Construction and validation of an audio-visual tool to instruct caregivers of patients with pemphigus in photographing skin and oral cavity lesions during tele-consultation: A cross-sectional study.

Background Owing to the lack of standardised audio-visual (A-V) instructions to take photographs, patients with pemphigus faced difficulties during tele-consultation in COVID-19 pandemic. Objective To construct and validate an A-V instruction tool to take photographs of skin and oral cavity lesions of pemphigus. Methods In this observational study, we included patients with pemphigus of either gender seeking tele-consultation, aged 18 years or older. A-V instructions demonstrating skin and oral cavity photography were designed and shared with the patients. They were requested to send pictures of lesions that complied with the instructions. They were then required to complete a 10-item questionnaire for face validation in the two following rounds. The videos were content validated by 14 experts in the field of clinical dermatology. Results Forty-eight patients took part in face validation. A majority of patients, 47 (97.9%) and 45 (93.8%); rated the audio and video quality as being above average, respectively. Forty-seven patients (97.9%) said the instructional videos were useful, and 42 patients (87.5%) said they did not need to take any further images to show how severe their disease was. The average scale content validity index for the instructions on skin imaging and the oral cavity imaging during round 1 of content validation was 0.863 and 0.836, respectively. Limitation Validated instruction videos are in Hindi language and need to be further translated and validated in other local languages for use in non-Hindi speaking regions. Conclusion A-V instructions were useful to take photographs during tele-consultation.

A multiphase, multicentre development and validation of two maturity tools assessing the implementation of the FlaQuM co-creation roadmap.

As part of the new Flanders Quality Model (FlaQuM) towards sustainable quality management systems, a co-creation roadmap with 6 primary drivers and 19 building blocks that guides healthcare organizations has been developed. Currently, no assessment tool is available to monitor hospitals' quality management systems implementation according to this co-creation roadmap. Therefore, we aimed to measure the maturity of the implementation of the FlaQuM co-creation roadmap in hospitals. A three-phase approach in co-design with 19 hospitals started with defining the scope, followed by establishing content validity through a literature review, involvement of content experts (n = 47), 20 focus groups with content experts (n = 79), and a Delphi round with healthcare quality managers (n = 19) to test the content validity index. Construct validity was assessed by confirmatory factor analyses and convergent validity by Spearman's ρ correlation coefficients. Based on 17 included existing maturity instruments and subcomponents of content experts, two maturity tools were developed according to the implementation of the FlaQuM co-creation roadmap: (i) a maturity matrix with 52 subcomponents and (ii) a co-creation scan with 19 statements. The overall scale-content validity index varied between 93.3% and 90.0% in terms of relevance and clarity, respectively. In a sample of 119 healthcare professionals, factor analyses revealed a six-factor structure and 16 (84.2%) of the 19 hypothesis for testing convergent validity between both maturity tools were statistically significant. Measuring the implementation of the FlaQuM co-creation roadmap and monitoring its maturity over time should be feasible by using these comprehensive maturity tools in hospitals. Results of both tools should be able to describe the current state of hospitals' implementation of the co-creation roadmap as basis for strategic improvement plans and next steps.

Compilation of a self-management assessment scale for postoperative patients with aortic dissection.

The aim of this research was to compile a self-management assessment scale for patients with aortic dissection (AD). The questionnaire is useful in making the patient aware of the need for post-operative care in order to contribute to improving the outcome and quality of life. The initial version of the "postoperative self-management assessment scale for patients with aortic dissection" was developed using the Delphi expert consultation method based on qualitative research results, consultation of self-management-related literature, reference to the existing self-management scale, and self-efficacy theory, combined with the disease characteristics of AD. By using the convenience sampling method, a total of 201 patients with AD who had undergone surgery were selected as the research participants. The initial version of the scale was used for follow-up investigation, and the scale entries were evaluated and exploratory factor analysis carried out to form the formal version of the "postoperative self-management assessment scale for patients with aortic dissection." A total of 214 patients with AD after surgery were selected as the research participants. The formal version of the scale was used for follow-up investigation, and its reliability and validity were evaluated. The formal version of the scale had 6 dimensions and 35 entries. The Cronbach's α coefficient for the total scale was 0.908, the split-half reliability was 0.790, and the test-retest reliability after 2 weeks was 0.471. The content validity index of the total scale was 0.963. Exploratory factor analysis yielded six common factors, and the cumulative contribution rate of variance was 66.303%. Confirmatory factor analysis showed that except for the incremental fit index, Tucker-Lewis index, and comparative fit index >0.85, slightly lower than 0.90, χ 2/df <3, root mean square of approximation <0.08, parsimonious goodness-of-fit index, and parsimonious normed fit index >0.50; all other model fitting requirements were satisfied, indicating that the model fitting was acceptable. We compiled the postoperative self-management assessment scale for patients with AD, which has demonstrated excellent reliability and validity and can be used as a tool to evaluate the postoperative self-management level in patients with aortic dissection.

Analysis of the influencing factors of the scientific fitness literacy of nurses in the context of exercise and medicine integration

ObjectiveThe present study aims to explore the influencing factors of the scientific fitness literacy of nurses and provide a strategic basis for literacy improvement.MethodsA questionnaire on the influencing factors of scientific fitness literacy of nurses was designed by the group conducting the present study; the questionnaire was based on the socioecology model and the questionnaire preparation method. The general data questionnaire and the questionnaire on the influencing factors of scientific fitness literacy of nurses were adopted to investigate nurses in tertiary hospitals in order to analyze and discuss the influencing factors of their scientific fitness literacy.Results(1) The questionnaire on the influencing factors of the scientific fitness literacy of nurses comprised five dimensions and 36 items. The overall item-content validity index was 0.833–1.000, the scale-content validity index was 0.974, and the overall Cronbach’s α coefficient was 0.955; (2) the results of the pairwise Pearson correlation analysis showed that all five dimensions were positively correlated with the scientific fitness literacy of nurses; and (3) the results of the multiple linear regression analysis revealed that five dimensions, as well as the existence of exercise habits in daily life, had a significant impact on the scientific fitness literacy of nurses (P < 0.001).ConclusionThe factors influencing the scientific fitness literacy of nurses involved all levels of the socioecological system. The methods of improving the awareness of the scientific fitness of nurses and providing opportunities for scientific fitness activities via the hospital played a critical role in literacy improvement. However, the lack of professional guidance and an atmosphere promoting scientific fitness might hinder literacy improvement.

Transitions of care: An aerodigestive provider assessment survey

ObjectiveTo create, validate, and apply an aerodigestive provider assessment survey. MethodsA survey assessing provider knowledge and current practice in the transition of patients with chronic aerodigestive disorders from pediatric to adult care was drafted by a multidisciplinary expert panel. Once agreement of the initial survey items was obtained, the survey was distributed to a national multidisciplinary panel of aerodigestive experts for review. Responses from the national panel were systematically quantified and a content validity index (CVI) was calculated. A final survey was developed and distributed to pediatric and adult aerodigestive providers. ResultsFrom the initial 22 items presented to the national panel, 20 of the initial questions were included in the final instrument. Two additional questions were developed as a result of feedback from the expert panel. All items included in the survey had an Item Content Validity Index (I-CVI) of >0.85. The average Scale CVI in proportion to the average proportion of relevance (S-CVI/Ave) for the tool was 0.88. The average Scale CVI in proportion to universal agreement (S-CVI/UA) was 0.52. The survey was then administered to pediatric and adult specialty providers at our institution. Twenty-two providers completed the final survey. ConclusionThe content validity index measurements from this newly developed survey suggest that it is a valid tool for assessing current knowledge and practice in care transitions among patients with complex aerodigestive needs. The survey developed in this project has been used to identify knowledge gaps and process issues that can be addressed to ease the transition of adolescents from pediatric specialty care into adult specialty care.

Development and psychometric evaluation of the asthma Action plan questionnaire (AAPQ)

Objective To develop a practical and psychometrically sound tool to evaluate caregiver knowledge of their child’s asthma action plan (AAP). Methods A pilot study was conducted in a sample of 40 caregivers of children with asthma to assess the content validity, item difficulty, and item discrimination of the Asthma Action Plan Questionnaire (AAPQ). The inter-rater and intra-rater agreement of the AAPQ’s scoring rubric were also examined. Subsequently, a large-scale study was conducted in a sample of 80 caregivers of children with asthma and 40 caregivers of children without current asthma and no prior exposure to patients with asthma to evaluate the internal consistency, test-retest reliability, and known-groups validity of the AAPQ. Results The 7-item AAPQ demonstrated acceptable content validity (a scale-content validity index of 0.98) and internal consistency (Cronbach’s alpha =.63 and mean inter-item correlation coefficient of .20) and very strong test-retest reliability over a two-to-four-week period (r = .88, p < .001). The AAPQ discriminated between caregivers of children with asthma and caregivers of children without asthma (M ± SD 8.3 ± 1.6 vs. 4.3 ± 1.7, p < .001, respectively). Conclusion The AAPQ is a valid and reliable questionnaire that provides an assessment of caregivers’ knowledge of their child’s AAP and can guide educational interventions by healthcare providers.

Psychometric properties evaluation of the Advance Care Planning Readiness Scale for community-dwelling older adults with chronic diseases residing in suburban counties within the Chinese context.

To evaluate the psychometric properties of the Advance Care Planning Readiness Scale (ACPRS-C) within the context of community-dwelling older adults with chronic diseases residing in suburban counties in China. Descriptive, cross-sectional survey. The research method employed in this study is characterized as a methodological study. Self-reported survey data were collected among community-dwelling older adults with chronic diseases residing in suburban counties in China. Including the following psychometric characteristics, item analysis was performed using the decision value method and Pearson's correlation analysis. Content validity was assessed through expert panel evaluation. The internal consistency of the questionnaire was determined by calculating Cronbach's alpha coefficient and corrected item-total correlation. Additionally, confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was utilized to assess the construct validity of the ACPRS-C. A total of 228 older adults participated in this psychometric study from August to October 2023. The item content validity index ranged from 0.80 to 1.00, while the scale content validity index was 0.945. The scale demonstrated excellent internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha = 0.931), and the correlation between items and total score was satisfactory. The structural validity was deemed robust (CFA model fit: chi-square/df = 1.121, comparative fit index = 0.992). The ACPRS-C is a scale with strong psychometric properties to assess the ACP readiness within the context of community-dwelling older adults with chronic diseases residing in suburban counties in China. Its reliability and validity hold considerable significance for both research and clinical practice.

Culturally adapted cognitive assessment tool for Indigenous communities in Brazil: Content, construct, and criterion validity.

Initial dementia prevalence estimates have revealed a significant burden of the disease in Indigenous communities in Amazonas, Brazil. However, the need for culturally adapted cognitive tools poses a critical challenge when assessing cognitive performance in these communities. This study addressed this issue by culturally adapting and providing validity indicators for the Brazilian Indigenous Cognitive Assessment (BRICA) tool in Manaus, Brazil's urban multiethnic Indigenous community. Using a three-stage process and a stakeholder-engaged approach, the BRICA tool was culturally adapted in an urban multiethnic Indigenous community from Manaus, Brazil. The content validity index (CVI) examined inter-rater concordance between experts, while criterion and concurrent validity were performed using diagnostic consensus criteria in 141 Indigenous participants aged ≥ 50 years. Findings showed evidence of content validity in terms of equivalence aspects (scale CVI [S-CVI] 0.93) and relevance ratings (S-CVI 0.85) between expert panels. The identified cut-off score of ≤ 33/39 on the BRICA demonstrated a sensitivity of 94.4%, specificity of 99.2%, positive predictive value of 94.4%, and negative predictive value of 99.2% for dementia diagnosis. Using a stakeholder-engaged approach, we culturally adapted the BRICA tool for a Brazilian urban multiethnic Indigenous community. This comprehensive adaptation process resulted in favorable indicators of content, construct, and criteria validity for the BRICA tool. By addressing the existing bias in cognitive assessment within Indigenous communities, the BRICA tool represents a noteworthy breakthrough. Its implementation exhibits potential for improving the early detection and management of dementia among Indigenous groups. Culturally sensitive tools are essential to assess cognition in Indigenous populations.An expert panel and stakeholders' perspectives were incorporated to design the Brazilian Indigenous Cognitive Assessment (BRICA) tool.A cognitive screening tool was adapted and validated using a stakeholder approach.BRICA is the first culturally sensitive cognitive tool for urban Brazilian Indigenous individuals.

Adaptation and validation of the Turkish version of the alarm fatigue assessment questionnaire

ObjectiveAlarm fatigue may endanger the safety of patients by negatively affecting nurses' concentration and ability to provide effective care. Identifying alarm fatigue and taking appropriate measures are critical in preventing medical errors and for nurses to work with high motivation. This study aimed to test the psychometric properties of the Turkish version of the 23-item Alarm Fatigue Assessment Questionnaire (AFAQ). MethodThe study was conducted between February 2022 and April 2022 and included nurses with at least one year of clinical or intensive care experience. The data were collected via a web-based questionnaire. During the adaptation of AFAQ, language, content, and construct validity were evaluated; reliability was examined by internal consistency analysis. ResultsThe item and scale content validity index of AFAQ were found to be high (>0.80). The Kaiser–Meyer–Olkin measure of sampling adequacy indicated an adequate sampling (0.85); Bartlett's test of sphericity χ2 was 1935.074, p<0.001. Exploratory factor analysis (EFA) showed that the 21-item scale had a five-factor structure, explaining 51.606% of the total variance, and the factor loadings of the items were >0.30 (0.422−0.803). Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) showed that the five-factor model had a good fit index (χ2/df=1.855, SRMR=0.039, RMSEA=0.048, CFI=0.915, and TLI=0.908) and appropriate factor loadings (>0.30). The internal consistency of AFAQ (Cronbach's alpha coefficient) was 0.85, and the corrected item-total correlations were between 0.32−0.55. ConclusionThe results indicated that the Turkish version of the Alarm Fatigue Assessment Questionnaire was sufficiently valid and reliable to measure alarm fatigue in nurses.

Translation, cultural adaptation, and psychometric validation of the Provider Attitudes toward Cardiac Rehabilitation and Referral (PACRR-C) Scale in Simplified Chinese.

The Provider Attitudes toward CR and Referral (PACRR) scale was translated into Simplified Chinese and psychometric validation ensued. Brislin's Translation Model was applied, with two independent forward translations followed by back-translation. Experts assessed the face, content and cross-cultural validity of items, and item analysis followed. For validation, 227 physicians from hospitals in 14 Chinese provinces completed the PACRR-C. Structural validity was assessed through exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis. Internal and split-half reliability were assessed. Some items were rephrased and one item was deleted. The content validity index for the total scale was 0.965. The correlation coefficients between the 18 items and the total scale ranged between 0.28 and 0.76. Consistent with the English version, four factors were extracted (Cronbach's alpha ranged from 0.671-0.959) through the factor analysis, accounting for 71.21% of the total variance. Split-half reliability was 0.945. The greatest factors impacting physician's CR attitudes were inconvenience of the referral process (3.93 ± 0.65/5); lack of standard referral forms (3.92 ± 0.66), perceiving referral as the responsibility of another clinician (3.89 ± 0.67), and need for support in completing the referral form (3.89 ± 0.64). The reliability, as well as content, face, cross-cultural, and structural validity of the 18-item, 4-subscale PACRR-C, were supported.

Validity and reliability of the Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale Short Form in Indonesian non-clinical population.

Emotion dysregulation is a transdiagnostic marker for vulnerability and has high comorbidity rates across various range of disorders among adolescents and young adults, highlighting the crucial need for precise assessment tools to recognize its significant impact on well-being. The Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale Short Form (DERS-SF) is a comprehensive instrument designed to measure the ability to regulate emotion. This study aimed to investigate the psychometric properties of DERS-SF among the non-clinical population, particularly high school and university students in Indonesia. A total of 738 senior high school and university students completed the Indonesian version of DERS-SF and standard questionnaires to assess its validity, consisting of the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS), the Beck Depression Inventory-II (BDI-II) for young adults and the Children Depression Inventory (CDI) for adolescents. Three models were examined in factorial validity tests using confirmatory factor analysis. The results showed that DERS-SF had an overall good internal consistency with Cronbach's alpha coefficient of.89 for the 18-item version,.90 for the 17-item version, and.91 for the 15-item version. Test-retest reliability was moderate with a value of.67. In addition, it had good satisfactory content as shown by item content validity index (I-CVI) = .96 and scale content validity index (S-CVI) = .83, as well as convergent validity. All subscales scores showed a positive and strong correlation with DASS, BDI-II, and CDI except awareness. Based on confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), the correlated 6-factor model excluding item number 6, and the 5-factor model excluding awareness were suitable to use in non-clinical populations. This study established the removal of the awareness subscale in the DERS-SF Indonesian version, resulting in better reliability and validity than the original version with complete subscales.

Face and content validity of a mobile delirium screening tool adapted for use in the medical setting (eDIS-MED): Welcome to the machine.

Following a user-centred redesign and refinement process of an electronic delirium screening tool (eDIS-MED), further accuracy assessment was performed prior to anticipated testing in the clinical setting. Content validity of each of the existing questions was evaluated by an expert group in the domains of clarity, relevance and importance. Questions with a Content Validity Index (CVI) <0.80 were reviewed by the development group for potential revision. Items with CVI <0.70 were discarded. Next, face validity of the entirety of the tests was conducted and readability measured. A panel of five clinical experts evaluated the test battery comprising eDIS-MED. The content validity process endorsed 61 items. The overall scale CVI was 0.92. Eighty-eight per cent of the responses with regard to question relevancy, usefulness and appropriateness were positive. The questions were deemed fifth grade level and very easy to read. A revised electronic screening tool was shown to be accurate according to an expert group. A clinical validation study is planned.

Development, Validation, and Cross Cultural Adoption of Persian Version of Behavioral Risk Factor Tool.

One of the most crucial objectives of policymakers is to enhance the population's overall health. Establishing a surveillance system is a way to achieve this goal. The Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) is a national system that collects data on the health-related behaviors of the United States residents using the Behavioral Risk Factor Questionnaire (BRFSSQ). This survey is aimed at reducing risk behaviors and their consequences. Regarding the fact that the cultural environment within each country may affect how behaviors are assessed, this study aimed to develop a Persian version, cross-cultural adaptation, and assess the validity and reliability of the PBRFSSQ. In this cross-sectional study, 250 individuals were enrolled using the stratified sampling method between August 2022 and April 2023. Six steps of translation and test method proposed by Sousa et al was used. Content and face validity were calculated. Also, the Cronbach's alpha and test-retest were computed. Of all participants, 54.5% were male and aged 30 to 65 years old (69%). The Scale Content Validity Index was equal to 0.95. The Intra class Correlation Coefficient (ICC) was computed as 0.86, 0.88, and 0.87 for the core, optional, and total components, respectively. Furthermore, the Cronbach's alpha coefficient of 0.85 was obtained overall. This tool was highly valid and reliable for assessing risky behaviors among the Iranian general population.

Knowledge, Awareness, and Practice of Safety and Emergency Response Among Scuba Divers in Malaysia: Questionnaire Development and Validation.

Safety has become paramount to ensure that scuba diving continues to expand into new markets, with minimal risks, and that scuba diving translates into a safe and relaxed adventure in response to growing market demands. Research focusing on assessing the knowledge, awareness, and practices (KAP) regarding safety and emergency response among scuba divers has been limited, and there is a need for validated assessment tools in this area. This study involved 555 scuba divers in Malaysia, and the questionnaire underwent a thorough development and validation process, including content and face validity assessments, as well as exploratory factor analysis. The validation of the knowledge domain was conducted using Item Response Theory (IRT) analysis, while awareness and practice were validated through exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses (EFA and CFA). The content validity of the instrument was confirmed, with all items scoring over 80% for Item Content Validity Index (I-CVI), Scale Content Validity Index (S-CVI), and Scale Content Validity Index/Average (S-CVI/AVE). The initial draft comprises three domains: knowledge, awareness, and practice. Knowledge items were analyzed using IRT and demonstrated acceptable difficulty and discrimination levels. For the awareness and practice domains, EFA showed a Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin measure (KMO) of 0.83 and 0.79, respectively, with a significant Bartlett's test of Sphericity (P < 0.001). EFA yielded three factors for both awareness and practice domains with a total of 12 items for awareness and 13 items for practice, with satisfactory factor loadings (≥0.3). The final model of CFA showed good fits for both awareness and practice domains in terms of absolute, parsimonious, and comparative measures. The composite reliability of awareness was acceptable with Raykov's rho of 0.71, whereas the practice domain fell slightly below the acceptable threshold at 0.55. This was attributed to low factor loading and a limited number of items within each factor. The final questionnaire now consists of 20 items for knowledge, 10 items for awareness, and 12 items for the practice domain. The results of this validation and reliability study indicate that the newly developed questionnaire possesses favorable psychometric properties for assessing KAP related to safety and emergency response in the scuba diving context. This research is essential for harmonizing the perspectives of crucial stakeholders within the recreational scuba diving industry.

Content Validation for a Medical-Surgical Orientation Competency Assessment Instrument.

Demonstration of competency is an essential component of nursing orientation in the practice environment. Standardization of the assessment with a validated instrument supports high-quality care and patient safety. This study engaged six nurse experts to establish content validation for a newly developed competency-based assessment framed by the domains of the national standard for nursing education. Two rounds of rigorous review resulted in a scale content validity index universal agreement calculation of .891, indicating that all items were evaluated as relevant for inclusion in this comprehensive measure of registered nurse clinical competency in the medical-surgical specialty.

Development of a Novel Pictorial Questionnaire to Assess Knowledge and Behaviour on Ergonomics and Posture as Well as Musculoskeletal Pain in University Students: Validity and Reliability

Background: Good posture is characterised by neutral spinal alignment with high physiological and biomechanical efficiency together with low stress and strain. The purpose of this study was to assess the validity and reproducibility of the adult version of the Aristegui questionnaire in university students. Materials and methods: The study was conducted in two parts. The first part assessed content validity of the questionnaire where five experts provided their feedback on the content of the questionnaire. The second part evaluated the reliability of the questionnaire among a convenience sample of 10 university students in a test–retest study. Results: The content validity of the questionnaire was found to be excellent. Twenty-five out of twenty-seven items had an item content validity index higher than 0.79 (appropriate) and the scale content validity index was 0.93 (high). For the reliability, almost perfect agreements were found for nine items, substantial agreement for three questions, moderate agreement for one item and fair agreement for one item. The kappa coefficients ranged from 0.00 (slight) to 1.00 (perfect) for the items on behaviour. Conclusions: The questionnaire was found to be a valid and reliable tool to measure the university students’ knowledge regarding ergonomics and posture and postural behaviour as well as prevalence of musculoskeletal pain.

Cross-Cultural Adaptation and Validation of the Persian Version of the M. D. Anderson Dysphagia Inventory.

Introduction Dysphagia is a common issue in patients with head and neck cancer (HNC) and is known to negatively impact their quality of life. To evaluate the impact of dysphagia on the quality of life of HNC patients, the M. D. Anderson Dysphagia Inventory (MDADI) questionnaire was developed. Objective The present study aimed to culturally adapt and validate the MDADI for Persian-speaking individuals. The MDADI is a self-administered questionnaire designed to assess the impact of dysphagia on the quality of life of HNC patients. Methods The original MDADI questionnaire was translated into Persian using the forward-backward method, following the guidelines of the World Health Organization (WHO) for cultural adaptation. The content validity of the Persian version, MDADI-P, was assessed by 10 speech-language pathologists using the content validity index (CVI). Seventy-five HNC patients completed the MDADI-P to evaluate its convergent validity, which was determined by comparing the results with the Short-Form 36 (SF-36) questionnaire. Internal consistency and test-retest reliability were assessed using Cronbach α coefficient and intraclass correlation (ICC), respectively. Results The scale content validity index (S-CVI) for the MDADI-P was 0.90, indicating good content validity. The MDADI-P demonstrated satisfactory internal consistency (Cronbach α coefficient = 0.728) and test-retest reliability (ICC = 0.91). The total MDADI-P score exhibited a significant correlation with the physical and mental components of the SF-36 (0.456 and 0.349, respectively, p < 0.05). Conclusion The findings of the present study confirm the suitability of the MDADI-P in terms of content validity, construct validity, internal consistency, and test-retest reliability.

Assessment of the Psychometric Properties of the Online Education Student Satisfaction Scale: A Methodological Study.

Background and Purpose: Assessing student satisfaction is essential in evaluating the quality of education. The number of valid and reliable tools that measure students' satisfaction with online education is limited. This methodological study aimed to assess the psychometric properties of the online education student satisfaction scale. Methods: Eleven academicians from the nursing field provided expert opinions on content validity. Separate 25 students evaluated the language clarity of the draft scale. The study sample included 525 third- and fourth-year nursing students. Finally, a group of 30 nursing students different from the sample participated in the test-retest. The study created an item pool based on the recent literature. The researchers calculated the items' content validity rates and the scale's content validity index by taking the experts' opinions. In addition, item-total score correlation analysis, exploratory factor analysis, discrimination analysis, stability test, and internal consistency analysis were performed. Results: An item with a low-correlation value was excluded from the scale. The correlation coefficients of the remained items were between .536 and .811. In the second round of exploratory factor analysis, a five-factor structure emerged that explained 72.1% of the total variance. In addition, item discrimination, stability, and internal consistency test results ensured that the scale was valid and reliable. Conclusions: The online education student satisfaction scale with five subdimensions containing 28 items is a valid and reliable tool. Researchers, educators, and managers may use it to evaluate students' satisfaction with online education.

Documentation Completeness and Nurses' Perceptions of a Novel Electronic App for Medical Resuscitation in the Emergency Room: Mixed Methods Approach.

Complete documentation of critical care events in the accident and emergency department (AED) is essential. Due to the fast-paced and complex nature of resuscitation cases, missing data is a common issue during emergency situations. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of a tablet-based resuscitation record on documentation completeness during medical resuscitations and nurses' perceptions of the use of the tablet app. A mixed methods approach was adopted. To collect quantitative data, randomized retrospective reviews of paper-based resuscitation records before implementation of the tablet (Pre-App Paper; n=176), paper-based resuscitation records after implementation of the tablet (Post-App Paper; n=176), and electronic tablet-based resuscitation records (Post-App Electronic; n=176) using a documentation completeness checklist were conducted. The checklist was validated by 4 experts in the emergency medicine field. The content validity index (CVI) was calculated using the scale CVI (S-CVI). The universal agreement S-CVI was 0.822, and the average S-CVI was 0.939. The checklist consisted of the following 5 domains: basic information, vital signs, procedures, investigations, and medications. To collect qualitative data, nurses' perceptions of the app for electronic resuscitation documentation were obtained using individual interviews. Reporting of the qualitative data was guided by Consolidated Criteria for Reporting Qualitative Studies (COREQ) to enhance rigor. A significantly higher documentation rate in all 5 domains (ie, basic information, vital signs, procedures, investigations, and medications) was present with Post-App Electronic than with Post-App Paper, but there were no significant differences in the 5 domains between Pre-App Paper and Post-App Paper. The qualitative analysis resulted in main categories of "advantages of tablet-based documentation of resuscitation records," "challenges with tablet-based documentation of resuscitation records," and "areas for improvement of tablet-based resuscitation records." This study demonstrated that higher documentation completion rates are achieved with electronic tablet-based resuscitation records than with traditional paper records. During the transition period, the nurse documenters faced general problems with resuscitation documentation such as multitasking and unique challenges such as software updates and a need to familiarize themselves with the app's layout. Automation should be considered during future app development to improve documentation and redistribute more time for patient care. Nurses should continue to provide feedback on the app's usability and functionality during app refinement to ensure a successful transition and future development of electronic documentation records.

Validation of a Mathematics Teaching Assessment Scale for K-12 Basic Education: A Confirmatory Factor Analysis Approach

Mathematics teaching in the K-12 Basic Education Curriculum encourages educators to adopt student-centered approaches and emphasize the development of 21st-century skills. Assessing the pedagogical practices of mathematics teachers using a specific tool validated through quantitative approaches is essential to ensure the effectiveness and quality of mathematics instruction. While previous research has focused on instrument validation in various areas, including self-efficacy of math teachers, mathematics teachers’ anxiety, and online education, existing classroom observation tools have limitations, particularly in assessing public school teachers' performance specifically intended for mathematics teachers. This study aimed to validate a mathematics teaching assessment scale. The scale, constructed based on the Department of Education's classroom observation tool, initially comprised 22 items across four constructs: Mastery of the K-12 Mathematics, Teaching Methodologies, ICT Integration, and Assessment of Learning. The scale was validated through content validation, reliability testing, inter-item correlation, confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), convergent validity, and discriminant validity. A total of 687 mathematics teachers from four public schools in each of the five municipalities of the National Capital Region participated. Content validity was established by eight experts using the Scale Content Validity Index and Item-Content Validity Index, with indices exceeding 0.833, indicating validity. Each construct demonstrated desirable reliability indices based on Cronbach's alpha and composite reliability coefficients. Confirmatory Factor Analysis removed six indicators, resulting in a final scale of 16 items across four constructs. The validated instrument can effectively evaluate mathematics teachers' classroom teaching, focusing on 21st-century skills and student-centered approaches.
