Experience gained by the Polish Military Contingent of IRAK in the field of logistic support and preparation of military equipment

ObjectivesThe aim of the article is to present the experience gained by the Polish Military Contingent in Iraq in the field of logistic support and preparation of military equipment. An additional goal is to present how the process of technical security of the Polish Armed Forces outside the country has evolved.MethodsTheoretical research methods were used to author this article, e.g. analysis of specialist military literature and the empirical method - diagnostic survey, interview technique. Based on the observations of soldiers and military personnel, the basic elements of technical protection and preparation of military equipment for a military mission were presented.ResultsThe analysis of the collected information allowed to identify and characterize the experience gained by the Polish Military Contingent in Iraq in the field of logistics support and preparation of military equipment. The article presents the types of used equipment, which has undergone continuous adaptation and modifications.ConclusionsA meticulously organized and functioning technical subsystem determines the proper functioning of military units. The main task of the technical subsystem is to meet the needs of the Polish Armed Forces in times of peace, crisis and war by providing the appropriate amount of military equipment with a maintenance base, as well as providing repair services in the right place and time. On the other hand, in the training process, the technical subsystem prepares logistic units for technical protection in order to ensure the continuity of operations by military subunits.

IMPLEMENTASI JOB SAFETY ANALYSIS DALAM PENANGANAN PENCEGAHAN KECELAKAAN KERJA DI PT.DNP

DNP (Dinamika Nusantara Perkasa) is a business company involved in the field of distributor sales & Repair Services of industrial machinery. . The urgency in conducting research on this company is based on the results of observational activities on observed objects that during the process of activities in performing repair services workers are sometimes less vigilant and careful so that the work they do is at risk in the incidence of a number of accidents. In order to resolve the issues that arise,, conducted research actions aimed at minimizing the occurrence of accidents with the implementation of Job Safety Analysis. In this study was conducted using a semi-qualitative method with data analysis of occupational accident risk that resulted in the conclusion of occupational accident risk at low risk level occurred in the activities of machine component replacement, medium risk accident level in the activities of the installation of knife components and lubricant, high risk level in the activities of material removal , repair of components with welding machines, repair installation of control panels and electric motors. Suggestions intended for the company are expected to require the company to provide personal protective equipment facilities and first aid kit when there are injured workers and the need for the company to emphasize the application of work accident control efforts to workers to minimize the risk of work accidents.

Repair service convenience in a circular economy: The perspective of customers and repair companies

Using repair services instead of new purchases creates local added value and contributes to a circular economy. The main aim of this research was to characterize repair service convenience for customers and to investigate ways to increase convenience to make repairs more attractive for customers, as the construct service convenience has neither been used nor adapted to a repair context until now. For this purpose, focus group interviews with potential customers of repair companies and interactive workshops with repair companies were conducted in the region of Styria (Austria). Findings state that a variety of factors like lack of information regarding repair services and product repairability, inconvenient store hours, or long waits reduce repair service convenience. However, due to skilled labor shortage, long delivery times of spare parts, or lacking financial resources for advertisements, repair companies can only partially improve convenience. Considering that, interventions from different actors, for example, the local government are needed as they can increase convenience by organizing awareness/information events, repair networks, or central repair-points. Hence, this study highlights once more the necessity to collaborate with different stakeholders (including customers, repair companies, local initiatives, and governments) to successfully transform the linear economy to a circular economy.

Inquiry Practice Capability and Students’ Learning Effectiveness Evaluation in Strategies of Integrating Virtual Reality into Vehicle Body Electrical System Comprehensive Maintenance and Repair Services Practice: A Case Study

VR has shown positive growth in the world in recent years, which is mainly due to projects such as learning, games, entertainment and experiential activities. VR has changed the way of life of users, providing users with more interesting interactions and immersive experiences. This study aims to investigate students’ practical capabilities and learning effectiveness under the instruction strategy of integrating virtual reality into simulation games into the Vehicle Body Electrical System Comprehensive Maintenance and Repair Services Practice curriculum for students of the Dept. of Auto Mechanics in a skills-based senior high school. Two student classes of the Dept. of Auto Mechanics major in Electrical Engineering featuring practical subjects in one skills-based senior high school in central Taiwan were chosen as the participants for this study. By way of pretest–post-test research design and heterogeneous grouping, an 8-week instruction experiment was conducted in which ZPD (zone of proximal development) instruction strategies were used in the experimental group (with 43 persons), while traditional didactic instruction strategies were used in the control group (with 36 persons). ZPD instructional strategies analyze and collect quantitative and qualitative data to investigate the instructional effectiveness and feasibility in developing ZPD as the research material in the practical curriculum for the study area of the Power Machinery in Vehicle Body Electrical System Comprehensive Maintenance and Repair Services practice. According to the research objective, the results are concluded as follows. (1) Students achieved the best learning effectiveness when adopting ZPD (zone of proximal development) strategies in which virtual reality was integrated into the vehicle charging and starting system to investigate students’ automotive diagnostic troubleshooting and fault-clearing capabilities. (2) Students attained the highest acceptance in learning phenomenon when adopting ZPD (zone of proximal development) strategies in which virtual reality was integrated into students’ familiar practice factory environment and the tools and equipment operation process. (3) Students had a higher acceptance of learning effectiveness when using virtual reality simulation games in the disassembly and functional detection of vehicle charging and starting systems. (4) There is a positive effect when integrating virtual reality simulation games into ZPD instruction strategies in the knowledge, skills and attitude on students’ overall inquiry practical capabilities and their learning effectiveness.

Some features of public procurement during matrial law

Ukraine lives under martial law for over 12 months, which, provides for special rules and procedures for exercising the powers of state authorities,enterprises, institutions, and organizations. One of the most important and topical issues for the moment is the implementation of public procurement to meet the needs of the army, medical and rehabilitation facilities, educational institutions, and, to ensure the functioning of the country and society in general. Therefore, this research is devoted to the study of martial law concepts, public procurement, and the peculiarities of algorithms for carrying out public procurement and their application conditions, documentary confirmation of the legitimate implementation of procurement according to the algorithm without the use of open bidding and/or an electronic catalog. In this article, the author researches the regulatory and legal basis of public procurement during martial law, the correlation between the norms of the Law of Ukraine “On Public Procurement” and Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Resolutions regulating the issue of public procurement during martial law, as well as other special regulatory and legal acts. Algorithms for public procurement of goods and services worth or over 100,000 UAH, ongoing repair services with the cost starting from 200,000 UAH, other works with the cost over 1.5 million hryvnias, were researched in detail. It was determined that in certain cases the customer can choose the procurement algorithm depending on the circumstances, and attention was also focused on the need for documentary confirmation of the circumstances that allow choosing a simplified public procurement algorithm. Particular attention is paid to the study of procurement conditions without the procedure of open bidding and/or electronic catalog, foreseen in the clause 13 Peculiarities of public procurement of goods, works and services for customers, approved by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 1178, the so-called “by exceptions” procurement, as well as other exceptions of the general procedure for public procurement to meet the urgent needs of the state under martial law.

OPTIMIZATION OF THE REPLACEMENT PROCESS FOR THE BRAKE SHOES ISUZU GIGA TRUCK AT PT AI-ISO DM JAKARTA BRANCH

PT AI-ISO workshop on DM Jakarta provides various repair and periodic maintenance services. In periodic maintenance, brake repair jobs have problems replacing the brake pads (brake shoe set) of Isuzu Giga Trucks, which takes about 9 hours. To reduce the processing time, an improvement process is carried out to shorter processing time, so the customer feels more satisfied with repairing his vehicle. From observations, the length of work time was due to the process of changing the brake pads outside the workshop due to the absence of tools to install the brake pads. The repair shop offers to replace a set of brake pads, but the price is higher than just replacing the brake pads, so the customer makes this choice. The improvement made was the manufacture of a rivet installation tool on the brake pads based on the workings of a rivet machine. First, it is necessary to make a brake pad holder so that it does not shift when pressed and ensures that the pressure acting on the rivet is as requested. This tool is also equipped with a Standard Operation Procedure to make it easier for technicians to replace brake pads. The result is a decrease in processing time for the brake pad replacement process from an average of 9 hours to 5 hours. With these tools, repairing the brake system can be accelerated and within the safe limits required in the vehicle's manual, and the customer will be more satisfied.

Becoming a repair entrepreneur: an ethnography of skills training in Brazil

Santa Efigênia in São Paulo is an important Latin American hub for buying and selling electronics. This article draws on long-term fieldwork to discuss repair training in the neighbourhood. While scholars have looked at formal and informal educational spaces, this article looks at a new kind of institution that creatively combines aspects of street repair and high-end information technology services. Individuals from all over Brazil seek out this popular private school with the expectation of becoming self-employed cellphone technicians. The article starts with a description of repair practices in Santa Efigênia and an analysis of the barriers to and accessibility of repair knowledge, including for the female ethnographer. It then centres on the school’s training sessions, examining how students are prepared to become repair entrepreneurs through a mix of technical skills and para-technical concerns with ­aesthetics, logistical speed and networking. I show that this school redraws communities of practice, bringing new actors into repair while excluding others along social divisions of race, class, and gender. Engaging with critiques of the neoliberal push for entrepreneurship in development, I consider the contradictions of this institution, concluding with a discussion of how this case offers insights into the democratisation and dissemination of repair knowledge.

Cooperative Repair Scheduling and Service Restoration for Distribution Systems With Soft Open Points

Fault management is one of the crucial functions of Smart Grid to bring system back to normal operation from fault events. In this paper, we propose a multi-period cooperative solution for the jointly repair and restoration problem in distribution systems (DSs) to minimize the de-energized loads. In the proposed scheme, the novel fully-controlled power-electronic device SOP (soft open point) and fault isolation are included to accelerate system restoration. As the repair and restoration process goes forward, system topology changes frequently. How to determine the control mode of SOPs considering their characteristics during the entire restoration process is rarely studied in the literature. To this end, we present a new virtual power flow based automatic solution to adaptively perform control mode switching for the SOPs in faulted DS. Furthermore, a co-optimization model is formulated that coordinates SOP control, repair scheduling and DS restoration to obtain optimal repair and switch action sequences matching SOP control mode for DS resilience enhancement. The fault isolation is also conducted, since it has great impacts on repair and switch operations and can guarantee the safety of repair crews in practice. Numerical simulations on a modified IEEE 123-node test system and a large-scale actual distribution system verify the effectiveness of the proposed model.

The domestic rice industry of Ethiopia is constrained by low productivity, poor quality, and old processing machines. The rice production system is done by hand or with rudimentary tools, and only 2% of households have access to tractors. It takes 175 labor days to weed and 66% of the total farm operations. Rice harvesting and threshing are done manually using a serrated sickle and animal trembling respectively. Farmers are responsible for most of the pre-milling operations and store paddy for household consumption in local stores. Challenges include fragmented farm holdings, poor marketing channels, and a lack of awareness of post-harvest utilization. The prospects for rice mechanization development include improving the rice mechanization research system, training local entrepreneurs, providing repair and maintenance services, promoting custom hiring centers, local manufacturing of farm implements, organizing agricultural cooperatives, landholding, and land ownership structures, assessing foreign experience, linking importers and service providers, and encouraging investments in the rural infrastructure.

Manufacturing rescheduling after crisis or disaster-caused supply chain disruption

In this paper, we study the problems a repair shop has with rescheduling after major supply disruptions. The repair shop provides repair and maintenance services to its customers. After a major disruption to production, the repair shop faces delays in production and order delivery due to shortages in materials and/or labor, which requires rescheduling of all the unfinished parts. We observe that the finished parts incur high holding costs until the entire order is completed, while any unfinished parts (in the form of raw material or work-in-progress) incur low holding costs until production starts. Moreover, the repair shop incurs a setup cost when switching between different types of parts. Considering these new features, we formulate the rescheduling problem for the repair shop under a coordinated supply chain as an integer program to minimize the total tardiness, setup cost, and holding cost. To solve the model, we propose an innovative two-stage genetic algorithm, which utilizes the estimation of distribution algorithm (EDA) to improve the search process of the optimal solution. We test the performance of this algorithm on a dataset generated from the order data of a heavy machinery maintenance provider. The numerical results show that our model generates solutions that outperform the initial schedule, which was obtained by minimizing holding and setup costs without disruption. In addition, using other closely-related genetic algorithms as benchmarks, we show that our algorithm outperforms the benchmarks without sacrificing the computational time. We also discuss an extension of the main model by considering the recovery of productivity in terms of processing time.

Sufficiency as trend or tradition?—Uncovering business pathways to sufficiency through historical advertisements

Climate change and dwindling resources underline that we need to bring production and consumption levels in line with planetary boundaries. Consumption, particularly in high-income communities, needs to be reduced and stabilized at sustainable levels. Businesses can play a key role as suppliers of goods and services and creators of demand. Some companies are rising to the challenge and promoting less consumption or “sufficiency” through long product lifetimes, repair services or rental offers, but they remain niche actors in the economic system. Similarly, while circular initiatives gain traction across sectors, firms focus primarily on recycling and efficiency improvements rather than supporting more radical “Reduce” strategies. To engage companies in promoting sustainable levels of consumption, it can be helpful to understand pathways of established businesses who currently promote sufficiency. What can we learn from companies that currently promote sufficiency in their communications? Have they always advocated sufficient consumption, or have they changed recently? Through a historical perspective, we provide insights on the pathway of sufficiency for three companies. A document analysis of historical advertisements shines light on the messaging to potential customers over time. It is combined with an analysis of contemporary communications to connect the companies' past and present sufficiency approaches. Understanding different pathways to sufficiency can help modern-day businesses to reconsider their own business models and orientation. It can also point out levers for policy to support a transformation toward sustainable and circular business models that promote living within planetary boundaries.

Managing production-inventory-maintenance systems with condition monitoring

Providing spare parts and maintenance services to customers has become an important revenue stream for equipment manufacturers. This paper studies a Production-Inventory-Maintenance (PIM) system where a manufacturer serves an installed base of machines. Each machine contains the same critical component, whose degradation behaviour is described by a Markov process and captured via condition monitoring. When the state of a component reaches a prespecified replacement threshold, the machine is considered to have failed and incurs downtime penalties until being repaired. There are a few repair servers and queueing dynamics follows the Machine Interference Problem (MIP). Component deterioration and server congestion provide advance demand information, which helps plan the production of spare parts in a make-to-stock routine. The unsatisfied requests for spare parts are fulfilled by emergency replenishments with lost-sales penalties. We formulate the production-control problem as a continuous-time Markov decision process, characterize the structure of the optimal policy, and develop an effective heuristic policy. Through numerical experiments, we reveal a number of notable differences between managing PIM systems and operating MIP systems alone: (1) Although identifying more degradation states has no value to MIP systems, PIM systems benefit substantially from such a refined state identification. (2) While MIP systems prefer more repair servers and higher repair operation efficiency, greater repair capacity may worsen the performance of PIM systems. (3) When the product of repair service rate and server number is fixed, a single server is always preferred in MIP systems. However, PIM systems could perform better with multiple less-efficient servers.

Research on Cloud-Edge-Terminal function configuration based on differentiated low-voltage intelligent distribution network

At the present, more than 30 low-voltage intelligent distribution rooms have been built in Yunnan Power Grid, covering incoming cabinets, distribution substations, low-voltage switches and environmental monitoring, etc. The intelligent distribution rooms use the Cloud-Edge-Terminal architecture model for intelligent management, monitoring and control of low-voltage distribution rooms but there are generally problems such as low level of heterogeneous data application, insufficient correlation analysis capability, fault location. Based on the application model of low-voltage intelligent distribution network of Yunnan power grid, Our paper intends to summarize the experience and methods to support operation and maintenance, fault repair and customer service and study the differentiated low-voltage intelligent distribution Cloud-Edge-Terminal solution to improve the efficiency of intelligent distribution network operation and maintenance.

Introduction. Modern researches at the domain of radiotechnical devices and parts are showing that mean time between failures often is omitting during the brand new device designing process. Purpose of the development is to improve the method of the reliability values evaluation of the objects with variable structure including the different sets of elements working time at all possible usage modes as intended. The set-theoretic models of objects that are allowed to estimate power of element subsets quantitatively used in different modes of operation for the purpose of evaluation the reliability indicators of radio-electronic means depending on the structure of the object and the order of changing modes of operation. With the help of the mathematical apparatus of set theory, it has been proven that the reliability of radio-electronic devices will be maximum at the minimum power of the elements used during operation and vice versa. Methods. Evaluation method is needed to take into account vast majority of the minor aspects that were not included before during the calculation procedures: multi-mode work, multi-functioning, excess availability that leads to the object structure changing during its usage for purpose. Results. Taking the fifth-generation station for the experiment, several detail sets were chosen for installation into the device. Competence of the repair service, quality of the details, work-mode was taken into account for the certain result calculation achieving. Conclusion. Brand new, detailed method has been developed for the effectiveness of the objects with variable structure evaluation. Multimode availability could be a significant reliability improving feature at the devices with such structure. Also, evaluation of some separate parts of the device structure would be much more useful for the working period prolongation than evaluation of the device as a whole.

Dynamic scheduling with uncertain job types

Uncertain job types can arise as a result of predictive or diagnostic inaccuracy in healthcare or repair service systems and unknown preferences in matching service systems. In this paper, we study systems with multiple types of jobs, in which type information is imperfect and will be updated dynamically. Each job has a prior probability of belonging to a certain type which may be predicted by data, models, or experts. A job can only be processed by the right machine, and a job assigned to the wrong machine must be rescheduled. More information is learned from the mismatch, and job type probabilities are updated. The question is how to dynamically schedule all jobs so that they can be processed in a timely fashion. We use a novel coupling and inductive method to conduct optimality analysis. We obtain the near-optimal policy regarding completion time, named the less-uncertainty-first policy, when there are two types of jobs; the insights it yields are used to develop heuristic algorithms for more general cases. We also consider other objectives, including the number of mismatches and the total amount of time jobs spend in the system. In our numerical study, we examine the performance of the proposed heuristics when there are more than two types of jobs under two learning schemes: dedicated learning and exclusive learning. In the extension, we also analyze an online version of the problem in which jobs arrive sequentially to the system and must be assigned immediately and irrevocably without any knowledge of future jobs. We analyze the competitive ratios of different scheduling policies and find similar insights. It is essential that managers dynamically schedule services by leveraging predictive information and knowledge learned from mismatches. Our proposed less-uncertainty-first policy, which accounts for system dynamics to avoid mismatches and resource idling, can be used to improve system efficiency in various contexts.

Jaya Repair Shop is a service provider of repair and maintenance of damaged or dirty footwear. Customers who want to repair their damaged footwear can only be served at the store location. Recording of orders is also still done manually using books. Information on available services and the amount of service fees can also only be known to customers by asking directly to the service provider. Similarly, the estimated repair time that cannot be ascertained often makes customers have to wait. Therefore, the author wants to design a web-based repair service ordering application to improve service and revenue Jaya Repair Shop. The system will be designed using prototype method and problem analysis using qualitative method described with fishbone diagram. The system will be built using PHP programming language and MySQL database. The result of this research is a web application for ordering shoe repair services that can be used by customers to order repair services anytime and anywhere, as well as a container to increase the income of repair service providers.

Exposure to occupational risk factors is associated with the severity and progression of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) results from a complex interaction between genes and the environment, and occupational exposures are an underappreciated risk factor. Until now, little research attention has been paid to the potential impact of occupational risk factor exposure on the COPD in China. The aim of this retrospective study was to analyze the role of occupational risk factor exposure on the severity and progression of COPD for exploring new prevention strategies for this disease. This study adopted a random cluster-sampling method. Five grade-A tertiary hospitals that met the inclusion criteria were selected as the survey sites, and patients with COPD hospitalized in these hospitals from January 1, 2019, to December 31, 2019, were selected as the research subjects. Data of the patients diagnosed with COPD met the Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (2019) criteria and were collected from the computerized medical record databases. Among 4082 investigated COPD patients, 1063 (26%) were found to have occupational risk factor exposure history. The top 3 industries with a large COPD case number and a history of occupational risk factor exposure ranked in the order of agriculture (including farming, forestry, animal husbandry, and fishery), manufacturing, and mining. Further multivariate logistic regression analysis indicated that when setting a low exposure level as a reference, medium and high exposure levels were correlated with the severity of COPD (odds ratio values were 2.837 and 6.201, respectively, P < .05). Linear regression analysis showed that cumulative exposure to occupational risk factors was negatively correlated with the forced expiratory volume in 1-second percentage of COPD patients, with a correlation coefficient of 0.68. Our results indicated that occupational risk factor exposure levels were related to the severity of COPD significantly. The incubation period of COPD in the exposure group was significantly shorter than that in the non-exposure group. To prevent worked-related COPD, special attention and control efforts should be taken to reduce the level of occupational risk factors such as organic dust, irritating chemicals, etc in the work environments, especially in the industries of agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery, manufacturing, and mining.
