The reduction of Ni2+ in aqueous ammonia solution has been investigated. Potentiostatic i-t transients suggest that Ni(NH3)22+ is the species which is reduced in the electrochemical reaction. A Tafel slope of 60 mV is observed. The limiting behaviour can be explained in terms of the complexes in solution. Some discussion of the theory of preceding chemical reactions is given.
