Building National Character: The Role of Character Education in History Learning

Purpose of the study: The purpose of this study is to determine the general description of Senior High School Number 1 Gunung Talang and the implementation of character education in history learning at Senior High School Number 1 Gunung Talang. Methodology: This research is qualitative-descriptive. To conduct the research, data sources are needed, both primary and secondary sources. Data collection used is observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis techniques include collecting data, data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. Triangulation data validity techniques. Main Findings: Senior High School Number 1 Gunung Talang was established to address the lack of high schools in Solok Regency, especially for students from Cupak and nearby areas. Character education is integrated into the lesson plans and history learning process through group discussions, respect for others' opinions, religious habits, and discipline. It is evaluated based on students' attitudes during learning. Supporting factors include ample time and adequate facilities, but challenges arise as teachers cannot monitor students' behavior outside the classroom, where environmental influences play a role. Novelty/Originality of this study: This study shows that history learning can be an effective means of forming national character through the instillation of moral values. With the integration of educational character, students not only learn historical events, but also develop attitudes of discipline, mutual respect, and religious values ​​that support the formation of national character.

Hiding in plain view: religiosity and patronage in the works of William Dugdale

ABSTRACT This paper considers the religious sympathies and motivations of the antiquary William Dugdale, and of some of those who helped support the publication of his works through patronage of their engraved plates. It examines in particular a series of nineteen costume plates illustrating Catholic religious habits, which feature in Dugdale’s co-authored Monasticon Anglicanum (1655–73) and (with an element of duplication) in his Antiquities of Warwickshire (1656). The patrons of these plates are for the most part not openly named, but can in certain cases be identified through their coats of arms: at least two (Thomas Yate and Miles Stapleton) were themselves Catholic, and another (Wingfield Bodenham) appears to have been sympathetic to Catholicism.

PENGARUH PEMBIASAAN KEAGAMAAN TERHADAP AKHLAK SISWA KELAS 8 DI SMP NEGERI 1 SAWAHAN NGANJUK

Abstraction This study aims to determine the Influence of Religious Habits on the Morals of 8th Grade Students at SMP Negeri 1 Sawahan Nganjuk. This study uses a quantitative approach, because the data obtained is presented in the form of numbers and analysis based on statistics. The data that will be presented in the form of numbers in this study are religious habits and moral data taken from the research object. While the data collection methods used in this study are: Observation method, Documentation method and Questionnaire method. Data analysis techniques in this study include descriptive statistical analysis, inferential analysis, and hypothesis testing. The results of this study indicate that: religious habits have an influence on the morals of 8th grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Sawahan Nganjuk with a correlation coefficient of 0.602. This means that religious habits carried out by 8th grade students have a high influence on their morals. The coefficient of determination value in SPSS v.25 data processing is 0.355. PEMBIASAAN SHALAT BERJAMA’AH DALAM MEMBENTUK KARAKTER SISWA YANG KOMUNIKATIF DAN BERTANGGUNG JAWAB DI SMA MUHAMMADIYAH 4 PORONG SIDOARJO

Character education starts from childhood. Religious habits that are carried out to form a religious character, such as congregational prayer create a communicative and responsible character, this phenomenon is an attraction for researchers to carry out this research. The research method used is qualitative by emphasizing the socially constructed nature of reality, namely establishing a close relationship between the researcher and those being researched. The locus of this research is SMA Muhammadiyah 4 Porong. The data collection techniques used are interviews, observation, and documentation analysis, while the informants are principals, teachers, and some students. The results of the research show that students at SMA Muhammadiyah 4 Porong who carry out Islamic habits mean providing good things to students, such as congregational prayer, muraja'ah together. It appears to researchers that these characters support their sense of responsibility, good attitudes, and attitudes. and more serious in carrying out their duties in learning. The disciplined character in carrying out group prayers and then murajaah together is an Islamic character which is an illustration of students' responsibility in carrying out their duties and responsibilities as a Muslim who adheres to their religion. The implications of research regarding the habit of praying together in forming the character of communicative and responsible students include: 1) Educational practitioners know the importance of religious education in schools, 2) Implementing curriculum integration in schools, 3) Teachers and school staff have a complex role in fostering students' sense of responsibility in their daily lives, 4) Establishing collaboration between teachers and parents.

Religious reality in short stories with the theme of the COVID-19 pandemic

During the COVID-19 pandemic, short story literary works emerged with the theme of the pandemic. This short story raises the theme of the pandemic and, at the same time, provides an overview of the religious realities that occurred during the pandemic. The pandemic creates new problems at the level of the religious habits. This is a dilemma faced by the Indonesian people. The reality of religion during the pandemic can be seen in the rituals of worship and religious habits. This research aims to describe the reality of religion during the pandemic in short stories with the theme of the COVID-19 pandemic. The data source in this research is nine short stories with the theme of the COVID-19 pandemic published in online media (suaramerdeka.com, republika.com, and cerpenmu.com) in the period 2020-2021. The selection of the nine short stories was based on a purposive sampling technique with a focus on novice writers. The technique used in this research is note-taking, which involves the writer reading and recording the findings of religious realities in short stories with the theme of the COVID-19 pandemic. The results of this research show two aspects of religious reality in short stories with the theme of the COVID-19 pandemic, namely worship rituals and religious habits. The reality of religion in worship rituals in short stories with the theme of the COVID-19 pandemic is to invite people to use religion to resolve the pandemic without worsening conditions. Meanwhile, the reality of religious diversity in religious habits shows the phenomenon of people still trying to realize religious habits during Eid by paying attention to the health protocols that apply amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

``Namanya juga Pesantren'': A Photovoice Study about Self-adjustment of Students in Islamic Boarding School

Pondok Pesantren (PP) or Islamic boarding school is a popular religious educational institution in Indonesia. The characteristic of PP required students to live in a boarding school, this encouraged students to be able to adapt to the differences and limitations of PP. This study aims to find out how students adapt to PP. The participants are four female students in grade 2 of a PP junior high school in the city of Ternate, North Maluku. The method used in this study is photovoice and analyzed using thematic analysis with Nvivo 12 Pro software. Four themes of adjustment emerged from the findings are as follows: new habits, religious habits, facing and resolving challenges, and relationships.

In the teaching and learning process, the natural school curriculum is integrated with the national curriculum. The concept of the natural school combines three pillars of education: faith, knowledge, and leadership, as reflected in the vision and mission of MI Alam Ali Thaibah. The school envisions producing leaders who are devout, knowledgeable, and possess noble character, becoming a source of blessing for the entire universe. The mission includes fostering students' awareness of their responsibilities as servants of Allah, creating an environment that upholds moral values, instilling religious habits, preparing students to be trustworthy leaders, providing basic entrepreneurship education for student independence, developing effective communication skills, honing emotional intelligence in interactions, facilitating students to acquire extensive knowledge, and instilling awareness of the importance of preserving the environment.implementation of ZPD Lesson Plan (RPP) in MI Alam Ali Thaibah in Cibitung - Bekasi.this research employed qualitative research, the result show that the target audience for this community service activity is the teachers of MI Alam Ali Thaibah in Cibitung - Bekasi. The presentation of community service material for these teachers includes lectures, demonstrations, and practical exercises with question and answer sessions. Lectures are used to explain introductory concepts and theories of teaching media, demonstrations illustrate the stages of creating RPP using the ZPD method, and question and answer sessions provide participants with the opportunity to consult on overcoming challenges in implementing teaching techniques.

Between Spanish Franciscans and Chinese Literati in Late Ming and Early Qing: Modes of Interactions and Cultural Exchanges

The Franciscan Order was one of the most important missionary orders in China during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. While rooted in the local communities, they also engaged in various forms of interactions with Chinese literati. This article will begin by briefly discussing the issue of the Franciscans changing from religious habit into Chinese dress as well as their evolving attitude towards Confucianism and Chinese rituals, aiming to illustrate the process of shaping their “Western Confucian” image and their adaptation to Chinese culture. Subsequently, the focus of this paper will be shifted to exploring the modes of interactions between the Spanish Franciscans and the Chinese literati. The author argues that the interactions between the two sides were primarily power-based. These power-based interactions entailed establishing connections with officials and leveraging their influence to safeguard missionary activities. It can be further categorized into three types. The first type involved socializing with officials, while the second type included interaction with Jesuit officials in court, and the third type was direct involvement in official positions. In their engagement with literati, the Franciscans demonstrated a thorough understanding of and adaptation to Chinese societal and cultural norms, thereby facilitating the development of their mission.

Parent and Child Interaction Models in Islamic-Based Family Education

In the context of Islamic teachings, religious education for children is the main obligation that parents must carry out before teaching children another knowledge. The choices and patterns of parents in educating children in the family are directly correlated with the child's religious habits. In fact, the religious formation of children must be taught as early as possible, in fact these religious habits must begin in the womb. In fact, this research aims to find out how parents and children interact in Islamic-based education. This research uses a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach, data sources were taken through in-depth interviews with seven informants, to strengthen the interview data the author also carried out direct observations to document various activities carried out by parents in educating their children in an Islamic way. All interview and observation data were analyzed using the Milles & Huberman interactive thematic analysis model technique. Research findings found a model of interaction between mother and child in the informant's family, such as putting the family in one system, seeing children as small adults. Models such as the findings of this research can be used as examples by Muslim families in educating and interacting with children

Religion and British Raj Religious Development in Multan Division during Colonial Period

Like other regions and countries around the world, religion and religious development have remained an important aspect of South Asian culture. In some instances, people's religious habits were thought to be the primary determinant of their identity. This article aims to comprehend and identify the fundamental theological tendencies that affected Multan's division under British administration. South Asia in general and Multan in particular have seen a movement toward a diversity of religious views. Muslims, Sikhs, and Hindus were the most well-known and prominent religious groups that contributed to Multani culture. Christianity was the new religion that took off in Multan and other nearby locations. There were a few locals who converted to the new religion, but the number of conversions to the new infrastructure of religious buildings (churches), which became a part of Multani society, was not great. Religion-Based Business Ethics among African Muslim Small-Scale Businessowners in Guangzhou, China

Based on fourteen months of ethnographic research, this article examines how African Muslim migrants build and maintain religious-based business ethics, and how they apply these ethical business norms to help navigate their transnational lives in Guangzhou, China. Most of the African Muslim migrants explored in the article are small-scale businessowners who engage in semi-formal economic activities in both local and home markets. They face racial, cultural, and legal challenges on a daily basis. Unable to access formal means of support due to their precarious economic and legal status, many African Muslim small businessowners rely on informal business ethics to ensure a safe trading environment and mitigate risk. Their business ethics, I argue, are rooted in what I term “religious common ground”—the moral and ethical values shared among migrants from different Muslim groups. This article also explores the enforcing mechanisms of African Muslims small-scale businessowners’ business ethics, such as mosques and co-religion business networks. This article concludes that there is no universal, standard code of conduct among African Muslim businessowners in Guangzhou. Individuals among different Muslim communities have diverse interpretations of business ethics and practices them differently based on their nationality, ethnicity, religious habits, and socio-cultural background. This article contributes to a small but important literature that calls for the center role that religion plays in Muslim migrants’ business practices in a non-Muslim society.

Whereas regarding Islamic character education through religious habituation is to apply religious habituation which is carried out every day as a process of forming children's character to behave noble, obedient to worship, honest, tolerant, care for the environment, responsible and become the foundation of faith for children, good character will emerge if religious values ​​are getting stronger and more instilled in the child's environment, both in the family environment and the school environment.

Conservation Proposals for Monasteries in Karpas Peninsula, Northern Cyprus

Rural monasteries reflect the dependence on religion and agriculture with their space organization, function, and the lifestyle of the religious communities. Although conservation and reuse of monasteries are significant methods for transferring the knowledge of these religious heritage sites and their historical religious habits, many monastery buildings are threatened by abandonment, neglect, and idleness in Cyprus. This is mainly due to political and social reasons, which resulted in the loss of their connection with groups’ religious communities. This study mainly focuses on the nine monasteries which are located in the Karpas Peninsula. This paper discusses the lack of proper conservation activities for abandoned monasteries in Northern Cyprus, particularly with rural medieval monasteries located on the Karpas Peninsula. Concepts, such as adaptive reuse of monasteries and cultural routes, are noted in the state of the art section which formed the basis of the case studies included in this paper. The study underlines the significance of monasteries and monastic life in Northern Cyprus and discusses the current material as well as structural problems of these structures. Further to this, a proposal in respect of the construction of the monasteries’ route is made. Finally, the importance of the restoration and reuse of these monasteries and their possible contribution to tourism, gastronomic, and religious experiences are noted.

Frozen in time: Caprine pen from an early Islamic earthquake complex in Tel Beth Shemesh

Skeletons of ten articulated goats and additional numerous caprine remains were found in an architectural complex that was destroyed by an earthquake, dating to the 8th century CE in Tel Beth Shemesh, Israel. As this assemblage represents a unique event, of a living herd “frozen in time”, we studied it in comparison to the general “consumed assemblage” of caprinae from the rest of the site. Reconstructing the herds' demographics, by examining age and sex profiles, enabled us to gain insights into the economic, cultural, and religious habits of the local human population. Based on this analysis, we suggest that the herd was managed for meat, possibly for holiday feasts.

The aim of the article is to present the origins and spread of Lutheranism in Europe as perceived by the Jesuits and historian Jan Poszakowski. He was a Jesuit, teacher and historian. The author of several books on historical and theological topics. One of tchem, entitled The Lutheran History, describes in detail the stages of the Reformation movement, specificialy Lutheranism, in European countries. The author begins his History of Lutheranism from the 16th century, but also refers in some fragments to earlier eras, ending with the Thirty Years’ War. The historical perspective is especially valuable in this work, as the author also describes events close in time for him. The premise of the article was to relate the story written by Jan Poszakowski to the story written by later authors. The main source for writing the article is Historia Lutherska by Jan Poszakowski, as well as several items of literature on the history of the Church and the history of the reformation. The religious movement in the sixteenth century grew up on the basis of socio-political conflicts and led to a permanent split in the Roman Church, and thus to the emergence of Protestantism The discussed work of Poszakowski presents a biography of Martin Luther. The author, having at his disposal Luther's writings, enumerated in detail the issues that formed the basics of the doctrine of Lutheranism. The Negative Factor of Islamic Mentality and Value System in Integration Processes of Muslim Communities in Western Europe

Migration has long been a controversial issue of debate in various aspects and by specialists in different fields. It poses problems to the migrants and the target country as those people need to settle down in, sometimes, absolutely new environments and integrates into societies unfamiliar to them. This can be affected by several circumstances. This work studies how various factors, like mentality and value system, have affected the integration processes of Muslims into Western societies and how traditions, religious habits, and lifestyles of Muslim citizens hamper them from integration and political engagement. The research broadly covers the opinions and positions of Russian researchers on the issue.

LEARNING CYCLE MANAGEMENT BASED ON LOCAL WISDOM IN INSTILLING THE CHARACTER OF RELIGIOUS STUDENTS IN MADRASA

The subjects of this study were students of MI Nurur Rahmah. The data analysis technique used is descriptive qualitative analysis, and the data collection technique used is the method of observation and interviews. The local wisdom that exists at MI Nurur Rahmah is part of the habits that are believed and obeyed by students and teachers at MI Nururrahmah, which are religious habits or practices that occur every day, such as congregational prayers, dhuha prayers, and reading the Qur'an. before the KBM starts. As a source of learning and the cultivation of local wisdom character values that can be instilled in students' personalities,Based on the results of research and discussion on inculcating students' religious character, the management of the learning cycle based on local wisdom applied by MI teacher Nurur Rahmah aims to make students better understand the meaning of piety in religious rituals, so that the religious values contained therein can be instilled in students with the hope of becoming their religious character later by instilling the religious character of students through habituation in the institution.

Bangladeş’in kentsel ve kırsal nüfusları arasında COVID-19 üzerine karşılaştırmalı bir çalışma

Objective: This study is aimed to identify the awareness and behavioral perspective on COVID-19 between urban and rural people of Bangladesh during the period of outbreak. Methods: A community-based cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted in 30 districts of Bangladesh, where 322 participants from urban and 312 from rural area. Participants were selected through convenience sampling. Results: Rural people are found to be much more inter connected to receive information from neighbor. Regarding the incubation periods and the general symptoms, knowledge differs significantly from urban to rural. Even their precautionary and transmission knowledge is found to associate in most of the cases. During this outbreak, urban people significantly increase their religious habits and also believe that there will some major change of life after outbreak. Conclusion: The descriptive study reflected that health education program needed to aware about COVID-19 in both urban and rural in Bangladesh that helps in formulating and executing communication and outbreak management.
