Analisis Perbedaan Self-Disclosure di Media Sosial pada Remaja ditinjau Berdasarkan Pola Asuh

The study was aimed to analyze the disparity of self-disclosure of adolescence on social media viewed based on pattern of care. The study used quantitative approach with the type of study was comparative study. The sampling technique deployed in this study was purposive sampling technique, with the total samples were 351 samples. The research instrument consisted of two scales, they were self-disclosure scale and pattern of care scale. The result of the study showed that there was a significant difference between self-disclosure and pattern of care in adolescence. In the T-test calculation using Equal Variance Assumed (assuming the same variance, the analysis results were obtained with a significance value (Sig.) of 0.000, which means it is smaller than 0.05, so it can be concluded that Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. Thus, it can be concluded that there is a difference in self-disclosure on social media in adolescents as viewed based on parenting patterns

The Role of Emotional Creativity and Self-Disclosure in Post-traumatic Growth Among Healthcare Workers After the COVID-19 Pandemic

Previous studies have shown that healthcare workers experienced post-traumatic growth (PTG) during the COVID-19 pandemic. Various factors, such as social support, coping strategies, and deliberate rumination, were also reported to positively influence healthcare workers’ PTG. This study examined the role of emotional creativity and self-disclosure in the PTG of healthcare workers handling COVID-19 patients. The study involved 186 healthcare workers recruited through convenience sampling. The Post-Traumatic Growth Inventory - Expanded (PTGI-X), Revised Self-Disclosure Scale (RSDS), and Emotional Creativity Inventory (ECI) were used to collect data in this study. Based on multiple regression analyses, the model consisting of emotional creativity and self-disclosure was able to predict PTG (F = 15.54; p < 0.001). Partially, the results indicated that emotional creativity significantly predicted PTG (β= 0.337; 95% CI = 0.198 - 0.477), whereas self-disclosure did not (β = 0.112; 95% CI= -0.027 - 0.251). Additional analyses showed that healthcare professionals with more than 20 years of working experience had significantly higher PTG than those with 11 – 20 years of working experience. This study implies that flexibility in expressing emotions is a more preferred and impactful psychological resource in helping healthcare workers face similar traumatic events in the future.

The Relationship Between Self-Disclosure and Anonymity in Online Social Media Users

The more widespread the use of social media, the easier it is for individuals to disclose themselves (self disclosure). One of the factors that influence self disclosure is personality which plays a role in shaping a person's behavior on social media, including behavior to present themselves anonymously. These factors cause the phenomenon of anonymity in social media. This study aims to determine the correlation between self disclosure and anonymity in online social media users. This study uses quantitative methods with correlation techniques. The population of this study are active users of anonymous accounts on social media. The sampling technique for this study is incidental sampling. The amount of samples obtained was 184 people. The self disclosure scale uses the Revised Self-Disclosure Scale (RSDS) consists of 14 items adopted from Nugroho (2018) based on the theory developed by Leung (2002). The anonymity scale consists of 14 items adopted from Chairunnisa (2018) based on the scale compiled by Lee et al. (2013). The reliability coefficient of the self disclosure scale is 0.808 and the reliability coefficient of the anonymity scale is 0.855. Hypothesis testing was carried out with the pearson product moment correlation test and resulted a significance value of 0.727. This means that there is no relationship between self disclosure and anonymity in online social media users. Further research is suggested to examine more specifically based on one type of social media

The Effectiveness of Role-Playing Training on Emotional Self-disclosure and Sense of Coherence in Students with Hearing Loss

Background: Hearing loss can lead to various complications, including difficulties in language and speech development, as well as cognitive, psychological, social, occupational, educational, and learning impairments. Objectives: This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of role-playing training on emotional self-disclosure (ESDS) and sense of coherence in students with hearing loss. Methods: The study was a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest approach and a control group. The statistical population included all students with hearing loss in the first and second high schools for the exceptional in Ahvaz City in 2023. A sample of 30 individuals was selected using the convenience sampling method and randomly assigned to either the experimental or control group (15 participants each). Students completed the Emotional Self-disclosure Scale and Sense of Coherence Questionnaire in both pretest and posttest phases. The experimental group received role-playing training in ten 90-minute sessions. Data were analyzed using analysis of covariance. Results: Role-playing training had a significant positive effect on both emotional self-disclosure and sense of coherence in students with hearing loss (P = 0.001). The post-test results showed that the experimental group scored significantly higher than the control group in emotional self-disclosure (147.73 ± 15.11 vs. 102.60 ± 16.18) and sense of coherence (97.40 ± 13.86 vs. 67.80 ± 8.14) (P = 0.001). Conclusions: Role-playing training can be a valuable intervention for enhancing the emotional well-being of students with hearing loss. This study contributes to the growing body of knowledge on interventions aimed at improving emotional well-being in students with hearing loss. Role-playing training emerges as a promising approach with the potential for implementation in educational and therapeutic settings.

Development of the Self-Assessment Self-Disclosure Questionnaire to Examine the Association between Self-Disclosure and Frailty among Community-Dwelling Older Adults in Japan.

Self-disclosure is the attitude of communicating one's experiences and condition to others and is an indicator of mental health and an open personality. Frailty, characterized by reduced physical and psychological resistance, predicts the incidence of dependency and mortality. Although low self-disclosure may be associated with frailty, there is no scale to measure older adults' self-disclosure. This cross-sectional study assessed the validity of a self-assessment self-disclosure questionnaire and examined the association between the content of self-disclosures to friends and acquaintances and frailty among community-dwelling older adults. A total of 237 adults aged ≥65 in Japan were surveyed using a mailed self-administered questionnaire in 2021. The self-disclosure scale consisted of 10 items and showed adequate validity. Participants were classified into a robust group (n = 117, women 57.3%) and a frailty group (n = 120, women 73.3%) using the Kihon Checklist. After adjusting for covariates, multivariate-adjusted logistic regression models revealed frailty was associated with lower self-disclosure of recent positive events, motivation and strengths (indicating strong points) in life, relationships with family and relatives, experiences of work and social activities, and financial status. The proposed questionnaire must still be further tested in other populations, but our initial results may contribute to preventing frailty and improving mental health among community-dwelling older adults.

Development of the Need Satisfaction Perceived Online Scale

This study aimed to develop the Need Satisfaction Perceived Online Scale to measure individuals' satisfaction of perceived basic psychological needs in online environments. For the scale adaptation study, a sample of 251 university students (184 female, 67 male) was used. The exploratory factor analysis of the scale development study involved 346 university students (277 female, 69 male). The confirmatory factor analysis of the same study included 289 university students (227 female, 69 male). Data collection instruments included “The Need Satisfaction Perceived Online Scale”, “The Basic Needs Satisfaction Scale of College Students”, “The Self-Disclosure Scale” and “personal information form”. Adolescents experience complex problems not only because of internal influences within themselves, but also from the influence of opportunities and support from adults, in this case parents. Fathers play a very important role in building a child's role in their environment and in determining the child's attachment status. By forming a good attachment between father and child, it is possible for teenage girls to be able to carry out self-disclosure. This study aims to determine the relationship between father attachment and self-disclosure in adolescent girls. The sample in this study consisted of 292 subjects aged 15-22 years. Data collection was carried out using a Likert scale, namely attachment scale and self-disclosure scales. Test the hypothesis using Spearman Rho correlation analysis with the help of SPSS 24. The results show that There is a significant relationship between father attachment and self-disclosure in adolescent girls, with a significance value of 0.000 <0.05. This means that the higher the attachment, the higher the self-disclosure in adolescent girls. Influence of Big Five Personality Traits on Self-Disclosure in Early Adulthood Instagram Social Media Users

Self-disclosure is the ability of individuals to voluntarily disclose information about themselves to others that is personal. This will affect both him and others, if done excessively. From the influence of self-disclosure factors based on personality type can be seen and focus on the personality of the big five personality in Makassar State University students. This study involved students of Makassar State University (N=381). The sampling technique used is cluster random sampling. The measuring instruments used are the Big Five Inventory scale (BFI) adaptation scale from Ramdhani (2012) and the self-disclosure scale from Tamaraya research (2020). Data analysis used in this study is a multiple linear regression technique. The results showed that there is not significant influence with the four big five personality, namely, Openess to experience, conscientiousness, extraversion, and agreeableness to self-disclosure. While personality neuroticism has a significant effect on self-disclosure. This research has implications in the field of Social Psychology and is useful for students to be able to determine the value of attitudes, emotions, and values that affect individuals on personality that are carried out towards self-disclosure.

Analysis of current situation and influencing factors of marital adjustment in patients with Crohn's disease and their spouses.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the marital adjustment of patients with Crohn's disease and their spouses, and to analyze its influencing factors. It lays the investigation foundation for the follow-up binary study of Crohn's disease patients and their spouses. Using convenience sampling, 177 pairs of patients and their spouses from a tertiary hospital in Nanjing, China were selected. With face-to-face electronic questionnaires to survey the patient and spouse, the contents include the Lock-Wollance Marriage Adjustment Test, Subjective Well-Being Scale for Chinese Citizens, Couple Support Questionnaire, and Distress Self-Disclosure Scale. The marital adjustment score of patients was (99.03 ± 24.25), and the marital adjustment score of spouses was (99.61 ± 25.39). The proportions of patients with marital disorders and their spouses with marital disorders were 52.5% and 46.9%, respectively. Multiple linear regression showed that the spouse's age, family monthly income, time of diagnosis of Crohn's, distress self-disclosure, marital support, and subjective well-being were important factors influencing the marital adjustment of patients. Self-disclosure of spousal distress, marital support, age, and subjective well-being were important factors that influenced spouses' marital adjustment. Most couples with Crohn's disease have marital disorders, and their marital adjustment affects each other. However, the assessment results of one partner should not be limited to replacing those of the couple. In clinical practice, patient age, monthly family income, self-disclosure of distress, marital support, and subjective well-being should be considered. Spouses should be encouraged to participate in patient care and patient-spouse interventions should be implemented as a whole to improve marital stability.

Exploring Self-Disclosure and Its Impact on Psychological Well-Being among Homosexuals (Gay)

Progress over time has encouraged the gay community to be more open about their sexual identity. However, there is still stigma and societal disacceptance because they are considered deviant from religion, law and culture. This research aims to determine the relationship between self-disclosure and the psychological well-being of homosexuals (gay) in Central Java. The method used is quantitative with a correlational design. A total of 237 homosexuals (gay) in Central Java were used as research participants using incidental sampling techniques. Research measurements used the Revised Self-Disclosure Scale (α = .92) and the Ryff Psychological Well-Being Scale (α = .543-.828). The research data analysis method uses the product-moment correlation test from Karl Pearson. The research results show a significant, but not strong, positive relationship between self-disclosure and psychological well-being (r = .147 and sig. = .012). This indicates that self-disclosure is one of the factors related to increasing the psychological well-being of homosexuals (gays) in Central Java. The implication of this research is the need for self-disclosure for homosexuals (Gay) to vent all the feelings and inner pressure they experience and make them feel more relieved to improve their psychological well-being to live their lives well for the sake of past goals. Future research should be able to develop research by looking for other factors related to self-disclosure and psychological well-being.

EXPLORATION OF SELF DISCLOSURE: A PSYCHOSOCIAL BARRIER OF MERANTAU STUDENTS

Self Disclosure is one of the social skills that must be possessed, especially for overseas students. These social skills will give birth to social interactions that will create good psychosocial conditions in social relationships. This study aims to describe the level of self-disclosure of overseas students in the Guidance and Counseling study program at the Bukittinggi State Islamic University. This type of research includes a quantitative descriptive research instrument, namely the self-disclosure scale. The population in the study were guidance and counseling students from outside West Sumatra, totaling 43 people. Sampling was taken using a non-probability sampling technique with a purposive sampling technique. The results of the study revealed that the self-disclosure level of overseas students at Bukittinggi State Islamic University was in the moderate category with 65.11% while the highest self-disclosure aspect was in the aspect of cultural perception. Research findings based on gender reveal that female students are more open than male students, namely in the aspects of perception of culture, perception of gender, perception of listeners, and perception of topics while men are more open in aspects of self-knowledge.

Intimate Introverts: Influence of Introversion on Self-Disclosure and Emotional Intimacy in Close Friendships

Social isolation is identified as a leading cause of loneliness, contributing to negative physical and mental health outcomes. Friendships developed or maintained in emerging adulthood can set the stage for social support and emotional well-being that individuals experience throughout their lifespan. Understanding the social and psychological mechanisms related to developing and maintaining these social connections may provide insight into solutions for many social problems. Introverted individuals tend to have fewer social contacts due to having a lower threshold for the energy required to fuel social interactions, impacting the development and maintenance of friendships. This study clarifies how trait introversion contributes to friendship intimacy, which may affect the strength and longevity of these important interpersonal relationships. Responses from 519 college-aged women from large southeastern university in the United States to the Friendship Qualities Scale, Emotional Self-Disclosure Scale, and the Aloof-Introverted subscale of the IPIP measure were analyzed. Results indicated that introversion had a significant negative correlation with both friendship qualities and emotional self-disclosure. Thus, introverts reported reduced levels of overall friendship intimacy. The current study offers a theoretical framework to shed light on factors contributing to the epidemic of loneliness among young adults. Consequently, we may gain insight into mitigating this issue by examining how individual characteristics impact interpersonal behaviors, resulting in diminished social and emotional connections.

The Relationship between Self-disclosure and Pet Attachment in Early Adulthood

Early adult pet owners tend to lack self-disclosure because they are afraid of the risk of rejection even to those closest to them. Interpersonal rejection makes individuals emotionally distant and afraid to self-disclose to those closest to them, so they will build more attachment to their pets. This research aims to determine the relationship between self-disclosure and pet attachment in early adult. This research uses a quantitative approach. The method used in this study is descriptive analysis and hypothesis testing, namely Spearman's rho correlation The subjects of this research were 327 dog or cat owners who were in early adult in Makassar City. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. This study used the Lexington Attachment Pet Scale (LAPS) and the Self-disclosure Scale. Based on the Spearman rho correlation results, it shows that there is a relationship between self-disclosure and pet attachment in early adult (p=0.000<0.05). The correlation coefficient is -0.316 and is classified as a moderate relationship. This research also found that there were differences in levels of self-disclosure and pet attachment based on the length of time they were kept, and there were no differences based on gender. Based on the research that has been conducted, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between self-disclosure and pet attachment in early adults with moderate relationship strength.

The Relationship Between Loneliness and Self-Discovery in Teenagers Using K-Pop Roleplayer Accounts on Twitter

Teenagers fulfill social needs by communicating and relating well with other people. One of the media used to be used is Twitter. This research aims to determine the relationship between loneliness and self-disclosure in teenagers who use the K-Pop Roleplayer account on Twitter. The technique used in determining the sample was nonprobability sampling with purposive sampling. The subjects of this research were 100 K-Pop Roleplayer account users on Twitter. Data collection used a loneliness scale adapted from the Revised Loneliness Scale (UCLA Version 3), and a self-disclosure scale adapted from the Revised Self Disclosure (RSDS). The results of this research show that the correlation coefficient value is –0.181 with a significant value of 0.72>0.05. That means loneliness does not have a significant relationship with self-disclosure among teenagers using the K-Pop Roleplayer account on Twitter. This research can provide a reference for teenagers using K-Pop Roleplayer accounts on Twitter to maximize their use of Twitter according to their needs.

The Correlation Between Family Functioning and Self-disclosure Among Emerging Adulthood

This study aims to examine the correlation between family functioning and self-disclosure among emerging adulthood. Family functioning is a process of physical and emotional interaction between family members in carrying out their duties and striving for the welfare of each member from the physical, social, and psychological aspects. Self-disclosure is the act of providing information about oneself that is usually hidden and not shared with others. This study used a quantitative method involving 111 college student respondents aged 18-25 years who study in West Jakarta and live separately from their parents. Family functioning is measured using the McMaster Model of Family Functioning adapted by Boterhoven de Haan. Meanwhile, self-disclosure is measured using the Self-Disclosure Scale based on the self-disclosure aspects according to DeVito and has been modified to the research context. The research analysis result showed that based on Pearson's correlation analysis, the family functioning has a significant and positive correlation with self-disclosure among emerging adulthood. The better family functioning and better self-disclosure help emerging adulthood in carrying out their academic activities. This study recommends for emerging adulthood to implement good communication patterns and self-disclosure to express themselves, share experiences, and deliver opinions to parents.

Emotional Self-disclosure in Perimenopausal and Menopausal Women: A Comparative Study

During menopausal transition, along with physiological changes, females also tend to go through a number of psychological changes both on a cognitive and an emotional level. The aim of the study was to differentiate between the perimenopausal and menopausal women in terms of how much they open up about their emotions, during the stages. To find out the differences between the two, we selected a total group of 100 individuals (women) on the criteria of age and then they were divided into two groups, perimenopausal and menopausal respectively and the Emotional Self-Disclosure scale was used for the same. Pregnant women and those who underwent hormonal therapy were excluded from the study. The results indicated that there were no significant differences between the two groups and more or less both of them were similar in terms of emotional self-disclosure. Therefore, it was concluded that both the groups are more or less similar in terms of disclosing their emotions and it is not affected by any menopausal transition stage.

Self-disclosure and its relationship to psychological immunity among non-Arabic-speaking students at Umm Al-Qura University in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

This study aimed to identify the level of self-disclosure and its relationship with the level of psychological resilience among non-Arabic-speaking students at Umm Al-Qura University, taking into account a set of demographic variables (gender, social status, duration of study, age). The study sample consisted of 144 male and female students, and two scales were applied: the Self-Disclosure Scale (Osman, 2013) and the Psychological Resilience Scale (Shapan et al., 2020). The descriptive analytical method was used to answer the study's questions.The results showed a positive correlation between the level of self-disclosure and the level of psychological resilience. The findings also confirmed the possibility of predicting psychological resilience through the level of self-disclosure. However, there were no statistically significant differences on any of the demographic variables under study, either on the variable of self-disclosure or psychological resilience. Based on the main study results, a number of recommendations were formulated, the most important of which are: encouraging non-Arabic speaking students to practice self-disclosure; providing support and a safe space for them to express their thoughts and feelings to enhance their psychological and social well-being; and enhancing self-expression skills among non-Arabic speaking students through educational or training programs targeting this group. Additionally, providing psychological and social support to assist non-Arabic speakers in adapting to a new culture through psychological counseling services or social support programs​​​​​​.

Interpersonal Communication Model on Parenting with Adolescent

The role of parents becomes relational reframing for adolescents; with all the turmoil and characteristics that adolescents have, communication between parents and adolescents is the key to success in the parenting process. This study aims to prove the interpersonal models of parents-adolescents who are influenced by self-compassion and self-disclosure, either directly or indirectly. The method of this study is a quantitative correlation, with the sampling technique purposive sampling. The participants of the study numbered 287 parents, consisting of 98 fathers and 189 mothers. The instruments used are ICS (Interpersonal Communication Scale) by Campbell (2006), SCS (Self-Compassion Scale) by Neff (2003), and Self-Disclosure Scale by Whells & Grotz (1997). The analysis showed that the interpersonal communication model was proven to influence self-compassion and self-disclosure directly. However, self-disclosure does not prove to be a mediator variable between self-compassion and interpersonal communication. The score showed that self-compassion - interpersonal communication had an influence of β = 0.399 (39.9%) with p = 0.000, and self-disclosure - interpersonal communication had an influence of β = 0.282 (28.2%) with p = 0.007. The demographic analysis also found that fathers have higher self-compassion than mothers. At the educational level, it also shows differences in the level of interpersonal communication skills, self-compassion, and self-disclosure.

Forgiveness to others can be given when self-disclosure has been made. This study aims to determine the relationship between self-disclosure and forgiveness in adolescents. The research design uses a non-experimental quantitative type of correlational study. Subjects were 199 high school (SMA) youth and equivalent. The sampling technique uses accidental sampling. The measuring tool uses the Conceptualizing and Measuring Self-Disclosure scale and the Transgression-Related Interpersonal Motivation scale (TRIM-18). Results Analysis of the data using Spearman's rho showed a negative relationship between self-disclosure and forgiveness (r=-0.487; p<0.001). This means that adolescents who are more open in expressing themselves will tend to find it more difficult to forgive others. Thus, explaining oneself broadly and deeply is done by adolescents because they have not forgiven other people who are in conflict with them. Keywords: Adolescences, forgiveness, self-disclosure
