The analysis of scientific data has increasingly shifted from oftentimes complex and time intensive manual evaluation to methods involving computational software. However, some of the software tools that have replaced manual analysis are nearly as difficult to learn due to a lack of user experience design during their creation. We present in this paper the development methodology used to create Photometry+, a differential photometry software tool designed with the end user in mind. By developing with periodic small user studies, stakeholder involvement, and iterative development, Photometry+ is able to obtain accurate results with low amounts of usability problems and low average learning time. These results are validated with additional user studies and astronomy analysis.
