Abstract This research aims to find out how the role of interpersonal communication in maintaining inter-ethnic harmony in Bandar Selamat Village, Medan Tembung Sub-district. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach sourced from interviews, observations, and documentation then uses Joseph A Devito's interpersonal communication theory. The selection of informants using purposive sampling technique is as many as 7 informants. The results showed that interpersonal communication has an important role in maintaining cross-ethnic harmony. How to maintain cross-ethnic harmony by conducting gatherings and greeting each other between cross-ethnic communities. The application of interpersonal communication has been effective based on Devito's interpersonal communication theory. The obstacles are age differences and the language used daily. Children Positive Behaviour and the role of Interpersonal Communication in Family

This research is motivated by a decline in the intensity of face to face communication that exists within a family. The purpose of this study is to know the role of parent openness, parent empathy, parent support, positive sense of parent, parent position similarity in the formation of positive behavior of children. This study approach by using qualitive study with descprive method whice become subject in this research are family whose having many children and family whose having single child. In this study there are DeVito theories of interpersonal communication factors in shaping positve behavior of openess, empathy, positive sense, and similarity and as for positive behavior measured from the attitude of discipline, work hard honest, faithfull, responsible, tolerent, efficient, and be cautious to God Almighty. Researchers use post-positivism paradigm, in depth interview data collection techniques and literature study. The result of research of the role of communication beteween parints in the formation of positive behavior there are several factor – factors of openess, empathy, supportive attitude, positive attitude, and equality. This study concluded that the behavior of children can be formed positive the must be balanced with parent role. Where interpersonal communication is the most effective communications in the formation of positive behavior of children because communication as a tool for parenting and tools for the role model and interpersonal communication is well established in the family resulted in the formation of positive behavior of children.

The Role of Interpersonal Communication of Educators for Students with Special Needs at Tat Wam Asi Special School in Baubau

The aim of this research is to understand the role of interpersonal communication between educators and special needs students, as well as to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors in implementing interpersonal communication at SLB Tat Twam Asi. The method used in this research is a qualitative method. Data collection was carried out through three methods: observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing.The results of the research indicate that the role of interpersonal communication between educators and students at SLB Tat Twam Asi significantly influences various aspects within the school, especially in the learning domain. Interpersonal communication affects learning activities, play, and all interactions of students at school. It serves as a bridging tool between educators and students in their interactions. Without well-established interpersonal communication, the learning process becomes difficult to conduct. Personal approaches by educators to students help create a comfortable and enjoyable learning environment. The supporting factors include school facilities and the close relationship between educators and students. The inhibiting factors are the lack of classrooms and educators, lack of parental support, and the mental disorders experienced by the students.

Social norms, vaccine confidence, and interpersonal communication as predictors of vaccination intentions: Findings from slum areas in Varanasi, India

In recent years, India has seen significant improvements in childhood immunization, but rates among the urban poor remain stagnant. Disruptions during COVID-19 pandemic have created further challenges. This paper focuses on how social norms, vaccine confidence, and interpersonal communication independently and jointly affect vaccine intentions among caregivers of infants living in six slum areas in Varanasi, India. Data for this study come from the baseline assessments conducted before implementing the Happy Baby Program, an intervention to improve vaccination attitudes and intentions. In-person interviews (N = 2,058) were conducted with caretakers of children up to two years old. Analyses showed that interpersonal communication about vaccines, descriptive norms, injunctive norms, and vaccine confidence were each associated with intentions to vaccinate in both a bivariate and, except for injunctive norms, a multivariate model. In addition, we found significant interactions among these variables, suggesting that the roles of interpersonal communication and vaccine confidence attenuated the relationship between social norms and vaccination intention. Overall, our model explained 46.2 % of the variance in vaccine intention. Given the strengths of the relationships observed in this study, intervention strategies should focus on enhancing social norms and vaccine confidence to promote vaccination.

Deep operational audio-visual emotion recognition

Emotions play a large role in interpersonal communication, marketing, healthcare and the service industry. For this reason, much research has been carried out on emotion classification until today. Audio-visual emotion recognition is a field within artificial intelligence and machine learning that focuses on recognizing and understanding human emotions from both visual and audio cues. It combines computer vision and audio processing techniques to analyze and interpret emotional states expressed by individuals. This paper presents a deep learning model developed over an operational neural network using multiple inputs and aimed at audio-visual emotion recognition. The proposed network utilizes both visual and audio information in an end to end approach. The primary objective of this work is to demonstrate that multi-input models can produce more efficient outcomes compared to single-input models in emotion classification. Another objective is to demonstrate the superior performance of weight calculation methods employed in operational neural networks compared to the conventional weight calculation methods used in convolutional neural networks. Therefore, we want to demonstrate that substituting convolutional neural network approaches with operational neural network methods can yield superior outcomes in emotion categorization models. In the proposed architecture, regular convolutional layers are replaced with operational layers. The experimental results demonstrate that the operational convolutional architecture performs better compared to the classical convolutional neural network architecture.

Role of Interpersonal Communication Using Artificial Intelligence: A Case Study on Improving Communication Quality in Library

This study aims to explore the role of ChatGPT and artificial intelligence (AI) in improving the quality of interpersonal communication in an online learning environment. The case study was conducted on an online learning platform that provides chat features and an AI chatbot. The study used a mixed method, with data collected through surveys and structured interviews of 30 online course participants. The results showed that using ChatGPT and AI in interpersonal communication can improve the quality of communication between course participants. In addition, course participants found it more convenient and easier to communicate with an AI chatbot than with fellow course participants. These findings suggest that ChatGPT and AI can be effective tools for improving the quality of interpersonal communication in an online learning environment, especially when interacting with strangers or in less comfortable situations. This study provides insight into how technology can be harnessed to improve social interaction in an educational context.

The role of Interpersonal Communication and Trust as antecedents of Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB)

Since Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) has been found to be a factor that plays an important role in achieving organizational goals and employee work productivity, a lot of research has been conducted by scholars to show this. Social exchange theory shows that the level of employee contribution is determined, in part, by the degree of trust between organizational members. The aim of this research is to find factors that play an important role in the emergence of OCB among employees. This study involves OCB, trust, and interpersonal communication. This study was conducted on production employees at a manufacturing company engaged in the production of medical equipment, totalling 114 employees using a survey method and quantitative approach, using a questionnaire as the main instrument. In this research, it was found that interpersonal communication and trust are factors that significantly influence employee OCB. Strengthening interpersonal communication and trust will increase OCB. In this research, it was also found that trust plays a role in mediating interpersonal communication and OCB. To increase OCB, organizations should first strengthen trust among employees.

The Role of Mothers' Interpersonal Communication with Adolescent Girls regarding Sex Education in Aceh Province, Indonesia

The issue of free sex is not an old story, and this incident happens almost every day to friends, family, neighbors, and even on social media. Free sex is a global issue that still occurs today and is reported in various countries, including the Aceh region of Indonesia. The problem is that discussing sex education is still considered taboo by some mothers, even with their teenage daughters. This research aims to describe (1) An understanding of sex education, (2) How adolescents receive sex education, and (3) How the role of interpersonal communication between mothers and adolescent girls is related to conveying knowledge about sex education. This research uses qualitative methods using several references from journals and books. The research results show that: (1) Sex education is a knowledge skill that must be immediately given to teenagers regarding sexual behavior to avoid anything that can cause negative effects. (2) Teenagers need information about sex education issues from those closest to them, including mothers. (3) The role of mothers is crucial in providing sex education to teenage girls so that they are not affected by free sex, even though this is considered taboo.

Children need interaction with others for their growth. Factors such as generational differences, good communication styles, and pressure from the environment can be obstacles in creating a healthy communication relationship between parents and children. In this study, interpersonal communication between parents and children on shaping the character of their children in Tangerang. Using qualitative research methods, this study explores communication interactions through observation and questioning deliberate participation, incorporating symbolic theory. The results of this study are that effective interpersonal communication can help parents understand the needs and feelings of their children. A parent who understands the needs and feelings of the child will be able to provide appropriate guidance and guidance to the child.

Decoding the Language of Strategy: The Role of Interpersonal Communication in Shaping Organizational Culture

This study looks at the impact of interpersonal communication on the culture of an organization, narrowing down to how employees respond to strategic messaging from top management and interpret it in their everyday actions. By means of a systematic review of literature, this study meticulously examines current empirical research via thematic synthesis for better understanding of the subject. The key findings emphasize the need for proper planning in strategic communication, also touches on leadership’s communicative style which affects organizational culture and talks about informal networks as a tool for shaping organizational understanding. In conclusion, this study argues that organizations should clearly articulate their strategic messages in line with their values, leaders should be empathetic in their communications and they should use informal networks to integrate cultures effectively. Practical implications include recommendations regarding strategic communication planning, enhancement of leadership development programs, and cultural sensitivity training. It is recommended that future researchers should overcome the limitations by addressing cultural and contextual variability as well as exploring the impact of emerging digital media tools on organizational dynamics.

Shareability: novel perspective on human-media interaction

Interpersonal communication in the twenty-first century is increasingly taking place within digital media. This poses the problem of understanding the factors that may facilitate or hinder communication processes in virtual contexts. Digital media require a human-machine interface, and the analysis of human-machine interfaces traditionally focuses on the dimension of usability. However, interface usability pertains to the interaction of users with digital devices, not to the interaction of users with other users. Here we argue that there is another dimension of human-media interaction that has remained largely unexplored, but plays a key role in interpersonal communication within digital media: shareability. We define shareability as the resultant of a set of interface features that: (i) make sharing of materials with fellow users easy, efficient, and timely (sharing-related usability); (ii) include features that intuitively invite users to share materials (sharing-related affordances); and (iii) provide a sensorimotor environment that includes perceptual information about both presented materials and the behavior of other users that are experiencing these materials through the medium at hand (support to shared availability). Capitalizing on concepts from semiotics, proxemics, and perceptual and cognItive neuroscience, we explore potential criteria to asses shareability in human-machine interfaces. Finally, we show how these notions may be applied in the analysis of three prototypical cases: online gaming, visual communication on social media, and online distance teaching.

The impact of current and historical reputation with non-uniform change on cooperation in spatial public goods game

In the complex human social environment, reputation plays an important role in interpersonal communication. Normally, individuals pay attention to their neighbors’ current and historical reputations during strategy learning, and the variation of individual reputation over time is often non-uniform. This paper proposes a new spatial public goods game model that involves current and historical reputation. An exponential function of the rounds in which the individual continuously maintains the cooperative or defective strategy unchanged is defined to reflect the change of the individual reputation. And two discount coefficients involving five parameters are introduced to the imitation probability of strategy learning. Simulation results indicate that high sensitivities of individuals to her/his own reputation, to the reputation of her/his neighbors, and to changes in neighbors’ historical reputations are all beneficial for the cooperative behavior of the system. And individual behavior of paying attention to changes in neighbors’ historical reputation is also beneficial for the cooperation, but attention to more historical reputation changes in neighbors does not further promote cooperative behavior. The sensitivity of the population to individual historical information about strategy has little impact on the cooperative behavior of the system.

A Comparative Study of Ethics and Communication Patterns in Online and Face-to-face Learning

The development of communication technology has resulted in a new style of communication. Communication between educators and students is no longer done face-to-face in schools. But few students also pay less attention to ethics when talking to teachers. Face-to-face learning is considered very effective compared to online learning.

GCF2-Net: global-aware cross-modal feature fusion network for speech emotion recognition.

Emotion recognition plays an essential role in interpersonal communication. However, existing recognition systems use only features of a single modality for emotion recognition, ignoring the interaction of information from the different modalities. Therefore, in our study, we propose a global-aware Cross-modal feature Fusion Network (GCF2-Net) for recognizing emotion. We construct a residual cross-modal fusion attention module (ResCMFA) to fuse information from multiple modalities and design a global-aware module to capture global details. More specifically, we first use transfer learning to extract wav2vec 2.0 features and text features fused by the ResCMFA module. Then, cross-modal fusion features are fed into the global-aware module to capture the most essential emotional information globally. Finally, the experiment results have shown that our proposed method has significant advantages than state-of-the-art methods on the IEMOCAP and MELD datasets, respectively.

Human beings have influenced each other for centuries through communication. Thanks to communication, people contributed to their development and transferred their feelings and thoughts to each other. Since the existence of humanity, the transfer of cultures to future generations has also been realized through communication. Therefore, communication has been instrumental in meeting many needs of people at the same time. Communication initially provides the formation of the value judgments of the individual, his family, his environment and then the society in which he lives. Communication brings along the learning process. Learning does not take place only in the classroom environment, it exists in all areas of life. Learning that takes place by shaping the behavior of people's knowledge and skills is long and permanent. In particular, the behaviors of preschool children allow the creation of more effective behaviors in the coming years together with learning. In this study, the role of interpersonal communication on the behavior patterns of preschool students is investigated. It has been observed that it is very important in shaping the behavior patterns of preschool students through interpersonal communication. In addition, it was concluded that in the educational environment, students formed a unique behavior pattern by not ignoring interpersonal communication elements.

The Role of Interpersonal Communication in the Empowerment of Female Heads of Household in Cianjur, Indonesia

The potential of female heads of households is very important to be developed, but unfortunately they have not been able to fully participate because they still have limited power and a weak position in society. To empower them, an empowerment program for female heads of households is carried out. This research describes efforts conducted by members of the program to overcome hindrances faced in their position as female heads of household, particularly within their roles in both domestic and public spaces. This study uses a case study approach in which data were collected using in-depth interviews to eight informants including PEKKA members, officers, and corresponding household members. Participatory observations are conducted in three months, looking into PEKKA-related activities and the informants daily practices. The findings from this study reveal that through close and dialogic communication processes between the female heads of household and PEKKA officers, they can openly share their problems and receive support to solve their problems. Interpersonal communication helps the female heads of household in gaining trust and becoming role models for their families. This form of communication also enables wives to gain their husbands’ trust and render them equal partners. It is concluded that through the processes of interpersonal communication, female heads of household can position themselves as subjects that challenge the impeding patriarchal values. Interpersonal communication in the PEKKA program, both as practice and shared knowledge, is considered effective as a means to empower female heads of household. Peran Komunikasi Interpersonal di Whatsapp ODOJ dalam Memotivasi Minat baca Al-Qur’an di kalangan Anggotanya

Interpersonal communication is the process of transmission and acceptance of a message done by the messenger with the recipient both directly and indirectly. Motivation has a role in the process of reading the Al-quran for members of organizations such as odoj (one day one juz) that could be compared to fuel to the fuel that runs within each individual in reading the Al-quran. The needed role of motivation was needed in the Al-quran reading activity in the odoj community (one day one juz). A member's difficulty in dividing his time in reading the Al-quran until it is late and does not report to read the Al-quran in a single day. This is due to lack of motivation and the difficulty with managing time. Therefore, the odoj community (one day one juz) community leaders apply interpersonal communication to motivate members to read the Al-quran one juz in one day. Researchers are therefore interested in research on the role of interpersonal communication in the whatsapp odoj (one day one juz) in moving interest in reading the Al-quran among its members.The type of research in this thesis writing is field research a descriptive qualitative study. The population in this study is 30 people and the sample in this study is 15 members, and 3 stewards of the odoj community (one day one juz). This data-collection technique uses interviews and documenting methods, using a descriptive analysis or written words, Oral, and observational behaviors. And the data analysis used based on descriptive analysis, it is divided into three of reduction, data presentation and data conclusions. The result of this research is that the role of interpersonal communication is taking place online using whatsapp media, giving motivation in the whatsapp group, offering advice and enthusiasm so that its members can complete their activities in reading the quran juz in one day. As for the factor that influences the role of interpersonal communication in motivating its members is the difficulty of managing time in the reading of the Al-quran, the laziness that always comes.
