Global Change in a Material World.

The biological structures that fill the environment around us are derived from materials produced by organisms. These biological materials are key to the mechanical function of organisms. The pathways and growth processes that produce biological materials can influence the mechanical properties of the materials, which can in turn shape the higher-level function of the system into which the materials are incorporated. Characterizing a biological system requires thorough knowledge of the underlying materials, including their mechanical function, diversity, evolution, and sensitivity to the environment. Anthropogenic activity is driving rapid and widespread changes to the natural environment and global climate, which are influencing organismal growth and physiology in myriad ways. Here, we briefly introduce a collection of articles that focus on the intersection of anthropogenic activity and the mechanical function of biological materials, as part of the "Global Change in a Material World" bundle for Integrative and Comparative Biology. In addition, we provide an analysis of the current scientific literature in this field, highlighting an urgent need to better understand how changes to our world, driven by human activity, are influencing the fundamental architecture and mechanical performance of organisms across the globe.

Manageability of youth media volunteering: characteristics of activity and organizational conditions

The article is devoted to the study of the experience of young Russians in media volunteering, with the objective of identifying the potential of this type of prosocial activity and determining the conditions for its expansion among youth. The analysis of scientific literature and the results of a sociological survey of youth in the Sverdlovsk region aged 14 to 35 years enabled us to identify the factors and characteristics that facilitate the activation of the subjectivity of the youth in media volunteer initiatives. It was found that in order to increase the manageability of digital volunteering among youth, potential media volunteers must understand the value of their activities in the media. It is necessary to expand interaction not only between the organizers of volunteer activities and volunteers, but also between volunteers and beneficiaries. This condition is also connected with the need to broadcast in the public space both the initiatives themselves and the qualitative changes in the lives of beneficiaries that have occurred thanks to the help of media volunteers. The next important element is the choice of communication channel with potential volunteers. Social networks and online platforms are the most convenient and easy to use for both the organizers and the volunteers themselves. It has been demonstrated that if modern youth possess fundamental digital literacy skills, the primary motivation for participation in media volunteer initiatives among young Ural residents is the prospect of acquiring new knowledge and skills for their professional development. The study indicated that for the effective management of this type of volunteering, a supportive digital environment, which is currently being established in our country through the implementation of federal digital platforms, is crucial. Young Russians are well acquainted with both the "Dobro.RF" online platform and the online portal "We decide to". The results obtained can be used by organizers of social projects in the non-profit sector to improve the efficiency of recruiting young volunteers and expand their functionality.

Unveiling Anthraquinones: Diverse Health Benefits of an Essential Secondary Metabolite.

Since ancient times, plants have been used as a remedy for numerous diseases. The pharmacological properties of plants are due to the presence of secondary metabolites like terpenoids, flavonoids, alkaloids, etc. Anthraquinones represent a group of naturally occurring quinones found generously across various plant species. Anthraquinones attract a significant amount of attention due to their reported efficacy in treating a wide range of diseases. Their complex chemical structures, combined with inherent medicinal properties, underscore their potential as agents for therapy. They demonstrate several therapeutic properties such as laxative, antitumor, antimalarial, antibacterial, antifungal, antioxidant, etc. Anthraquinones are found in different forms (derivatives) in plants, and they exhibit various medicinal properties due to their structure and chemical nature. The precursors for the biosynthesis of anthraquinones in higher plants are provided by different pathways such as plastidic hemiterpenoid 2-C-methyl-D-erthriol4-phosphate (MEP), mevalonate (MVA), isochorismate synthase and polyketide. By conducting a thorough analysis of scientific literature, this review provides insights into the intricate interplay between anthraquinone biosynthesis and its broad-ranging contributions to human health.

EXPERIMENTAL JUSTIFICATION INFLUENCE OF SPORTS GAMES ON PSYCHO-PHYSIOLOGICAL INDICATORS OF STUDENTS

Relevance of the research topic. A specialist will be able to compete effectively on the labor market only when he is ready for a specific type of activity and will have a sufficient supply of reserve capabilities of the body. Studying the ways of psychoregulation and increasing the level of development of psychophysiological abilities of students is an important problem of the organization of physical education in higher education institutions. The purpose of the research is to experimentally substantiate the effectiveness of the use of means from sports games on the development of psychophysiological abilities of students. Research methods: analysis and generalization of scientific and methodical literature, dynamometry, spatial orientation test, computer program "Psychodiagnostics", methods of mathematical statistics. Research results. During the year, a set of specific exercises aimed at the development of psychophysiological abilities was implemented in the training of students of optional groups in sports games. In order to determine the differences in the impact of various sports in the pedagogical study, optional control groups from power sports and athletics were selected. The indicators of muscle differentiation, spatial orientation, simple visual-motor reaction and reactions of distinction and choice were studied. In the experimental groups, an increase was obtained in all the mentioned tests, but it differed both in terms of indicators and in different game sports, which corresponded to the features of competitive activity. In the control groups, according to some indicators, there were also positive shifts in the development of psychophysiological abilities, but they were not statistically reliable. Conclusions. The specifics of the impact of various sports on students' muscular, spatial sensations and psychomotor skills have been determined. The developed complexes of special means for sports games have shown their effectiveness and can be recommended for their use in the physical education of students for a purposeful effect on psychophysiological abilities.

Understanding the impact of climate change on critical infrastructure through nlp analysis of scientific literature

ABSTRACT Climate change is intensifying natural hazards, putting critical infrastructure systems at risk. The effects of climate change on critical infrastructure can be significant, and communities need to consider these risks when planning and designing infrastructure systems for the future. To that end, natural language processing (NLP) is a promising approach for analyzing large volumes of climate change and infrastructure-related scientific literature. To train a supervised model using NLP techniques, a significant subset of the corpus must be labeled into categories based on user-defined criteria, which is a time-consuming process. To expedite this process, we developed a weak supervision-based approach that leverages semantic similarity between categories and documents to generate category labels for the domain-specific corpus. In comparison with a months-long process of subject-matter expert labeling, we assign category labels to the whole corpus using weak supervision and supervised learning in 13 hours.

THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE AUTHOR'S TECHNOLOGY AIMED AT THE DEVELOPMENT OF STATIC AND DYNAMIC BODY BALANCE OF PRIMARY SCHOOL CHILDREN WITH HEARING DEPRIVATION

The relevance of the research topic. Numerous studies have stated that abnormal child development is always accompanied by motor function disorders and deficits in motor activity. The combination of sensory and motor deprivation causes extraordinary difficulties in the perception, assimilation, retention and reproduction of educational material, and also significantly complicates the life of a child with a disability. The purpose of the article is to determine the effectiveness of the author's technology aimed at the development of static and dynamic body balance of primary school children with hearing deprivation in the process of adaptive physical education. Matherial and Methods. The study involved 8 boys and 11 girls with hearing impairment aged 8 years, who were randomly divided into main groups (GG1, GG2) and control groups (CG1, CG2). The following research methods were used to accomplish the tasks: analysis of scientific literature, pedagogical experiment, stabilography. Mathematical and statistical processing and analysis of data were carried out using the computational and graphical capabilities of the application software packages "Statistica" (StatSoft, version 10.0) and Microsoft Excel 2010. Results. The results obtained during the formative experiment prove the positive influence of the means and methods of the author's technology on the indicators of steady- state body balance (in the Romberg test with open eyes) in girls of 8 years old with hearing impairment GG2the amplitude of oscillations of the total body mass centre (TBC) in the frontal plane of girls of GG2 statistically significantly improved (Т=0; Z=2.20; p=0.028); the amplitude of oscillations of TBC in the sagittal plane of girls of GG2 statistically significantly decreased (Т=0; Z=2.02; p=0.043); there was a statistically significant improvement in the length of the trajectory of the TBC in the frontal and sagittal planes (Т=0; Z=2.20; p=0.028); statistically significant increase in the assessment of the speed of TBC movement of the examined girls (Т=0; Z=2.20; p=0.028); also revealed a statistically significant difference in the indicators of the area of oscillations of the TBC after the experiment of girls of CG2 (T=0; Z=2.02; p=0.043) and girls of GG2 (T=0; Z=2.20; p=0.028); among boys with hearing impairment (GG1) there was a tendency to improve the indicators of steady-state body balance. Calculations were performed by applying the nonparametric Wilcoxon signed rank test for dependent samples.

ASSESSMENT OF PHYSICAL FITNESS OF MATURE WOMEN WITH DIFFERENT TYPES OF POSTURE

Relevance of the research topic. The systematization and generalization of a wide layer of both theoretical developments and practical achievements in the field of physical culture and sports serve as a basis for stating that maturity is the longest period of ontogenesis, characterized by the tendency for a person to achieve the optimal level of development of his spiritual, intellectual and physical potential. Against this background, the age of maturity in women, according to numerous data from representatives of the scientific community, is a period of motor deficit. The consequences of the latter include, first of all, the gradual unfolding of involutional processes, negative changes in the hormonal background, the appearance of excess weight, a decrease in the elasticity of connective tissue, the appearance of the first signs of structural and functional disorders of the spine and joints. The purpose of the article is to determine the level of physical fitness of women aged 36-40 with different types of posture. Methods. Theoretical analysis of special scientific and methodical literature, pedagogical testing, methods of mathematical statistics. The results of the work. The assessment of physical fitness of women in the second half of mature age showed the following. Firstly, it was found that according to tests of strength, endurance and flexibility, women aged 36-38 were more physically fit, performing pull-ups in a lying position mainly at an average level, tilting the torso forward from a sitting position and lifting the torso in a sitting position at a sufficient level. In contrast, the physical fitness of women aged 39-40 years was much worse, in particular, most of them performed lying pull-ups at a low level, torso bending forward from a sitting position and lifting the torso in a sitting position at an average level. Secondly, the comparison of groups of women aged 36-38 and 39-40 years, taking into account the type of their posture, did not reveal any differences in pairs of different ages of each type. At the same time, it was found that women with normal posture performed much better than the other groups in exercises such as flexion and extension of the arms in a lying position, pull-ups in a lying position, and women aged 36-38 years were superior in the test of lifting the torso into a seated position. Accordingly, women with a round, flat back and scoliotic posture were less physically prepared to perform these exercises.

Formation of primary school students’ communicative skills based on teambuilding: potential and awareness assessment

In the article the importance of communication in the infancy of mankind was emphasized for conducting joint economic activity, survival in harsh and dangerous conditions, and in the modern world — for achieving professional goals. The authors note that the society has formed a social order to the education system to develop a competitive personality possessing the basic skills and competencies of the XXI century, one of which is the ability to communicate — to socialize and to cooperate. Based on the analysis of scientific and pedagogical literature and normative documents, it was concluded that it was necessary for the implementation of social orders to pay due attention to the formation of students’ communicative skills. In pedagogical theory and practice, researchers use game technologies, the project method, staging and theatricalization of works of fiction, situational exercises and tasks aimed at the formation of communicative skills. The authors of the article consider the formation of communication skills of younger schoolchildren based on team building. Within the framework of this study, a survey among primary school teachers was conducted and results about the teambuilding awareness, its opportunities in forming student communicative skills were presented

Современные тенденции и проблемы развития института доказывания в гражданском судопроизводстве

The article examines the existing problems of the functioning of the institute of evidence in civil proceedings of the Russian Federation. It is difficult to overestimate the importance of the institution of evidence in civil proceedings. Proving in judicial practice is an indirect human cognition, the authors argue that the subject of this cognition does not just observe or empirically collect information, he analyzes existing facts and makes new conclusions. The authors investigated the theoretical foundations of the functioning of this institute, analyzed statistical data in this area. In the course of the analysis of scientific literature, the authors have formed a wide range of evidentiary tools in Russian civil proceedings. Due to the consideration of real judicial practices, the main gaps in the legal regulation of the mechanism for the use of evidence in civil cases were identified. In conclusion, the options for changing the articles of the CPC of the Russian Federation are proposed, which will improve the mechanism of judicial proceedings.

The purpose of the study is to consider the potential of socio-cultural activities in the creative self-actualization of modern youth, and develop rec-ommendations for increasing the effectiveness of their fullfiling. The recom-mendations (main research results) concerning cultural leisure institutions con-stitute the following: high level of professionalism, morality of specialists hold-ing events for young people; orientation of the younger generation towards universal, spiritual values, development of aesthetic culture as components of the individual’s creative development and self-realization at the proper level; quality, availability of leisure activities for the group. The importance of de-veloping creative youth spaces that open up wide opportunities for creative self-realization is noted and the project idea for creating such a space is high-lighted. The article is based on the axiological approach. The main methods as analysis of scientific literature, questioning have been used.

Urban Transformation of the Dubrovnik Summer Villa Setting—From an Idyllic Landscape to an Overbuilt City

The landscape surrounding a summer villa is, in a morphological and experiential sense, an inseparable part of the villa and its garden. This research examines the level of preservation of the historic landscapes of eight summer villas in Dubrovnik and the level of their integration into the urban fabric of the contemporary city. The research methods used include the analysis of the relevant scientific literature as well as the analysis and interpretation of graphic materials, i.e., cadastral maps from the second half of the 19th century, orthophoto maps, and spatial planning documentation. In this paper, the immediate landscape in close vicinity to the summer villas is defined as the protective zone of a summer villa (PZSV). Although the original use and extent of the summer villa landscapes have rarely been preserved, it is possible to establish PZSVs in order to preserve, i.e., reinterpret, the setting of the summer villas, which is necessary to experience them in their totality. This research establishes the general principles that enable the identification of three general models of transformation of the summer villa landscape. Furthermore, this research develops possible scenarios for the enhancement of the summer villa landscape based on the identified models. These models and scenarios are generally applicable in the context of the protection and enhancement of the summer villa landscapes in of the south of Croatia.

Artificial intelligence in teaching technical English to nuclear engineering students

The paper considers the available artificial intelligence platforms used in the preparation of technical English assignments and the ways of motivation to learn a foreign language as the object of research. The processes of providing motivation for learning are chosen as the subject area. The objective of the research is to show the possibilities and spheres of AI use in foreign language teaching on the basis of analysing the information presented in the public domain about the existing ways of artificial intelligence application in foreign language teaching, as well as the conducted survey of nuclear engineering students. The methods used in the paper were theoretical analysis of scientific literature, analysis of periodicals, analysis of the practical use of AI in the work of teachers of the Department of Foreign Languages, as well as the data of the survey conducted among the students of technical specialities of VETI MEPhI. The main result of the research is the conclusion that the use of AI allows to diversify didactic material, provide motivation of students to master technical English and understand technological processes through the use of video content.

Critical Thinking as a Pedagogical Category: A Comparative Aspect

The article is dedicated to a comparative analysis of critical thinking as a pedagogical category in the works of Ukrainian and foreign researchers. Critical thinking is considered as a necessary component of modern education aimed at developing students' abilities for analysis, synthesis, and making informed decisions in various life situations. Various approaches to the development of critical thinking in education in Ukraine and abroad are analyzed; common and distinctive features in the scientific approaches in the works of Ukrainian and foreign researchers are identified. During the research, methods of comparative analysis, systematic approach, synthesis, and generalization of scientific and pedagogical literature were applied. It is concluded that the development of critical thinking is a key factor in improving the quality of education. It has been proven that the integration of the best foreign practices into Ukrainian educational programs will contribute to the preparation of highly qualified specialists capable of adapting to the conditions of a globalized world. The prospects for further research are outlined, including the development of innovative techniques for the development of critical thinking, taking into account the specifics of Ukrainian education and the needs of modern students.

РЕСУРСИ РЕЗИЛЬЄНТНОСТІ ОСІБ З ТРАВМАТИЧНИМ ДОСВІДОМ

Purpose. Theoretical study of resilience and the resources that determine the difference in its manifestation after critical situations, as well as empirical research on the mechanisms and resources that promote the development of resilience in people with traumatic experiences because of the war in Ukraine. Methods. Methods of theoretical analysis of scientific literature on the problem; methods of empirical research using a set of psychodiagnostic techniques; methods of mathematical statistics. Spearman's rank correlation coefficient was calculated for statistical data processing. Results. According to the results of theoretical analysis, the concept of "resilience" is considered as both a process and an outcome of successful adaptation to difficult life situations, especially through mental, emotional, and behavioral flexibility and adaptation to external and internal challenges. The empirical study revealed positive correlations of psychological resilience with resources (crisis coping strategies) "B – Belief & values" (r=0.591), “C – Cognition, thought” (r=0.540). A directly proportional correlations was also found between the overall impact of the event, the level of intrusion and avoidance with the crisis coping strategy "I – Imagination" (r=0.505; r=0.607; r=0.506), between the level of avoidance and the resource “S – Socialization” (r=0.632), between the level of intrusion and “C – Cognition, thought” (r=0.491). Conclusions. Individuals whose crisis coping strategies are based on faith (in God, in people, in miracles, or in themselves and their mission), belief systems, values and meanings, the activation of mental abilities, the ability to think logically and critically, assess situations, learn new ideas, plan, gather information, analyze problems, and solve them rationally, exhibit higher resilience indicators. Those who have higher level of impact of event and manifestations of specific PTSD symptoms more frequently use imagination, memories, and creativity to cope with crises. The level of avoidance positively correlates with the use of social ties, social support, and communication to cope with crises, and the level of intrusion positively correlates with the use of cognition and cognitive strategies.

Anticancer properties of 1,2,4-triazole derivatives (literature review)

Cancer is still one of the leading causes of death worldwide. Statistical data show that more than 130,000 people in Ukraine receive this diagnosis as a sentence every year. Cancer can affect any organ and eventually the whole body. In most cases, cancer is a tumor affecting epithelial, mucous, muscle, fat, and bone tissues. Also, processes related to malignant formations can occur in the blood and lymph. The main mechanism that triggers the process of formation of neoplasms is a violation of growth and, accordingly, cell division. They begin to grow uncontrollably, multiply, and can also migrate, spreading to nearby tissue structures, and later degenerate into atypical (malignant) ones. Cancer is one of the most life-threatening diseases. Literature data show that more than 90 % of cancer patients die due to chronic metastases. Cancer therapy involves the use of drugs that block the growth and spread of cancer cells by affecting certain molecular structures involved in the growth, progression, and spread of cancer. The diversity of the use of means for cancer therapy, namely, hormone therapy, the use of angiogenesis inhibitors and apoptosis inducers, has provided scientists with various options for finding effective means to fight this disease. Aim. The aim of the work is the analysis and systematization of new data on the anticancer activity of 1,2,4-triazole derivatives and the selection of the most promising directions for further scientific research based on the results of the analysis. Materials and methods. The study employed various methods, including analysis, information search, bibliosemantic analysis, descriptive techniques, and generalization. Research materials primarily comprised literary sources containing information on the promising array of new biologically active compounds, particularly 1,2,4-triazole derivatives, known for their targeted anticancer properties. Results. A literature search was carried out, 1,2,4-triazole derivatives with antitumor activity were analysed, characterized and summarized. Based on the study of available information and conducting an information and patent search, it was established that the market of Ukraine is insufficiently saturated with 1,2,4-triazole-containing drugs with anticancer activity of domestic production. It was determined that the development of new effective drugs based on 1,2,4-triazole and potential drugs with clearly directed anticancer activity requires a systematic approach both in conducting synthetic tests and screening new compounds for further structural optimization of molecules. Conclusions. The analysis of scientific literature in recent years devoted to the study of the anticancer activity of 1,2,4-triazole derivatives convincingly proves the prospect of further research in this direction. Numerous publications indicate the possibility of constant improvement of molecules with regard to the presence of anticancer activity. Domestic and foreign authors have clearly and argumentatively proven the perspective of the scientific direction for the creation of new original drugs to combat various oncopathologies.

Energy Intensity Forecasting Models for Manufacturing Industries of “Catching Up” Economies: Lithuanian Case

The objective of this research was to construct energy intensity forecasting models for key manufacturing industries, with a particular focus on “catching up” European economies. Future energy intensity values serve as the foundation for energy demand forecasts, which are essential inputs for the analysis of countries’ decarbonisation scenarios. The Lithuanian case is analysed in the context of its efforts to reach the economic development level of the most advanced European Union (EU) countries. The scientific literature and energy policy analysis, interdependence (correlation and regression), tendency and case analysis, logical economic reasoning, and graphical representation methods have been applied. The energy intensity forecasts until 2050 were based on historical statistical data of value added and final energy consumption of EU countries from 2000 to 2021. The analysis of historical trends revealed a remarkable decrease in industrial energy intensity in most EU countries, including Lithuania. Given the rapid pace of decline in historical energy intensity, the values observed in individual Lithuanian industries have already reached levels comparable to the most economically advanced EU countries. Four econometric trendlines were employed to construct forecasting models for energy intensity. The results for Lithuania demonstrated that the selected trendlines exhibited a high degree of fit with historical energy intensity data from the EU, as evidenced by their R2 values. Furthermore, the forecasts were shown to be highly accurate, with their MAPEs remaining below 10% in most cases. Nevertheless, the logarithmic trendline was found to be the most accurate for forecasting energy intensity in total manufacturing (MAPE = 4.0%), non-metallic minerals (MAPE = 3.5%), and food, beverages, and tobacco (MAPE = 4.1%) industries, with the exponential trendline in the chemical industry (MAPE = 8.7%) and the moving average in the total manufacturing industry (MAPE = 4.0%), food industries (MAPE = 4.0%), and remaining aggregate industries (MAPE = 14.5%). It is forecasted that energy intensity could decline by 8 to 16% to 1.10–1.20 kWh/EUR in Lithuania’s manufacturing industries by 2050.

Axiological foundations of a journalist's professional activity

The professional activity of a journalist has a clearly expressed value character, reflecting the ideological and ethical principles of this field. This article analyzes the following values of journalism: 1. The principle of humanity, based on humanistic ideals and responsible attitude towards people. 2. The principle of truthfulness, which implies the accuracy of information transmission and interpretation of facts as a professional duty. 3. The principle of honesty, which assumes not only the prevention of misleading the audience, but also the refusal to harm people. 4. The principle of responsibility, which includes a set of requirements for professionalism, text quality, objectivity and balance. These value orientations represent ideal entities existing in the world of due and target orientations. Being rooted in the philosophical tradition, they streamline and fill the professional activity of journalists with evaluative content, determining its orientation towards serving society and affirming humanistic ideals. The following methods are used in the work: 1. Theoretical analysis of philosophical and scientific literature on the problem of axiological foundations of journalism. 2. A comparative analytical method used in comparing various concepts of values in the philosophical tradition. 3. An interpretive method used for meaningful analysis and evaluative filling of the value principles that form the axiological basis of the professional activity of journalists. Summarizing, we can say that the value system of journalism is characterized by the principles of humanity, truthfulness, honesty and responsibility. These values reflect the ideological and ethical basis of the professional activity of journalists. The analysis allows us to conclude that the values of journalism are ideological and ethical. The key value principles in this professional field are humanity, truthfulness, honesty and responsibility. These values represent the normative guidelines of journalists' consciousness and behavior, which streamline and fill their professional activities with evaluative content. Rooted in the philosophical tradition, they are interpreted as ideal entities existing in a world of due and purpose. Thus, the axiological basis of journalism determines its orientation towards truth, service to society and affirmation of humanistic ideals. This value system sets the ethical vector of media communications, making journalism a socially responsible profession.

Character conflicts in the work of Dina Rubina

The subject of the study is the conflicts between the characters in the works of Dina Rubina – "Lubka", "On the Upper Maslovka", and the object is the work of Dina Rubina as a whole. This article analyzes the conflicts that arise between the characters in the literary works of the famous Russian writer Dina Rubina: "Lyubka", "On the Upper Maslovka". Through the clash of characters, the author of the article discusses how Rubina reveals the complex vicissitudes of human life, emotional experiences and psychological drama. Readers can follow the development of conflicts, their impact on the fate of characters and how they help to reveal the main ideas of each work. The thematic aspects of Dina Rubina's works and their relationship with conflicts between characters are also highlighted. Special attention is paid to the analysis of psychological aspects and the depth of characterization of the characters, so that readers can fully sympathize with them and plunge into the unique world created by the author. Research methods include the analysis of scientific literature on the research topic, critical analysis of texts, comparative analysis and generalization of the data obtained. The scientific novelty of this study lies in the fact that it is aimed at identifying and systematizing character conflicts in Rubina's stories and represents the first experience of a comprehensive analysis of this issue. Summing up the impact of conflicts on the artistic value of Dina Rubina's works, we can say that they create realism and depth of works. The conflict allows us to reveal the complexity of the inner world of the characters and put them in front of a serious moral choice. FROM THE HISTORY OF THE ALASH MOVEMENT’S SOCIO-POLITICAL ACTIVITIES DURING THE CIVIL WAR

The relevance of the study is conditioned by the need to expand the amount of available information on the history of socio-political movements during the Civil War in the Russian Empire. In this regard, the purpose of this study is to reveal the essence of the Alash movement in Kazakhstan, its socio-political activities, and the consequences of the Civil War. The method of critical analysis was chosen as the primary approach, which facilitated the effective processing of archival and scientific sources of information, based on which further research was conducted. The following methods of scientific cognition were also used: historical and genetic, historical and system, diachronic analysis, heuristic, synthesis, deduction, and comparison. This study examines the establishment and activities of Alash Autonomy, analyzing archival facts and papers by Kazakh and foreign researchers. It cites eyewitness accounts, explores the political structure, evaluates leaders' actions, and explains intelligence work's consequences. It justifies changes in allies, details Alash-Soviet Russia cooperation, and describes outcomes. The materials of this research paper are of practical value for historical science due to the presented assessment of data on the Alash movement, analysis of scientific literature, observation and discussion presented in this study.

Methods for Measuring the Impact of Sustainable Tourism Development on Climate and Environment

Climate and environmental change is a growing topic in the post-Covid-1, when tourism growth is recovering. Tourism is a significant polluter of the environment and a rapid response to climate change is needed. Methods for assessing the climate and environmental impact of sustainable tourism development help to measure and communicate the environmental impact of tourism activities, but they are difficult to select and often lack indicators. The aim of the study was to choose methods for assessing the climate and environmental impact of sustainable tourism development in the context of Latvia. The study was based on the analysis of scientific literature, the grouping of methods for assessing the climate and environmental impact of sustainable tourism development according to their functional characteristics i.e. "preventive", "protective", "estimating" and "carbon emission determining" methods. A multi-criteria decision-making method was used for the selection of evaluation methods - Analytical hierarchy process with empirical analysis (AHA) of the obtained weights. By summarising the environmental and climate indicators available for a specific region of Latvia regarding the impact of tourism and experts evaluating the obtained results, the most suitable method for evaluating the impact of tourism development on the climate and environment is the Tourism value chain for low carbon content and efficient use of resources. However, the authors' recommendation for researchers: 1) when evaluating the impact of tourism development on the climate and environment, the choice of method ought to be based on evaluation indicators available for a specific study; 2) in research combinations of sets of "evaluative" and "carbon emission determining” methods should be used.
