English Learning Strategies Supported by Wireless Communication Modules and Their Application in 5G

In this study, a simplified strategy for the English assistance model was provided to overcome the limitations of current school English display settings and increase the scope of 5G innovation. This study uses a learning strategy based convolutional neural network (LS-CNN) to determine the execution of college English learning strategies. This article breaks traditional school English learning strategies by integrating 5G, which significantly improves classroom communication. In addition, this development approach may improve the standards of English performance in various methods, while strictly and purposefully adhering to the display guidance of “displaying substitute actors based on their skills”. The early findings of the review revealed that the proposed method focuses on the weaknesses of the standard English display model used in universities, while improving the mental abilities of substitute actors in various fields, including listening, talking, reading, and composing.

Scoping Review of Economic Analyses of Rare Kidney Diseases

IntroductionRare kidney diseases (RKD) place a substantial economic burden on patients and health systems, the extent of which is unknown and may be systematically underestimated by health economic techniques. We aimed to investigate the economic burden and cost-effectiveness evidence base for RKD. MethodsWe conducted a systematic scoping review to identify economic evaluations, health technology assessments and cost-of-illness studies relating to RKD published since 2012. Results161 published studies, including 66 cost of illness studies, 95 economic evaluations and 72 grey literature reports were included. Most published literature originated from high-income nations, particularly the USA (81 studies), and focused on a handful of diseases, notably renal cell carcinomas (70) and systemic lupus erythematosus (36). Limited evidence was identified from lower-income settings and there were few studies of genetic conditions, which make up most RKD. Some studies demonstrated the cost-effectiveness of existing treatments, however, there were limited considerations of broader economic impacts on patients that may be important to those with RKD. Included health technology assessments highlighted difficulties in obtaining high-quality clinical evidence for treatments in very small patient populations, and often considered equity issues and other patient impacts qualitatively alongside clinical and economic evidence in their recommendations. ConclusionsWe found large gaps in the economic evidence base for RKD and limited adaption of methods to account for the uniqueness of these diseases. There may be significant scope for innovation in building an investment case for RKD treatments, as well as in decision-making processes to inform investment decisions.

Computer Vision-Based cybernetics systems for promoting modern poultry Farming: A critical review

As global demands on the poultry production and welfare both intensify, the precision poultry farming technologies such as computer vision-based cybernetics system is becoming important in addressing the current issues related to animal welfare and production efficiencies. The integration of computer vision technology has become a catalyst for transformative change in precision farming, particularly concerning productivity and welfare. This review paper delineates the central role of computer vision in precision poultry farming, focusing on its applications in non-contact monitoring methods that employ advanced sensors and cameras to enhance farm biosecurity and bird observation without disturbance. We delved into the multifaceted advancements such as the utilization of convolutional neural networks (CNNs) for behavior analysis and health monitoring, evidenced by the high accuracy sorting of eggs and identification of health concerns within target-dense farm environments. The review paper underscores advancements in precision agriculture, including accurate egg weight estimation and egg classification within cage-free systems, paralleling the poultry sector’s evolution towards more ethical farming practices. Moreover, it addresses the progress in poultry growth monitoring and examines case studies of commercial farms, showcasing how these innovations are being practically applied to enhance productivity and animal welfare. Challenges remain, particularly in terms of environmental variability and data annotation for deep learning models. Nevertheless, the review emphasizes the scope for future innovations like voice-controlled robotics and virtual reality applications, which have the potential to enhance poultry farming to new levels of efficiency, humanity, and sustainability. The insights assert that the continued exploration and development in computer vision technologies are not only instrumental for the poultry sector but also offer a blueprint for agricultural enhancement at large.

Antitrust Laws and the Future of Market Competition

Purpose: The general objective of the study was to investigate antitrust laws and the future of market competition. Methodology: The study adopted a desktop research methodology. Desk research refers to secondary data or that which can be collected without fieldwork. Desk research is basically involved in collecting data from existing resources hence it is often considered a low cost technique as compared to field research, as the main cost is involved in executive’s time, telephone charges and directories. Thus, the study relied on already published studies, reports and statistics. This secondary data was easily accessed through the online journals and library. Findings: The findings reveal that there exists a contextual and methodological gap relating to antitrust laws and the future of market competition. Preliminary empirical review revealed that while existing antitrust frameworks had been instrumental in promoting competition and preventing monopolistic practices, they faced significant challenges in the digital age. The rapid evolution of technology and the rise of digital platforms had created new competitive dynamics that traditional antitrust laws struggled to address. The dominance of a few tech giants led to market concentration, reducing the scope for competition and innovation. The study highlighted the inadequacies of current antitrust enforcement in dealing with digital platforms, data control, and network effects. Additionally, it emphasized the need for international cooperation and a balanced approach to antitrust enforcement that considered both competition and innovation to ensure that the benefits of the digital economy were widely shared. Unique Contribution to Theory, Practice and Policy: The Structure-Conduct-Performance (SCP) Paradigm, Contestable Market Theory and Innovation and Monopolistic Competition Theory may be used to anchor future studies on antitrust laws and the future of market competition. The study recommended updating theoretical frameworks to include factors like data control and network effects, and adopting more flexible and adaptive approaches in antitrust enforcement. It advocated for the creation of specialized regulatory units focused on digital markets, equipped with the necessary resources and expertise. The study also highlighted the importance of international cooperation in antitrust enforcement to address cross-border anti-competitive practices effectively. Furthermore, it suggested continuous dialogue with industry stakeholders to develop more informed policies and emphasized the role of consumer education in promoting competitive markets. These recommendations aimed to enhance antitrust laws and ensure robust market competition in the digital age.

Experimental Networks: A Missing Link in Facilitating Systemic Transitions Through Projects?

This article analyzes how firms can enable their innovation strategies through projects under various conditions. Previous research has identified an array of project-related means, such as explorative projects, project lineages, and ambidextrous programs, by which firms aim to realize their long-term innovation goals. These approaches, although powerful, are primarily focal firm-centered; address product-, platform-, and business-model levels; and tend to draw heavily on the firm’s resources and coordination efforts. However, systemic transitions are characterized by complex and unforeseen redefinitions of organizational and industrial boundaries, which require mobilization of resources by multiple actors, prompting firms to engage in time-limited experimental networks. This article introduces this concept to project studies and juxtaposes it with the key extant project-based concepts for enabling innovation by scrutinizing their definitions, intended scope of innovation, locus of attention, and coordination principles. Consequently, it draws attention to the importance of interorganizational aspects when facing a systemic transition and contributes to an emerging debate on the linkages among project studies, innovation management, and sociotechnical transitions.

The Future of Septic Tanks: Uncovering Technological Trends through Patent Analysis

As global urbanisation, industrialisation, and population growth escalate, the production of wastewater also increases, leading to significant water pollution on a global scale. This pollution poses severe threats to environmental health, wildlife, and human communities. In rural areas where centralised sewage systems are often absent, septic tanks play a crucial role in managing wastewater. They separate solids from liquids and facilitate the biological decomposition of organic matter. This paper utilises a Patent Landscape Review (PLR) to analyse the scope and direction of innovations in septic tank technology. Conducted on 23 September 2022, the patent search targeted filings from January 2001 through June 2022 to identify prevailing trends and advancements within this field. Through a detailed examination of 889 patents, categorised by keywords, processes, materials, and designs, this study offers a comprehensive overview of the patent landscape for septic tanks. Key findings indicate that fibreglass cylindrical tanks dominate the market due to their durability and efficiency. This review also highlights a growing trend towards modular septic systems, which offer scalable solutions adaptable to specific environmental conditions. Furthermore, some patents propose the repurposing of various objects as septic tanks, demonstrating a move towards sustainability by reducing waste and enhancing environmental conservation. This paper emphasises the importance of continued innovation in septic tank technology to address the challenges of effective wastewater management in underserved rural communities.

Innovation and Human Resources Management in the Health Sector: Systematic Review Study

The health sector has been developing technologically at an incredible pace in recent years. While this circumstance increases the importance of the concept of innovation, on the other hand, it causes institutions to change their management approach. The primary purpose of this study is to examine the research conducted within the scope of innovation in the field of human resources management in the health sector. The method of the research is "systematic review" (meta-synthesis). Within the scope of the purpose of the research, inferences were made by analyzing the research conducted with a series of keywords related to the concepts of 'innovation' and 'human resources management' with the criteria determined in the 'Web of Science Core Collection' database. Accordingly, 17 articles were examined in line with the study's inclusion criteria. The articles examined were evaluated according to the criteria determined by the researcher (main findings, including keyword, study subject, year of publication, method used, scale, sample size, science/department in which it was written, type of study). According to the results obtained from the research, it is observed that there is only one study that includes human resources management directly related to the concept of innovation. It was determined that the subjects studied in the articles were generally innovation, human resources or innovation and the health sector. The assessment is that the research results will contribute to new studies on related subjects and healthcare enterprises related to these subjects.

Contextual corporeality: Life in the ninth decade and beyond

AbstractIncreased longevity is occurring worldwide with the greatest increase in the numbers of the very old. Many gerontological scholars have noted that these changes pose a risk of exclusion of the very old whose ability to participate in society may be compromised by bodily challenges. While the growing number of people aged 80 years and over raises many issues concerning health and social care needs, demands for a skilled workforce, and scope for technical innovations designed to compensate for the infirmities of advanced old age, these topics tend to exclude consideration of the everyday experiences, interests and wishes of those in deep old age. The qualitative research reported here focuses on people in advanced old age and the associated corporeal challenges they may face, set in the context of living on the San Juan islands off the coast of Washington in the Pacific Northwest of the United States. The participants of this study were islanders ranging in age from 80 to 102 years with a median age of 83 (M = 85.9, SD = 5.95). A mixture of semistructured interview and a photo elicitation methodology was employed. The results of the study demonstrated that, while integral to daily life in deep old age, corporeal challenges per se did not necessarily lead to a sense of exclusion, at least in the context of island life. Thematic analysis of the findings suggested the importance of context in framing corporeality, and the need to look beyond objective indicators of disability and function to acknowledge the role of social belonging in ensuring the continuing citizenship and social engagement of people in their ninth decade and beyond.

Convergence of Intelligent Networks: Harnessing the Power of Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain for Future Innovations

This research aims to explore the convergence between smart networks, artificial intelligence (AI), and blockchain technology as a foundation for future innovation. The background includes the rapid development of information and communications technology, which is driving increasing integration between AI and blockchain in infrastructure networks. The methods used include a comprehensive literature survey and in-depth analysis of the latest trends in the development of this technology. The issues examined include interoperability, security, and privacy challenges faced in integrating AI and blockchain. The research results show that this convergence promises to improve efficiency, transparency and transparency in a variety of applications, from supply chain management to financial services. However, significant challenges such as scalability and regulation must also be overcome to realize the full potential of this convergence. In conclusion, the merger of AI and blockchain expands the scope of technological innovation by leveraging the strengths of each, but more efforts are needed to address further issues so that this convergence can be implemented widely and sustainably in various industrial fields.

Abstract The place of 'humanities' is very important for the overall development of human beings, because these sciences are the scriptural system related to the life of human beings. Which we also known as 'humanities'. Humanities may be different from technical and science subjects. But there is no loss of inner science or knowledge in it. For example, whether it is linguistics or psychology or sociology, all include the science of that subject. Languages also have the potential to entertain the medical and intellectual entertainment of the human mind. On the one hand, through languages, creators create literature by accepting mediums such as story, novel and poetry. In addition, there is scope for creativity, innovation and improvements according to time and country in literature. Very important subjects such as sociology, geography, economics or psychology create content and knowledge in relation to human existence and development. No subject is above the needs and responsibilities of the hour. Just as one has to fulfil one's social and worldly needs. In the same way, not every subject and scripture can take up subject-appropriate and incidental matters.

The whack-a-mole governance challenge for AI-enabled synthetic biology: literature review and emerging frameworks.

AI-enabled synthetic biology has tremendous potential but also significantly increases biorisks and brings about a new set of dual use concerns. The picture is complicated given the vast innovations envisioned to emerge by combining emerging technologies, as AI-enabled synthetic biology potentially scales up bioengineering into industrial biomanufacturing. However, the literature review indicates that goals such as maintaining a reasonable scope for innovation, or more ambitiously to foster a huge bioeconomy do not necessarily contrast with biosafety, but need to go hand in hand. This paper presents a literature review of the issues and describes emerging frameworks for policy and practice that transverse the options of command-and-control, stewardship, bottom-up, and laissez-faire governance. How to achieve early warning systems that enable prevention and mitigation of future AI-enabled biohazards from the lab, from deliberate misuse, or from the public realm, will constantly need to evolve, and adaptive, interactive approaches should emerge. Although biorisk is subject to an established governance regime, and scientists generally adhere to biosafety protocols, even experimental, but legitimate use by scientists could lead to unexpected developments. Recent advances in chatbots enabled by generative AI have revived fears that advanced biological insight can more easily get into the hands of malignant individuals or organizations. Given these sets of issues, society needs to rethink how AI-enabled synthetic biology should be governed. The suggested way to visualize the challenge at hand is whack-a-mole governance, although the emerging solutions are perhaps not so different either.

Scouts’ Perspectives on Learning Experiences from a Pedagogical Innovation Scope

The Portuguese educational system aims at nurturing the holistic development of individuals and societal progress, surpassing the mere transmission of curriculum-based knowledge. While considerable advancements have been made, the need for ongoing innovation and equal educational opportunities remains evident, so that all children can have not only equal access to education, but also equal chances of success. This study investigates the largest Portuguese Scout movement, the CNE, exploring its organisational and pedagogical approaches, potentially applicable in formal education settings. This research surveyed participants aged 18–22, having completed approximately 12 years in the Scout movement. Data collection via focus group followed a semi-structured script, before a thorough content analysis was carried. Findings are organised as follows: Pedagogical organisation in learning cycles; Patrol system; The four stages of the Project Method; Characterization of the Scout Game and other learning process dimensions; Other competencies and values developed throughout the Scout learning course; and Comparisons with formal education contexts. The discourse of participants strongly suggests the Scout movement’s potential to inspire educational change, displaying consistent indicators of pedagogical innovation. The study advocates for further exploration of the CNE’s pedagogical functioning and its potential to serve as an inspiration for transformative changes in educational systems worldwide, as evidenced by the learners’ reflections.

Neonatal jaundice detection in low-income Mexican settings: is there scope for mHealth innovation?

Abstract Introduction Neonatal jaundice (NNJ) is a common and usually harmless condition, but undetected severe cases can cause brain damage and disabilities in thousands of babies each year. Low- and middle-income countries often lack accurate methods for detection and rely primarily on visual assessment (VA), resulting in a higher incidence of consequences. Norwegian researchers developed an easy-to-use and affordable smartphone app (Picterus) to detect NNJ that has shown higher accuracy than VA in Norwegian and Mexican neonates. We evaluated the feasibility of implementing Picterus in low-income settings in Mexico to improve outcomes for affected newborns. Methods Qualitative methods, including 1 focus group, 15 semi structured interviews, and 4 observations, were used in urban and rural health facilities in Oaxaca, Mexico, with medical doctors, nurses, and health authorities as participants. Results Four themes were identified through thematic analysis guided by the Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research: (1) the current process to detect NNJ, (2) participants’ needs to improve it, (3) feasibility of implementing Picterus in the health system, and (4) users’ expectations from the app. The findings indicate deficiencies in the current process of NNJ detection and a desire among participants for a more accurate tool. Picterus was perceived as an easy-to-use and useful tool compatible with the work routine; however, barriers to adoption were identified, primarily related to internet deficiencies and costs. Conclusions Picterus has the potential to improve NNJ detection but contextual barriers must be addressed for a successful implementation in the setting. Additionally, there is scope to optimize VA to strengthen NNJ detection. Key messages • Prevalence of severe consequences of NNJ is higher in LMIC compared to high-income ones reflecting an unjust but preventable health inequity with significant health, social and economic costs. • Picterus offers a reliable and accessible tool to bridge the gap in NNJ detection, potentially improving outcomes for affected newborns in all settings.

Smart home adoption factors: A systematic literature review and research agenda.

Smart homes represent the complement of various automation technologies that together make up a network of devices facilitating the daily tasks of residents. These technologies are being studied for their application from different sectors, including the projection of their use to improve energy consumption planning and health care management. However, technology adoption depends on social awareness within the scope of cognitive advantages and innovations compared to perceived risk because although there are multiple benefits, potential users express fears related to the loss of autonomy and security. This study carries out a systematic literature review based on PRISMA in order to analyze research trends and literary evolution in the technological adoption of smart homes, considering the main theories and variables applied by the community. In proposing a research agenda in accordance with the identified gaps and the growing and emerging themes of the object of study, it is worth highlighting the growing interest in the subject, both for the present and its development in the future. Until now, adoption factors have been attributed more to the technological acceptance model and the diffusion of innovation theory, adopting components of the Theory of Planned Behavior; therefore, in several cases, the attributes of different theories are merged to adapt to the needs of each researcher, promoting the creation of empirical and extended models.

Agile approach to accelerate product development using an MVP framework

ABSTRACT Customers are looking for suppliers to deliver complex systems at faster rates, targeting three year cycle. This timeframe is challenging for low Technology Readiness Level (TRL) developments, increasing requirements engineering effort, leaving engineers little time and scope for innovation. Test and Evaluation (T&E) activities are often performed in Australia near the end of the process diminishing their value , compensating for a lack of modelling and simulation in early stages. Waterfall Project Management dominates where capability is hardware focused, leading to overruns and deliver capability that falls short of customer expectations in some areas. The Agile approach has been successfully used in software-focused developments. Project managers have been slow to adopt Agile for developments in areas like Defence where the safety is hardware dominant claiming the Agile process lacks necessary governance , increasing risk in the development. This paper examines the extant developmental process in a Defence context and proposes a Minimal Viable Product (MVP)-based framework using Agile to accelerate the development and mitigate risk escalation.

Do Size and Ownership Determine the Willingness for Sustainable Innovations in Spa and Health Tourism? A Case Study on Baile Felix Spa Resort, Romania

There is a considerable debate in the literature regarding the real impact of tourism on the environment and human communities, specifically with respect to tourism’s openness to sustainable innovation. The way in which the different forms of tourism and entrepreneurial and managerial initiatives respond to the new economic, technological, social and environmental challenges acquire considerable importance for academics, practitioners, decision makers and consumers. The purpose of this research is to assess the potential for sustainable innovation in spa and health tourism in a relevant area in Romania through a survey-based study of both entrepreneurs who own a tourist accommodation unit, as well as top and middle managers from large tourism enterprises. The results of our research show that the development of spa and health tourism offers multiple examples of good practices, and that stimulating innovative entrepreneurial initiatives can lead to a sustainable reinvention of the tourism and local economy, in line with the international health tourism market. In the case of small businesses, even though sustainable initiatives are present, they are at an earlier stage and are less diversified compared to hotels, the scope of innovation is smaller and their motivation weaker. In other words, a large part of the objectives of modernization and sustainability in spa and health tourism (equipment, services, qualification and hiring of employees, sustainable and environmentally friendly orientation) are the responsibility of large hotel resorts. This research provides valuable insights into the ongoing debate surrounding the impact of tourism on the environment and local communities, with a specific focus on the potential for sustainable innovation in spa and health tourism within a significant region of Romania.

Let the Program Evaluation Committee SOAR: Applying the Strengths, Opportunities, Aspirations, and Results (SOAR) Framework for Program Evaluation.

Annual program evaluations are important activities of all graduate medical education programs. Although the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education provides general guidelines, there is substantial scope for educational innovation. Strengths, opportunities, aspirations, and results (SOAR) is a strengths-based framework for strategic planning. Because SOAR emphasizes positivity and engagement, it is an appealing framework for evaluating graduate medical education programs. Our objective was to demonstrate the feasibility and acceptability of SOAR in a program evaluation committee of a fellowship program to generate strategic initiatives. The authors used the four steps of SOAR within the program evaluation committee in 2022. Interviewers collected positive stories to understand program strengths. Then, rapid ideation was used to translate strengths into opportunities. These opportunities were condensed and refined for fellows to assess how well they align with aspirations. The ones that aligned best with aspirations were prioritized for implementation. Results were monitored through a scorecard based on specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) goals every month. Of 15 divisional members, 11 participated (73.3%). Five major strengths were identified: supportive environment, variety of cases, scheduling flexibility, integration with larger networks, and multidisciplinary collaboration. These 5 yielded 15 opportunities, which were refined and condensed to 9. Four were selected for implementation: scholarly works accountability group, hybrid-flex curriculum, fellowship weekly huddles, and structured electives. Scorecards have shown successful implementation during a 4-month period. SOAR is an innovative and feasible approach to program evaluation that uses trainee engagement to translate and synergize existing program strengths into actionable program improvement.

Green Innovation: Trend Research Using Bibliometric Analysis

Research aims: This study aims to explore and analyze research trends in green innovation. A literature review was used in this study by conducting a bibliometric analysis of green innovation by measuring research trends on green innovation in the last five years. This study also performed descriptive data and analysis on research trends and proposed an agenda for further studies on green innovation. Design/Methodology/Approach: This study approach carried out bibliographical analysis by taking the Scopus Database. Then filtering research articles was carried out in the 2019 – 2021 period. Bibliometric analysis techniques, citation analysis, and co-citation analysis were also conducted.Research findings: This study revealed the nature and direction of research that the green innovation field has undertaken over the past five years. Five clusters existed as themes that appeared in the green innovation literature.Theoretical Contribution/Originality: The theoretical implications of this study provide several important arguments for contributions to the field of green innovation and also contribute to several studies, journals, and institutions that have established studies in this field. Practitioners/Policy Implications: This study contribution to the most influential authors, institutions, and countries related to research on green innovation with possible future research directions.Research Limitations/Implications: This study has provided valuable opportunities to focus on studies only within the scope of green innovation. This study also has contribution to knowledge by considering suggestions for further research.

Searching wide and deep for business model innovation

ABSTRACT To remain competitive, firms must innovate their business models (BMs) to meet the demands of the external environment. Given the severity of external threats or opportunities, managers need to determine the scope of BM innovation (BMI) – how many elements of a BM need to be changed – and the degree of novelty required. However, internal firm knowledge may not be sufficient to conceive of and implement new BMIs. Seeking external knowledge can offer managers diverse perspectives and expertise that should foster BMI, a topic that has been insufficiently addressed in the literature. To address this gap, we investigate whether firms that engage in external knowledge search are more likely to engage in BMI and whether different external knowledge sourcing strategies are associated with different BMI types. Analysing Norwegian firm-level data, we find a close association between a firm’s choice of external knowledge search activity in terms of breadth and depth and the scope and novelty of a BMI. The wider a firm’s search, the wider its BMI scope, and the deeper that search, the more novel its BMI. Our findings contribute new, empirically supported insights on external knowledge search as an important antecedent to BMI. For practitioners, our findings illustrate how different search strategies help firms initiate and implement different types of BMI.

Research on the Practice of Teaching Reform in Colleges and Universities Based on Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education

In today’s rapidly changing society, higher education is facing an urgent need to cultivate talents with innovative spirit and entrepreneurial ability. As the requirement of adapting to the development of the era, innovation and entrepreneurship education has gradually become one of the important directions of teaching reform in colleges and universities. This article aims to explore its role and significance in improving the quality of education, cultivating students’ comprehensive quality, and promoting social and economic development through in-depth research on the teaching reform practice in colleges and universities based on innovation and entrepreneurship education. The research will focus on the practical cases of innovation and entrepreneurship education in different universities, combining qualitative and quantitative research methods, from multiple dimensions such as curriculum design, teaching mode, and practice platform construction, to comprehensively analyze the scope and methods of innovation and entrepreneurship education in the teaching reform of universities, in order to provide useful guidelines for the reform of higher education.
