Today, remote control of instrumentation and remote measurement techniques represent a particularly interesting topic. Mature technologies are able to fully control devices and, in particular, help in remote measurement processes and calibrations. Now, attention has been moved to other questions, such as resource consumption, network availability, and client-server communication link. Mobile agent (MA) technology is capable of providing interesting solutions to the aforementioned problems, and an investigation concerning the possibility to migrate this technology to the measurement world is advisable. This paper reports some preliminary considerations and examples of applications of the MA technology in remote measurements
