This research is to determine the form of corporate responsibility PT. Garuda Indonesia, which is suspected of discriminating in the selection of partners for selling Umrah tickets, uses normative legal research methods, by examining literature that focuses on Law no. 5 of 1999. The results of this study are the accountability carried out by PT. Garuda Indonesia in resolving the case, by paying a fine or administrative sanction determined by the Indonesian Competition Commission (ICC), namely paying a fine of IDR 1,000,000,000.00. However, if the fine is late in payment, PT. Garuda Indonesia may be subject to a late fine of 2% per month of the specified fine, in accordance with Government Regulation Number 58 of 2020 concerning the Management of Non-Tax State Revenue.

<em>The potato is one of the vegetables comodities in Brebes Regency. The last three years, there has been a decline in production. Supply chain that has been implemented is deemed not optimal while the region has potential that can be exploited. The purpose of this study was to determine supply chain of the potato in Brebes Regency.The analytical method uses a Food Supply Chain Network (FSCN). The result showed that conditions based on the aspects of the target, structure, management, resources, and supply chain business processes. Target potatoes are sold to the local Brebes market and outside the region. There are four supply chain structure.It members are farmers, middlemen, wholesalers, small traders, retailers, and consumers. Supply chain management related to partner selection, contractual agreements, transaction systems, government support, and supply chain collaboration. The criteria for selecting partners are bidders with high prices, customers, and middlemen who are bound to provide capital loans to farmers. Transaction system through grace and cash system. The government support also contributes to the sustainability of it. Resources owned by members of the supply chain consist of physical, technology, and capital resources. Business processes can be seen from distribution patterns, support chain members, risk and trust building. Distribution patterns flow products, finance, and information from farmers to consumers, and vice versa. Each member of the potato supply chain requires equipment and input in the form of raw materials in the production process. Each member has different risks in the supply chain business process.</em>

Sustainable resilient recycling partner selection for urban waste management: Consolidating perspectives of decision-makers and experts

In sustainable waste supply chains, selecting recycling partners is an important factor in the decision-making process. Waste supply chains have undergone many fundamental modifications because of the rise of concepts such as sustainability, circular economy, and resilience. To overcome the current shortcomings of the literature on recycling partner selection only based on sustainability aspects, an evaluation framework is developed to address recycling partner selection by considering both sustainability and resilience factors. Although developing a sustainable and resilient evaluation framework improves the process of selecting recycling partners, the problem becomes very complex, and multidimensional decision-makers require reliable and accurate tools to make informed decisions. Multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) methods are useful decision-making tools with high reliability to address problems under uncertainty. Although previous studies have developed several MCDM methods based on various uncertainty sets, the capability to support efficient and accurate group decision-making by decision-makers’ opinions and experts’ judgments has been a major disadvantage. Therefore, this study develops a novel decision-making approach using ZE-numbers based on the best-worst method (ZE-BWM) and a combined compromise solution (ZE-CoCoSo). The proposed novel approach for addressing a sustainability and resilience management problem in an urban setting is demonstrated in a real-life case study using Tabriz, Iran as a case study. According to the results, net profit and the robustness of the waste supply chain are the most important criteria.

“New and old”: Consumer evaluations of co-branding between new brands and Chinese time-honored brands

Nowadays, rejuvenation of Chinese time-honored brands, a symbol of Chinese traditional culture, is manifested in their co-branding with new brands. With focus on sincerity and excitement, two fundamental dimensions of brand personality, the authors explore this co-branding strategy which remains unexplored by the extant literature. Based on the integration of brand personality and Stereotype Content Model, a new mechanism is constructed from the perspective of consumers, with brand admiration being the underlying mechanism, as well as product category—hedonic vs. utilitarian—being a boundary condition. Through three experimental studies, the results show that the exciting (vs. sincere) personality of new brands increases consumers’ admiration for both allied brands, which in turn enhances co-branding evaluations, and that the advantage of the exciting personality holds for the hedonic co-branded product, but disappears for the utilitarian one. The research contributes to the co-branding literature and provides implications for brand partner selection and co-branded product design.

Establishing a Corporate Mentor Partner Program (CMPP) focusing on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) – considering addressing gender bias and equality

At Alliance Manchester Business School (AMBS) we piloted a new innovative mentoring program, the Corporate Mentor Partner Program (CMPP). Several factors contributed to this initiative, with one of the main drivers being that certain groups of graduates, females on a specific program, did not progress their career as well as expected and were lagging their peers after graduation. In the CMPP pilot, we worked with individual organisations, corporate partners, on a specialised and individually tailored mentoring program, making sure we could target and match specific student groups and aligning this with the ethos and CSR goals of the corporate partner organisation, particularly focus on gender equality. The mentoring would no longer just be between the mentor and the mentee, but additional stakeholders would benefit such as the University and other external organisations. An online mentoring platform was carefully selected. Student groups were invited to engage with the CMPP. The article discusses the background of the program, how students were identified and engaged, selection of corporate partners, why and how CSR played a role, the benefits to all stakeholders, criteria for an online platform, but also the challenges and learnings that needs to be taken into consideration should a larger scale program be established. Key learnings from the pilot are to consider clear rules of engagement, consider the methods of matching carefully and be sensitive to cultural differences, consider target groups (females or further inclusivity) as well as having clear timelines for maximum impact.

Multidimensional proximities and interorganizational coinnovation performance: The roles of intraorganizational collaboration network inefficiency.

In a gradually more interlinked world, the formation of collaborations with partners is increasingly regarded as an important driver for generating innovation. Although multidimensional proximities are important factors influencing interorganizational coinnovation performance, relevant empirical studies have not reached consistent conclusions. By focusing on organizational dyad and including intraorganizational collaboration network inefficiency as a moderating variable, we explore the effects of multidimensional proximities on interorganizational coinnovation performance. By reference to 5G patent data collected in China between 2011 and 2020, the research results based on the quadratic assignment procedure (QAP) model show that geographical proximity, cognitive proximity, and institutional proximity all improve interorganizational coinnovation performance. In addition, the inefficiency of intraorganizational collaboration networks decreases the positive effect of geographical proximity but increases the positive effects of cognitive and institutional proximity in this context. These findings have both theoretical and practical implications for organizational partner selection.

Multi-attribute decision-making for electronic waste recycling using interval-valued Fermatean fuzzy Hamacher aggregation operators.

The utilization of electrical and electronics equipments in waste recycling has become a paramount for various countries. The waste electrical and electronics equipment (WEEE) recyclers own a crucial position in the environmental growth of a country as they help to minimize the carbon emissions during the recycling of WEEE in the most eco-friendly way. Therefore, the selection and assessment of an appropriate WEEE recycling partner has become a most important part of DM (decision-making) applications. The collusion of numerous quantitative and qualitative factors makes the recycling partner selection problem, a multifaced and significant decision for the managerial experts. The main objective of this work is to propose MADM (multi-attribute decision-making) techniques to evaluate the WEEE recycling partners under interval-valued Fermatean fuzzy (IVFF) information. In this regard, certain Hamacher AOs (aggregation operators) are proposed to develop the required DM method. These AOs include Hamacher weighted averaging, ordered weighted averaging, weighted geometric, ordered weighted geometric, generalized Einstein weighted averaging, generalized Einstein ordered weighted averaging, generalized Einstein weighted geometric, etc. Then, these averaging operators are utilized to come up with a MADM techniques under IVFF environment. Furthermore, the constructed technique is applied to a case study in China to incorporate with the e-waste recycling partner selection problem. Moreover, a brief comparison of the proposed with is presented with various existing techniques to manifest the productivity and coherence of the proposed model. Finally, the accuracy and consistency of results shows that the proposed technique is fully compatible and applicable to handle any MADM problem.

Fresh takes on five health data sharing domains: Quality, privacy, equity, incentives, and sustainability.

As entities around the world invest in repositories and other infrastructure to facilitate health data sharing, scalable solutions to data sharing challenges are needed. We conducted semi-structured interviews with 24 experts to explore views on potential issues and policy options related to health data sharing. In this Perspective, we describe and contextualize unconventional insights shared by our interviewees relevant to issues in five domains: data quality, privacy, equity, incentives, and sustainability. These insights question a focus on granular quality metrics for gatekeeping; challenge enthusiasm for maximalist risk disclosure practices; call attention to power dynamics that potentially compromise the patient's voice; encourage faith in the sharing proclivities of new generations of scientists; and endorse accounting for personal disposition in the selection of long-term partners. We consider the merits of each insight with the broad goal of encouraging creative thinking to address data sharing challenges.

Analysis of Sub-Optimization Impact on Partner Selection in VMI

Different combinations of elements will lead to different system functions, so a supply chain composed of enterprises with different characteristics will lead to differences in the system performance. In this study, a vendor-managed inventory (VMI) model is built; the model takes into consideration the factors of demand amplification, order and inventory cost change. Then, the change in the revenue of the supply chain and its members—due to VMI—are represented, and the influence of the different production parameters on this change is analyzed. On the basis of proving the distinctive feature of the Kaldor–Hicks improvement possessed by VMI, the profit fluctuations of enterprises in a supply chain that is composed of members with different characteristics using VMI are calculated by a numerical experiment. The conclusions of this paper indicate why enterprises prefer to choose VMI partners, and the results confirm the sub-optimal characteristic of this tendency. In addition, the results also reveal the inherent contradiction of VMI between supply chain efficiency improvement and coordination among the supply chain’s members. If an enterprise chooses VMI partners solely to maximize its own interests, the possibility of Pareto improvement in the supply chain will be maximized. However, at this time, a more effective supply chain system cannot be organized.

R&D innovation under uncertainty: a framework for empirical investigation of knowledge complementarity and goal congruence

PurposeThis study aims to introduce a new prescriptive model to aid both managers and researchers in partner selection for innovation-orientated collaboration. This framework demonstrates how prospective partner firms’ complementing bodies of knowledge and goal alignment interact to affect the success of a collaboration.Design/methodology/approachThe authors use geometric modeling to represent the interrelationships among knowledge similarity/dissimilarity, goal congruence, knowledge complementarity (KC) and innovation in alliance formation. Using this model as a framework, the authors derive relationships among predictors of innovation success and determine how they affect the nature of partnerships under varying conditions of KC.FindingsThis research shows how innovation success is strongly determined by partner selection. Specifically, the authors examine the influence of KC and partner goals on three aspects of a potential research and development (R&D) alliance – the potential level of innovation outcome for the alliance, the boundaries of knowledge sharing and limitations arising from knowledge and goal incongruence and the nature of cooperation.Originality/valueAlthough there is broad empirical support that innovation success is influenced by the similarity of R&D partners’ knowledge, further research is still needed to model the relationship more precisely between partner KC and goal alignment. The authors address this gap by developing a model that is both prescriptive and predictive of how innovation success can be achieved in the context of disparate but complementing knowledge and goal sets. The authors conclude with practical implications for practice and future research directions.

Using an optimization model to support small sewing companies: a case study in a Brazilian textile cluster

PurposeTextile manufacturers worldwide are reformulating their networks, often outsourcing them to maintain a competitive advantage and increase market share. From this perspective, the purpose of this study is support the partnership selection process to develop a sustainable chain that effectively meets customer needs. Brazil has the largest textile and apparel chain in the West and is distinguished by its completeness, from fiber production, spinning, weaving, knitting, finishing and sewing to fashion shows. However, a firm’s relationship, especially in the production stage, is based on informal contracts, which result in a negative operational impact.Design/methodology/approachA methodological framework was developed based on a stable matching process to determine the optimal supplier network structure. This study presents a model application for the denim apparel chain in northeast Brazil.FindingsIn these environments, providing choices and recommending suppliers can be beneficial for effectively attending to demand requests, reducing production costs and improving quality through collaboration with sense relationships in a network. Thus, this study presents a better match from the negotiators’ perspective.Originality/valueThe findings of this research are of primary interest for guiding collaborative network composition in the textile and apparel chain. In particular, apparel domain companies can improve their effectiveness in decision-making by measuring the characteristics and potential of all companies involved in networks.

Objectification and racial homophily among Black men who have sex with men logged on to Grindr

Black men who have sex with men (MSM) are disproportionately impacted by HIV infection. Evidence suggests that the racial disparity in HIV incidence among MSM may be due, in part, to high rates of racial homophily (i.e., same-race partnering) within the sexual networks of Black MSM. Among subpopulations with high HIV prevalence, such as Black MSM, homophily facilitates the formation of relatively closed networks and thus efficient disease propagation. Structural racism, including residential and occupational segregation, is a major contributor to racial homophily, but less is known about the interpersonal dynamics that may drive patterns of sexual partner selection within people's local contexts. The current study tested one hypothesis that objectification by non-Black men may lead to increased rates of same-race partnering for Black MSM. Specifically, in a vignette-style experiment, Black MSM (N = 199; Mage = 31.6) were recruited from Grindr, a geosocial networking application that connects people with physically-proximate users, and were exposed to a sexually-objectifying Grindr user. Compared to when an objectifying partner was Black, White Partner Race led participants to endorse less likelihood of engagement, an effect transmitted through its intermediate impact on state self-objectification. Critically, participants in this sample reported moderate rates of same-race partnering from Grindr (approximately 40% of past-year Grindr partners were also Black), and this mechanism was observed only among those Black MSM reporting the highest rates (i.e., 84th percentile of past-year Grindr homophily). Results suggest that objectification does not cause racial homophily, but it may interact with people's local contexts to reinforce existing racial homophily within the sexual networks of Black MSM. Implications for both HIV prevention and future research are discussed.

Professionalism and homophily bias: A study of Airbnb stay choice and review positivity

Sharing economy platforms increasingly turn to professionalism to compete with their industry competitors, exemplified by their rule-based practices and fewer emphases on personal relationships. Such expanding professionalism has different effects on social discrimination that is infesting these platforms. We argue that professionalism may reduce one type of discrimination, homophily bias, in partner selection but increase the discrimination in online reviews in these platforms. Using 372,627 stays on Airbnb in New York City, this study demonstrates homophily bias existed in both the selection and review of partners, based on the similarity in race, gender, and age. Moreover, while certain practice of professionalism (i.e., instant booking) reduced homophily biases in partner selection, another professionalism practice (i.e., staying in entire places/apartments) exacerbated the biases in guests’ online reviews of hosts. Our findings suggest that researchers and practitioners should be cautious about the one-fit-all tendency of implementing certain professionalism practices on such platforms.

Local information hinders coordination in endogenous networks

We model economic coordination as a minimum-effort game played repeatedly on a network, with endogenous partner selection (network formation). Coordination on the high-effort equilibrium is achieved under global information provided the population size is large enough. In contrast, under local information, agents are too conservative when choosing unknown partners and the low-effort equilibrium prevails.

Research on Partner Selection of High-Speed Railway Dynamic Logistics Alliance Based on the Dynamic Programming Model

Traditional railway transportation can no longer meet people’s demand for logistics services. This paper takes advantage of high speed to propose a high-speed railway dynamic logistics alliance based on a cloud platform to make up for the lack of transport capacity at both ends of the high-speed railway logistics trunk line. Selecting partners is crucial to the high-speed rail logistics alliance. This paper uses the methods of multiobjective fuzzy optimization and dynamic programming to conduct multistage optimization of high-speed railway dynamic logistics alliance partners. When the market demand changes, in order to optimize the overall interests of the alliance, this paper uses the efficiency profit field method to achieve the dynamic selection of alliance partners or potential partners. The case study shows that the establishment of the high-speed railway dynamic logistics alliance can optimize the interests of the members of the alliance, verify the effectiveness of the method, and provide a reference for the better development of high-speed railway logistics.

Partner selection method in cooperative spatial modulation (CSM) system

In this work, to achieve higher capacity, spatial modulation (SM) is utilized in a cooperative scheme in two different models of Cooperative SM, where SM is applied either at the source or the selected partner through an antenna array. A theoretical model of SM capacity is defined based on closed form lower and upper bound of the SM capacity. Based on the theoretical analysis of the channel capacity in both CSM systems the simplest and easier to implement selection criteria have been suggested to select a single partner to maximize CSM capacity. The CSM system in which SM is applied through the partner’s antenna array is providing significant enhancement over the other CSM model and cooperative multiple-input-multiple-output (CO-MIMO) networks based on multiple partners. Moreover, the system with a single randomly selected partner equipped with four antennas, behaves similarly as the best configuration of CO-MIMO based on the cooperation of four partners with the computational complexity linearly increases with the number of available partners to help. All of the theoretical findings are verified through simulation studies.

International strategic alliances for collaborative product Innovation: An agent-based scenario analysis in biopharmaceutical industry

The lack of ability, knowledge, and resources at a national level leads companies to choose international strategic alliances (ISAs) as an appropriate solution to enter the global markets. In this regard, selecting appropriate partners is a fundamental step in reducing the risks and costs of these alliances. This article analyzes international partner selection scenarios using agent-based simulations in Iran's biopharmaceutical industry. In line with the goal of this research, a complete understanding of the failure and success of collaboration product innovation is presented. First, the critical/key success factors (KSFs) in international strategic alliances were identified through a literature review (LR) and screened via Fuzzy Delphi. Next, selected factors were weighted by fuzzy SWARA (Stepwise Weight Assessment Ratio Analysis) and considered as simulation inputs for international partner selection. The simulation results indicated the critical role of the knowledge-matching degree and complementary resources and the insignificant impact of the company's reputation, government support, and experience in the international alliance. Furthermore, we found that pharmaceutical and biotech companies should emphasize their partner's complementary resources and develop an evaluation system to measure the knowledge-matching degree of their foreign partners in ISA. Eventually, this paper provides practical and applied solutions for biopharmaceutical industry managers to analyze business partners. The article also adds to the debate on ISAs in biopharmaceutical industries.
