Two pine species with ectomycorrhizae formed by Pisolithus tinctorius and Rhizopogon luteolus were tested. The two fungi were used to inoculate sets of aseptically germinated seedlings of Pinus oocarpa and Pinus caribaea using pure culture techniques. The pine species tested had better survival and growth with Pisolithus tinctorius through four growing seasons in all study locations. Pisolithus tinctorius significantly increased the rate of growth of Pinus spp. and their survival in Mokwa and Lafiagi after four years.
