A paper transport device using a flat plate piezoelectric vibrator, which consists of a rectangular metal plate and a piezoelectric ceramic plate, was studied. Simultaneous oscillation of the vibrator in longitudinal and bending modes was calculated by a finite element analysis. And it was found that the paper transport device optimized experimentally showed good performance. Obtained paper transport speed under load free and maximum restraining force were 53 cm/s and 0.27 kgf, respectively.
