Halogen-functionalized covalent organic frameworks for photocatalytic Cr(VI) reduction under visible light

Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) are a type of novel organic catalysts which show great potential in the treatment of environmental contaminations. Herein, we synthesized three isoreticular halogen-functionalized (F, Cl and Br) porphyrin COFs for visible-light (420 nm ≤ λ ≤ 780 nm) photocatalytic reduction of Cr(VI) to Cr(III). Halogen substituents with tunable electronegativity can regulate the band structure and modulate the charge carrier kinetics of COFs. In the absence of any sacrificial reagent, the isoreticular COFs exhibited good photocatalytic reduction activity of Cr(VI). Particularly, the TAPP-2F showed nearly 100 % conversion efficiency and the highest reaction rate constants (k) on account of the strong electronegativity of F substituent. Experimental results and theoretical calculations showed that the conduction band (CB) potentials of COFs became more negative and charge carrier separation increased with the enhancement of electronegativity (Br < Cl < F), which could provide sufficient driving force for the photoreduction of Cr(VI) to Cr(III). The halogen substituents strategy for regulating the electronic structure of COFs can provide opportunities for designing efficient photocatalysts for environmental remediation. Meanwhile, the mechanistic insights reported in this study help to understand the photocatalytic degradation pathways of heavy metals.

Penternary Wurtzitic Nitrides Li1-xZnxGe2-xGaxN3: Powder Synthesis, Crystal Structure, and Potentiality as a Solar-Active Photocatalyst.

We developed a new penternary wurtzitic nitride system Li1-xZnxGe2-xGaxN3 (0 ≤ x ≤ 1) by hybridizing LiGe2N3 and ZnGeGaN3. Fairly stoichiometric fine powder samples were synthesized by the reduction-nitridation process at 900 °C. While the end member LiGe2N3 possessed a relatively large band gap of 4.16 eV, the band gap of the developed penternary system varied in a broad range of 3.81 to 3.10 eV, showing promising responsivity to the solar spectrum. The crystal structure of LiGe2N3 was precisely determined by time-of-flight neutron powder diffraction for the first time, revealing the complete ordering of Li and Ge in the Cmc21 structure. The structural evolution from completely ordered LiGe2N3 to fully disordered ZnGeGaN3 was quantitatively analyzed by Rietveld refinement based on a partially disordered Cmc21 model, and the obtained results were also supported by 71Ga solid-state NMR spectroscopy. The synthesized Li1-xZnxGe2-xGaxN3 powder samples exhibited photocatalytic activities for the water reduction and oxidation reactions under solar light irradiation, with the H2 evolution rate of 0.3-59.0 μmol/h and the O2 evolution rate of 3.1-296.2 μmol/h, depending on the composition. Stable solar hydrogen generation of up to 48 h was demonstrated by the x = 0.80 sample, with the total amount of H2 evolved over 1.6 mmol and an external quantum efficiency of 2.1%.

Synergistic Engineering of Energy Band Alignment and Interfacial Electric Field Distribution over Bi-bismuth-Based Hetero-nanofibers for Boosting Visible-Light-Driven Photocatalytic Ammonia Synthesis and Antibiotic Removal.

Synergistic engineering of energy band alignment and interfacial electric field distribution is essential for photocatalyst design but is still challenging because of the limitation on refined regulation in the nanoscale. This study addresses the issue by employing surface modification and thermal-induced phase transformation in Bi2MoO6/BixOyIz hetero-nanofiber frameworks. The energy band alignment switches from a type-II interface to a Z-scheme contact with stronger redox potentials and inhibited electron traps, and the optimized built-in electric field distribution could be reached based on experimental and theoretical investigations. The engineered hetero-nanofibers exhibit outstanding visible-light-driven photocatalytic nitrogen reduction activity (605 μmol/g/h) and tetracycline hydrochloride removal rate (81.5% within 30 min), ranking them among the top-performing bismuth series materials. Furthermore, the photocatalysts show promise in activating advanced oxidants for efficient organic pollutant degradation. Moreover, the Bi2MoO6/Bi5O7I hetero-nanofibers possess good recycling stability owing to their three-dimensional network structure. This research offers valuable insights into heterojunction design for environmental remediation and industrial applications.

Insights into the effect of Ni doping on In2S3 for enhanced activity and selectivity of photocatalytic CO2 reduction

The limited photocatalytic CO2 reduction performance mainly lies in the low utilization of photogenerated electrons during the reaction. In this work, we developed the defect level within the Ni-doped In2S3 nanotube photocatalysts via a simple solvothermal method to increase the available amount of photogenerated electrons for enhanced photocatalytic CO2 reduction performance than the pristine In2S3. The introduction of Ni element into the lattice of In2S3 could significantly improve the photocatalytic activity and selectivity without destruction of the nanotube structure of In2S3. The yield of CO reaches 243.2 μmol/g/h under visible light, which is the highest reported value among In2S3 photocatalysts, and is 8.2 times more than the pure In2S3. Moreover, by modulating the doping amount of Ni element, the selectivity of CO varied from 27.7% to 51.0%. Further characterizations suggest that the doping of Ni element altered the electronic bandgap arrangement of In2S3, where the position of the conduction band is conducive to the activation of CO2 molecules. Moreover, the defect level resulting from Ni-doping not only facilitates the separation of photoexcited electron-hole pairs but also suppresses the recombination of electrons and holes. This study provides an available and reliable strategy for enhancing the photocatalytic CO2 reduction performance of related sulfide photocatalytic materials in future studies.

Na-mediated carbon nitride realizing CO2 photoreduction with selectivity modulation

The depressed directional separation of photogenerated carriers and weak CO2 adsorption/activation activity are the main factors hampering the development of artificial photosynthesis. Herein, Na ions are embedded in graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) to achieve directional migration of the photogenerated electrons to Na sites, while the electron-rich Na sites enhance CO2 adsorption and activation. Na/g-C3N4 (NaCN) shows improved photocatalytic reduction activity of CO2 to CO and CH4, and under simulated sunlight irradiation, the CO yield of NaCN synthesized by embedding Na at 550°C (NaCN-550) is 371.2 μmol g−1 h−1, which is 58.9 times more than that of the monomer g-C3N4. By means of theoretical calculations and experiments including in situ fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, the mechanism is investigated. This strategy which improves carrier separation and reduces the energy barrier at the same time is important to the development of artificial photosynthesis.

The construction of Cs3MoxSbyBr9/BiVO4 S-scheme heterojunction photocatalyst for efficient photocatalytic N2 fixation

Synergistic nitrogen (N2) reduction with water (H2O) oxidation is meaningful but challenging owing to the inertness of the N2 molecule and the sluggish kinetics of H2O oxidation. Herein, a simutaneous-promotion strategy of redox capacities is presented for constructing a lead-free Cs3Sb2Br9-based S-scheme heterojunction, by decorating Mo-functionalized Cs3Sb2Br9 nanocrystals (Cs3MoxSbyBr9) on BiVO4 nanosheet through an in-situ plane-to-point growth manner. The Mo-functionalization for Cs3Sb2Br9 enables the regulation of the d-band center position, greatly improving surface reaction kinetics for N2 reduction. Furthermore, the construction of the S-scheme heterojunction enhances the driving force for H2O oxidation and spatial charge separation of photocatalysts. As anticipated, the resultant Cs3MoxSbyBr9/BiVO4 exhibits an excellent photocatalytic N2 reduction activity under ambient atmosphere, achieving ammonia (NH3) production at a rate of 300 ± 5 μmol g−1 h−1 under simulated sunlight illumination (100 mW cm−2), which is nearly 20-fold higher than that of pristine Cs3Sb2Br9.

Highly-porous CuFe2O4@ZnFe2O4 yolk-shell heterostructure for photocatalytic reduction of nitrobenzene

Developing novel photocatalytic materials and underlying the charge separation mechanisms are keys for achieving excellent performances. However, currently reported photocatalysts suffer low charge separation efficiency and low stability during irradiation. In this work, highly-porous CuFe2O4@ZnFe2O4 yolk-shell heterostructure was prepared by a facile hydrothermal method. The characterization of transmission electron microscopy (TEM) indicates that the as prepared composite consists a core particle located within a well-defined shell with a clear gap between the two, forming a unique yolk-shell structure. The optimal sulfur-doped CuFe2O4@ZnFe2O4 yolk-shell heterostructure presents a photocurrent of 35.42 μA·cm−2, which is five times higher than undoped sample of 7.06 μA·cm−2. Photoelectrochemical method are used to analyze the behavior of photoinduced charges to reveal the structure-property relationship. The built-in electric field of heterojunctions effectively improves the separation of photoinduced charges, and the surface sulfur ions have an enrichment effect on photoinduced electrons. The yolk-shell heterostructure exhibits superior activity for photocatalytic reduction of nitrobenzene showing a selectivity of 99% and yield of 60.6%.

In-situ assembling novel N-Ti3C2/BiOClxBr1−x composites with enhanced photocatalytic degradation and nitrogen reduction activity

Herein, a collection of novel N-Ti3C2/BiOClxBr1−x composites are fabricated via a simple in-situ sonochemical process. Not only the preparation method for N-Ti3C2 but also the photocatalytic system of N-Ti3C2/BiOClxBr1−x are firstly developed. Multiple characterizations jointly demonstrate the successful fabrication of the composites. Compared to that of BiOClxBr1−x, the maximum improvements of 1.16, 1.25 and 1.26 folds are severally confirmed for the photocatalytic degradation of levofloxacin, Rhodamine B, and methylene blue over N-Ti3C2/BiOClxBr1−x composites. In addition, through radicals trapping tests, the primary active species in photocatalytic degradation process are verified to be O2−. Moreover, N-Ti3C2/BiOClxBr1−x composites also exhibit 1.18 and 1.14 times enhancements for NH3 production compared with that of BiOClxBr1−x with or without the presence of methanol, respectively. In addition, the maximum improvements of photo-current and photo-potential for BiOClxBr1−x are 1.29 and 1.86 folds with the introduction of N-Ti3C2, respectively. The enhanced photocatalytic activity of N-Ti3C2/BiOClxBr1−x composites is owing to the heightened light absorption, increased specific surface area, and accelerated separation of photoinduced carriers. Additionally, the stable photocatalytic properties of N-Ti3C2/BiOClxBr1−x are confirmed by three photocatalytic recycle tests on pollutant degradation and nitrogen reduction combined with X-ray diffraction patterns before and after three recycles. This study suggests that N-Ti3C2 is an efficient ornamentation for boosting photocatalytic activity ofBiOClxBr1−x, which can also be expanded as a promising modifier for other semiconductors.

Doping Ferrocene-Based Conjugated Microporous Polymers with 7,7,8,8-Tetracyanoquinodimethane for Efficient Photocatalytic CO2 Reduction.

The design and synthesis of organic photocatalysts remain a great challenge due to their strict structural constraints. However, this could be mitigated by achieving structural flexibility by constructing permanent porosity into the materials. Conjugated microporous polymers (CMPs) are an emerging class of porous materials with an amorphous, three-dimensional network structure, which makes it possible to integrate the elaborate functional groups to enhance photocatalytic performance. Here, we report the synthesis of a novel CMP, named TAPFc-TFPPy-CMP, constructed by 1,1'3,3'-tetra(4-aminophenyl)ferrocene (TAPFc) and 1,3,6,8-tetrakis(4-formylphenyl)pyrene (TFPPy) monomers. The integration of the p-type dopant 7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquinodimethane (TCNQ) into the TAPFc-TFPPy-CMP improved the light adsorption performance, leading to a decrease in the optical bandgap from 2.00 to 1.43 eV. The doped CMP (TCNQ@TAPFc-TFPPy-CMP) exhibited promising catalytic activity in photocatalytic CO2 reduction under visible light, yielding 546.8 μmol g-1 h-1 of CO with a selectivity of 96% and 5.2 μmol g-1 h-1 of CH4. This represented an 80% increase in the CO yield compared to the maternal TAPFc-TFPPy-CMP. The steady-state photoluminescence (PL) and fluorescence lifetime (FL) measurements reveal faster carrier separation and transport after the doping. This study provides guidance for the development of organic photocatalysts for the utilization of renewable energy.

Acid modification on ZnIn2S4 with sulfur vacancy for highly efficient photocatalytic reduction of Cr(VI)

Anion vacancies caused by acid treatment over photocatalysts have significant influences on photocatalytic processes. In this study, the ZnIn2S4 (denoted as ZIS) nanoflower samples were synthesized using a one-step hydrothermal process and then impregnated with different amounts of nitric acid solutions. The gathered samples were characterized using XRD, SEM, XPS, BET, and EPR, and their photocatalytic reduction activity of Cr(VI) was also studied. Owing to defect structures, the removal of Cr(VI) of sulfur-rich vacancies ZIS-NA-3 reached nearly 100% within 90 min under simulated solar light, which was about 3 times greater than that of the original ZIS. In summary, this study confirmed that nitric acid treatment could form a defect state on the surface of catalysts, enhancing the light absorption range and improving the electron-hole pair separation efficiency. Furthermore, the stability and recycling of the ZIS-NA-3 catalysts were evaluated. This work offered a simple surface modification technique for constructing high-activity photocatalysts so as to achieve the purpose of removal from polluted wastewater containing Cr(VI).

Fabrication of Cu-MOF-Derived Cu/CuxO/C Bifunctional Materials for Light and Dark Catalytic Properties.

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are self-assembled constitutive precursors and efficient self-sacrificial templates with metal ions/clusters and organic linkers from which multifunctional materials with carbon nanostructures can be derived. In this study, we synthesized a novel Cu-MOF with Cu(II) as the central metal ion through two ligands, N,N'-bis(pyridin-3-yl)terephthalamide (3-bpta) and fumaric acid (H2FA), which was used as a template for derivatizing carbon-based nanostructured materials of Cu and CuxO through doping with different materials (melamine, urea, and TiO2) in a simple and efficient one-step pyrolysis. The Cu/CuxO-1 catalyst possesses both dark-catalyzed degradation activity and photocatalytic reduction activity during water purification due to the hole-transfer ability between Cu+ and Cu2+ and its inhibition of electron-hole complexation. In the absence of light, force, and cocatalyst, it can also effectively remove azo dyes in water and effectively reduce Cr(VI) under the action of visible light; therefore, Cu/CuxO-1 can be used as a new type of bifunctional material for the removal of pollutants in water, which has a broad prospect.

Ferroelectric Polarization and Single-Atom Catalyst Synergistically Promoting CO2 Photoreduction of CuBiP2Se6.

Further improving the activity and selectivity of photocatalytic CO2 reduction remains a challenge. Herein, we propose a new strategy for synergistically promoting photocatalytic CO2 reduction by combining two-dimensional (2D) ferroelectric polarization and single-atom catalysis. Our calculations showed that the ferroelectric polarization of CuBiP2Se6 provides the internal driving force for the separation and migration of photogenerated carriers, which provides a prerequisite for enhancing the photocatalytic efficiency. In addition, the introduction of single Ag atoms can act as an electron reservoir to significantly modify the bonding configurations on the surface through proper static electron transfer, thus effectively promoting the adsorption and activation of CO2 molecules. More importantly, we found that switching the ferroelectric polarization can synergistically optimize the limiting potential as well as control the final products. This study provides a new approach for enhancing the catalytic activity and selectivity of photocatalytic CO2 reduction.

Facile synthesis of self-nitrogen-doped carbon spheres for high-efficient photocatalytic CO2 reduction to CO

In this work, self-nitrogen-doped carbon microsphere photocatalysts were prepared by hydrothermal and carbonation pyrolysis with first application in photocatalytic CO2 reduction. Coupled with relevant characterization, nitrogen-doped carbon microspheres were successfully prepared and the introduction of nitrogen significantly improved the photogenerated charge separation efficiency and CO2 photoreduction to CO activity, leading to the highest photocatalytic reduction activity with a CO yield of 185.71 μmol g−1 (9 h) under simulated sunlight irradiation. More importantly, its performance remains at about 98 % after ten consecutive cycle tests, indicating the excellent active stability of self-nitrogen-doped carbon spheres. Possible mechanisms for photocatalytic reduction and the role of nitrogen in photocatalytic adsorption and reduction processes are analyzed and proposed. The research provides novel strategies for the design of bifunctional catalysts that offer robust adsorption and efficient reduction, enabling the sustainable conversion of CO2.

Construction of a BiVO4/VS-MoS2 S-scheme heterojunction for efficient photocatalytic nitrogen fixation.

Photocatalytic nitrogen (N2) reduction to ammonia (NH3), adopting H2O as the electron source, suffers from low efficiency owing to the sluggish kinetics of N2 reduction and the requirement of a substantial thermodynamic driving force. Herein, we present a straightforward approach for the construction of an S-scheme heterojunction of BiVO4/VS-MoS2 to successfully achieve photocatalytic N2 fixation, which is manufactured by coupling an N2-activation component (VS-MoS2 nanosheet) and water-oxidation module (BiVO4 nanocrystal) through electrostatic self-assembly. The VS-MoS2 nanosheet, enriched with sulfur vacancies, plays a pivotal role in facilitating N2 adsorption and activation. Additionally, the construction of the S-scheme heterojunction enhances the driving force for water oxidation and improves charge separation. Under simulated sunlight irradiation (100 mW cm-2), BiVO4/VS-MoS2 exhibits efficient photocatalytic N2 reduction activity with H2O as the proton source, yielding NH3 at a rate of 132.8 μmol g-1 h-1, nearly 7 times higher than that of pure VS-MoS2. This study serves as a noteworthy example of efficient N2 reduction to NH3 under mild conditions.

Au Nanoparticle-Loaded UiO-66 Metal–Organic Framework for Efficient Photocatalytic N2 Fixation

In order to achieve efficient photocatalytic N2 reduction activity for ammonia synthesis, a photochemical strategy was used in this work. UiO-66 was prepared through the solvothermal method and further loaded with Au nanoparticles (Au NPs) onto the UiO-66 (Zr) framework. The experimental results verified that there were metal–support interactions between Au NPs and UiO-66; this could facilitate charge transfer among Au NPs and UiO-66, which was beneficial to enhance the photocatalytic activity. The best N2 fixation effect of Au/UiO-66 with a loading of 1.5 wt% was tested, with a photocatalytic yield of ammonia of 66.28 μmol g−1 h−1 while maintaining good stability. The present work provides a novel approach to enhancing photocatalytic N2 fixation activity by loading NPs onto UiO-66.

Photodeposition of highly dispersed MoS2 nanosheets on CdS nanorods with enhanced photocatalytic activity for reduction of p-nitroaniline to p-phenylenediamine

So far, the significant effect of different assembly methods on the microstructures and photocatalytic properties of MoS2/CdS nanocomposite photocatalysts has rarely been reported. In the study, single-crystalline CdS nanorods (NRs) were prepared by a solvothermal method. MoS2 cocatalyst was decorated on the CdS NRs to obtain MoS2/CdS-PD and MoS2/CdS-HT photocatalysts by an in situ photodeposition (PD) technique and a hydrothermal (HT) method, respectively. Under visible light irradiation, the photocatalytic activity of MoS2/CdS-PD and MoS2/CdS-HT for reduction of p-nitroaniline (p-NA) to p-phenylenediamine (p-PDA) was comparatively studied. Results indicate: i) When MoS2 was attached on CdS NRs by the in situ PD, ultrathin MoS2 nanosheets could be uniformly and tightly tethered to CdS NRs to form core-shell MoS2/CdS-PD composite, whereas MoS2 nanosheets were aggregated to form stacked multilayered structure and loosely coupled to CdS NRs to produce non-core-shell MoS2/CdS-HT by the HT method. ii) MoS2/CdS-PD exhibits higher photocatalytic efficiency for p-NA reduction than MoS2/CdS-HT, which can be ascribed to the fact that the interfacial contact between MoS2 and CdS is more intimate and the electron transfer from CdS to MoS2 is more efficient in MoS2/CdS-PD than that in MoS2/CdS-HT.

Metal-alcohol coordination promoted reduction of bismuth (III) in bismuth-based semiconductors for enhanced photocatalytic activity

Metal ion doping is an extensively researched method to enhance photocatalytic activity of bismuth-based semiconductors, but function of the metal ions need be further clarified. Herein, metal-alcohol coordination was evidenced to promote reduction of BiIII in Bi-based semiconductors (e.g., Bi2MoO6 hierarchical microspheres) to generated oxygen vacancies (Ovs) and Bi metal (Bi0). Ovs and Bi0, rather than widely recognized doping metal ions, play a key role for remarkable enhancement of photocatalytic activity of Bi2MoO6, for example of ∼16-fold higher photocatalytic nitrogen reduction activity, which arises from that the Ovs and Bi0 can enhance photoexcited charge separation and work as surface active sites. The Ovs possess much greater efficacy than the Bi0. Formation of Bi0 also induces prominent morphological variation of the microspheres. This work discloses an interesting but neglected phenomenon in alcohothermal synthesis of “metal-doped” Bi-based semiconductors and aims at drawing high attention of relevant researchers.

1D/2D Rod-sheet Shape Bi2S3 Photocatalyst for Photocatalytic Reduction Cr(VI) under Visible Light

The crystal structure and morphology of photocatalysts play a crucial role in determining their photocatalytic performance. In this study, we synthesized and investigated 1D/2D Bi2S3 as a potential visible-light-activated photocatalyst for the reduction of aqueous Cr(VI). The 1D/2D Bi2S3 was synthesized using hydrothermal synthesis technique by heating Bi2(H2O)2(SO4)2(OH)2 precursor and sodium sulfide at 190 ℃ for 24 h, where the molar ratio of Bi to S elements in the reaction reagents was changed from 1:6 to 2:3. The structure, composition, and optoelectronic properties of the prepared Bi2S3 were characterized using X-ray diffraction, UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectra, field emission scanning electron microscopy, electrochemical impedance spectra, and transient photocurrent. It is shown that the prepared orthorhombic Bi2S3 has full-spectrum photoresponsivity. Bi2S3-B with 1D/2D heterogeneous structure exhibits the lowest charge carrier transport resistance, and its photocurrent intensity is nearly twice that of Bi2S3-C. It demonstrates the highest photocatalytic activity in visible-light photocatalytic reduction of aqueous Cr(VI), with a reduction rate of 54.5% after 140 minutes of light exposure. According to the bandgap of Bi2S3 and radical scavenger experiments, a reaction mechanism for the photocatalytic reduction of Cr(VI) by Bi2S3 was proposed. Furthermore, the results highlight the economic and environmentally friendly nature of the hydrothermal synthesis method using homemade precursors, which allows for the regulation of Bi2S3 morphology and the enhancement of its visible photocatalytic activity. Band structure engineering of Pd, Rh, Cu-Modified SrMoO4 for enhanced activity and selectivity in photocatalytic CO2 reduction to CH4

Photocatalytic CO2 reduction holds promise as a strategy to mitigate the energy crisis and greenhouse effects. However, devising cost-effective photocatalysts capable of efficiently and selectively converting CO2 to CH4 remains challenging. This study presents the synthesis of Pd, Rh, and Cu-modified SrMoO4 photocatalysts via a one-step solvothermal method. Our findings demonstrate increased CH4 activity and controlled selectivity through the modification with Pd, Rh, or Cu ions. It was determined that Pd, Rh, or Cu ions modified the SrMoO4 surface as -O-Pd-O-, -O-Rh-O-, or -O-Cu–O- species, increasing the adsorption sites and active regions on the catalyst surface. Moreover, these introduced -O-Pd-O-, -O-Rh-O-, or -O-Cu–O- species' energy level enhances visible light absorption and photogenerated charge carrier separation, and regulates the band structure for better alignment with water oxidation potential. This leads to greater water oxidation half-reaction efficiency and increased H+ generation in photocatalytic CO2 reduction. Consequently, more protons (H+) participate in CO2 photocatalytic reduction, thus promoting CH4 production and selectivity. These insights may guide the design of highly-selective photocatalysts for effective CO2 photoreduction through bandgap engineering strategies.

Direct S-scheme 0D/2D photocatalyst of CsPbBr3 quantum dots/BiVO4 nanosheets for efficient CO2 photoreduction

The development of novel, efficient and stable catalysts for CO2 photoreduction is highly anticipated. In this work, a series of 0D/2D CsPbBr3/BiVO4 composites were prepared by simple self-assembly of 0D CsPbBr3 quantum dots and 2D BiVO4 nanosheets. It was discovered that the photocatalytic CO2 reduction activities of as-prepared CsPbBr3/BiVO4 catalysts were greatly improved when exposed to visible light. For the optimal sample, the average CO production could achieve 41.02 μmol·g−1·h−1, and the photocatalytic performance is 7 and 4 times that of original BiVO4 and CsPbBr3, respectively. Additionally, the sample exhibited high stability in the cycle test. According to the comprehensive characterization test and analysis results, the enhanced CO2 photoreduction performances are attributed to the composites' increased light absorption capacity and noticeably accelerated charge carrier separation and transfer efficiency. The special S-scheme photocatalytic mechanism of CsPbBr3/BiVO4 hybrids is proposed and discussed in detail on the basis of the electron spin resonance results and the energy band structure theory. This work provides new opportunities for designing S-scheme heterojunctions based on lead halide perovskite with high photocatalytic activity.
