Modeling and Simulation of Flow through The Construction of River Cover Embankment: Case Study of Sei Wampu Weir, Langkat Regency, Indonesia

Sei Wampu Weir construction project faced problems related to river cover embankment work, where the river cover embankment experiences scouring on the riverbed during flooding. The purpose of this study is to simulate flow model and determine the maximum flow speed, hence, the appropriate structure of cover concrete blocks can be determined. The analysis of water availability in this study used the F.J. Mock method by considering the watershed area, rainfall data, climatological data, evapotranspiration, and other supporting data to obtain 80% of the mainstay. Modeling and simulation of flow through river cover embankments was performed using the Hec-Ras 5.0.7 program with three scenarios. The determination of Locked Concrete Blocks as a handling solution refers to the Scientific Manuscript of Locked Concrete Blocks as Riverbed Control Buildings of the Water Resources Center in 2014. Results found the mainstay discharge analysis of 80% in year 2020, which was 139.10 m3/s. The model results in the first scenario (width of the river still open about 85 meters) obtained a flow speed of 2.04 m/s, the second scenario (width of the river still open about 30 meters) obtained a flow speed of 2.48 m/s, and the third scenario (width that was still open about 10 meters) obtained a flow speed of 4.34 m/s. The locked concrete blocks for the first scenario used the six-foot locked concrete block type, whereas the second and third scenarios used the eight-foot locked concrete block. Based on numerical modeling and analysis results of locked concrete blocks, the appropriate and efficient scenario for closing the river cover embankment in the sei wampu weir construction project is the second scenario.

Pole placement with minimum gain and sparse static feedback

The work addresses the issue of developing polar positioning algorithms for linear control systems with despotic thinning constraints on a static feedback matrix. The design of sparse-limiting feedback control systems is considered to be one of the more complex issues, but the issue of defining the sparse feedback matrix, which allows the selection of eigenvalues or, in other words, the placement of poles, has not been fully studied. Algorithms for determining the eigenvalues, i.e., solving the problem of pole placement and finding the optimal solution of the technological process control system are considered in the work. The results of numerical analysis confirmed the effectiveness of these algorithms, which allows them to be used in solving practical problems of synthesizing adaptive control systems for technological objects.

Numerical Analysis Study on the Influence of Shield Cutting Pile on the Settlement of Pile–Soil Composite Foundation

Based on the shield cutting pile–soil composite foundation project of Zhengzhou Metro Line 5, numerical analysis was employed to replicate the in situ experimental conditions on site. The study focused on investigating the impact of shield cutting piles on the settlement of pile–soil composite foundation and analyzing the sensitivity of shield construction parameters, face pressure (P), and grouting pressure (Q). Comparing the numerical analysis results of land surface subsidence with field in situ test monitoring results reveals a consistent pattern, validating the rationality of the numerical modeling method presented in this paper. The results demonstrate that the vertical displacement of the formation caused by shield cutting pile construction can be divided into settlement and uplift areas. The region with significant formation displacement settlement spans within 0.9D (5.4 m above the tunnel vault), whereas the area with pronounced formation displacement uplift ranges within 0.58D (3.5 m below the tunnel arch bottom). The influence of face pressure (P) on the bearing characteristics of the composite foundation primarily occurs during the prepile cutting stage, whereas the influence of grouting pressure (Q) on the bearing characteristics of the composite foundation mainly manifests after the shield tail separates from the residual pile of the composite foundation.

Modal Decomposition of Wake Flow Behind a Circular Cylinder

This study demonstrates the effectiveness of Proper Orthogonal Decomposition (POD) as a method for analyzing flow structures and as a data reduction tool for both numerical simulations and experimental techniques. The reduced data can be integrated to data driven inference of partial differential equations which can lead to reduced order modeling. By focusing on the flow around a cylinder, we show that POD efficiently identifies the most energetic modes, allowing for the flow's reconstruction with a limited dataset. Our findings indicate that the first 10 POD modes appear in pairs with similar spatial patterns, frequency spectra, and energy contributions. These modes encapsulate nearly 92% of the total energy, highlighting the method's precision in capturing essential dynamics. Specifically, modes 1 and 2 correspond to streamwise vortex shedding, while modes 3 and 4 relate to the lateral flow motion. The reconstructed flow, based on these dominant modes, closely matches numerical analysis results, validating POD's utility in developing reduced order models and enhancing our understanding of fluid-structure interactions.

Experimental Study and Numerical Analysis of Temperature Stress in Carbon Fiber-Heated Concrete Pavement

Carbon fiber heating technology has been widely used in pavement surfaces in practical engineering projects as an environmentally friendly, efficient, and safe ice melting technique. However, the current design of carbon fiber-heated pavement focuses primarily on the ice melting effect while neglecting the crucial mechanical performance evaluation. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the temperature and thermal strain distributions of concrete pavement through model tests and develop a corresponding three-dimensional numerical model to analyze the temperature stress field distribution of carbon fiber-heated pavement. The accuracy of the numerical model is verified by comparing the model test results with the numerical analysis results. The numerical model test results indicate that the maximum compressive stress near the carbon fiber wire is 4 MPa, while the maximum tensile stress between the two carbon fiber wires is 1 MPa. According to the design standard for highway cement concrete pavement, the temperature stress induced by temperature change is significantly lower than the design value of the material’s inherent strength. In addition, a linear relationship between the depth and temperature gradient affecting temperature stress is observed after establishing a correlation between the temperature gradient and temperature stress. The findings of this study can provide valuable insight into the design of carbon fiber-heated concrete pavements.

Molten resin flowing state identification, inner-mold thermal analysis, and final product quality determination in a complex thermal-regulated mold: Full-scale prototype establishment and validation

Complex system analysis is of great significance in the precision engineering of polymer processing. The compositions of thermal regulation units and multiple devices pose challenges for inner-mold analysis and increase investment in sensing technology in injection molding. This study proposes a mold–product thermally regulated integration (MPTI) methodology for the first time to establish a full-scale prototype and achieve accurate polymer flow, energy transfer, and product-forming state identification in injection molding. The numerical analysis results were compared with the experimental data and verified. The filling duration and pressure drop at the velocity/pressure switchover position were measured at injection velocities of 100–150 mm·s−1. The thermal effects of heat conduction at the inner surface of the mold and the viscous dissipation of the molten resin were experimentally validated by adjusting the hot-runner system and cooling unit. The accuracies of MPTI for the filling duration, pressure variation, and temperature detection were 7.7 %, 9.9 %, and 4.1 %, respectively. The final product deformations in MPTI were 7.8 % and 3.7 % smaller in the x and z directions, respectively. Our method merges polymer flow-state identification, energy transfer analysis, and product quality verification, with the potential for modeling complex thermal molds in manufacturing applications.

Investigation of annual thermal performance and techno-economical analyses of direct absorption solar collector by using nanofluids

In this study, the annual thermal performance and techno-economic analyses of a direct absorption solar collector (DASC) using nanofluids were investigated. According to the results of numerical analysis the difference between the specific heat gains was 126.5 W/m2, where difference for annual energy saving or enhancement for solar energy converting to useful was 224 kW/m2a. To sum up utilization of MWCNTs (0.05%) based nanofluids as heat transfer fluids in PTC supported the 13,5% of thermal efficiency in comparison of water. Furthermore, when nanofluids are used as a heat carrier in a solar collector, the cost of 1 kWh of thermal energy is 0.029 $/kWh, and when water is used, it is 0.034 $/kWh. The payback period of the initial investment amount of the nanofluid solar collector is 3.96 years, where the interest rate of the bank is calculated at 23%, and the payback period of the initial investment amount of the water solar collector is 3.99 years.

Investigation on Existing Tunnel Response to Piles Construction: A Numerical Study

Deep foundations are frequently built close to existing tunnels in the urban environment. Tunnels can only withstand very small movements. The construction of bored piles and/or the subsequent loading of the piles may result in unbearable movements or stresses that could result in cracking of the tunnel linings, which worries obstacles to the tunnel structure. This research presents an understanding of the interaction issue and investigates and evaluates various geometric factors that determine the effect of the construction of the pile on the existing tunnel. However, numerical modeling was established utilizing a modified Mohr-Coulomb constitutive model for the soil strata. Numerous factors have been examined, including different locations of the pile tip to the tunnel centerline as well as variable pile diameters and lengths. The numerical analysis results revealed that the bending moment decreases as the distance from the tunnel increases from 8 to 12 m and then remains constant, while the shear stress is not affected considerably. In addition, the shear stress and bending moment increase with pile diameter and length due to the increased confinement caused by the pile. The spacing has a considerable effect on the horizontal displacement with very little effect on the vertical displacement. Moreover, there is an increase in the shear force developed in the tunnel lining with pile diameter for different spacings between the tunnel and pile. This increase becomes smaller as the pile length increases. The Behaviour of Shallow-Buried Corrugated Steel Plate Bridge with RC Slab and EPS Geofoam Under Static Live Loads

The increasing use of buried corrugated steel plate (CSP) bridges and culverts in transportation infrastructure contributes to looking for the most optimal solutions regarding durability and cost. The paper presents a finite element analysis and experimental testing under static live loads of a shallow-buried CSP bridge with a span of 10.00 m and a height of 4.02 m. The depth of the soil cover (0.65 m) did not meet the minimum requirements in this respect. Therefore, a reinforced concrete (RC) relieving slab was placed above the shell crown. In the parametric analysis, it was decided to use various types of expanded polystyrene (EPS) geofoam as an alternative to RC slab. Undoubtedly, using EPS is cheaper and faster than using an RC slab. Nevertheless, it is essential whether it gives a similar (or better) effect as the RC slab. Five models of the bridge were used in the analysis, i.e. without RC slab (model I), with RC slab (model II) and with various types of EPS (models III–V). The numerical analysis results were compared with experimental tests for the buried bridge with the RC slab. The obtained results can help design buried CSP bridges and culverts with a small depth of soil cover.

Effects of Current Collector on Internal Visualization of Solid Oxide Cells

Introduction Visualization of spatial distribution in solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) operating under high temperature is difficult to use various measurement equipment and sensors due to their recommended operating temperature. Therefore, it is difficult to reveal the distributions of gas species and reactions in the cell, as well as the loading current, using only electrochemical measurement methods. Simulation technology can be used to visualize various distributions in the cell and predict cell performance. While many simulation studies have revealed various spatial distributions in the SOFCs such as current density, they have also indicated that it is essential to accurately reflect the cell shape and multiphysics to simulate the cell performance1, 2.In our previous study, simulation and experimental thermal imaging combined temperature visualization method was developed. It was suggested that the temperature distribution under actual operating conditions is affected by Joule heating due to loading current distribution depending on the current collector geometry. Therefore, in order to evaluate the influence of the collector shape on the spatial temperature distribution, the influences of Joule heating and the collector geometry on the temperature distribution are evaluated. Then, we also analyze the influence of the current collector on the SOFC performance and propose a current collection method suitable for visualizing the reaction in an SOFC. Simulation Method In this study, the calculation was performed using a three-dimensional model that simulates the actual cell geometry used in the experiments. The simulated 3-D model was based on an electrolyte-supported plate cell with Scandia-stabilized Zirconia (ScSZ, 5 cm × 5 cm in size) as the support, LSM ((La0.8Sr0.2)0.98MnO3) and LSM-ScSZ composite material for the air electrode, and Ni-ScSZ cermet for the fuel electrode, respectively. The electrode area was 4 cm × 4 cm (16 cm2), and a platinum mesh and wire were used as a current collector. A schematic diagram of one of these examples is shown in Fig. 1. COMSOL Multiphysics (Ver. 6.0) was used as the 3-D simulation software to calculate the I-V characteristics and cell temperature distribution.The cell operating conditions were set to 800 ℃ for the operating temperature, 100 ml min-1 of 3 % humidified hydrogen as the incoming fuel, and the air electrode side opened to the atmosphere. I-V characteristics and cell temperature distributions were calculated under current density loading conditions ranging from 0.01 A cm-2 to 0.15 A cm-2. Based on each result, the relationship between current density and cell temperature distribution was evaluated. Results and Discussion As a result of numerical analysis and experiments focusing on the effect of the current collector shape, it was confirmed that the influence of the current collector shape appeared significantly in the cell temperature distribution as shown in Fig. 2. In addition, it was found that the visualization of the spatial distribution may be difficult because the effect of the heat generated by the Pt wire used as the current collector appears in the results of the temperature distribution on the surface. Based on these findings, we improved the current collector shape. Although the effect of the improvement on the Joule heating at Pt wire appeared in the temperature distribution result, the temperature distribution change was confirmed due to the loading current flow pattern, which depends on the shape of the current collector. The simulation results of the further improved collector shape showed that the temperature distribution change depending on the collector shape became smaller, suggesting that this collector shape is promising as a current collecting method suitable for visualizing the cell inside. In this presentation, we report the simulation results and discussion on the changes in current density distribution, gas distribution, and I-V characteristics, in addition to the changes in temperature distribution. Fuzzy Logic, Neural Network, and Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System in Delegation of Standard Concrete Beam Calculations

Machine learning (ML) has been proven effective in various scientific and industrial domains. Nevertheless, its practical application in the construction industry requires further investigation. Leveraging ML capabilities conserves human resources, reduces errors, and speeds up computation and interpretation tasks. The efficacy of ML algorithms depends on factors like ability, result accuracy, analysis cost, and sensitivity to parameter count and available data volume. This study explores the potential of using ML to delegate structural calculation processes, which is an aspect with limited attention. Concrete beam section calculations based on the American Concrete Institute (ACI) standards were chosen as a case study to assess ML’s capacity to emulate a structural designer’s role. Initially, manual design steps and standard considerations for a concrete beam section were parametrically coded in MATLAB. Validation against structural design references ensured code accuracy in calculating shear and bending capacities. The parametric results served as initial data (lookup table) for training ML operators. Various ML techniques, including fuzzy logic (FL), neural network (NN), and adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS), were coded in MATLAB. A comparative analysis of the three ML operators assessed their performance in replacing standard calculations. Parametric examples illustrated each operator’s precision in delegation compared to direct calculations. The study also explored the impact of the number of parameters and lookup table size on the accuracy of each ML operator. The findings revealed that while all three operators could delegate standard calculations, their precision varied. Notably, when the lookup table was optimal, ANFIS operators demonstrated the ability to represent standard calculations with varying parameter counts and high precision. Focused on beam calculations, this study provides insights into ML operator performance. The outcomes, including selecting the most capable operator and their sensitivity to parameters and lookup table size, offer valuable guidance for researchers interpreting experimental and numerical analysis results.

Performance analysis of novel double web V-bending angle-steel connections against progressive collapse

This study introduces a double web V-bending angle-steel connection (DWVAC) as a novel solution to overcome the ductility limitations of traditional double web angle-steel connections, specifically catering to the requirements of the tying force strategy. The DWVAC's anti-progressive collapse performance is analyzed using validated numerical models, and its working mechanism during progressive collapse conditions is revealed through theoretical analysis. The design process for the DWVAC is also presented, providing a comprehensive understanding of its structural performance. The study reveals that the DWVAC operates in two stages: the micro-bending stage and the catenary stage. During the micro-bending stage, the DWVAC exhibits minimal load-bearing capacity, relying primarily on axial forces in the subsequent catenary stage. Ultimately, the DWVAC fails due to rupture of web V-bending angle-steels. By understanding the DWVAC mechanism, the geometrical parameters of the V-bending angle-steel can be customized to achieve the recommended 0.20 rad ultimate rotation while satisfying various deformation requirements within a 0.30 rad ultimate rotation. The study further investigates six key parameters of the V-bending angle-steel, providing a calculation formula for its ultimate deformation based on multiple nonlinear fitting of numerical simulation analysis results. Notably, the numerical simulation analysis recommends that parameter g should not exceed 3.5 times the bolt hole diameter, and the recommended range for beam length is between 8 and 20 times the beam depth. The theoretical design process for the DWVAC is proposed, and numerical examples considering different beam and column sections are analyzed to demonstrate the rationality of the DWVAC's design process.

Behavior of Confined Self-Compacting Concrete under Compression at Elevated Temperatures

The performance of self-compacting concrete (SCC) is gaining popularity in construction due to its exceptional strength and durability. However, the properties of combined steel and concrete at elevated temperatures lack experimental data from previous research. This study aimed to investigate the behavior of the SCC core with a steel tube at ambient and elevated temperatures varying from 100 °C to 800 °C with 100 °C intervals for each test specimen. Tests were conducted on circular steel tubes filled with SCC for different grades (M25, M30, and M40) under compression at elevated temperatures. Experimental observations revealed that the stress–strain curve increased with increasing the cross-sectional area and grade of concrete. However, increasing the temperature and length-to-diameter ratio reduced the stress–strain curve. At elevated temperatures, confined SCC experienced a smaller decrease in the overall modulus of elasticity when compared to unconfined concrete. Within the compressive elastic region (from 30 °C to 400 °C), there was a significant relationship between lateral strain and longitudinal strain, which was followed by a sudden increase beyond 400 °C. Equations for various design parameters were proposed based on the peak load and confinement factor of confined SCC-filled steel tubes (SCCFSTs) via multiple regression. Moreover, this study developed load–axial shortening curves, identifying significant properties such as the yield strength of confined SCCFSTs, including the load-carrying capacity. The predicted numerical analysis results were well aligned with the experimental results, and the findings contributed valuable insights for designing resilient and durable combined SCC and steel tube infrastructures.

Gas explosion impact behavior and disaster analysis based on structural failure: Numerical modeling

For gas leakage explosion accidents that occur in high blockage environments, the failure of building structures often leads to the evolution of explosion waves becoming unpredictable, resulting in the amplification of accident consequences. In this paper, a severe gas leakage and explosion accident in Beijing is analyzed using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) method, and the disasters of the accident are evaluated based on the evolution of physical quantities. The laws of propagation and impact damage of explosion waves based on structural failure are also summarized. Based on the numerical analysis results, the explosion of 4.0–4.1 m3 combustible gas is sufficient to destroy a large number of walls with a maximum indoor overpressure of 1.130 bar and create a high-pressure injury area of 10 m and a high-temperature injury area of 14 m outdoors. The impact behaviours of explosion waves are closely related to the building structures and obstacle characteristics. Structures whose spatial direction is the same as the propagation direction of the initial wave suffer less damage, and similar obstacle characteristics on both sides of structures reduce damage. The disorder of gas explosion intensity leads to the unpredictable failure direction and process of building structures, and the collapse direction of component may be opposite to the path of initial explosion wave; Outdoors, the gas flow rate of several hundred meters and the peak dynamic pressure of 0.5 bar caused all the glass of two buildings to break. Therefore, a reasonable pressure relief area and sufficient safety distance become the key measures to prevent and mitigate the disaster of civil explosion accidents. The research results can provide scientific basis for the investigation and loss prevention of explosion accidents, as well as safety assessments in the process industries.

Evaluating Earthquake Stability of Solar Module Soundproofing Structure by 3D Numerical Analysis

In this study, dynamic numerical analysis was conducted on the existing sound barrier wall structure and the recently developed double-sided solar-module-integrated sound barrier wall structure using the finite-difference method for numerical modeling. A seismic safety evaluation was performed based on a series of numerical analysis results. Both structures were modeled using a 3D modeling technique with FLAC 3D to account for differences in lateral stiffness. For seismic considerations, the Pohang seismic wave was selected to represent short-period earthquakes in line with Korea’s seismic characteristics. Additionally, the Hachinohe seismic wave was chosen to simulate long-period earthquakes and consider the effects of the seismic period. To calculate the input seismic waves based on the ground response, a site response analysis was conducted for a site designated for demonstrating a double-sided solar module-integrated sound barrier wall structure in Korea. The analysis reveals that the existing structure maintains overall structural integrity and ensures the safety of solar modules even in an earthquake with a return period of 2400 years. However, for a solar module-integrated sound barrier wall structure, stresses exceeding the compressive strength of the solar module occur in earthquakes with a return period exceeding 1000 years, necessitating additional design and reinforcement for preparation.

The influences of vertical load on lateral dynamic responses of end-bearing friction pile

This paper revisits the influences of vertical load on the lateral dynamic responses of a single pile with rigorous analytical methods. The vertical load of pile is supported by the combination of end-bearing and side friction that develops along the pile length. The equilibrium equations of surrounding soil are analyzed by making use of the continuum-based solution, whereas the pile is modeled by the conventional Euler-Bernoulli beam theory. According to the assumption of perfect contact between the pile and the soil, the axial force function is deduced, which yields the analytical forms of vertical load and mechanical parameters of the pile-soil system. Using the formulation of lateral soil resistance and taking into account the influences of vertical load, the dynamic responses along the end-bearing friction pile are subsequently achieved via the Adomian decomposition method. The results obtained in this scheme were compared with analytical techniques available in the previous literature, which are applicable to the dynamic responses in the absence of vertical load. The results of numerical analysis indicate that the influences of vertical load on both the lateral displacement and the bending moment of the pile could be significant and, in general, enable them to undergo remarkable redistribution.

Optimization of Communication Base Station Battery Configuration Considering Demand Transfer and Sleep Mechanism under Uncertain Interruption Duration

In the communication power supply field, base station interruptions may occur due to sudden natural disasters or unstable power supplies. This work studies the optimization of battery resource configurations to cope with the duration uncertainty of base station interruption. We mainly consider the demand transfer and sleep mechanism of the base station and establish a two-stage stochastic programming model to minimize battery configuration costs and operational costs. To transform the uncertainty expression in the first stage into a deterministic model, we design the K-Means-SAA algorithm to accelerate problem-solving and to compare it with the SAA algorithm. The case study results indicate that the proposed two-stage stochastic programming model can save 17.02% of the total cost compared to the expected value model. The proposed demand transfer and sleep mechanism can reduce the total cost by 41.92% compared to no mechanism. The results of numerical experiments and sensitivity analysis also verify the superiority of the designed algorithm in terms of running efficiency and solving time. Therefore, the model and algorithm proposed in this work provide valuable application guidance for large-scale base station configuration optimization of battery resources to cope with interruptions in practical scenarios.

A novel time-frequency analysis method for fault diagnosis based on generalized S-transform and synchroextracting transform

Rotating machinery usually operates under variable-speed conditions, and how to effectively handle nonstationary signal in fault diagnosis is a critical task. The time-frequency analysis (TFA) method is widely used in the processing of nonstationary signal. To improve the time-frequency resolution and clearly identify instantaneous frequency (IF) characteristics, the adaptive generalized S-synchroextracting transform (AGSSET), which is a novel TFA method proposed in this paper. Firstly, a new transform named adaptive generalized S-transform (AGST) is put forward by optimizing the window function of generalized S transform. In this paper, an adaptive window function optimization method based on the frequency spectrum of the vibration signal is introduced, and the energy concentration measure is used to determine the window function’s parameters in AGST. Simultaneously, the synchrony extraction idea is incorporated into the AGST, then the AGSSET is derived. To address more complex IF characteristics, the synchronous extraction operator (SEO) is reconstructed. In the simulation experiment, the GMLC signal model is selected to represent nonstationary signal and to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. In addition, bearing fault data is also used for fault diagnosis experiments. The results of both numerical simulation and experimental analysis indicate that AGSSET performs well in identifying the time-varying IF characteristic in nonstationary signals. It can also efficiently detect faults with high accuracy and strong stability.

Numerical analysis of dynamic compressive properties of basalt fiber engineered cementitious composites after elevated temperature

The basalt fiber engineered cementitious composites (BF-ECC) was a superior cementitous material when used for tension loading. And it can prevent the development of wide cracks. In this paper, the dynamic compressive mechanics of BF-ECC after elevated temperature exposure(100 °C, 200 °C, 400 °C and 600 °C) is investigated. Parameter analyses are conducted to investigate the effect of the temperature and strain rate. In addition, a dynamic constitutive model including the damage factor function and the temperature effect function is constructed. It is extended and applied to the rate-type constitutive relation of BF-ECC materials after elevated temperature, and the numerical analysis results are compared with the experimental results to verify the applicability of the model.

Binocular Localization Using Resonant Beam

Locating mobile devices precisely in indoor scenarios is a challenging task because of the signal diffraction and reflection in complicated environments. One vital cause deteriorating the localization performance is the inevitable power dissipation along the propagation path of localization signals. In this paper, we propose a high-accuracy localization scheme based on the resonant beam system (RBS) and the binocular vision, i.e., binocular based resonant beam localization (BRBL). The BRBL system utilizes the energy-concentrated and self-aligned transmission of RBS to realize high-efficiency signal propagation and self-positioning for the mobile target (MT). The binocular method is combined with RBS to obtain the three-dimensional (3-D) coordinates of the MT for the first time. To exhibit the localization mechanism, we first elaborate on the binocular localization model, including the resonant beam transmission analysis and the geometric derivation of the binocular method with RBS. Then, we establish the power model of RBS, and the signal and noise models of beam spot imaging, respectively, to analyse the performance of the BRBL system. Finally, the results of numerical analysis and comparison show that BRBL balances system complexity and localization precision effectively, i.e., providing cm-level localization accuracy with its simplicity and ease of implementation.
