Pesan Akhlak dalam Program ”Jejak Islam” TVRI Sumatera Utara: Analisis Semiotika

Examining the "Jejak Islam" show on North Sumatra TVRI's YouTube channel for its moral message is the purpose of this study. This study focuses on the "Jejak Islam" segment of "Penerang Hati" on TVRI North Sumatra. A qualitative methodology based on semiotic analysis was applied in this investigation. Following Roland Barthes's theory of denotation, connotation, and myth, the research design provides a detailed description of the signs utilized in the "Jejak Islam" program and how these signals generate meaning. Thanks to their genuine desire to teach and practice the braille Quran, the moral lessons delivered in the "Jejak Islam" program's episode of "Penerang Hati" through Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis comprise of morality towards God, according to the research results. Social norms pertaining to other people, including deference to authority figures (such as professors), friendship, politeness, and parental respect.

Angela Carter and Recreating Femininity in The Bloody Chamber: A Semiotic Analysis

Angela Carter's "The Bloody Chamber" stands as a transformative work in feminist literature, challenging entrenched gender norms and reshaping the landscape of contemporary storytelling. This paper delves into Carter's narrative prowess, exploring how her reimagining of traditional myths serves as a potent critique of patriarchal structures. Employing a qualitative research approach, this study utilizes a comprehensive literature review to analyse Carter's contributions to feminist discourse and the critical reception of her seminal work. Drawing on postmodern literary theories, particularly Roland Barthes's theory of myths, the paper examines Carter's deconstructive approach to storytelling and its implications for feminist literary criticism. Through meticulous analysis of Carter's narrative techniques, thematic preoccupations, and engagement with feminist discourse, this study offers fresh insights into the enduring relevance of "The Bloody Chamber" in contemporary literary studies. Ultimately, this paper contributes to a deeper understanding of Carter's literary interventions and their broader implications for gender representation and cultural discourse.

REPRESENTASI IDENTITAS LOMBOK DALAM AKUN INSTAGRAM “INSIDE LOMBOK”: ANALISIS SEMIOTIKA ROLAND BARTHES

Social media is the factor that influences different perspectives about Lombok's identity. This research aims to describe the meaning of images that represent Lombok's identity in the Instagram account “Inside Lombok” using Roland Barthes' semiotic theory. The method used in this research is a qualitative method with descriptive analysis. The analysis in this study uses Roland Barthes's theory, including denotative meaning, connotative meaning, and myth. ““Inside Lombok”'s” post is the source of this research regarding the outsider's perspective on Lombok identity and the perspective of Lombok people regarding Lombok's identity itself. The results of the study show that the representation of Lombok's identity depends on how people perceive Lombok. According to the three images, there are hidden meanings that only Lombok people can discover. Therefore, the representation in social media should be clear so that everyone has a similar viewpoint.

Analisis Semiotik Roland Barthes dalam Tradisi Kalomba Kajang

Kajang tribe is famous for its traditions and customs that are upheld. One of the kajang traditions that shows the tribal identity is kalomba tradition. Researchers are interested to know the meaning of philosophy in kalomba tradition for kajang people. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to analyze the denotative meaning, connotative meaning and myth using Roland Barthes theory in kalomba tradition in Kajang people. The approach used in this study is a descriptive qualitative approach. Based on the results of the study, conclusions were drawn on the denotative meaning of Kalomba tradition, namely as a gathering of families and local communities to eat together, listen to entertainment in the form of musical instruments, and melodious singing and prayer together for the future of children. While the meaning is connotative kalomba tradition as a traditional tradition kajang done by parents of Kajang descent who have children aged 3 to 8 years, they are obliged to do Kalomba with the aim that their child avoids hereditary diseases and bad luck that has been sworn by their ancestors. Based on the analysis of the meanings that have been described, there is a concept called hierofani. Hierofani is a manifestation or appearance of the sacred and exfolied in a tradition. In addition, Kalomba tradition is also a collective religious expression. Because every stage at the Kalomba event has the meaning of the philosophy of life that has become a myth in the middle of Kajang people. They believe that if they do not carry out the Kalomba tradition, they will be afflicted with bad luck and disease to their descendants.

기호학적 관점에서 본 중국 동시대 미술의 의미작용

This study employs semiotic theory to explore the visual symbols and their meanings in contemporary Chinese art. By analyzing the visual symbols of specific artworks through case studies and interpreting their meanings centered around Roland Barthes's theory of myth, the research delves into the association between art and semiotics in various artistic forms including two-dimensional, three-dimensional, and digital visual symbols. Focusing on works created after the 1979 'Star Art Exhibition', it provides a nuanced understanding of the semiotics and visual symbols in contemporary Chinese art, demonstrating semiotics as a valuable framework for in-depth analysis. The findings reveal that through semiotic analysis, contemporary Chinese art can be seen as a 'text' with profound socio-cultural meanings, enhancing our comprehension of the intricate interplay and deeper significations between contemporary art and signs.

Analisis Nilai Kehidupan Dalam Cerpen “Gubrak” Karya Seno Gumira Ajidarma Dengan Pendekatan Semiotika

Literary works are literary results, creations in the form of poems, prose, and plays (drama). Literary works are born as embodiments or depictions of life poured through the medium of writing. Therefore, it is closely related between literature and life. Through literature, the reader can express the meaning behind the work of the author. This research would examine a short story entitled "Gubrak!" by Seno Gumira Ajidarma. "Gubrak!" short story tells about a beauty that actually creates its own wounds. The purpose of this study was to describe the meaning of multiplication (perlexia) and the analysis of the five Barthes codes contained in the short story "Gubrak!" using Roland Barthes's theory of semiotics. The methods used in this study were qualitative descriptive methods as well as semiotic approaches with Roland Barthes' five-code semiotic theory consisting of hermeneutic codes, semic codes, symbolic codes, action codes, and referential codes. The result of this study was the discovery of 53 lexicons, each of which has a meaning, including 9 hermeneutic codes, 29 semic codes, 5 action codes, 3 referential codes, and 8 symbolic codes. Through this analysis, the meaning and message could be drawn that you have enough because anything excessive is not good. This research would analyze the hidden signs in each word or sentence in the short story. Barthes semiotics was used to find out the meaning contained in the short story so it is interesting to study using the Barthes five-code approach.

Semiotic Analysis of Patriotism in Hacksaw Ridge and Letters from Iwo Jima Movie

Each country have different meaning of Patriotism. Therefore, this research comparing on the movie of Hacksaw Ridge and Letters from Iwo Jima since both of the movies showed differences perspective of patriotism since both of them from different culture. The research aimed at revealing the semiotic of patriotism in Hacksaw Ridge and Letters from Iwo Jima movie. This research is based on Roland Barthes semiotic theory, Nathanson patriotism theory and Joana Japanese patriotism. The qualitative method was employed by analyzing the symbols that indicate the act of patriotism found in the movie. The research used a descriptive design. The object of the research is the character and the background of the set was taken. Document analysis was used as the instrument in order to get the valid data. There are 57 data that took from the 10 scenes from each movies to symbolize the Dennotative, Connotative and Myth. From the analysis, three types of symbols were found that showed by the character or the background set. They were data 33,33% of Dennotative (10 occurrences), 33,33% of Connotative(10 occurrences) and 33,33% of Myth(10 occurrences) in Hacksaw Ridge movie. As for the Letters From Iwo Jima, 37% of Dennotative (10 occurrences), 37% of Connotative (10 occurrences) and 26% of Myth (7 occurrrences). Influence of Music Industry on Fashion in Uganda

Purpose: The study sought to analyze influence of music industry on fashion in Uganda
 Materials and Methodology: The study adopted a desktop methodology. Desk research refers to secondary data or that which can be collected without fieldwork. Desk research is basically involved in collecting data from existing resources hence it is often considered a low cost technique as compared to field research, as the main cost is involved in executive’s time, telephone charges and directories. Thus, the study relied on already published studies, reports and statistics. This secondary data was easily accessed through the online journals and library.
 Findings: The results show that artists used expensive apparels to attract increased attention and following particularly online fan base. The style of fashion was determined by market demands. More than 30% of the online fans feel that the fashion used by artists and dancers is more revealing to arouse emotions and attachment to particular songs and artists. Music has long been known to influence fashion trends throughout the world. From music genres that emerged in different decades, musicians who have changed the way people dress and songs that capture a specific style or mood, music and fashion is undeniably intertwined. 
 Unique Contribution to Theory, Practices and Policies: The Roland Barthes theory and Music theory may be used to anchor future studies in the fashion sector. The study results will also benefit other stakeholders such as the policy makers as well as researchers and scholars from different parts of the world. The top management of fashion industries in the country will also use the study findings to improve music performance in all their activities and programs. The study recommends that the adoption of effective fashion development policies in the fashion industry will help to improve efficiency in their major operations and activities.

Decoding the myth of luxury in cosmetics herbal products advertisements

The study begins with a perilous standpoint of lovely images (female/male/child) in the mass media being regularly developed a formulaic typecasting concept of beauty. Quite a few feminine beauty myths have been grown in India during the contemporary times. The rise of cosmetic herbal advertisements portraying regressive images of womanly beauty to endorse products. Cosmetics perception of herbal integration is observed in respect to beauty myths portrayed by the media. The authors examine the structures of beauty myths of cosmetic herbals in India and their fundamental features. This is because of deep rooted androcentric dogma which portrays and objectifies the certain gender (especially women). Media vehemently disseminates much distorted concept of “beauty”. Brand changes their entire appearance with varied makeup products. There are evidently many products are available in the market which promises to bring a change in color/look/appearance altogether which is not always true but the study argues that the narratives of these cosmetic herbal products is creating an illusion. Roland Barthes's theory of mythology has been taken into consideration to understand the luxury of myth, and attributes of misleading information of media content. The study further directs to assimilate the perception of the consumers along with the semiology in depicting the beauty myth. There is a huge gap between women in reality and representative women in the mass media. It is very crucial to have a balanced perception of perceived images presented or drive by the mass media.

Semiotic Interpretation of ”Imperfect: Karir, Cinta dan Timbangan” Film by Using Roland Barthes Theory

This study about the semiotic interpretation of “Imperfect: Karir, Cinta dan Timbangan” film with Roland Barthes Theory. This study aims to (a) find out the signs that found in “Imperfect: Karir, Cinta dan Timbangan” film and (b) describe how the signs interpreted in “Imperfect: Karir, Cinta dan Timbangan” film. This reasearch uses descriptive qualitative method. The data were taken from words and phrases which are collected from ‘Imperfect: Karir, Cinta dan Timbangan’ film script. The results shows that there were 15 signs found in Imperfect: Karir, Cinta dan Timbangan film. Timbangan (balance) as the most frequent signs was about 8 data such as: stranded whale; stairs vibration; power head waste; eating tissue; broccoli hair; remember your thigh; you are so fat ya, but it’s OK it’s fresh; and both of you are so different, even you are sisterhood, followed by Cinta (love) with 4 data namely: moles; stretch mark, reduce the rice; and use sunblock, and 3 data for Karir (career) such as pregnant; round face; and she is so old school. The signs includes in Karir (career) when it relates to the development, growth, and progress of someone’s job/profession. The signs that associate to Cinta (love) connects to the deepest someone’s emotional and interpersonal affection. The signs Timbangan (balance) that have a correlation with someone’s weight and physical condition or appearance. Timbangan (balance) were realized by the utterance that refers to physical condition and closely to mock. Cinta (love) associate to the word, gesture, or utterances that express a love or deepest personal affection. Karir (career) was described by a simple word to mock that closely sounds sarcastic and exaggerating.

The Image of the Child in Jordanian Cinema: A Semiotic Study of "Theeb"

This research shows the image of the child in the Jordanian cinema. The study sample consisted is the semiotic analysis of the cinematic film "Theeb", where the researcher worked on analyzing four scenes (Master scene) from the film: the longest daytime scene, the longest night scene, the shortest daytime scene, and the shortest night scene, and analyze them semiologically. The researchers used Roland Barthes's theory of semiotic analysis. Roland Barthes divides the visual message into two parts, the "iconic message" which includes two connotations (designative and applied connotation) and the "linguistic message" (structural function and approach).The results indicated that the term child image in Jordanian and Arab cinema is a newly established term. Many individual initiatives have emerged that presented the image of the child in films and series. In general, the image of the child in the cinema has disappeared with the project to promote the child's dreams and what he aspires to in the future.

Internalization of Faith Educational Value in the Humanistic Perspective Riko Animation Series

Faith is the foundation of a building in Islam, someone who has strong faith will carry out worship in an orderly manner, have noble morals and behave well. To form a pious human personality, education is needed on the basis of faith. Strong faith will become a stronghold for unwanted values to be internalized. Faith education can be instilled through technology such as film. Among the films that can be used as learning media is Riko The Series, which is produced by Garis Ten Corporation.This study attempts to describe and analyze the film Riko the Series in internalizing the value of faith in Allah SWT and a humanistic view of the value of faith in Allah SWT in the film Riko the Series. This study uses a type of research library research by using the semiotic analysis technique of Roland Barthes theory. The results of the study show that: 1) The value of faith in Allah SWT contained in the Riko The Series film is grouped into three, namely: the value of doing good and compassion, the value of forgiveness, and the value of muhasabah which is pursued through several sequential and systematic stages, namely the stage transformation, transaction stage, and transinternalization stage which generally uses the advice method, the exemplary method, the habituation method, and the targhib method.

A SEMIOTIC ANALYSIS OF ALADDIN MOVIE BY USING ROLAND BARTHES THEORY

Movie is a picture or life event that is brought to the screen as a means of communication and entertainment. Messages or signs contained in the movie can be analyzed using semiotics. Semiotics is the study of signs. The aims of this research is to determine the types and meanings in semiotics by using Roland Barthes Theory. Roland Barthes developed the theory of semiotics into three stages, namely, denotation, connotation and myth. This research uses descriptive qualitative method. The data taken from scenes and script of Aladdin movie 2019. The researcher collect data by watching movie, observe main characters in scene and movie script, make take note and categorize sentence of semiotics by Roland Barthes theory and analyzes the results data. The types of signs found are denotation, connotation and myth. The researcher found 38 types and meanings of semiotics by Roland Barthes consisting of 21 types and meanings of denotation, 13 types and meanings of connotation and 4 types and meanings of myth. From the explanation above, the types and meanings of denotation is more dominant and the least is myth. The results of this study state that the type of semiotics by Roland Barthes can be used to explain the meaning of semiotics contained in it. The type of Semiotics by Roland Barthes in this movie also has different meanings in describing something according to the reference to the word or phrase used in the movie scene.

MEANING OF VERBAL AND NONVERBAL SIGN IN CIGARETTE ADVERTISEMENTS

Abstract
 This study entitled “The Meaning Of Verbal And Non Verbal Sign In Cigarette Advertisements". Advertisements usually contains signs both verbal and non-verbal signs. This study found there are signs contained in advertisement of verbal and non-verbal signs. These advertisements are depicted from the words, pictures and utterances that appear. By using theory purposed by Saussure (1983) and by using Roland Barthes theory (1967), in this study to discuss and analyzes verbal and non-verbal visual sign in cigarette advertisements. The data source of this study is the cigarette advertisements of Esse, Marlboro, Surya, LA Bold, Camel, GG Mild, Gudang Garam Signature, and Lucky Strike. This study used observation method to collect the data that both verbal and non-verbal sign cigarette advertisements contain hidden message.

PEMBERDAYAAN PEREMPUAN DALAM IKLAN NIKE WOMEN VERSI ‘WHAT WILL THEY SAY ABOUT YOU?

This Nike ad ‘What will they say about you?’ version, focus on female athletes who wear hijab so that they can carry out sports activities comfortably and do not need to think about the opinions of those around them who think that women wearing hijab are inappropriate to be athletes or do activities that are considered too masculine. This study aims to find and understand the meaning of the Nike ad ‘What will they say about you?’ version, through Roland Barthes's theory of Semiotics. This research used the qualitative interpretative method. The results of the study indicate that in the advertisement there are signs that have meaning directly or indirectly for the audience. Nike wants to show motivation and enthusiasm to all women, especially athletes who wear the hijab or to keep doing the sports they want without having to fear being judged by their social environment. With the tagline used in this advertising campaign, namely "Believe in More", Nike would like to say that, not all views, responses, or opinions against athletes are all bad and negative.

SEMIOTIC ANALYSIS IN FAMILY CONFLICTS ON THE FILM "ALI & RATU RATU QUEENS"

Film is one of the mass communication media that can be enjoyed by all circles. Ali & Ratu Ratu Queens is an Indonesian film that has family conflicts that are presented as the core of this film. In this study, the film Ali & Ratu Ratu Queens was analyzed using semiotic analysis according to Charles Sanders Peirce and semiotics according to Roland Barthes. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach in analyzing the symbols of family conflict according to the semiotics of Charles Sanders Peirce and Roland Barthes. The study lasted for one month by observing film footage. The analysis unit of this study is the film Ali & Ratu Ratu Queens and a collection of cuts of scenes in the film Ali & Ratu Ratu Queens. Using Charles Sanders Peirce's theory of semiotics and Roland Barthes's theory of semiotics. The results showed that the meaning of representations, objects, interpretants, denotations and connotations of the film Ali & Ratu Ratu Queens produced four symbols of family conflict: conflicts between married couples, conflicts between fathers and children, conflicts between mothers and children and conflicts with extended families

YOUTUBE SEBAGAI MEDIA AKTUALISASI PANDANGAN HIDUP ORANG SUNDA (ANALISIS SEMIOTIKA ROLAND BARTHES)

The massive use of YouTube as a social media for sharing video content can be used as a medium for actualizing Sundanese culture, including through film adaptations of Sundanese folklore into film media and aired on the YouTube platform. However, not all films with the theme of Sundanese culture that are aired on the YouTube platform have content that follows the values of the Sundanese worldview, namely the teachings about life passed down by the ancestors of the Sundanese. This research is descriptive qualitative research. The research aims to establish a representation of the values of the Sundanese worldview in the Lutung Kasarung film which aired on the YouTube platform. The research focuses on the unit of analysis in the form of scenes in the film that represent the values of the Sundanese worldview. Visual analysis of the film is carried out through the stages of description, analysis, interpretation, and assessment. Roland Barthes's theory of semiotics is used as an analytical technique to find out the denotative, connotative, and mythical meanings contained in the film. The results show that in the Lutung Kasarung film, 10 scenes represent the values of the Sundanese worldview, as well as a monomyth about the journey of a hero.

Semiotic Analysis of Beauty According to Roland's Barthes Theory in Relation to Indonesian and German Culture

A beauty has long been an interesting and important topic for women around the world. The concept of beauty cannot be generalized to all women in all parts of the world. Beauty for one community group is different from beauty for the other community groups because beauty is closely related to culture. In the era of globalization, which is characterized by the ease of obtaining various information, the opportunity to learn about the beauty concepts of different countries is as wide open as possible. For this purpose, cosmetic advertisements in the mass media play an important role. However, there are signs in the advertisement that reflect cultural elements, which can be studied semiotically. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method. This paper is a semiotic study that aims to present the meaning of beauty myths for Indonesian and German women, which are first examined through denotative and connotative meanings. The theory used is the semiotic theory of Roland Barthes. To see the difference in beautiful concepts from two different cultures, the data of Nivea skin care ads with Indonesian and German version are taken. In the results, there are differences of Indonesian and German beauty concept closely related to culture. The message of the beautiful Indonesian version shows that the woman is attractive and has a white skin, while the German version shows that the attractive level and skin color are not a priority, but women with the healthy skin.

Symbolic meaning on the poem of I wondered lonely as a Cloud (Daffodils) By William Wordswort's

This research is an analysis of a poem written by Willliam Wordswort. The writer analyses the Wordswort's poem titled I Wandered Lonely As a Cloud (Daffodils) to reveal the denotation and connoation as the symbolic meaning. To analyze it the writer uses qualitative-descriptive method to reveal the data. The writer also uses Roland Barthes theory to analyze the symbolic meaning on Wordsworth's poem. Reasearch finding on this analysis is tha the poem of Daffodils mostly uses the naturalistic symbol so that the writer concludes that the poem has full of message of the beauty and powerful of the universe. Wordswort wants us to know his feeling through all these naturalistic symbols.
