Analysis of counselor task commitment as a professional characteristic in junior and senior high schools in West Sumatra

Task commitment is an important thing for counselors to have so that the counseling profession provides professional services to various stakeholders. This research aims to look at the job commitment profile of middle school and high school level counselors so that it can be used as an evaluation regarding the counselor's current performance or services. The population in this study were counselors in eight cities in West Sumatra. This study uses a quantitative approach. The research sample was determined using an accidental sampling technique (convenience sampling), namely the sampling process simply involves taking the counselors the observer meets in the field. The research sample obtained was 86 counselors. The data collection technique was carried out by distributing questionnaires. The collected data was analyzed quantitatively using the SPSS 25 for Windows program and the Excel application for processing quantitative descriptive analysis, categorization and percentages and producing graphical data. The research results show that the majority of counselors' task commitment is in the very high category for all indicators, namely tough attitude, tenacity, not getting bored easily, independence, courage to take risks, desire to improve themselves, and desire to succeed.

Development of Interactive Media Using Macromedia Flash 8 Software in Natural Sciences Subjects in Elementary Schools

This research aims to develop interactive media using Macromedia Flash 8 software in science and technology subjects in elementary schools. This research uses a Research and Development (RD) approach with the Analysis, Design, Develop, Implement, Evaluate (ADDIE) model. It was conducted at three elementary schools in West Sumatra with fourth-grade students as research subjects. Qualitative and quantitative data were obtained from teacher and student practicality questionnaires, as well as evaluation tests in the form of pretest and posttest. Data collection utilized validation sheets, questionnaires, and evaluation tests. The results of the interactive multimedia validity test based on Macromedia Flash 8 were found to be in a very valid category (scoring 81-100% based on expert assessments) with an average percentage of 90%. The practicality assessment yielded an average percentage of 88.5% in the highly practical category (scoring 85.01-100%). The effectiveness evaluation resulted in an N-Gain Score (a metric measuring the increase between pre and post-test scores) of 0.77, indicating a high level of gain, and a percentage of 77.87 in the effective category.The evaluations affirm that Macromedia Flash 8-based interactive media is valid, practical, effective, and suitable for educational use in enhancing science learning for elementary students. The findings have implications for integrating such multimedia tools in science curriculum design and teacher training to facilitate more engaging and effective delivery of abstract scientific concepts. Future research could explore wider implementation and long-term impacts on student learning outcomes.

Geometry ability in Senior High School Students: Based on Learning Style

Geometry becomes an important component in mathematics which is learned by students at every stage. Learning style is one of the factors that influence students' geometry abilities. Therefore, it is important to describe how students' geometry abilities are viewed from learning styles. This research is quantitative descriptive research. The instruments used were a learning style questionnaire and a van hiele thinking test (VHGT). The data analysis technique used is descriptive statistical techniques with percentages, namely data from geometry tests that are successfully collected and then analyzed using a category assessment scale. The instruments used were the learning style questionnaire and the Van Hiele thinking test (VHGT). The research subjects were 276 high school students from eleven different schools in West Sumatra with the dominant learning style being visual as many as 104 students, followed by auditory as many as 98 and kinesthetic as many as 74. The results showed that the average students' geometric ability was 47.4 (on a scale of 0-100). In addition, students with a visual learning style have a higher average geometric ability compared to other learning styles. Therefore, it is hoped that teachers can consider using learning models that apply the Van Hiele level of thinking and the dominant learning style in geometry classes, for example by integrating technology.

STUDI LITERATUR : PENGARUH PENGGUNAAN PHET SIMULATION MENING-KATKAN KETERAMPILAN BERPIKIR KRITIS SISWA DALAM ERA SOCIETY 5.0

Since the birth of industry 4.0, almost all aspects of life have been projected onto the virtual world or the internet. Then followed again with society 5.0 which was initiated by the Japanese government. One of the SDGs goals that must be realized is the existence of quality education. Not a few teachers have difficulty in teaching during online learning. This is proven by learning at a school in West Sumatra which often only uses WhatsApp groups. The main point of the problem is that teachers or students do not master technology and learning that requires experiments in the laboratory cannot be done, especially physics. One of the effective efforts made by teachers to overcome these problems is to use appropriate learning models with the help of PhET simulation to improve students' critical thinking skills in the era of society 5.0. The analysis was carried out by collecting five national articles. The selected article category is based on the use of PhET Simulation in physics learning to improve critical thinking skills of high school/vocational high school students. The use of gallery walk, generative, inquiry, and quantum learning models assisted by PhET Simulation in physics learning has an effect on increasing students' critical thinking skills.

AI-Enhanced Teaching Materials for Education: A Shift Towards Digitalization

Considering recent technological advances and the growing prevalence of digitalization, Islamic educational instruction and training will need to adopt a fresh perspective. The field of artificial intelligence offers a path for additional research that has the potential to have a favorable impact on both the efficiency and the development of competencies. This article describes the process followed to create multimedia-based teaching materials for Islamic religious education subjects used in Senior High Schools in West Sumatra. These materials were designed to assist Islamic education students with their academic pursuits. While developing this model, the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) services that Dick and Carry developed were utilized during the design phase. In Islamic education, students engage in hands-on learning by interacting with previously crafted designs and observing how an evaluation of the model is built through time. These findings, implications, and potential future research areas involving artificial intelligence in Islamic religious education and training at Indonesia's senior high school level will be discussed.

GeoSMART: A New Approach to Learning Geography in The 21st Century

The development of human life in the 21st century requires teachers to be more creative in designing learning that is more interesting, challenging and impressive. Interesting learning is learning that is presented with the teacher's brilliant ideas in the form of methods, media and learning resources. Challenging learning can be defined as learning that is able to develop students' reasoning, critical thinking and analytical skills. Meanwhile, impressive learning is learning that is framed by example, character and universal human values. The GEOSMART approach was developed as an alternative solution to the problem of Geography learning which is still teacher-centred, has minimal student involvement and limited use of technology. There are five elements in the GEOSMART approach, namely, 1) scientific, 2) measurable, 3) applicable, 4) reasoning and 5) technology. Development is carried out using the Plomp model. The results of validation by experts show that the development product is in the very valid category. Meanwhile, the practicality test results show that the development product is in the very practical category. The results of effectiveness tests based on the results of experimental research in seven schools in West Sumatra show that the GeoSMART approach can improve student learning outcomes, especially student involvement in learning and critical thinking abilities.

Implementasi Pelaksanaan Projek PenguatanProfil Pelajar Pancasila Kurikulum Merdeka di SMK Negeri 1 Pantai Cermin

This Community Service is carried out by providing guidance related to the implementation of the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project known as P5, which is part of the new Independent Curriculum implemented at SMK Negeri 1 Pantai Cermin in the 2022/2023 academic year after previously being preceded by Piloting schools at the Centre of Excellence (PK) in five schools in West Sumatra. The method of implementing this Community Service was preceded by analysing the school’s needs by conducting a survey of the school. The survey found that the school had just implemented the independent curriculum and still needed understanding about implementing the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5). The purpose of carrying out community service related to implementing the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project, which 30 teachers attended. It is hoped that the school has implemented it well and certainly increases the understanding of teachers, especially class X teachers who are implementing and providing understanding to class XI and XII teachers to plan the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project, which will also be implemented in subsequent years.

Manajemen Pembiayaan di Sekolah Luar Biasa dalam Meningkatkan Kualitas Pendidikan: Studi Kasus SLB di Padang

Running a private special school has its own difficulties, particularly when it comes to budget management. The effectiveness of an educational institution's financial management will undoubtedly have an influence on raising educational standards. The goal of this study is to examine how special schools handle their finances to raise educational standards. A case study methodology was employed in this qualitative research project at one of the private special schools in West Sumatra's Tanjung Raya sub-district. The foundation's director, the principal, and the treasurer served as the study's subjects. This study employed a variety of data gathering techniques, including documentation, interviews, and observation. The data was then examined via conclusion drawing, data reduction, and data display. According to the findings of this research, Tanjung Raya Special School has not implemented the planning, organizing, executing, and monitoring phases of financial management to their fullest potential. However, principals, teachers, and staff collaborate to manage school funding in order to raise educational standards in terms of infrastructure, amenities, and teacher welfare. Infrastructure and school facilities are in line with national education standards, and the provincial office's policies on teachers' welfare have been changed. It may be said that special school Tanjung Raya is doing its utmost to raise academic standards despite having less funding since they haven't yet gotten BOS grants.

The Interest of Beauty Vocational High School Students to Study in Higher Education

This research is motivated by the number of Beauty Vocational School students in West Sumatra who have low interest in continuing their education at the Department of Make-up and Beauty at the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality. It is influenced by internal factors and external factors. This study aims to 1) determine the interest of SMK Negeri Beauty students in West Sumatra to continue the Makeup and Beauty Education Study Program at the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality in terms of internal factors (Attention, Feelings of Pleasure and Strength of Motives). Then in terms of external factors (teachers, parents and peers). The type of research used is quantitative research. The research subjects were STUDENTS of the Beauty Vocational High School in West Sumatra. Meanwhile, the object of the research is the factors that influence students' interest in continuing their education in the Department of Make-up and Beauty at the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality. The sampling technique in this study is proportional random sampling. Data collection techniques using a questionnaire. The implementation of the questionnaire trial to the respondents of the trial was 217 people. The data in this study were analyzed by statistical analysis. The data in terms of internal factors were already in moderate interpretation. Then in terms of external factors, it is already in moderate interpretation.

Development of Thematic Teaching Materials Using the Kvisoft Flipbook Maker Application with 4-D models in Elementary Schools

The rapid development of technology has had a significant impact on various sectors, especially in the field of education. One of the developments in the field of education is electronic teaching materials. The data obtained in this study were obtained from observation and analysis of the needs of teachers and students at three state elementary schools in west sumatra. The method to be used in this research activity uses Research and Development (RD) using the 4D model. The 4-D model consists of four stages, namely defining design, development and implementation. Prior to performance, the product first goes through the validity stage by experts in their respective fields, researching using aspects of language, content, presentation and graphics to carry out validity. However, because some of the constraints of this research only extend to development, after expert validation tests and practicality of students and teachers have been carried out, it can be concluded that thematic teaching materials using the inquiry method-based Flipbook application are categorized as very valid and can be implemented.

Identification and Analysis of the Design Process of Character Education for Students in Islamic Boarding Schools in West Sumatra

At the Miftahul Ulumi Syar’iyah Canduang Islamic boarding school, the vision and mission are seamlessly woven into the educational fabric, embracing diverse dimensions of character development outlined by religious and governmental directives. Through a collective effort, school administrators and teachers utilize these foundational principles to foster students' character growth, extending into extracurricular activities both within and outside the school premises. Researchers seek to investigate and evaluate the character education model implemented at the Miftahul Ulumi Syar’iyah Canduang Islamic boarding school, employing a descriptive methodology that encompasses field research techniques. Teachers oversee student activities throughout lessons and extracurriculars, ensuring active participation and guidance. The educational approach divides into intracurricular and extracurricular realms, with teachers directing classroom engagement and extracurricular pursuits occurring outside regular hours. Teacher evaluations, conducted weekly or monthly, monitor progress. The head of curriculum notes improved discipline and manners among students, reflecting positive character education outcomes.

Implementasi Kurikulum Merdeka pada Tingkat Satuan Pendidikan SMA: Tinjauan Perencanaan IKM

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, education in Indonesia needs to make adjustments so that the implementation of education can continue. One of the policies carried out by the government under the auspices of the Ministry of Education and Culture was to implement the Emergency Curriculum (simplified Curriculum-2013). Over time, the government prepared a new curriculum prototype which has now been formalized as the Independent Curriculum. The implementation of the Independent Curriculum (IKM) begins in stages in schools called “Sekolah Penggerak”. This research was conducted to find out how the planning and design stages of IKM were carried out by a Sekolah Penggerak in one of the schools in West Sumatra. Data obtained from observations and interviews conducted with informants who know and are involved in IKM. Based on the results of the research that has been done, it was found that the initial step taken by the school as a driving school was to form a Curriculum Development Team (TPK) which would later coordinate with the provincial TPK. Some of the activities that have been carried out by TPK schools were observed. The preparations that have been made to become a driving school are (1) conducting training for teachers, (2) forming a learning committee, (3) compiling the Curriculum of Education Unit Operational (KOSP), (4) preparing curriculum tools such as KSOP, Outcomes Learning (CP), Learning Objective Flow (ATP), teaching modules, and strategies for implementing project-based learning or projects to strengthen the profile of Pancasila students. Apart from that, the things that schools have prepared in facing an independent curriculum are (1) studying and understanding the regulations regarding an independent curriculum, (2) coordinating with all teacher boards, and 3) adopting a level of complexity curriculum.

Students' Environmentally-Friendly Behavior: The Mediating Effect Investigation

The discovery of problems linked to environmentally-friendly behavior and several antecedent factors motivates this study. This study examines the effect of environmental physics understanding, scientific reasoning, and environmental behavior intentions on environmentally-friendly behavior and investigates the mediating role of scientific reasoning and environmental behavior intentions. This quantitative study used an associative approach. The research population was high schoolers in West Sumatra. The research sample was 407 high schoolers in West Sumatra, obtained through convenience sampling. Data were collected by applying a questionnaire. The research objectives were answered with a structural equation modeling approach. In this study, environmental physics understanding, scientific reasoning, and environmental behavior intentions are significant predictors of environmentally-friendly behavior. The results show that scientific reasoning had a mediating effect on the relationship between environmental physics understanding and environmentally-friendly behavior (β= 0.098, t = 1.794, p-value = 0.006). The environmental behavior intention has no mediating effect on the relationship between scientific reasoning on environmentally-friendly behavior (β= 0.045, t = 1.843, p-value = 0.066) and environmental physics understanding on environmentally-friendly behavior (β = 0.018, t = 1.467, p-value = 0.143). This study has limitations where data are only collected in high schools in West Sumatra, so generalizations are limited. Cross-sectional data add a further limitation to it. Conversely, this research augments the current literature on environmental physics understanding, scientific reasoning, and environmental behavior intentions by focusing on previously unstudied environmentally-friendly behavior. Furthermore, this study offers a novel theoretical explanation for the relationship between realizing the mediating role of scientific reasoning and environmental behavior intentions.

Sekitar Pendirian Sampai Periode Awal MAN Insan Cendekia Padang Pariaman : Studi Sejarah Lembaga

This study discusses the development of the Padang Pariaman Scholars MAN in 2016-2022. The research aims to determine the background of the establishment of MAN Insan Cendekia in Padang Pariaman Regency and its development in 2016-2022. This study uses historical methods consisting of historographic steps, namely heuristics, verification, interpretation and historiography. The results of this study indicate that MAN Insan Cendekia was born on the idea of ​​the Head of the Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT) held by Prof. Dr. ing. Bacharuddin Jusuf Habibie who wants a balance of mastery of Science and Technology for productive Muslim student generations. After being delegated its management to the Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia in 2001, over time MAN Insan Cendekia has grown to West Sumatra. The selection of Padang Pariaman Regency as the location for MAN Insan Cendekia is because the location is strategically close to government offices and international airports, the condition of the land is wide and flat, the conditions of the environment are beautiful and far from the crowds. In 2022 MAN Insan Scholar Padang Pariaman succeeded in obtaining the first position as the best school in West Sumatra and producing alumni who are spread both at home and abroad. The presence of MAN Insan Cendekia has an economic and socio-cultural impact on the surrounding community, such as providing livelihoods for local residents and repairing the road to MAN IC has a positive impact on the community.

Five Souls-Based Character Education at Tahfizul Quran Boarding School

Pesantren prioritizes spiritual improvement and good character for students based on the five souls (panca jiwa). When the soul or mind is stable, it can automatically reveal good character and qualities. The value of the five souls is a combination of various crystallizations of pesantren values, which must be integrated and taught in all santri (Islamic Students) activities. Five souls are enthusiastically assimilated in doing all activities to awaken other positive characters. The discussion aims to find out the form of internalization of character education based on the five souls at the Tahfizul Quran Boarding School in West Sumatra. This research approach is the descriptive-qualitative approach. The discussion results showed that the five young souls are honest, independent, brotherly, and free spirits to prepare the concluding virtuous, noble, and meaningful individuals in better directions in life. Values were instilled by the following methods: the exemplary method, the habitual method, giving advice, methods of motivation and threats, methods of persuasion, and the story method. Supporting factors for implementing character education have good management performance, the active role of the kiai as the pesantren leader and the ustaz with high discipline. The obstacles are students' lack of awareness and willingness to follow the pesantren education system, the difficulty of adjusting to pesantren activities, and not all students being able to comply.

Shiāghatu Manhaji Qism Ta’līm al-Lughah al-‘Arabiyyah bi Jāmi’ati Batu Sangkar al-Islāmiyyah al-Hukumiyyah wa ‘Alāqatihaa bi Manhaj al-Lughah al-‘Arabiyyah fī al-Madrasah al-Mutawasithah

This research aims to describe how the approach to curriculum development of the Arabic language department at Batusankar State Islamic University, implementation of Arabic curricula in MTs / West Sumatra, relationship of the Arabic language curriculum of Batusankar State Islamic University with the achievement of the objectives of the Arabic curricula MTs / in West Sumatra. This research uses a qualitative design, with a multi-faceted approach to discuss the synchronization of the curricula of Arabic education departments with Arabic language teaching in MTs/ in West Sumatra and then obtaining this research data using documentation, observation and in-depth interview techniques. Then validate the data correctly, constraints by triangulating the data. The results showed that the curriculum of the Arabic language department at Batusankar State Islamic University is the result of "institutional union" respectively, not "structural union". The “institutional” results development model is called the grass-roots model with an academic subject approach. The Arab Curriculum Development Model for West Sumatra District Managers follows a “linear pillars” or “top-down” line of command procedure. The implementation plan for the implementation of the Arab curriculum for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is implemented by Salbous and the Learning Implementation Plan (RPP) / preparation and implementation of a curriculum that cannot be separated. So that its maintenance is considered a unified unit. Then between the curriculum of the State Islamic University of Batusankar, the achievement of the objectives of the Arabic curricula, the MTs / middle school in West Sumatra has a relevant relationship. Peran Kampus Mengajar dalam Meningkatkan Literasi, Numerasi dan Adaptasi Teknologi Peserta Didik Sekolah Dasar di Sumatera Barat

This study aims to determine the role of the Kampus Mengajar in improving literacy, numeracy and technological adaptation of elementary school students in West Sumatra in order to improve the quality of education. This type of research uses a descriptive qualitative approach. This research was conducted for six months. The location of this study was carried out in three elementary schools in West Sumatra, namely SD Negeri 18 Anduring Padang, SD-IT Ar-Rahman Palangki, Sijunjung Regency and SD-IT Medina Lengayang Pesisir Selatan. Procedures, techniques and instruments of data collection using observation, interviews and documentation. So it can be concluded that the Kampus Mengajar in improving literacy, numeracy and technological adaptation has an important and successful role in running its program which is assisted by students and the support of the school and students.

Peningkatan Keterampilan Sosial Anak Berkebutuhan Khusus Melalui Strategi Pembelajaran Station Rotation Berbasis Tiered Task (Studi Eksperimen di Sekolah Inklusif Sumatera Barat)

The government's declaration of quality education equality is evidenced in the implementation of inclusive education which is in line with the philosophy of education for all. One of the learning strategies that accommodate differences in student learning needs is differentiated learning, using the Station Rotation (SR) strategy with Tiered Task (TT). The problem is that not all-inclusive schools have implemented this strategy in learning. This article aims to prove the effectiveness of implementing the SR learning strategy with TT towards improving the social skills of students with special needs (SSN) in inclusive schools. This study used an experiment, with 17 teachers participating in four inclusive schools in West Sumatra which included subject and classroom teachers, 8 observers, and 85 SSN with various types of special needs. Data were collected by observation, documentation, and questionnaires. The results showed that there was a significant effect of the SR learning strategy with TT on improving general social skills, during learning, and in the classroom environment for special needs children in inclusive schools. This increase occurs because SR and TT emphasize the flexibility of SSN in choosing study groups, evaluation of learning based on SSN abilities, and can increase positive relationships and eliminate obstacles that SSN has.

Development of 5.0 based learning devices using wordpress websites

This study aims to describe and explain the validity of the device, the practicality of the learning device, and the effectiveness of the learning device through word press media for high school in West Sumatra. This research method is a development model. The test subjects in this development research were high school students from the city of Padang. Instruments used to collect data in this study include: validity instruments, practicality instruments and effectiveness instruments. Data obtained through various instruments qualitatively and quantitatively. The findings in this study are First, the validity of the wordpress-based economic textbook learning tool with a very valid level of validity for linguists. Second, Validity of lesson plans and syllabus learning tools on wordpress-based economic subjects with a level of validity for linguists is very valid. Third, the validity of LKS learning tools on wordpress-based economic subjects with a very valid level of validity for language experts.

Ta’allum al-Lughah al-Àrabiyyah fi Dhau’ al-Biah li Tahfiz at-Thullab a’la al-Tahaddus biha fi al-Maáhid al-Islamiyyah Sumatra al-Gharbiyyah

This study aims to describe the environment-based students’ motivation to learn Arabic in Islamic Boarding schools in West Sumatra. Motivation is seen from its intrinsic and extrinsic aspects. This research employed qualitative approach with data collection techniques carried out by observation, interviews, documentation, and questionnaires. Data analysis techniques were carried out by triangulation of observational data, document analysis, documentation, and descriptive statistic. The findings indicate that Islamic boarding schools in West Sumatra were employing environment-based Arabic learning and it was evident that the approach improves students’ speaking skills and generates motivation to them. Intrinsic motivation encourages student to speak arabic, which is indicated by the desire to discuss arabic languange materials and is categorized as “ very well ”.“ student learning desire”was also raised on the aspek “seriousness of doing learning tasks” which is showing at the “very well”category, and on the aspect of “students’ desire to progress” showed the “good” category. In short, the environmental approach sheds light on learning Arabic as it improves students’ engagement in speaking Arabic.
