This paper reviews the development of peasant land settlement policy in the Seychelles 1, 2 and presents various conclusions concerning the administration of land settlement schemes. In particular, these deal with the provision of advice for farmers, the necessity for adequate investigational work prior to the creation of settlement projects, other important services ancillary to land settlement, the selection and training of tenants, investment policy, the conditions of tenancy, the size of farm unit holdings and alternatives to land settlement policy.
