Dr. Stanley Melville, our president, died suddenly from heart trouble on April 6. His loss will be very keenly felt by a wide circle of friends, especially among radiologists. Stanley Melville was born on June 1, 1867, at Liverpool, and was educated there and at University College, London. He took his L.S.A. in 1891, M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (later M.R.C.P.) in 1893, and the M.D. degree with honours at the University of Brussels in 1899, and was also called to the Bar at Lincoln's Inn. Melville, after some years of private practice, became interested in radiology, and was in turn radiologist to the West London Hospital, St. George's Hospital, and the Brompton Hospital for Diseases of the Chest. In due course he was consulting radiologist to the Midhurst Sanatorium, the Ventnor Hospital for Consumption, the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, and the Grosvenor Hospital for Women.
