, secure internet servers, and internet users. The Panel Autoregressive Distributed Lag (PARDL) model is used for analysis that reveals a positive relationship between female employment rates and the digital economy in both the short and long run. The control variables/factors, Education and GDP, also showed positive relationships with female employment. We suggest that governments prioritize funding for digital infrastructure and encourage fair access to technology, especially for women, based on our study. Furthermore, the positive effects of the digital economy on female employment can be strengthened through focused policy interventions, such as offering financial incentives to companies that hire and train women in digital skills. By utilizing these tactics, policymakers can guarantee that women are prepared to take advantage of the chances brought about by the quickly changing digital landscape, promoting gender equality and inclusive economic growth throughout Asian developing nations.

Energy consumption of data transfer: Intensity indicators versus absolute estimates

AbstractThe assessment of energy consumption of data traffic for Internet services usually relies on energy intensity figures (in Wh/GB). In this paper, we argue against using these indicators for evaluating the evolution of energy consumption of data transmission induced by changes in Internet usage. We describe a model that estimates global impacts for different scenarios of Internet usages and technological hypothesises, and show that it can overcome some limitations of intensity indicators. We experiment the model on four use‐cases: basic usage, video streaming, large downloads, and video conferencing. Results show that increasing the resolution of videos does increase the total energy consumption while misleadingly decreasing the power intensity indicator at the same time. In other words, a more efficient network does not necessarily mean less energy consumption.
