The article presents the results of researching to identify the influence of the such font characteristics as typeface, size, tracking, horizontal scaling of characters and their combinations on readability of the textual information and quality indicators of inkjet and electrophotographic printing.The research was conducted in two directions: the first one — the influence of font characteristics (type family, size of type, tracking, zooming of symbols horizontally and their combination) on the speed of perception and readability of text information; the second is the influence of the font characteristics on digital printing reproduction. Five sets were selected for the study: Times New Roman, NewtonC, AcademyC; FuturisC, Franklin Gothic Book.According to the results of the research, it has been determined that the use of combined changes is most influenced by readability, namely, tracking by -10 and reducing the width of the character by 2 %, tracking by -10 and reducing the width of the character by 5 %, tracking by -30 and reducing the width symbol for 2 % for all study sets.According to the results of the analysis of the influence of the characteristics of the font on the printing reproduction of imprints by digital printing installed: for Times New Roman, NewtonC headsets significant distortion of the dashed elements is characteristic, the change in the width of the connecting stroke reaches 100 %; for the AcademyC headset, the most distortion of strokes is observed in the text with a tracking change of -10 and -30. Distortions for other parameters are significant, the use of scaling and combined parameters is not feasible, the form of the serifs and the boundaries of the dashed elements are fuzzy; there is an interruption of the strokes for the pins ≤10 pt; for futurisC headsets, the Franklin Gothic Book features jet print imprints that are characterized by distortion of bar elements that do not exceed 23 %, which means better playback of these headsets compared to serial headsets. For ink jet printing in two inks, a slight distortion of the dashed elements is characteristic.The result of researching is to develop guidelines on the use of optimal parameters of printing the textual information without reducing readability and perception of information in preparing layouts to reproduce using digital printing.
