STEM PjBL Sparks Global Ecoliteracy Advancement

This study examines the impact of a STEM-based Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model on Class VIII students' ecoliteracy abilities at SMP Negeri 1 Tanggulangin using a quantitative pre-experimental approach. The research design employs a One Group Pretest-Posttest Design with non-probability purposive sampling. Results from administering valid ecoliteracy tests and analyzing data with the N-Gain Test and One Way ANOVA reveal a significant increase in ecoliteracy abilities after implementing the STEM-based PjBL model, indicating its effectiveness in enhancing students' environmental literacy. These findings have implications for incorporating innovative teaching methods to improve environmental education in schools. Highlight: Evaluates STEM-based PjBL for ecoliteracy in students. Uses purposive sampling for targeted research. Shows significant increase in ecoliteracy skills post-implementation. Objectives This study aims to deeply understand the process of self-growth in students within the school educational environment. It explores the self-growth process of four participants who are enrolled in a transitional educational institution, ‘Mokdonaru School’ located in Chungcheongbuk-do.
 Methods Preliminary surveys were conducted among all enrolled students, and foundational surveys were carried out with all teachers to select four research participants. Semi-structured, in-depth interviews were conducted with these participants, and the data was collected through transcription. The gathered data was analyzed using Nvivo (version 14), processing a cyclical process of open coding, axial coding, and selective coding.
 Results The participants in this study revealed a growth process characterized by individual differences. They recognize various triggers and elements as the background of their self-growth, and their individual growth is not so much independent as it is holistic, affecting and transforming across the areas of self-identity, social identity, and career identity.
 Conclusions These findings suggest the need for a deeper understanding of individual differences in students' self-growth processes in secondary education, and for a holistic approach that goes beyond a narrow focus on teaching activities to include the diverse living spaces and relational aspects surrounding the school.

The essentiality of curricular environmental education in schools for the realization of the Right to Sustainability

Curricular Environmental Education in schools plays a fundamental role in promoting the right to a sustainable environment. It is a concept that goes beyond simply teaching about ecology and preservation, being a process that aims to form conscious citizens, capable of understanding the interdependence as well as the integrality between human beings and the environment. Teaching about the environment is important in several aspects. Firstly, it helps to raise students' awareness of environmental issues, making them aware of the challenges and threats the planet faces, such as climate change, pollution and biodiversity loss. This encourages empathy and concern for the environment. Furthermore, environmental education provides tools so that students can act sustainably in their daily lives. The purpose of this theoretical essay is to provide a study on environmental education and its direct impact on decision-making at a political level and on the promotion of environmentally conscious public policies in the field of school education. Research shows that citizens educated in this area are more able to actively participate in environmental issues, pushing more for sustainable policies and making informed decisions in elections. Environmental education in schools is essential to ensure that future generations have a healthy and sustainable environment, becoming a crucial tool in realizing the right to a sustainable environment. In the essay, the methodology of theoretical construction is used based on a bibliographical review, with exploratory research.

GenZs environmental attitudes and ecology behavior nexus: Urgent education message

Environmental education in schools is critical to help decrease plastic litter pollution because plastic pollution could be the most significant health problem of the 21st century. Our research examined the environmental behaviors and attitudes of Generation Z (Gen Z) high school and undergraduate students in South Texas, USA. The research was important because we need to understand what young people believe and value if we are going to see any change in environmental behavior. Results supported research on how teachers can influence student environmental attitudes, behaviors, and knowledge with education. Feedback from students revealed significant attitude change and a rich narrative of pollution and watershed ecology knowledge and behavior themes. These themes disclosed that a holistic environmental science curriculum is necessary to connect Earth systems with the plastic litter pollution cycle.

School Environmental Education Activities to Enhance Plant Utilization for Students at SDN Kuin Cerucuk V, Banjarmasin City

Students' knowledge about plants is crucial. The school environment serves not only as a place containing various types of plants but also as a learning resource. Some plants available in the school environment have the potential for medicinal use as well as aesthetic purposes. The purpose of this activity is to enhance student's knowledge about the utilization of plants in the school environment through educational activities at SDN Kuin Cerucuk V, Banjarmasin. The activity was conducted at SDN Kuin Cerucuk V with 64 students from grades 4, 5, and 6, along with 7 teachers. Besides the importance of conducting education about medicinal plants, similar activities regarding the utilization of medicinal plants in the vicinity of SDN Kuin Cerucuk V, Banjarmasin, have not been conducted before. Based on the service results, it is known that the educational activity on the utilization of plants around the environment shows a positive response and enthusiasm. The educational activities were carried out through lectures in classrooms and using posters as a publication medium. The results of the education show that there was an increase in students' knowledge, with a pre-education average of 10.91 and a post-education average of 89.01. Achieving carbon neutrality in Africa is possible: the impact of education, employment, and renewable energy consumption on carbon emissions

This paper analysed the causal link between education, employment, renewable energy consumption and carbon emissions in Africa, where there is scant evidence. Relying on panel data obtained from the World Development Indicators for thirty-two African countries covering a period of 19 years, and five panel rigorous regression models, we found that renewable energy, investment in education, school enrolment, net national income per capita, and employment had negative and significant effects on carbon emission, thus increasing these predictors would result in significant reduction in carbon emission in Africa. We identified a bidirectional causality between carbon emissions and net national income per capita, education expenditure and renewable energy consumption, and carbon emissions and employment. Our findings suggest that investment in education, renewable energy, and employment are relevant in mitigating carbon emissions in Africa. We recommend African governments to invest heavily in education, improve school enrolment, environmental education, renewable energy and employment provision to mitigate carbon emissions.Graphical

The Urgency of Environmental Education in Kurikulum Merdeka: A Geophilosophical Approach

Environmental Education (EE) is currently receiving broad attention in formulating and implementing fostering students' character to be more environmentally conscious. This issue is also entangled with the global commitment to create a sustainable society. Indonesia experienced a curriculum transition from the K13 to Merdeka curricula; thus, integrating environmental problems into the new curricula is important. In general, the implementation of EE in schools can be divided into two approaches: integrating it into a specific syllabus and incorporating it into extracurricular or ceremonial school activities. Several obstacles have been identified during the implementation of EE, especially at the high school level and its equivalents, including EE being perceived as a burden on students' study time, a lack of coordination among relevant institutions, insufficient funding, and ineffective EE program formats. These findings are based on focus group discussions (FGDs) conducted in-depth interviews with Adiwiyata High School students to determine the implementation of PLH in schools and supporting literature reviews. To address these obstacles, this research adopts a geophilosophical perspective as a novel approach to support education and curricula that promote sustainable environmental awareness, both in affective and practical-contextual actions, by considering the importance of geographical agency in teaching and learning. Consequently, it was discovered that the geophilosophical approach could serve as an alternative model for curriculum development that is more flexible to strengthen Kurikulum Merdeka.

학교 환경교육 사업 운영을 통한 담당 교사들의 학습에 관한 질적 사례연구

Objectives This study aims to explore how teachers perceive the operation of school environmental education projects and identify the meaningful learning experiences they encounter in the process of carrying out environmental education tasks.
 Methods To achieve the research objectives, in-depth interviews and open-ended surveys were conducted with 11 teachers from elementary, middle, high, and special schools who have participated in the Chungcheongbuk-do Office of Education's Green School policy project for over two years and have continuous experience with Green Schools. The collected data were analyzed through qualitative research methods, and the research results were derived through discussions.
 Results Teachers, in the process of carrying out environmental education tasks, strengthened school environmental education on an educational dimension tailored to the specific situation, surpassing visible outcomes and pursuing educationally substantial activities. The efforts made by teachers were found to have an impact on changing their perspectives on the existing environmental education tasks. Through the learning process facilitated by these tasks, teachers recognized the overall necessity of environmental education in schools and, consequently, secured environmental education leadership at the school level.
 Conclusions The operation of school environmental education projects should be a process where teachers actively engage in and prioritize the implementation of substantial activities with an educational focus for better environmental education. Through realizing activities that prioritize educational objectives, teachers can create meaning in the operation of projects at both individual and community levels. This approach allows teachers to secure voluntary motivation for active participation in their roles as practitioners of environmental education.

The use of new technologies in the development and maintenance of sustainable schools

The sustainable school arises from the need to rethink a new school and reflect on the future of humanity, with regard to concepts that have not been explored so far. It highlights the concepts of the idealized system for creating sustainable environments, involving socio-economic, environmental and ethical areas. The aim of this work is to analyze the use of these new information technologies, or ecotechnologies, in the implementation and maintenance of sustainable schools, in order to elucidate the latest discoveries in this area. In addition to carrying out a bibliographical review on the subject, it measures the possibilities for its use in a practical and objective way. The methodology used was bibliographical research on the subject in question, breaking it down through a qualitative approach, using scientific articles and more recent works considered to be the most relevant in the field of ecology and sustainability, with a focus on the implementation and use of technologies aimed at environmental education in schools. It was concluded that the use of new information technologies, or ecotechnologies, whether they are social communication technologies or not, in the context of implementing and maintaining sustainable schools, although paradoxical, is necessary in order to develop viable solutions and/or alternatives to an unavoidable social reality, especially for new generations and students. It should be noted that integrating multimedia information technology into environmental education and, consequently, into sustainable schools, raises students' awareness and knowledge of different environments and encourages the dissemination of new possibilities despite the existing distance.

Teacher-leader position in the realization of educational strategizing

Aim. To analyze the transformation of the model of interaction between teacher-leader and students, building educational space in the classroom.Objectives. To consider such key elements of V.L. Kvint’s concept of strategizing as vision and mission in relation to school education and teacher-leader’s work.Methods. One of the most significant trends in the modern school educational environment is the obsolescence of the model “teacher-head” and the growing importance of the model “teacher-leader”. This determines the expediency of applying the concept of strategizing by academician V.L. Kvint in this environment.Results. Among the key elements of the mission of school education should be presented not only the transfer of academic, subject knowledge, but also the development of skills to apply it beyond the school subjects. For this purpose, the school education system needs teachersleaders who have a high status among students, who are able to combine formal and informal communication, and who have developed emotional intelligence.Conclusions. It is shown that one of the most significant competitive advantages of Russian school education is the depth of academic, subject knowledge. Meanwhile, part of the mission should be the development of skills to apply this knowledge beyond the disciplines in which it is obtained.

Factors in preventing violence in schools

Relevance. It becomes important to search for factors and determine their role in the organization of a favourable educational environment in schools in Kosovo, to develop a methodology that contributes to the prevention of violence among schoolchildren based on mutual help and mutual respect. Purpose. The purpose of the article is to substantiate the factors that can influence the eradication of bullying, mobbing and cyberbullying in the school environment of Kosovo. Methodology. The methodological approach of the research is based on theoretical methods (comparative analysis, synthesis and generalization of theoretical data); empirical (questionnaires, testing, observations, surveys, heuristic conversation, dialogue, discussion, psychological and pedagogical trainings, seminars, debates); diagnostic (pedagogical observation and pedagogical experiment (diagnostic, formative, control). Results. In the course of an experimental study conducted at the stage of ascertainment among students of 6-9 grades in Lower Secondary School No. 1, Lower Secondary School No. 2, Lower Secondary School No. 3, problems of violence between schoolchildren in classes were identified, and methods of creating a favourable educational environment to prevent bullying were outlined. A methodological toolkit was developed to improve the educational environment, which will contribute to the eradication of bullying among students of 6-9 grades. In particular, four elements of creating a favourable educational environment were highlighted: creating a favourable psychological climate, updating the content of education and learning technologies; favourable about food environment; providing opportunities for development. The outlined levels were assessed at high (5 points), medium (4 points) and low (1-3 points) levels. Conclusions. After conducting an experimental study, promising directions for improving the favourable educational environment in schools in Kosovo were formed. The practical value of the work lies in the development of methods of organization and implementation of a favourable educational environment in schools in Kosovo, which contributes to the eradication of bullying among students.

Making kin in the forest: explorations of ecological literacy through contemplative practices in a Swedish folk high school

This study is about the use of contemplative practices in forest fieldwork and how such practices could support the growth of ecological literacy. Ecological literacy is explored by employing Donna Haraway’s notions of becoming-with and companion species. The study is based on fieldwork with a group of adult learners attending a folk high school in Sweden. The participants are followed as they encounter and are becoming-with species of the forest. The empirical material consists of video- and audio-recordings. The results provide a narrative of forest encounters, environmental concerns and dreams about the simple harmonic life. The forest fieldwork thus provides a site for elaborating a more inclusive ethics and teaching strategies where nonhuman-human relational aspects become center to ecological literacy. The results suggest that folk high school environmental education could be used as a source of inspiration in disrupting the practices of compulsory science education.

How Participation in a Teachers' Eco-Pedagogy Workshop Affects the Promotion of Teachers’ Environmental Education and Organizational Concepts

<p style="text-align:justify">Eco-pedagogy is a pedagogy utilized in the framework of teaching environmental education in schools. The adoption of various eco-pedagogy programs within schools has proven to be helpful in improving students' environmental attitudes, and it was concluded that schools are the best place for critical learning of environmental concerns. Thus, the primary purpose of this study was to investigate how a teachers' eco-pedagogy workshop promotes teachers' educational, environmental, and organizational concepts. An integrated study (quantitative and qualitative) was carried out that included a sample of 44 teachers in elementary schools. The sample was divided into two groups: an experimental group that participated in the workshop, and a control group that did not participate in it. Improvement was found in the environmental education and the organizational concepts of eco-pedagogy for teachers who participated in the program, compared with those who did not. The study's key findings indicated that attending an eco-pedagogy workshop helped teachers perceive the subject more favorably, developed their higher-order thinking skills, and they learned more about it. Another finding was that a workshop is crucial for teachers to advance their professional development.</p>

고교 경쟁률과 접근성에 대한 그룹간 분산분석

The purpose of this study is to examine the spatial characteristics of the school location by focusing on the differences in educational environments between groups according to the competition rate and accessibility of high schools when students and parents choose a school.
 As a result of variance analysis, there were differences between groups in total number of students, number of students per class, number of books per capita, school development fund, accessibility, number of subway stations, urban public facilities(factory), academy facilities, and sex crime rates, which were statistically significant.
 The results of the school competition rate generated in the school selection process are not only a problem of the school, but also a problem of the school location and educational environment surrounding the school.

Study on the Management of Chinese College Students Based on the Perspective of Career Planning

This dissertation centers on the theoretical discussion and countermeasure suggestions on career planning and employment guidance for Chinese college students. Through a comprehensive literature review, it analyzes the challenges faced by Chinese college students in the process of career planning, explores the problems of the existing career guidance model, and proposes effective management countermeasures. The study finds that Chinese college students' career planning is influenced by various factors, including individual quality, school education, and social environment. In order to better assist college students in their career planning, this paper puts forward a series of suggestions, covering the aspects of personal quality cultivation, school education reform, and improvement of the career guidance system, with a view to providing useful theoretical references and practical guidance for Chinese college students' career planning.

Social wellbeing – a key factor in the mental health of children and adolescent

This paper presents a long-term project to promote social wellbeing of pupils for use in the educational environment of schools. Social wellbeing emphasizes well-being in social relationships, specifically in the classroom environment and the overall school climate. It focuses on improving the atmosphere, rule-following, mutual respect, tolerance, as a basic source of social and individual well-being. The paper responds to the steady rise in mental health problems of children and adolescents (data from the National Institute of Health, CSU), the increase in self-harm and suicide in this age group, based on a long-term analysis of the school environment in which the author is involved, the results of research at home and abroad.
 Guiding pupils to achieve life's optimum through the promotion of a healthy social environment has a positive impact on school performance, according to current domestic research. A healthy social environment increases tolerance for differences, reduces anxiety in children and adolescents, and enables them to maximise their own potential.
 Thus, caring for the social wellbeing of pupils in schools must be one of the key areas in the comprehensive promotion of mental health, especially in the long term.
 The theoretical starting points of the paper are different conceptions of "wellbeing", in which a different quality of this state is highlighted (cf. Jandová, 2021), the starting points are also the thought concepts of Z. Matějček, a leading child psychologist focusing on the needs of children (positive social bonds in the family and school environment, engagement in a variety of activities supporting physical, intellectual and emotional development, a sense of safety and security, a healthy sense of self, social fulfilment and a sense of an open future).
 This background was used to design a project to promote the social wellbeing of pupils, the project was prepared in collaboration with Czech Television (CT Edu). Taking into account the possibilities of the school environment, it is ready for implementation in the classroom. All the aspects mentioned above are addressed in the different parts of the presented project, as well as the possibilities of the classroom teachers and their sense of security in working with personal development techniques.

Landscape tools to support the educational use of school grounds

Recent years have seen an increasing emphasis on child-friendly concepts in landscape architecture and urban planning, as well as a growing emphasis on school grounds and environmental education, both in terms of pedagogy and landscape design. School grounds provide places for active engagement with the environment, for experiencing what is taught in class, and, are therefore of particular importance for education and for building children's connection with nature. The aim of this research is to develop a set of landscape architecture tools that can be used to promote child-friendly and education-centered design of school grounds. The research collects and organises the different school ground features, drawing on literature research, and the analysis of the Framework Curriculum. The toolkit presented in this paper lists and evaluates each feature according to its function, its relevance to school subjects and the specific knowledge or skills it can help to acquire, its space requirements and feasibility. To conclude, school grounds offer opportunities for teaching almost any subject and can therefore be linked to educational activities in multiple ways. The results of this research are to be developed into design guidelines in order to be used by designers and teachers alike, to help develop school grounds contributing to the well-being and environmental awareness of new generations.

Blended English Teaching Model in Higher Education School Environment AR Constructive Technology

China's education modernization requirements clearly suggest exploring new teaching methods to improve teaching effectiveness. Based on this, this article investigates AR construction technology as a blended English teaching model in the university school environment. Mobile terminals are used to build the blended English teaching model, modeling tools are used to achieve split modeling, and the mobile terminals themselves are used to achieve the management and network synchronization work for the cloud classroom. For the gesture recognition model construction, 3D convolutional neural networks are used to separate and optimize the parameters. Finally, experiments are designed to simulate and analyze the AR construct of the blended English teaching model to determine accuracy. The simulation results show that the model can realize the simultaneous display of teacher explanation, and the improved algorithm of gesture recognition is improved in recognition rate, which can improve the effectiveness of blended English teaching.
