Details are presented of the inspection, repair, and replacement programmes that were necessary after welding defects had been discovered in primary circuit attachments at three of the Central Electricity Generating Board's (CEGB) steel pressure vesselled stations. These were at Bradwell and Dungeness ‘A’ power stations in the South Eastern Region of the CEGB and at Berkeley power station in the South Western Region. The refurbishment programme required both nuclear reactors at each station to be shut down for periods of two to three years.
