Stripwound cold-forging tools — A technical and economical alternative

During the last five years the industrial application of stripwound cold-forging tools has had its real break through. The basic advantages of stripwound prestressed containers — higher pressure loadability and smaller dimensions — are today fully utilized in the manufacture of high quality cold forgings with a higher degree of deformation and/or more complex features. Die inserts prestressed by stripwound prestressed containers show a 2–10 times increase in die life, resulting in reduced tooling costs.
