Living labs of agriculture in innovation districts

Based on the concepts of Knowledge-Based Urban Development (KBUD) and Living Labs (LL) of Agriculture, this article analyses the open innovation processes of two agricultural living labs: VivAgriLab on the Paris-Saclay campus in France and AgroLab Uniandes in Colombia, aiming to understand the adaptation possibilities of their models to Brazilian university campuses. The methodology used was Case Study involving bibliographic research, document analysis, and secondary data collection. Results show that VivAgriLab effectively integrates organised civil society around agriculture and environmental preservation through applied scientific research and open innovation processes. It demonstrates that agriculture-focused living labs can promote interaction and integration between society and academic research in agricultural production. VivAgriLab fosters meetings between researchers and stakeholders, encouraging transdisciplinary projects supporting the region's ecological, agroecological, and food transitions through a multisectoral approach. AgroLab Uniandes facilitates dialogue, co-creation, experimentation, and the integration of traditional, experiential, and scientific knowledge, focusing on research, technology, and education. While its high-tech solutions enhance efficiency in urban agriculture, they raise concerns about accessibility and scalability for small-scale and resource-limited farmers, potentially widening the gap between advanced and traditional practices. AgroLab and similar initiatives should pair technological innovations with robust education, training, and support programs to democratise urban agriculture, ensuring all farmers can benefit from and contribute to the evolving urban agriculture landscape. Each, in its way, contributes to sustainable development and presents a viable solution to the challenges faced by the scientific community in conducting applied and transdisciplinary research in real-world contexts.

Bilingualism in Legal Settings: Challenges and Solutions

Bilingualism plays an important role in legal systems by ensuring equitable access to justice and effective communication for diverse populations. This paper examines the historical evolution of bilingualism in legal contexts, emphasizing its importance in addressing linguistic diversity and fostering fairness in legal proceedings. Implementation of Good Corporate Governance in the Placement of Indonesian Army Members in State Civil Apparatus Positions in Ministries/Institutions Case Study of the Ministry of State Secretariat

This study examines the implementation of Good Corporate Governance (GCG) principles in placing Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) members into civil servant positions in Ministries/Agencies, specifically at the State Secretariat Ministry. The research focuses on assessing the impact of this placement on employee performance, with GCG aiming to improve efficiency, transparency, and accountability in the process. Using a qualitative approach and case study method, the study involves in-depth interviews with relevant stakeholders and analysis of internal documents. The findings suggest that placing TNI members in civil servant roles can enhance discipline, efficiency, and effectiveness, bringing in specialized expertise. However, challenges such as cultural differences, lack of bureaucratic experience, and potential conflicts of interest also emerge. The study emphasizes the importance of consistent GCG implementation, including transparent selection processes, accountability in performance evaluations, and robust training programs. It also suggests mitigation strategies to address integration challenges, such as orientation programs, forming integration teams, and fostering greater awareness. Investigating the Quick Response (QR) Code Application in Internal Audit Report: Unqualified Opinion vs Unqualified Without Inspection

This study examines the implementation of Quick Response (QR) codes in Independent Auditor's Reports (IARs) and explores the discrepancy between "Unqualified Opinion" and "Unqualified Without Inspection." Using a qualitative case study approach, semi-structured interviews were conducted with public accountants in Surabaya, Indonesia. The research reveals that QR codes serve as technological safeguards, enabling rapid verification of IAR authenticity and traceability. While the auditing community strongly supports this innovation, viewing it as a significant advancement in combating forgery, the study highlights that QR codes are not an absolute solution. Their effectiveness ultimately depends on individual practitioners' ethical conduct. The persistence of fraudulent activities despite technological advancements underscores the need for a multifaceted approach combining technological solutions with robust ethical training and professional development programs. The research concludes that QR code implementation must be complemented by ongoing efforts to strengthen the auditing profession's ethical foundation. It emphasizes the importance of continuous monitoring and enforcement by regulatory bodies to ensure compliance and maintain public trust in financial reporting. AI in Corporate Governance: Navigating Critical and Comfortable Aspects

Today Artificial Intelligence (AI) and related technologies have become a disruptive force in the market, impacting every aspect of a business. AI's roles in corporate governance (CG) practices are important; it, however, has to be seamlessly integrated for the desired outcomes. This research aims to assess the critical and comfortable aspects of AI for CG in organisations, specifically in the manufacturing sector. The research employed a qualitative strategy since the strategy aids in exploring a phenomenon comprehensively. In line with the qualitative strategy, semi-structured interviews with experts from the manufacturing industry were conducted as subject of this research. Thematic analysis was done on data using ten experts, ranging from China’s manufacturing industry. The findings reveal that AI is quite important for CG since it can improve all the parts of CG, focusing on risk management and decision-making. Interviews with experts emphasised that AI has facilitated rational decision-making and risk management in organisations. Yet the findings also showed that AI in CG was not quite without challenges, such as data quality, ethics and employee resistance. Nonetheless, appropriate mitigation strategies can be implemented, like robust data governance frameworks and training programs for employees that can make AI a critical aspect of CG and ensure that it is comfortably integrated into business operations. Overall, this research has significant managerial implications since it highlights the need for AI in CG by addressing the challenges faced with AI integration.

Support workers knowledge, skills and education relating to dementia - a national survey.

Dementia affects over 55 million people globally, projected to double by 2050. In the UK, non-registered staff, including healthcare assistants (HCAs) and clinical support workers, provide a significant portion of dementia care, yet receive limited training. This study explores the knowledge, training, and attitudes of support workers towards dementia. A cross-sectional web-based survey was conducted from February 1 to April 1, 2024, targeting support workers in England. The survey included demographic information, dementia knowledge (using the Dementia Knowledge Assessment Scale, DKAS), and attitudes (using the Dementia Attitudes Scale, DAS). Data were analysed using descriptive statistics, ANOVA, t-tests, and Pearson's correlation. One hundred and nine support workers responded, predominantly female (90%) and white British (76.4%), from various NHS settings and occupational groups. The majority (79.8%) had received dementia training, primarily from their organisations. Challenges included managing behavioural and psychological symptoms and communication difficulties. There was no significant correlation between years of experience and dementia knowledge (r = -0.019) or attitudes (r = -0.057). However, higher occupational grades were associated with greater dementia knowledge (p = <0.01). A moderate positive correlation was found between dementia knowledge and attitudes (r = 0.35, p = <0.01).Despite high levels of knowledge, support workers often feel inadequately prepared to provide optimal dementia care, indicating a need for more comprehensive training. Challenges in communication and managing symptoms highlight areas for improvement. The study suggests that better training can improve both knowledge and attitudes, enhancing care quality for people living with dementia. Support workers play a crucial role in dementia care but require more robust training programs to meet the growing demands. Enhanced training can improve their knowledge and attitudes, leading to better care outcomes for people with dementia.

EMPLOYEE DIGITAL ADAPTABILITY IN IMPROVING MARKETING CAPABILITIES

This research explores the impact of AI, Big Data Analytics, Omnichannel platforms, IoT, and integrated learning systems on marketing capabilities within the context of digital banking, with employee digital adaptability serving as a mediating factor. Conducted at a state-owned bank in North Sumatra, the study uses a mixed-method approach that integrates quantitative analysis of 75 marketing employees alongside qualitative interviews. The findings, derived from SEM-PLS analysis, indicate that all the technologies assessed significantly and positively affect marketing capabilities, both directly and indirectly via employee digital adaptability. AI and Big Data Analytics exert the strongest direct influence on marketing capabilities, whereas Omnichannel platforms have the greatest impact on employee adaptability. The research also confirms that employee digital adaptability partially mediates the relationship between each technology and marketing capabilities, with the IoT-marketing capabilities link showing the strongest mediation effect. These insights emphasize the dual role of digital technologies in enhancing marketing performance and underscore the essential role of employee adaptability in optimizing these benefits. The study advocates for a comprehensive approach to digital transformation in banking, focusing on strategic technology investments and robust digital training programs for employees.

Shaping tomorrow: how the STEP training course pioneered noninvasive brain stimulation training for psychiatry in France.

Over the past three decades, non-invasive brain stimulation (NIBS) techniques have gained worldwide attention and demonstrated therapeutic potential in various medical fields, particularly psychiatry. The emergence of these novel techniques has led to an increased need for robust training programs to provide practitioners, whether clinicians or scientists, with the necessary skills and knowledge. In response, a comprehensive training curriculum for NIBS in psychiatry has been developed in France. This curriculum was developed by a group of researchers and psychiatrists interested in the clinical application of NIBS in psychiatry, called STEP - Stimulation Transcranienne en Psychiatrie, under the auspices of the French Association of Biological Psychiatry. This perspective outlines the development and implementation of this course, tracing its inception, the evolution of the program, and the challenges encountered along the way. The position of the course in the national and international environment and its future prospects are also discussed. Through this perspective, we aim to summarize the collaborative efforts to promote NIBS teaching and research in French psychiatry.

A Study of Sustainable HR Practices in Banking Sector in Hyderabad City

The study explores the adoption and impact of sustainable Human Resource (HR) practices in the banking sector in Hyderabad City. With sustainability becoming increasingly important in corporate strategies, this research aims to assess how banks in Hyderabad are integrating sustainable HR practices into their operations. A sample of 20 banks was selected, and data was collected from 100 employees across various levels and departments. The study focuses on key aspects such as recruitment, training and development, employee well-being, environmental responsibility, and corporate social responsibility (CSR). The findings reveal that while many banks have initiated steps toward sustainable HR practices, there is significant variation in the depth and effectiveness of these practices across different institutions. Key challenges include a lack of comprehensive policies, limited employee engagement, and the need for more robust training programs. The study concludes that while the banking sector in Hyderabad is moving toward sustainability, there is a need for more consistent and integrated approaches to fully realize the benefits of sustainable HR practices. Recommendations include enhancing employee awareness, developing clear sustainability goals, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement in HR practices to support long-term sustainability in the banking sector.

Medical student perception of force application: An accuracy assessment and pilot training program.

It is unclear how accurately students can reproduce specific forces that are often required for physical examination maneuvers. This study aimed to determine the baseline accuracy of force application for preclinical medical students, evaluate the effectiveness of a quantitative visual feedback intervention, and investigate whether certain demographics influence accuracy. First- and second-year medical students were enrolled and demographic data were collected. Students blindly applied their estimation of 15 lbs (6.8 kg), 3 lbs (1.4 kg), 10 lbs (4.5 kg), 1.5 lbs (0.7 kg), and 6 lbs (2.7 kg) of force on a scale. Visual feedback training was then performed wherein students applied a series of additional forces unblinded five times, and then blindly administered the same five initial forces 12 minutes and one week later. Accuracy was compared at each time point and a regression analysis was evaluated for predictors of accuracy. Thirty-three students participated. The mean baseline accuracy was 38.3%, 41.1% immediately following intervention, and 35.6% one week later (P = 0.66). Accuracy was significantly higher at higher intended forces compared to lower forces (P < 0.05). The number of prior occupations was a positive independent predictor (P = 0.04), and the number of sports played was noted to be a negative predictor (P = 0.01), of baseline accuracy. Medical students' ability to accurately reproduce clinically relevant forces is poor. There is a clear need to implement a robust training program in medical education, and students may need multiple training sessions to refine this skill.

Retaining Talent in Digital, Technology and Innovation Department: Key Factors Influencing Retention at a GLC in Malaysia

Employee retention is crucial for organizational success, especially in dynamic fields like Digital, Technology, and Innovation. This correlational study investigated factors influencing employee retention within the DTI department of a Malaysian GLC, guided by Herzberg's Two-Factor Theory. The study examined the relationship between employee retention (dependent variable) and compensation &amp; benefits, work-life balance, career growth opportunities, and training &amp; development (independent variables). Data was collected from a diverse sample of DTI employees using a comprehensive survey and analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 29. The findings revealed no significant relationship between compensation &amp; benefits, work-life balance, or career growth opportunities and employee retention. However, a significant positive relationship was found between training &amp; development and employee retention. This study provides insights into the unique factors affecting retention in DTI departments and offers practical recommendations for creating a supportive work environment that enhances employee retention. Specifically, the study highlights the importance of robust training and development programs in fostering employee satisfaction, skills development, and ultimately, higher retention rates.

Purpose: The aim of the study was to analyze the effects of China's sports system reform on physical education and talent development in schools in China. Methodology: This study adopted a desk methodology. A desk study research design is commonly known as secondary data collection. This is basically collecting data from existing resources preferably because of its low cost advantage as compared to a field research. Our current study looked into already published studies and reports as the data was easily accessed through online journals and libraries. Findings: China's sports system reform has significantly impacted physical education and talent development in schools by promoting a more structured and competitive environment for young athletes. The reforms have shifted the focus from traditional physical education to a comprehensive system that emphasizes specialized training and early identification of talent. This has led to the establishment of partnerships between schools and sports institutions, enabling better resource allocation and training facilities. As a result, students are encouraged to participate in a wider variety of sports, enhancing their physical fitness and skills. Unique Contribution to Theory, Practice and Policy: Social learning theory, human capital theory &amp; ecological systems theory may be used to anchor future studies on the effects of China's sports system reform on physical education and talent development in schools in China. Based on findings from studies on curriculum integration, there is a clear need for robust teacher training programs. In Italy, procurement processes are more structured, with stringent regulations aimed at curbing corruption, yet challenges persist, particularly in the enforcement of these regulations. In contrast, Zimbabwe faces more profound issues with systemic corruption deeply embedded in its procurement practices, exacerbated by weaker institutional frameworks and lack of transparency. Unique Contribution to Theory, Practice and Policy: Principal-agent theory, institutional theory &amp; ethical decision-making theory may be used to anchor future studies on analyze the procurement ethics and corruption: an examination of Italy and Zimbabwe. Our current study looked into already published studies and reports as the data was easily accessed through online journals and libraries. Findings: Barriers to effective electronic records management (ERM) in East African public sector organizations include inadequate technology infrastructure, limited financial resources, staff training gaps, policy implementation challenges, resistance to change from paper-based systems, data security concerns, and insufficient organizational commitment. Addressing these barriers requires holistic strategies encompassing technological upgrades, enhanced financial support, robust training programs, streamlined policies, and fostering a culture supportive of ERM practices.
