Background: The era is getting more advanced by following the development of the world globally, likewise the development of drugs is getting more intense, so to save the future of the nation, teenagers, especially high school students, really need to increase their knowledge about the dangers of drug abuse. The influence of changing times from year to year always affects life for everyone, especially the negative influence on adolescents, because adolescents do not yet have stable independence. Based on current observations, many high school children smoke both at school and outside of school, considering that smoking together with peers is one way to use In this era, drug sellers have entered villages looking for target buyers from both the community and school children since elementary school, junior high school and high school, because the seller is good at selling by mixing it with food, premen or what is still used. pure then for the teacher or or Parents must be observant in supervising children in social and change. Objective: To find out the effect of giving drug material on increasing the knowledge of high school students about drugs and their prevention. Method: the method used in this research is descriptive analytic with the approach used is cross sectional. Sampling used with total sampling and test analysis using Chi Square tes. Results: Based on the characteristics, it was found that the age of the respondents was between 15-20 years old with the most results being 16 at 50.6% and 17 years, namely 40.6%, for parent education the majority of basic education was 66.2%, Respondents' parents were traders and entrepreneurs of 40.26%. For the level of knowledge, the majority of the good categories were 73.4%. so that there is an increase in the level of knowledge about drugs. Conclusion: There is an effect of giving drug material to increase respondent's knowledge

STRATEGI PENINGKATAN ASI EKSLUSIF DENGAN MEDIA BUKU SAKU DI PUSKESMAS BALOWERTI KEDIRI

Based on data at the Balowerti Public Health Center, the achievement of exclusive breastfeeding is still low, namely 27.6%, the real achievement of the 2021 target is 50%. Problem identification using fishbone analysis. Then from the fishbone analysis, alternative solutions to the existing problems were sought with USG analysis. Next, problem solving analysis is carried out based on SWOT analysis. One of the factors that causes exclusive breastfeeding for breastfeeding mothers is not optimal, namely the lack of understanding of mothers, families, and communities. In research activities at the Balowerti Public Health Center, pocket book were used as a medium of counseling. After the middle intervention (counseling with pocket book media) was carried out, the respondent's knowledge was measured again using a questionnaire (post-test). After the results of the pre-test and post-test were obtained, a paired T-test was performed. The significance value (2-tailed) in this case was 0.000 (p < 0.05). So the results of the pre-test and post-test scores experienced a significant (meaningful) change. It can be concluded that the post-test scores have increased from the previous pre-test scores. There was an increase in knowledge about exclusive breastfeeding after education using pocket book media.

HUBUNGAN PENGETAHUAN TENTANG ULKUS DIABETIKUM DENGAN TINDAKAN PENCEGAHAN PADA PENDERITA DIABETES MELITUS

Diabetes Mellitus is a long-term disease characterized by abnormal blood glucose levels. DM can cause several complications, one of which is Diabetic neuropathy which contributes to the occurrence of wounds, causing dry skin, anhidrosis; which makes it easier for the skin to become damaged and wounds that are difficult to heal and can cause infections that contribute to gangrene. To overcome this problem, people with diabetes mellitus must have knowledge about diabetic wounds which include early detection and prevention of diabetic foot wounds. This type of research is analytic with a cross sectional study design with the aim of knowing the relationship between knowledge about diabetic wounds and wound prevention measures in patients with diabetes mellitus at Puskesmas Kenangan. The population in this study were all DM patients who were treated at the Puskesmas Kenangan who had not experienced gangrene complications as many as 25 people with a sample of 25 people, the sample was taken by total sampling. The results of the study. Knowledge of the majority of diabetic wounds was less as many as 15 people (60%) and the majority of wound prevention measures were bad as many as 19 people (76%). The conclusion is that there is a relationship between the knowledge of people with diabetes mellitus about diabetic wounds and wound prevention measures, indicated by the P value = 0.000 (p <0.05), meaning that there is a relationship between the respondent's knowledge and wound prevention measures. To add insight and knowledge about diabetic wounds and how to prevent injuries, it is recommended for DM patients to take part in counseling about diabetic wounds held both at the puskesmas and other health facilities. It is recommended for nurses to provide health education to DM patients in order to increase knowledge about diabetic wounds by attaching posters of wound prevention measures.

Breast cancer knowledge and screening practices among female nurses in a tertiary hospital in North Central, Nigeria

Background: Breast cancer is a global burden and has become a major public health concern. Early diagnosis through screening is the best way to achieve cure, reduce morbidity and mortality from breast cancer. Many of the women in this environment have little or no knowledge about breast cancer and the attitude and orientation of health-care professional are important determinants of the use of breast screening program. Aim: The aim of the study was to evaluate the knowledge and practice of breast cancer screening among female nurses in the Bida, Niger state. Materials and Methods: This study was a cross-sectional conducted among female nurses in Federal Medical Centre, Bida, between May and August 2021. The questionnaire contained 20 questions on the knowledge of breast cancer. Each correct answer had a score of 1 and 0 for an incorrect answer or “don't know.” The overall score was calculated for each respondent by summing up the symptom and risk score. It was graded as 0–9 = Poor and 10–20 = Good. Data collected were analyzed by computer analysis using the SPSS version 25. Results: A total of 150 female nurses participated in the study with mean age of 41.7 ± 8.1 years. Overall assessment of the respondent's knowledge of breast cancer revealed that 112 (74.7%) of them had good knowledge and 38 (25.3%) had poor knowledge. Only 59 (38.3%) practice breast self-examination monthly. Concerning clinical breast examination, 22 (14.7%) of them have had their breast examined before by a health professional while 12 (8%) of the participants had done mammography before. Conclusion: Our findings highlight that the knowledge of breast cancer among female nurses was good but it has not really translated into practices of the preventive measures for early detection of breast cancer.

The Relationship of Parenting Patterns with Events Early Marriage in Kepahiang District

Early marriage is when children or teenagers are not, yet adults or teenagers aged 10–19 years old when they get married. Parents' critical role as the smallest and most immediate part of their teenagers' environment is expected to shape their character and personality to avoid early marriage decisions. According to survey data from the Kepahiang Regency's Ministry of Religion, there were 127 cases of marriages between people aged 19 and September 2021. This number increased compared to the 111 cases of early marriage reported in 2020, a 6.7 percent increase. The purpose of this study is to examine the factors that contribute to early marriage among pregnant women in Kepahiang Regency in 2021. and parenting styles. The study employed a cross-sectional design. This study surveyed pregnant women in Kepahiang Regency, with a sample size of 66 respondents. The analysis revealed no statistical significance between the respondents' education (p-value = 0.961). In addition, there was statistical significance for the father's education (p-value = 0.012). Furthermore, there was a statistical significance between the mother's education (p-value = 0.009). In addition, there was a statistical significance between income (p-value = 0.016). There is a statistical significance between parenting styles (p-value = 0.026). In addition, there is a statistical significance between respondents' knowledge (p-value = 0.030). Finally, the most dominant factor related to early marriage is the respondent's knowledge, with PR = 7,532 (95% CI; 1. 858-30,543), which means that respondents with more minor and moderate knowledge could marry early 7,532 times compared to respondents who have good knowledge. The importance of providing adolescents with information and health education about early marriage, in which parents also play a critical role in parenting patterns, including preventing the possibility of early marriage.

PENGETAHUAN IBU TENTANG STUNTING PADA BALITA DI DESA LUBUK BILANG KECAMATAN RAMBAH SAMO KABUPATEN ROKAN HULU

Stunting can be defined as a condition where a person's height does not match the age that has beendetermined by calculating the Z-Index score for Height by Age (TB/U). A person is said to be stunted ifthe Z-index TB/U score is below -2 SD (standard deviation) (Sutarto, Mayasari, & Indriyani, 2018). Thepurpose of this study was to determine the description of maternal knowledge about stunting in toddlersin Lubuk Bilang village. Rambah Samo sub-district, Rokan Hulu district. This research method usesdescriptive with cross sectional design. The sampling technique was carried out using total sampling,that is, all the population was sampled. In this study, the number of samples was 35 mothers who hadstunting toddlers. The analysis of this study used Univariate analysis. The results of this study showedthat the respondent's knowledge about stunting was categorized as less, the age with less knowledge,namely the age of 20-35 years, amounted to 27 people (77%), those with less knowledge based on theireducation were 14 elementary school students (40%), and the knowledgeable less based on occupationare housewives (IRT) totaling 20 people (57%). The conclusion of this study was that the mother'sknowledge about stunting in children under five in Lubuk Bilang village was said to be lacking, based onage, education and occupation.Keywords: Knowledge, Stunting, Lubuk Bilang Village

Hubungan Pengetahuan Dan Sikap Dengan Status Bebas Buang Air Besar Sembarangan Di Desa Ambengan, Kecamatan Sukasada, Kabupaten Buleleng Tahun 2021

ODF (Open Defecation Free) or Free Defecation is a village/kelurahan where 100% of the people have defecated in healthy latrines. Ambengan Village is one of the villages that has not been ODF in Buleleng Regency. There are 89.6% who are ODF and 10.4% are not ODF from 1,278 households in Ambengan village. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between knowledge and attitudes with the Free Status of Open Defecation. This study uses a cross-sectional design with a sample of 93 respondents and data analysis using the Chi-Square statistical test. Respondents with good knowledge (45.2%), moderate (36.6%) and less (18.3%). Respondents with good attitude (43%), moderate (37.6%) and less (19.4%). The results of the Chi Square test showed that there was a relationship between the respondent's knowledge (p = 0.000) and the respondent's attitude (p = 0.000) with the status of free defecation. It can be concluded that there is a relationship between knowledge and attitude with open defecation free status in Ambengan village. Public health center to carry out counseling about ODF (Open Defecation Free) to the community and villages can make rules regarding the prohibition of open defecation.

PROVISION OF VITAMIN C AND VITAMIN D FOOD INGREDIENTS AGAINST THE REDUCTION OF BLOOD GLUCOSE LEVELS IN DIABETES MELLITUS TYPE II INDICATED RESPONDENTS

This community service was carried out to improve the knowledge of Kutisari residents who identified had diabetes mellitus. The preliminary study was conducted regarding residents who identified with diabetes mellitus with deficiency of vitamin C and vitamin D intake. This community service program lasts for one year. The activity in this community service was collecting the data of respondents with diabetes mellitus, gave nutrition counselling, and directly provided food sources of vitamin C and vitamin D. Besides provided leaflets of vitamin C and vitamin D food sources, the nutrition counselling also measured the respondent’s blood sugar levels. Checking blood glucose levels was carried out to determine the glucose levels of residents who were identified as having diabetes mellitus. Intake of food sources of vitamin C and vitamin D was expected to lower blood glucose levels. The respondent received guava and chicken eggs as the food source of vitamin C and vitamin D. The purpose of this community service is to improve the respondent's knowledge about the food sources of vitamin C and vitamin D. Those foods will reduce the high blood glucose levels close to the normal values. The output of this community service activity is an online-published report.

Ethnobotanical knowledge and use-value of Harpagophytum (Devil's claw) in Matabeleland, Zimbabwe

Quantitative ethnobotanical knowledge is important in guiding sustainable resource use, yet for many medicinal plants such as Harpagophytum (Devil's claw), this information is scanty. Thus, we documented the ethnobotanical knowledge of Devil's claw in Hwange, Gwanda, Matobo, and Tsholotsho, western Zimbabwe, in relation to a person's age, gender, level of education, and locality. Using a semi-structured questionnaire, we interviewed 205 respondents on their knowledge of the physical features, distribution, uses and use-values, part used, and the method of preparation of Devil's claw. Physical identification was assessed based on the frequency of knowledge of plant parts. Binomial General Linear Models were used to test the effect of age, education, gender, and locality on the respondent's knowledge. Relationships of age, gender, level of education, and locality to ethnoecological perceptions were assessed using Pearson's Chi-square test. Use values were assessed based on Plant Part Value (PPV), Use Value category (UVk), and Overall Use Value (OUV). Ethnobotanical knowledge varied with locality and age, with better physical description in most adults and senior respondents in Hwange and Tsholotsho. Respondent's perceptions showed that Devil's claw was more abundant in Hwange and Tsholotsho relative to Matobo and Gwanda. Tubers (53%) were most valued in all localities followed by leaves (29%), and fruits (18%). Of the five identified categories of use, medicinal (UVk of 0.38) was the most important while ethnoveterinary, rituals, personal care, and food were least important (all UVks ≤0.02). OUVs were dependent on locality, significantly higher in Hwange and Tsholotsho (0.64 and 0.58, respectively) as compared to Gwanda (0.1) and Matobo (0.28). This study provides a wealth of knowledge that contributes to the preservation of indigenous knowledge of Devil's claw, sustainable management of the plant as well as further contribute to pharmacological interventions.

Perceptions of Adolescents Regarding Breast Cancer.

Breast cancer in women is a major health burden. In Nepal, most common cancer in female is breast cancer. Knowledge plays an important role in improvement of health seeking behavior. Knowledge may positively affect attitude and practice. So, this study aims to assess the knowledge and attitude regarding breast cancer among the adolescents. A cross-sectional study was done among students of 23 randomly selected highher secondary schools of Bhaktapur district. Total 990 participant were assessed with questionnaire regarding knowledge and attitude towards breast cancer. Out of total 400 participants, 89.6% of male and 88.5% of female respondents had poor knowledge regarding breast cancer. 63.2% of the female and 50.9% of the male respondents had good attitude towards breast cancer. Religion, education of parents and ethnicity of respondents showed positive association with respondent's knowledge of breast cancer. Gender, education and ethnicity of respondents showed positive association with respondent's attitude of breast cancer. Majority of the respondents had poor knowledge and half of respondents had good attitude towards breast cancer. Therefore, educational programs and awareness campaigns that target adolescents to improve their knowledge and attitude regarding breast cancer must be encouraged.

Praktek Transaksi Pada Koperasi Karyawan Daerah Kota Surakarta Dalam Tinjauan Hukum Islam dan Tingkat Pemahaman Anggotanya Dalam Hal Riba

This study aims to determine what transaction practices are carried out by the Surakarta City Employee Cooperative (Kokarda) and how these practices are in the view of Islamic law. In addition, this study aims to reveal how far the members of the cooperative, who are mostly Muslims, understand about usury. The technique of collecting data from literature books or data published by the Regional Employee Cooperative (Kokarda) in Surakarta is used to obtain data in literature. To support the research, data collection using a questionnaire, then analyzed quantitatively and descriptively. The questionnaire consists of questions about the respondent's knowledge of the application of the interest system, the purpose of saving or saving money and the respondents' interest in borrowing in the cooperative. Researchers also developed in the form of random interviews with some respondents. The results showed that the Surakarta Regional Employee Cooperative (Kokarda) implemented savings and loan transactions. Saving money in the cooperative earns interest on deposits. Borrowers of money are required to pay interest on the loan. The members, who are mostly Muslims, have a high enough interest in saving and borrowing money from the cooperative.

We may not know much about the deep sea, but do we care about mining it?

Abstract The way we value the environment affects how we treat it. While public awareness of human impacts on the ocean is increasing, industrial activities in the deep sea are accelerating rapidly and out of sight. The underlying values we hold for the environment were increasingly recognised as an important factor in environmental decision‐making, and it was thus important to evaluate public values towards deep‐sea environments. Here, we explored people's care for the deep sea and related this to the perceived risks of seafloor mining by comparing the deep sea to three other remote environments: Antarctica, remote terrestrial environments and the Moon. We conducted an online survey to investigate symbolic values, which we define as the emotions, moods and meanings an environment evokes, as an element affecting people's care for the environment. In addition, we investigated the respondent's knowledge, worldviews and the perceived environmental and societal risk of mining in these four environments. We found that symbolic values shape people's environmental care and that the overall symbolic value attributed to each of the environments differs. People perceived it likely that mining will take place in the deep sea, and the majority of respondents (81%) stated to care a lot or very much about human activities harming the deep sea. In comparison to the other remote environments, in a general sense people cared less about the deep sea, and their self‐assessed knowledge of the deep sea was lower. These results suggest that it was fundamental to account for the underlying values and emotions towards the environment when evaluating the risks of human activities in remote settings. Our results further highlighted the need to improve public understanding and connection with the deep sea and its role within wider society to engender deep‐sea stewardship. Knowledge and Practice of Health Care Providers Towards Proper Face Mask Utilization to Minimize the Extent of COVID-19 Infection in Amhara Region Referral Hospitals, Ethiopia.

IntroductionThe novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic began in early 2020, causing tens of thousands of deaths, over a million cases, and widespread socioeconomic disruption.ObjectiveThe aim of the study was to assess health care workers’ knowledge and practice of proper face mask utilization to prevent the spread of COVID-19 infection in Amhara region referral hospitals, Ethiopia.MethodsA cross-sectional institutional-based quantitative study design was conducted from May 15 to 30/2020 using pre-tested self-administrated questionnaire and analyzed by using SPSS version 20.0. The study included 422 health care providers, and the sample size was determined using a single population proportion formula with the assumption of a p value of 0.05. Data were collected using a consecutive sampling technique from all referral hospitals and were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Finally, the outcome was presented in the form of a text and a table.ResultsThe overall knowledge and practice of health care providers regarding proper face mask utilization were 278 (65.8%) and 252 (59.5%), respectively. Of them, 284 (67.3%) knew that face masks were worn with the white side facing in, 264 (62.6%) knew that face masks had three layers, and 331 (78.4%) knew that surgical face masks were worn for up to 8 hours.Conclusion and RecommendationThe respondent’s knowledge of proper face mask usage was high, in comparison with another studies but the proper utilization of face mask was relatively low. Ethiopian ministry of health in collaboration with Amhara region, zonal and woreda health institution works together to increase utilization of face mask and to alleviate scarcity of resource and provide training to the health care providers about the proper utilization of face mask to tackle COVID-19.

Hubungan Tingkat Pengetahuan dengan Perilaku Pencegahan COVID-19 di Desa Lebak Peniangan Lampung

Relationship COVID-19 knowledge level with COVID-19 prevention behavior in Lebak Peniangan Village, Rebang Tangkas Way Kanan District, Lampung, 2021. Corona Virus (CoV) is an ongoing global talk of all circles in the world from December 2019 to April 2021, which is still a problematic topic. The novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) is a new type of coronavirus that has never been previously identified in humans. It can cause illnesses ranging from the common cold to serious illnesses such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). COVID-19 can spread from person to person especially when an infected person is in close contact with another person. The knowledge gained can encourage people to take actions such as complying with health protocols recommended by the government and taking basic protection, namely implementing 3M and 3T during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between COVID-19 knowledge level and COVID-19 prevention behavior in Lebak Peniangan Village, Rebang Tangkas Way Kanan District, Lampung. This research was a quantitative study with a crosssectional design. The population was determined based on family cards of 1500 households. The sample was obtained using a random sampling technique of 306 respondents. The researcher collected knowledge and behavior data using a questionnaire and analyzed using the Chi Square test. The result of Chi Square test on the respondent's knowledge and behavior showed p value = 0.000 (p<0.05) which means that there is a significant relationship between the level of knowledge and COVID-19 prevention behavior in Lebak Peniangan Village, Rebang Tangkas Way Kanan District, Lampung, 2021.The results showed that most of the respondents' knowledge about COVID-19 was in a good category with 258 respondents (84.3%). The behavior of respondents in efforts to prevent COVID-19 was mostly in the moderate category with 218 respondents (71.2%). From the research results, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between respondents' COVID-19 knowledge and COVID-19 prevention behavior in the community. The public needs to know more about COVID-19 to improve prevention behavior.

Effect of Health Education Video on Knowledge about among Women in Childbearing Age

Background: Toddlers aged 24-59 months are experiencing a very rapid growth process; however, they are also prone to have nutritional problems, including stunting. Stunting occurs mainly within the first 2 to 5 years of life. The main cause is a lack of knowledge on toddler’s nutritional intake among women of childbearing age. This study aimed to explore the effect of health education using video media on the knowledge about stunting among women of childbearing age.Methods: This was a quantitative, experimental study with one group pretest-posttest design conducted in July-November 2019 on women of childbearing age in the working area of Public Health Center (Pusat Kesehatan Masyarakat, Puskesmas) Jatinangor, West Java, Indonesia. Respondents were recruited using the Multistage Random Sampling according to the inclusion criteria. A pre-test was administered before the health education session on stunting and a post-test was administered afterwards. Data collected were then analyzed using the Wilcoxon Test.Results: In total, 211 women were included. Education video on stunting was proved to significantly increase the respondent's knowledge on stunting (p=0.000, r value=0.690).Conclusion: Health education video clearly increases knowledge on stunting among women of childbearing age. Thus, video medium can be used as a preferred method for disseminating knowledge on various health topics.

Assessment of farmers' knowledge and perceptions towards farmland birds show the need of conservation interventions

Farmland birds are facing a gradual decline in their population globally due to various anthropogenic threats. Understanding farmers' knowledge, attitudes, and perception towards the conservation of farmland birds is crucial to understand distribution and threats, as farmers often come across the birds year-round. We interviewed 743 farmers in four districts (Kapilvastu, Chitwan, Sarlahi, and Sunsari) of lowland Nepal. The majority of the interviewed farmers were male (72%), formally educated (66%), and 16–78 years old. Around 62% of the farmers reported having seen at least one of the 15 birds that we showed them in the interview, of which 57% recognized them correctly. Farmers from protected areas identified more birds than those from non-protected areas. However, the study revealed farmers' poor understanding of birds' names at the species level, nesting, conservation status, ecosystem services provided, and bird hunting as an illegal practice. The majority of the farmers (63%) liked all 15 birds, mainly for their beautiful appearance and sounds. Bird identification ability was correlated with birds' abundance and influenced by the respondent's gender and knowledge on birds' ecological importance. Most farmers perceived that farmland birds decline was mainly due to hunting and trade, pesticides, and lack of nesting trees in the farmlands. The baseline data of this study can be used by policymakers to develop site-specific conservation action plans for farmland birds. We emphasize the pressing need of conservation interventions by government and conservation organizations to increase farmers' knowledge on birds and their ecology and their importance in ecosystems through community outreach programs and school curriculum for farmland bird conservation.

Influencing Factors the Behavior of Housewives Living Near the Railroad Tracks in Preventing Hearing Loss

Background: The noise generated by the train can affecting the settlement along railway lines negatively based on previous studies, especially affecting the housewives. Preventing hearing disorders from the train’s noise was very important to be done. This study aimed to find the dominant factor and analyzed the factors affecting the behaviour of hearing disorders prevention in settlement along railway lines of Surabaya. Methods: The design of this study was descriptive analytics with a cross-sectional approach. Data were collected with the questionnaire and analyzed using spearman’s rho test and ordinal regression with the significance level was < 0.05. Results and analysis: There was a correlation between knowledge (p=0.001), attitude (p=0.001), and economic status (p=0.001) with the behavior of hearing disorders prevention. In addition to that, the dominant factor affecting behavior of hearing disorders prevention is knowledge (p=0.001) and attitudes (p=0.01). Conclusions: Hearing loss prevention behavior in people who live near railroad tracks is greatly influenced by knowledge, attitudes, and economic status. The better the respondent's knowledge, the more information they get, the higher the effort in preventing hearing loss. The Effect of Counseling and Training on Public Knowledge About Making Handsanitizer from Betel Extract

Hand sanitizers may help increase hand hygiene compliance as the results of invailability of basic needs for cleaning such as soap or water. Since alcohol has an irritating effect on the skin and burns quickly, it is currently discouraged as an active ingredient. Knowledge of covid 19 is critical for the world to have in order for individuals to be able to make informed choices on how to split the covid 19 transmission chain. This thesis employs a pre-experimental method that employs the One Group Pretest-Posttest Design approach. The paired t test was used to examine the relationship between the two variables, namely the betel leaf extract handsanitizer output preparation and the respondent's knowledge of the handsanitizer making process. Extension has an impact on increasing respondents' awareness of how to make natural hand sanitizers. The paired t-test findings indicate that the Sig. = 0.000 0.05, indicating that there is a discrepancy between the pretest and posttest. With a mean value of -5.967, this data indicates the average discrepancy between the pretest and posttest, with a range of -5.383 to -6.551 (95 percent CI), indicating that there is a difference between the pretest and posttest mean values, indicating that the pretest value has an influence on the post test. To stop the spread of Covid19, health care providers and the society must work together.

Awareness and risk burden of diabetes mellitus in a rural community of Ekiti State, South-Western Nigeria.

SummaryObjectiveIn recent times, Diabetes Mellitus (DM) has had a rapid increase in developing countries as a result of changing lifestyles among the people. This study was therefore aimed to investigate the level of awareness of DM and its associated risk factors in Afao: a rural community located in Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Ekiti State, Nigeria.DesignThe study was descriptive cross-sectional in design. A multi-stage sampling technique was applied to recruit respondents who are residents in the community. Two hundred and one individuals were involved in this community-based study. Information was obtained using a modified WHO STEPwise approach to chronic disease risk surveillance. The questionnaire included questions that assessed socio-demographic characteristics, diabetic risk factors and anthropometric measures of respondents.ResultOf the 134 (66.7%) respondents aware of DM, only an average of 43.9% had knowledge of its risk factors. Respondent’s body mass index was significantly associated (P < 0.01) with knowledge of overweight/obesity as overweight (52.9%), grade 1 obese (62.5%) and morbid obese (100%) respondents had no knowledge of their status as risk factors for DM. Also, respondent’s blood pressure status showed a significant association (P = 0.099) with respondent’s knowledge of high blood pressure, 62.5% of those unaware of their blood pressure status had no knowledge of high blood pressure as a diabetes risk factor. Respondent’s age (P = 0.024) and diet; daily vegetable servings (P = 0.015) and cooking oil (P = 0.05) showed significant association with the occurrence of the disease in 14.4% respondents previously diagnosed.ConclusionThis study shows a need to improve on the level of awareness of diabetes risk factors in Afao. Routine measurement of blood glucose levels for adults, community health education and enlightenment strategies through the ministry of health on the awareness of diabetes are highly recommended for the Afao community.

HUBUNGAN TINGKAT PENGETAHUAN TENTANG HIV/AIDS DENGAN PEMANFAATAN LAYANAN CARE, SUPPORT, AND TREATMENT PADA X WANITA PEKERJA SEKSUAL

Pendahuluan: Kota Tasikmalaya berada diwilayah provinsi Jawa Barat dengan kasus HIV/AIDS diurutan ke 13, hingga tahun 2020 sudah mencapai 758 kasus. Penderita di tahun 2020 hingga Mei mencapai 51 kasus, paling banyak diakibatkan karena suami yang suka “jajan” dan ironisnya kota ini dijuluki sebagai kota santri. Tujuan: mengetahui hubungan tingkat pengetahuan tentang HIV/AIDS dengan pemanfaatan layanan Care, Support, and Treatment pada x Wanita Pekerja Seksual. Metode: deskriptif analitik dengan pendekatan cross sectional, 38 responden berdasarkan kriteria inklusi dan eksklusi menggunakan purposive sampling. Instrumen berupa kuesioner dengan 31 pertanyaan, dianalisis univariate dan bivariate menggunakan chie square. Hasil: diketahui bahwa x wanita pekerja seksual memiliki pengetahuan dalam kategori baik yaitu sebanyak 20 orang (52,6%), diketahui bahwa x Wanita Pekerja Seksual yang memanfaatakan layanan CST sebanyak 26 orang (68,4%), diketahui adanya hubungan tingkat pengetahuan dengan pemanfaatan layanan CST di kota Tasikmalaya dengan nilai p-value = 0,019. Diskusi: hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pengetahuan responden yang baik tidak akan memaksakan diri untuk tetap bekerja sebagai WPS sehingga memberikan dampak yang positif bagi dirinya dan mencegah penyebaran pada penderita baru. Disarankan untuk membuat program pendukung layanan CST yang bisa meningkatkan pengetahuan serta memberikan motivasi kepada ODHA.
