Objective To explore the application effect of bedside Ipad health education combined with health diary in the inpatients with typeⅡ diabetes. Methods By convenience sampling, 56 patients admitted in Ward I, Department of Endocrinology, Chengdu First People's Hospital from April to September, 2018 were enrolled into the group, and 60 patients in Ward II into the observation group. The group received the conventional diagnostic and therapeutic nursing and bedside Ipad health education, on the basis of which, the observation group was instructed by nurses to keep health diaries. On the first day and 14th day upon admission, Diabetes Mellitus Self-Management Efficacy Scale (DMSES) , the Summary of Diabetes Self-care Activities (SDSCA) were used to measure and compare the patients' self-management efficacy and behaviors. Results On the first day of hospitalization, there was no statistical difference between the two groups in the scores of DMSES and SDSCA (P>0.05) . On the 14th day, the scores of the 3 dimensions: control , exercise and glucose monitor of the observation group and the total score of DMSES were both higher than the group with statistically significances (P<0.05) ; the scores of 4 dimensions: appropriate diet , exercise, glucose monitor and care as well as the total score of SDSCA in the observation group were all higher than the group with statistical significances (P<0.05) . Conclusions The method of bedside iPad health education combined with health diary can help hospitalized patients with typeⅡ diabetes develop reasonable diet, regular exercise, blood sugar monitoring, foot and other life and behavior patterns consistent with health management goals, and enhance patients' self-confidence and ability to participate in their own health management and improve the efficacy of self-health management.
