Abstract A field (Tift loamy sand) was made into flat beds then divided into plots 4 rows (12 ft) wide and 50-ft long with 4 replications in RCB. The plots were divided into two 2-row sub plots treated and not treated with Mocap 10G at 8.0 lb ai/acre for nematode control. Each main plot was also paired with a 2-row untreated check plot. These and other insecticidal granules were broadcast over the beds by hand using a perforated can. Raised beds were then formed with a Vari-Tiller thus incorporating the granules. Sweet potato vine cuttings were transplanted the same day on Jul 25. Some plots also received granules broadcast by hand over the vines at root swelling on Sep 7. Plots were harvested on Dec 1 and 25 randomly selected roots per plant were examined for insect damage.
