Edukasi Kesehatan Gigi dan Mulut Melalui Media Pembelajaran Berbasis Interaktif pada Siswa SDN Inpres Tamamaung 4 Kota Makassar

Background: Children who experience dental and oral health problems can experience a decline in quality. At the age of elementary school children, it is necessary for business actors to maintain dental and oral health regularly, both in counseling, examinations and dental and oral health care, by parents, schools and related government agencies. Elementary school age is the ideal time to train children's motor skills, including brushing their teeth. In addition, school age has shown learning sensitivity according to children's curiosity. Objective: To provide dental and oral health education through interactive learning media to students of SDN Inpres Tamamaung 4, Makassar City in 2022. Method: This community service is carried out by providing counseling, using media, namely back and forth worksheets, animated films, and puzzle games that aim to create two-way communication and make students active. Respondents in this community service were 3rd grade students of SDN Inpres Tamamaung 4, Makassar City in 2022. Results: There were 5 respondents (25%) with a good level of knowledge before being given facilities increasing to 14 (70%), there were 5 respondents (25%) with a sufficient level of knowledge before being given facilities decreasing to 4 (20%), and there were 10 respondents (50%) with a level of knowledge before being given facilities decreasing to 2 respondents (10%). Conclusion: Community service activities with the theme "Dental and Oral Health Education Through Interactive-Based Learning Media for Students of SDN Inpres Tamamaung 4, Makassar City in 2022" have been carried out well and received a positive response from the 3rd grade students that we have filtered through screening. It was found that many students have dental and oral problems such as cavities and their lack of knowledge about how to maintain dental and oral health is due to the lack of health socialization held by the school and local health centers.

Trends in overweight and obesity in Bergen, Norway, using data from routine child healthcare 2010-2022.

Trends in childhood overweight, obesity and severe obesity have been lacking in Norway. This study assessed pre-pandemic trends from 2010 to 2019 and evaluated differences in prevalence during the 2020-2022 pandemic years. Routine height and weight measurements from child and school health centres were extracted retrospectively from children aged 2, 4, 6, 8 and 13 years. Overweight, obesity and severe obesity was classified according to the International Obesity Task Force cut-offs. Pre-pandemic trends were estimated using linear regression. The prevalence during the pandemic was compared to the 95% prediction interval of this model. We obtained 181 527 body mass index measurements on 78 024 children (51.0% boys). There was a decrease in the prevalence of overweight including obesity from 2010 to 2019 in boys and this was statistically significant at 4 and 13 years of age. We found no significant trends in girls during this period. During the pandemic, the prevalence of overweight including obesity exceeded the prediction intervals for boys aged 4, 6, and 8 years, and for 6-year-old girls. From 2010-2019, overweight including obesity plateaued in girls and decreased in boys but increased during the pandemic among prepubertal boys. Routine healthcare data is useful for estimating the prevalence of different weight status.

Uma experiência precursora do SUS com a participação de Paulo Freire

Abstract The text is based on a round table held at the Faculty of Education (FE) of the State University of Campinas (Unicamp) as one of the activities to commemorate Paulo Freire’s Centenary (2021). It aims to record part of his time at the university, from 1980 to 1991, based on the work conducted with FE and the Faculty of Medical Sciences (FCM) through training and extension activities at the Paulínia-SP School Health Center. It also describes and analyses the agendas of the country’s re-democratization process, the clashes over public policies in the National Constituent Assembly, and the process of setting up an integrated and universal system of education and collective public health from a participatory perspective.

Reproductive behaviors among school-based health center clients in New Mexico.

School-based health centers (SBHCs) are an evidence-based model for providing contraceptives to adolescents. SBHCs ability to provide reproductive health services is often limited by school district policies, state laws, and health center policies. We used data from the Teens Exploring and Managing Prevention (TEMPO) study to document demographic characteristics and birth control methods among patients at four SBHCs in New Mexico. A total of 264 teens were included in the baseline data collection at SBHCs in New Mexico. A baseline survey was administered via iPad, that specifically focused on questions related to sexual experiences and sexual health topics. Baseline questions included demographic questions, gender identity, sexual orientation, reasons for visits, reproductive practices, and birth control methods. Descriptive statistics were calculated, including means and standard deviations for continuous variables and categorical frequencies. Our findings present reproductive health behaviors among New Mexican patients attending schools with SBHCs. More than 74% of respondents were Hispanic or Latino. The most common reason teens went to the SBHC was for birth control, and just 62% of teens reported using birth control methods in the past. These behaviors are essential for policymakers to consider as they address policy gaps, the complex landscape of parental permission, reproductive rights, and health as a human right.

The use of youth healthcare services and its association with health-related quality of life, physical and mental health and over-the-counter analgesics use in 13–19-year-old adolescents: a cross-sectional study

BackgroundYouth healthcare services in Norway include a public health nurse (PHN) at school and local youth health centres (YHCs). They provide health services for all adolescents free of charge, focusing on health promotion and disease prevention. The present study aimed to assess possible associations between health-related quality of life (HRQoL), physical and mental health, over-the-counter analgesics (OTCA) use and use of youth healthcare services among 13–19-year-old adolescents.MethodsThis study was based on national, cross-sectional data from the Ungdata Survey conducted in 2022. The sample was comprised of 16 482 adolescents. Multiple logistic regression was used to analyse the associations between HRQoL, headaches, selected physical symptoms, psychological distress, use of OTCA, PHN availability, sociodemographic variables, and use of the PHN at school or at a YHC. The KIDSCREEN-10 was used to measure HRQoL, and the Hopkins Symptoms Checklist 10 was used to measure symptoms of psychological distress.ResultsGirls used the youth healthcare services more frequently than boys. Better HRQoL was significantly associated with fewer visits to the PHN at school. Girls reported lower HRQoL and mental health, and more pain and frequent OTCA use than boys. When having symptoms of psychological distress, boys had greater odds of visiting the PHN at school than girls. For girls in senior high school, headaches and OTCA use were strongly associated with visiting the PHN at school and the YHC. In senior high school, boys with an immigration background had greater odds of visiting the YHC than native Norwegian boys, while girls with an immigration background were less likely to visit the YHC than native Norwegian girls.ConclusionsOur results show that more girls than boys use youth healthcare services. When adolescents experience pain, have mental problems, use OTCA, or report low levels of HRQoL, they have greater odds of using youth healthcare services. Youth healthcare services offer excellent opportunities to support and follow up with adolescents. The findings provide important insights into youth healthcare services used by adolescents for various stakeholders, including PHNs and policy makers, with potential implications for future public health efforts.

Integrasi Karakter Peduli Lingkungan Dalam Program Sekolah Adiwiyata di SDN Cipondoh 5

This research aims to find out how the character of caring for the environment can be integrated into the Adiwiyata school program at SDN Cipondoh 5. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method, a case study type. Data collection uses observation; interviews with informant sources, the school principal, 2 teachers, 2 people in charge of the Adiwiyata program, and 5 students; and documentation studies. The data validity techniques used by researchers are technical triangulation and source triangulation. Data analysis techniques include data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Based on the research results, it shows that the Adiwiyata school program can grow and improve the environmentally caring character of students at SDN Cipondoh 5 as they get used to it at school. Integration is carried out through the curriculum, development of environment-based learning tools, activities to bring your own food and drinking bottles, training to make biopore holes, clean Friday activities. The integration carried out by the school also collaborates with the school community, student parents, health centers and other related agencies. The obstacles faced are related to the lack of coordination between teachers and inadequate land in optimizing the adiwiata program. The implications are for schools in overcoming obstacles through integrating the Adiwiyata program in collaboration with environmental agencies so that they can regain the national level Adiwiyata school certificate award

Initiation of the Establishment of Poskestren (Islamic Boarding School Health Center) at the Kampung At-Tauhid Islamic Boarding School, Ogan Ilir Regency

Health issues are important in the world of education, including in Islamic boarding schools. To support the health status of santri (students at the Islamic boarding school), Islamic boarding schools need to facilitate them through Pos kesehatan pesantren or Poskestren (Islamic Boarding School Health Center). The purpose of this community service was to establish a Poskestren at an Islamic boarding school. The methods adopted in this community service included advocacy, education, socialization, promotion, and empowerment for santri. This program involved the Faculty of Public Health of Universitas Sriwijaya, Talang Pangeran Health Center, village officials, and the selected Islamic boarding school. The Poskestren was established at the Kampung At-Tauhid Islamic boarding school, Ogan Ilir, on July 2022. The result of this community service showed the establishment of a Poskestren was supported by all parties, and a special room was provided for this health service with the necessary facilities and infrastructure at the Kampung At-Tauhid Islamic Boarding School. In addition, this community service also established Kader Santri Husada (Santri Husada Cadre) consisting of nine santri who had been trained by the campus and community health center regarding emergencies, use of medical devices, personal hygiene, and prevention of sexually deviant behavior. It is expected that the Poskestren can provide services for all communities at the Islamic boarding school on an ongoing basis. It is also expected that the Islamic boarding school and community health center can continue the development of this Poskestren service.

Environmental Radiation Dosimetry for school buildings, hospitals and health centers in Babil Governorate-Iraq using TL-technique

The current research aims to evaluate the dose rate of gamma rays emitted from school buildings, hospitals and health centers in several locations in Babil Governorate using the TL method. To achieve the objectives of the research, measurements were taken at 49 school building sites and 29 hospital and health center sites using the thermal luminescence technique. The results of this study indicate that the inhabited areas within the environmental monitoring stations are places where the radiation is normal and the average dose rate in school buildings, hospitals and health centers to which humans are exposed is within the permissible limit.

Concepções sobre tratamento e diagnóstico da tuberculose pulmonar para quem a vivencia

Abstract Objectives to analyze the conceptions of people experiencing treatment and diagnosis of pulmonary tuberculosis. Method this is a descriptive and exploratory research with a qualitative approach, developed in a School Health Center of Belém (Pará) with 30 patients. Data was collected during the period from September 2019 to January 2020 through a semi-structured interview with the aid of a script containing six questions, as well as the observation of the information contained in the medical record and in the tuberculosis record control book. For the analysis of the results, the Content Analysis technique was used according to Bardin's perspective. Result it was identified that the reduced knowledge about the disease and the presence of negative conceptions influence, in a significant way, the search for care or the adherence to treatment, interfering in daily and work activities. Conclusion it is concluded that the need for patients to (re)mean tuberculosis during treatment persists, and it is essential that the health team knows such conceptions in order to provide care that contemplates physical and bio-psychosocial aspects before the Tuberculosis Control Program of the unit.

Determinan Kepatuhan Siswa terhadap Protokol Kesehatan Selama Pembelajaran Tatap Muka (PTM)

Boyolali Sub-Regency had the highest total Covid-19 cases that was reported by Boyolali District Health Office on February 2022. The limited face-to-face learning / PTM in Boyolali Regency has been implemented on January 2022 with requirement of strict health protocols. The purposes of the study is to determine the affecting factors of students compliance in the application of health protocols during the limited face -to-face learning in Boyolali Sub-Regency. Quantitative research method with a cross-sectional approach. The total number of respondents were 359 students in SD/ MI, SMP / MTs, SMA / SMK and MA who determined by proportional sampling technique. Data were analyzed by frequency distribution and simple liniear regression.The percentage of respondents with high compliance is higher (53.5%) than respondents with low compliance (46.5%).The affecting factors were age, level of education,knowledge, infrastructure supervision of school and community members, school support, friends support, and family support which has (p-value <0,005).The factors that didn’t affect was gender (p>0,005). The school should empower school health center role. It was done by involving the students checking the application of health protocols. The education office can make a pocket book containing health protocol rules during the limited face -to-face learning which can be a guide for family. The dostrict health office should socialization to community that they can also monitor health protocols during the limited face -to-face learning

JOB SATISFACTION OF OUTPATIENT PUSKESMAS AND INPATIENT PUSKESMAS STAFF IN KOTAWARINGIN BARAT REGENCY

Health staff job satisfaction impacts performance. Puskesmas have periodically measured customer satisfaction but staff job satisfaction has never been carried out. From a preliminary study, it was found that the job satisfaction of Puskesmas staff in Kotawaringin Barat Regency was still low. To find out the difference in job satisfaction of inpatient Puskesmas staff with outpatient health centers. Design cross-sectional research with quantitative approach. The research population of inpatient and outpatient health center staff in Kotawaringin Barat District. Recruitment of subjects is carried out through Puskesmas. From 14 outpatient health centers, 3 Puskesmas were selected and from 4 inpatient health centers, 2 Puskesmas were selected. A total of 40 subjects filled out the questionnaire which was distributed electronically. Data analysis was carried out with an independent t test to distinguish job satisfaction. High job satisfaction at outpatient health centers is on the supervision factor, and policies are 62%, motivation is 57%, respectively, while low satisfaction in the physical work environment is 19%, on occupational safety and security factors, incentives, capitation services are 33% each, and work culture is 38%. High job satisfaction at inpatient health centers in the form of work culture factors, and capitation services were 68%, respectively, work results were 63%, and 58% each in the factors of co-workers, occupational security and safety, opportunities to improve skills and skills, while low satisfaction in the physical work environment was 16%, incentives were 16%, workload was 37%, supervision was 42%, and policies were 42%. There is no significant differencebetween work complacencyin outpatient health centers and inpatient high school health centers (p=0.317).

Determinants of cervical cancer screening uptake among female undergraduates in a tertiary institution in south eastern Nigeria: a cross sectional study.

SummaryIntroductionCancer of the cervix is the second most common cancer among women worldwide and is the major cause of cancer deaths in developing countries. Screening is among the common cost-effective control methods for the disease. This study ascertained the determinants of cervical cancer screening uptake among female undergraduates in a tertiary institution in south eastern Nigeria.MethodsThis cross-sectional study was conducted using a stratified sampling technique among 375 respondents. A pretested semi structured questionnaire was used for data collection and SPSS version 21 was used in data analysis in which the association between qualitative variables was ascertained using Chi-square test at P < 0.05 probability level.ResultsThe result revealed that majority of 321 (85.6%) were aware of CC as a disease and 202 (53.9%) of the respondents were aware of cervical cancer screening test. The study revealed that the uptake of cervical cancer screening was low among the female undergraduates. Only few 27 (7.2%) of the respondents have been previously screened for cervical cancer. High cost of screening 128 (31.2%) was the major reason for not undergoing screening. Significant association existed between socio-demographic variables (age, level of study, marital status and monthly allowance) and uptake of cervical cancer. Most of the respondents 10 (17.2%) that had been screened for cervical cancer were within the age bracket of 25-29 years and were in 500 level 21(19.4%). Cervical cancer uptake was higher 9 (29%) in married females compared to single females 18 (5.2%). It was also indicated that all the participants who have been screened were screened at a cost of ₦ 1,001 - ₦ 2,000. Majority of them 11 (25.6%) earned monthly allowance of ₦ 23,001 - ₦ 30,000. Strong association were also found between awareness of cervical cancer (X² = 4.89, P = 0.027), availability of screening center (X² = 37.433, P ≤ 0.001), cost of screening (X² = 100,793, P ≤ 0.001) and uptake of screening.ConclusionsThe study revealed that the uptake of cervical cancer screening was low among the female undergraduates. In order to enhance screening uptake among female undergraduates, there is an urgent need to review the cost of screening especially in the school’s health center and other hospitals/clinics within the school environment.

Percepções de adolescentes a respeito do impacto da gravidez em suas relações sociais

Most pregnant teenagers, even wanting their pregnancy and being insured by public policies, face difficulties in their relationships with their family and partner, tending to suffer from the disruption of their lives. Thus, this work aims to understand the perceptions of primiparous teenagers about the impact of pregnancy on their social relationships. This is a qualitative study based on the theoretical framework of Morin's Complex Thinking. The study was carried out with 17 primiparous adolescents followed up at the Adolescent Prenatal Outpatient Clinic of the School Health Center in Santo André, State of São Paulo, Brazil. Data were collected through the Interview Technique and processed through Content Analysis. As a result, three categories were obtained - the partner's reaction to the pregnancy, the family's understanding of pregnancy, and the change in their social network after pregnancy. Many teenagers relate pregnancy to the idealization of becoming an adult and respected for the fact of becoming a mother. Partners do not always have this dream of being a father and keeping a family. The family, on the other hand, remains the first choice in the support of teenage couples, but some pregnant women did not demonstrate enough freedom to dialogue with their family members. It is noticed that teenage pregnancy generates social changes, especially with regards to school dropouts and social withdrawal. Thus, it is noted that teenage pregnancy generates difficult biopsychosocial transformations, such as dropping out of school and moving away from their social circle, demonstrating a suffering on the part of the teenagers.

A Students’ Health Centre Design for Qatar

Introduction: School health services have the purpose of ensuring that all students are ready to learn by ascertaining that they are in good health. More than 2.3 billion school-aged children have been reported to spend a third of their days in the school environment1. Such findings underscore the need to establish school health centers (SHCs) that exclusively promote students’ physical, social, and psychological health of school children, yet currently non-existent in the State of Qatar. Aim: The present paper aims to propose the establishment of SHCs in Qatar, and to envision the impact of these comprehensively and uniquely designed Student Health Care Centers (SHCs) for school children health and wellbeing in Qatar. Student’s Health Center Design: Qatar prioritizes student’s health as part of its high-quality health care services. Qatar’s student health will benefit from establishment of comprehensive school health center services. Recommendation: This paper presents an SHC design that may be used in the State of Qatar. Identical SHC design may be applied in other countries also to improve the health, and quality of life among school children by creating a platform for rendering multidisciplinary health care services and health promotion to school children.

Improving the nutritional status of school children through the formation of a group of children caring for nutrition in SD Az- Zakiyah Islamic School

This service activity is a training for school children to care about their food consumption and nutritional status.. This service activity carried out at SD Az-Zakiyah Islamic School Medan aims to provide understanding to school children about healthy, nutritious, and balanced food, as well as weight and height measurement skills. The methods used are lectures, practice of measuring body weight and height using microtoas and digital scales, and the practice of introducing food ingredients that contain nutrients using a food model. The t test results showed that there was a significant difference (p = 0.005) in children's knowledge before and after providing information. This shows that this training provides increased knowledge of school children. It is hoped that the training participants will later become nutritional ambassadors who can disseminate information about healthy, nutritious, and balanced food and the importance of monitoring nutritional status from an early age to their friends, especially at school and in the environment around their homes in an effort to improve nutritional status in school children. In addition, I hope this program will be sustainable and will raise awareness among school foundations and health centers to support this activity which has been initiated in college.

Pediatric Asthma Is Associated With Poorer 3-Year Academic Achievement in Urban Elementary and Middle-School Students.

Asthma has been associated with worse academic performance in a single school year, yet this association may be magnified over time as students with asthma continue to fall behind. This study examined the relationship between asthma and standardized test performance aggregated across 3 school years, including whether performance varied by likelihood of having significant asthma. Data were from students in grades K-8 at 2 urban public schools in the Northeastern United States (2015-2018). Asthma was based on parent- and self-report and school health center records. Standardized test performance was assessed using Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) and Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC). Mixed effects linear and logistic regression models were used to evaluate the relationship between asthma and performance during 3 school years. Any asthma was associated with worse MAP performance across the 3 academic years. Students with the most significant asthma demonstrated worse performance on MAP and PARCC. Aggregating across 3 school years, students scored 3.17 points worse on MAP reading (95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.7-5.63; P = .012) and 3.56 points worse on MAP mathematics (95% CI: 0.52-6.6; P=.022); they had 48.8% (95% CI: 1.9%-73.2%; P=.044) and 58.0% (95% CI: 21%-78%; P=.007) lower odds of proficiency on PARCC English/Language Arts and Mathematics, respectively compared to those without asthma. The relationship between asthma and poorer academic achievement in 1 school year may be magnified over multiple years, particularly among those with more significant asthma. School-based asthma interventions may support academic growth and more equitable health outcomes.

Healthy Eating Habits

This project focuses on the theme of healthy eating habits and is being developed by students from class 8.ºD and under the scope of our school’s social inclusion program. Two questionnaires were applied, one on food and the other on hydration in a school environment, to all classes in the 7th grade and class 8.ºD. In order to alert the school community to the needfor good hydration, the class 8.ºD organized a tasting session on flavoured water. In collaboration with the project, the nurse from the school health centre gave two lectures on healthy eating habits. Schools’ shutdown due to Covid-19 pandemic did not allow more sessions to be held, nor to share with the community the questionnaires’ results. Nevertheless, one of the projects main goals is to implement in the school flavoured water dispensers, to encourage students to drink more water.

Awareness of Chagas disease and socioeconomic characteristics of Bolivian immigrants living in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

ABSTRACTIn this study which is part of a research project on Chagas disease (CD) among Bolivian immigrants in Sao Paulo, we describe socioeconomic characteristics, knowledge of CD and implications for acess to health care. We applied a structured questionnaire to a sample of 472 Bolivian adults (> 18 years) living in Sao Paulo and enrolled at the Barra Funda School Health Center. Participants’ median age was 28.5 years, 75.0% were from the Bolivian department of La Paz, and >90% worked in the garment industry. Respondents had lived in Sao Paulo for a median of 5.8 years. Only 169 (35.8%) were familiar with CD, while roughly half (50.4%) had lived in natural materials houses in Bolivia, 225 (47.7%) indicated familiarity with the vector, 23.9% had seen the vector in their homes in Bolivia, and 6.4% reported having been bitten by a triatomine bug. Factors associated with awareness of CD were analyzed by chi square tests, and those with p values <0.25 were included in a multivariable logistic regression model. In the multivariable logistic regression analysis, having a relative with CD (OR=4.3, 95% CI=1.5-12.0), having lived in a house with mud or wood walls (OR=0.4, 95% CI=0.2-0.8), and having heard of the triatomine bug, or vinchuca, (OR=10.0, 95% CI=5.1-19.5) were significantly associated with awareness of CD. This study shows a low familiarity with CD among Bolivian migrants living in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Raising awareness of the disease through specific communication strategies should be an essential component of public health programs to reduce the burden of CD in this and other vulnerable populations.

Preconception health behaviors among women with planned pregnancies.

To identify determinants of preconception preparation among women with planned pregnancies. A cross-sectional study with a probabilistic sample of 264 women between 18 and 49 years of age who had or were undergoing planned pregnancies, and were users of two School Health Centers in the city of São Paulo. Analysis was conducted through univariate and multiple logistic regression of three variable blocks: 1) social and demographic characteristics; 2) sexual and reproductive characteristics; 3) preexisting health conditions. Women with higher education, belonging to economic groups A and B, and older women with infertility were more likely to perform preconception training. Preconception care has a strong social determination, as women with more favorable social profiles are more likely to perform it. Experience with infertility is also instrumental in the likelihood of preconception care.
