NEW TERRITORIAL COMMUNITIES OF RECREATIONAL SPECIALIZATION IN UKRAINE. PREREQUISITES AND REQUIREMENTS FOR ARCHITECTURAL-SPATIAL ORGANIZATION

Territorial development of settlements is important not only because of its special role in the socio-economic life of the state. Its importance is also connected with the fulfillment of Ukraine’s commitments to harmonize the current legislation and quality of life standards with the requirements of the EU, cooperation with which remains one of the priorities of our country’s European integration. The need for a modern comprehensive reassessment of the role of settlements in general in supporting the economic development of the region is due to the significant natural, resource-production, labor and other available potentials of the settlement environment. Ternopil region has a huge recreational potential, it is: natural resources, monuments of history and architecture, pilgrimage centers. All this attracts tourists, not only from Ukraine but also from abroad. The use of rich recreational resources will allow to build resorts, rest homes, tourist bases in Ternopil region, which in a short period of time can raise the economy of the region, welfare, recreation culture and improve the process and quality of population health recovery. Increasing the capacity of tourist and recreational infrastructure by attracting domestic and foreign investment is one of the priority areas of socio-economic and cultural development of Ternopil region in recent years. Increasing the share of inbound and domestic tourism, sightseeing should be an effective tool for economic growth of the region and increase its prestige in domestic and international tourism markets. The relationship between serious leisure and recreation specialization in sportspeople with and without physical disabilities

This study analyzes whether the relationship between serious leisure and recreation specialization differs for federated sportspeople with and without physical disabilities. Sportspeople with and without physical disabilities in the Basque Country (Spain) (n = 370) completed a questionnaire assessing the component dimensions of two constructs, “serious leisure” and “recreation specialization”. The Serious Leisure Inventory and Measure (SLIM) and the Recreation Specialization Index (RSI) were used in the analysis. Results showed an association between these concepts in competitive sports in both samples. However, the magnitudes of association between the total of both concepts were higher in the group with physical disabilities. Regarding perceptions about their sports practice, the group without physical disabilities showed higher levels of specialization but there were no substantial differences between their levels of serious leisure participation. In conclusion, seriousness and specialization were found to be key issues for sportspeople's practice of leisure, regardless of their physical condition.

The Relationships between Recreation Specialization in Traditional Korean Dance and Happiness for Female Adults

Engagement in leisure activities is one of the critical variables in increasing well-being and happiness. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationships between recreation specialization in traditional Korean dance and happiness for female adults. Methods/Statistical analysis: A total of 256 female adults who live in a metropolitan area in South Korea voluntarily participated in this study. This study used a convenience sampling technique. Findings: Findings indicated that recreation specialization are positively related to happiness. More specifically, the centrality to lifestyle and behavioral consistency of recreation specialization predicted happiness. Improvements/Applications: Further research is needed to examine a possible relationship between other psychological benefits and specialization.

МЕТОДОЛОГІЧНІ ЗАСАДИ КЛАСИФІКАЦІЇ ТЕРИТОРІЙ ЗА ПОКАЗНИКАМИ РЕКРЕАЦІЙНОГО ПРИРОДОКОРИСТУВАННЯ

The article presents theoretical and methodological principles of researching the system of recreational nature resources use on different areas. Definition of the system, assessment of the resources, the territories’ recreational potential and their following differentiation are the paper’s tasks. Several academician and scientific methods have been applied: the structural analysis (composition of recreational resources), generalization (assessment of the industry’s status), mathematical (evaluation of the territories’ recreational potential), statistical analysis (classification of the territories by economic indicators), grouping the territories, and synthesis (elaboration of the multilevel algorithm of their differentiation). Recreational natural resources use is the part of the general system of the nature use. It is broader term than the recreational industry, since it includes protection and restoration of the resources. The multiplicative economic effect and joint use of recreational resources with other users are key features of the industry. Significant discrepancy between the scope of available recreational resources and intensity of their use are inherent for all Ukraine’s regions. The multilevel algorithm of the complex classification of the territories according to models of recreational nature use is to differentiate territories by type of settlements (urban, rural, intermediate), their proximity to urban centres (urbanized and peripheral), recreational potential (high, medium, low), and economic efficiency of industry (effective, moderately effective, inefficient). Accordingly three types of a territory’s development strategy have been identified: recreational specialization, major recreational industry, and internal recreations. The novelty of the research are the approach to determine essence, structure and functions of the system of recreational nature use, the set of criteria and indicators to evaluate recreational potential of the regions, and multilevel algorithm to classify territories and define models of their recreational use.

근거이론을 통한 사회인야구동호인들의 레크리에이션 전문화과정 분석

본 연구의 목적은 근거이론을 통해 사회인야구동호인들의 레크리에이션 전문화과정을 분석하는 데 있다. 본 연구의 연구 참여자는 수도권 사회인야구리그에서 10년 이상 활동한 10명의 사회인야구동호인으로 선정하였다. 심층면담 이후 개방코딩, 축코딩 및 선택코딩을 통해 총 43개의 개념어를 도출하였고, 이를 바탕으로 내재적 동기, 대인적인 동기, 사회인야구 인프라의 확장, 주요타자의 권유, 정서적 만족, 실력의 향상, 대인관계의 확장, 내재적인 제약, 대인적인 제약, 경제적 제약, 실력 향상을 위한 노력, 참여에 대한 접근성 개선, 비용절감의 노력, 사회인야구선수로 변모 및 참여의 확대 및 다양화 등 15개의 하위범주를 구성했다. 또한 이를 사회인야구의 참여 동기, 사회인야구의 보편화, 삶의 활력소, 참여에 대한 제약, 지속적인 참여를 위한 노력 및 전문화된 사회인야구선수라는 6개의 상위범주로 도출하였다. 즉, 사회인야구동호인들은 참여 동기의 인과적 조건과 사회인야구 인프라 확장이라는 상황적 맥락 속에 참여를 한 후 삶의 활력소라는 중심현상을 통해 참여에 대한 제약을 극복하고, 지속적인 참여를 위한 노력 속에 전문화된 사회인야구선수로 거듭나는 것으로 나타났다.

Testing a continuous measure of recreation specialization among birdwatchers

ABSTRACT Recreation specialization is a framework that can be used to explain the variation among outdoor recreationists’ preferences, attitudes, and behaviors. Recreation specialization has been operationalized using several approaches, including summative indices, cluster analysis, and self-classification categorical measures. Although these approaches measure the multiple dimensions of the framework, they may not reflect the relative contribution of the dimensions to individuals’ degree of engagement. We illustrate an approach that uses second-order confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) factor scores as weights to determine a person’s degree of recreation specialization and compares the CFA-based results to those derived from cluster analysis. This approach permits the use of a broader set of statistical tests when compared to categorical specialization measures and provides information about the distribution of responses. Data were collected from an online survey of eBird registrants from the United States.

Recreation Specialization for Runners And Event Attachment

Running is one of the most popular activities in the world. Runners' attitudes and behaviors vary depending on their running style. This study aims to construct different measures of running specialization based on the theory of specialization. This study also tests a runner's stage of specialization segmentation based on recreation specialization and examines the predictive relationship between a runner's specialization and event attachment. Three groups of sampling data assess the performance of diverse specialization measures for running in three marathon events. First, two surveys were conducted with marathon participants to assess the performance of diverse specialization measures for runners. Second, the third dataset was used to examine the relationship between a runner's recreation specialization and event attachment.<br/> The study results showed that the 15 measures of specialization showed a good fit to the data. Our research showed how runners' recreation specialization is connected to their event attachment. In addition, this study suggested event management for subdivisions of runners. Its practical implication is that recreation specialization for running can help us understand event attachment.

Does recreation specialization affect birders’ travel intention?

ABSTRACT Using data from a survey of Italian birdwatchers, we examined whether recreation specialization affects birders’ travel intention through a two-dimensional framework based on the “behavior” and “skills, knowledge, and commitment” constructs. The model was estimated through a partial least squares structural equation “spread” model. We implemented a second-stage analysis, using a seemingly unrelated regression (SURE) model to identify which birder characteristics, attitudes, and preferences significantly affected the path scores. The findings demonstrated a significant and positive relationship between recreation specialization and birders’ travel intention, and offer evidence that birders’ behavior and skills, knowledge, and commitment were statistically significant lower hierarchical order constructs of recreation specialization. The intensity of these connections varied according to the birder’s profile, the source of information used to choose the destination site and the reasons behind the choice of site for birdwatching.

A Study of Cyclists, Participation Motivation, Serious Leisure and Recreational Specialization

The purpose of this study is to analyze the structural relationship among cyclists’ participation motivation; serious leisure and recreational specialization. In this study, cyclists were used as the research object, non-random sampling method was used, and a total of 237 effective questionnaires were collected. After descriptive statistics and partial least squares (PLS) statistics analysis, the results show that: the cyclists’ participation motivation is higher, their characteristics of serious leisure are more obvious, and the recreational specialization also higher; and cyclists have characteristics of serious leisure their recreational specialization is also higher. In addition, the study also confirms that serious leisure has a mediate effect on recreational specialization.

Research of the socio-economic condition of the tourist industry in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic

The presence of unique natural complexes and landscapes in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, creating the prerequisites for the development of the hospitality and tourism industry. A study of the current state and the competitive advantages of the region for the development of the tourism industry in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic have been identified. The study found that on the territory of the Republic there are currently 11 zones of potential recreational specialization with different levels of development, including the Nalchik health resort complex, the Prielbrusye mountain recreation complex, and the Jyly – health-improving complexes Su”, “Aushiger”, “Tambukan”, climbing complex “Bezengi”, excursion-tourist complexes “Chegem waterfalls”, “Blue Lakes”, “Valley of Narzanov”, archaeological and tourist complexes» Upper Balkaria” and “Upper Chegem”. There are 14 different types of mineral springs in the republic: iodine-bromine, nitrogen-thermal, hydrogen sulfide, sodium bicarbonate, and bromine compounds. In the tourist complex of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic in 2019, there is a positive trend in the number of beds, the number of persons accommodated, the number of tourist companies and the number of persons rested, and the number of visits to museums and theaters. Despite the positive dynamics of these indicators, there are negative aspects, characterized by a decrease in the number of children who had a rest in health camps for children, the number of Russian tourists sent by CBD travel agencies in the Russian Federation and in foreign tours, an imbalance between supply and demand (demand exceeds supply). The obtained results reveal an understanding of specific activities that ensure the economic growth of the tourism industry and the competitive advantages of the region. The results of the study can be applied in developing trends in the development of the tourism industry in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, in educational processes and in the tourism sector.

RESORT AND RECREATIONAL POTENTIAL AS A FACTOR OF ECONOMIC DIVERSIFICATION IN RURAL AREAS OF THE PERM REGION

Rural areas are an important strategic resource for the development of resort and recreational specialization of the Perm region. Most health resorts in the region are located in environmentally friendly areas, which allows you to develop a value proposition for different groups of consumers. The study conducted by the author indicates a growing demand for medical and health services of enterprises of the sanatorium complex. The article presents the characteristics of the resort and recreational potential of the Perm region, and identifies trends in consumer demand for medical and health services of enterprises of the sanatorium complex. A system of measures to diversify the region's economy based on optimizing the use of the resort and recreational potential of rural areas is proposed.

Creation of Territorial Tourism and Recreational Clusters as a Factor of Increasing the Efficiency of Land Management in Rural Areas

The article presents approaches to clustering of recreation and tourism facilities. The author sets the problem of sustainable development of rural areas which do not have agricultural specialization. Such territories include areas with the tourist and recreational potential. In these areas, agriculture is not developed due to its natural peculiarities, though they belong to rural areas. There, the standard of living is lower than in the areas with developed agricultural production. Rural areas with the tourist and recreational potential, as a rule, have land resources related to specially protected natural areas or are in close proximity to them which complicates the management process as applying generally accepted management methods to such specific areas does not give the desired effect. The author proposes to apply the elements of cluster policy in order to improve the efficiency of land management in such rural areas. The researcher analyzes Mostovsky district of Krasnodar Krai as the most striking example of a rural area with the tourist and recreational specialization. The creation of territorial tourist and recreational clusters was carried out in several steps. The property items were selected with the use of expert analysis. They are land plots for recreation and tourism facilities that meet the requirements. Three large groups of sites were created to simplify data processing. Further, the enlarged groups were divided into 12 sectors by the expert and graphical methods. This method is very approximate and does not give serious results. The author proposes to apply the mathematical methods for more accurate clustering. The author uses the Euclidean distance method and the “nested spheres method” resulting in the formation of three territorial tourism and recreation clusters of the district. The article describes the main directions of using the results of the suggested clustering methodology which will be the basis for making optimal management decisions to improve the land use efficiency in rural areas.

Specialization versus diversification in the event portfolios of amateur athletes

ABSTRACT This study explores the personal event portfolios of amateur athletes, differentiating between those who pursue a specialized career within one sport and those who diversify within multiple sports. The impetus for this paper was the observation made in previously published research that many sport-event tourists participate in multiple sports. The twin objectives of the study are to better understand highly involved participants and to draw implications that could contribute to the events’ and the country's competitiveness in sport event tourism. The study also addresses the question of whether or not these portfolio choices emerge as involvement increases – in other words, do highly involved amateur athletes tend to specialize in one sport, as suggest by recreation specialization theory? A total of 6691 participants were surveyed online in five events (cross-country run, Nordic ski, half-marathon run, open-water swim, and road cycling), out of which 2329 were identified as pursuing a portfolio strategy. The major contributions of this paper include identification of a large number of significant differences between “specialized” and “diversified” portfolios. Planning and marketing implications that can potentially enhance the attractiveness of individual and collectively marketed events are also discussed.

Рекреационно-геоморфологическая оценка и картографирование модельного полигона "Сарма" на Байкале

The terrain of the western coast of Lake Baikal is characterized by morphological and genetic diversity. The major types of landforms are represented by gorsts and grabens, which are specific to rift-type orogenic belts. The neotectonic movements and exogenous relief-formation processes are developed on the geological basis represented by the oldest rocks and tectonic structures of the Earth's crust of Archean age. In the Priolkhonye region, there is a unique combination of foothill plains and mountain structures of the Primorsky ridge along the fault, expressed in the terrain in the form of extended rectilinear steep ledges with traces of seismic processes. The above-mentioned features of the terrain of the western coast of Lake Baikal allow us to consider the terrain as an important recreational resource and a factor of tourism development. The different types of landforms are characterized by a certain recreational specialization, have an impact on the aesthetic attractiveness of the territory and the possibility of emerging of geomorphological risks and dangers for tourism. A comprehensive study of the terrain within the research and training ground "Sarma", located on the western coast of Lake Baikal, was carried out. Terrain assessment and geomorphological mapping are carried out on a landscape basis using a regional-typological approach, which makes it possible to take into account individual and typical geomorphological features of the territory. This approach makes it possible to give a comprehensive description of the recreational and geomorphological potential of the territory, which is necessary for evidence-informed decisions making in the sustainable tourism development.

The basin-landscape approach to the protection and condition optimization of the lakes of the national parks

The essence of the basin-landscape approach to the protection of the lakes of the national parks as an actual direction of research, which is formed at the junction of nature protection landscaping, hydrology and geoecology has been substantiated. The research algorithm, peculiarities of analysis and assessment of the status of the lake-basin system (LBS) have been found out, the factors that worsen the geo-ecological state in the lake and basin subsystems have been revealed, optimization measures in the objects of the nature reserve fund located within the natural reserve have been substantiated. The purpose of the study is to determine the parameters of the structure of lake-basin landscapes (on the example of Zasvitske lake, Nobel National Natural Park, Ukraine), liminary and landscape-metric indicators of the geo-ecological status of the LBS and the factors influencing it as an information and analytical basis for ensuring the protection and management of the LBS located in nature conservation area. The materials of the study were the long-term field landscape-limnological and geo-ecological studies of the authors within the Polesia region of Ukraine and, in particular, the LBS of the Nobel National Nature Park. The research methodology was based on complex physical-geographical methods, hydrological profiling and creation of bathymetric models of reservoirs, hydrochemical diagnostics of water masses of the lakes, geochemical analyses of bottom sediments, landscape mapping using GIS-technologies. The results of geo-ecological (landscape-ecological) researches of the lake-basin system of Zasvitske lake have been presented, in particular, original profiles and bathymetric model of the reservoir, landscape maps of the aqual complex and the lake catchment, limno- and landscape characteristics of the LBS have been shown. Considering the level of anthropogenic transformations of the LBS and the presence of a high proportion of ecologically-stabilizing lands (forests, reservoirs of natural origin), the level of sustainability of the LBS is estimated as high. An assessment of the hydrological characteristics of the reservoir and hydrochemical characteristics allows to attribute this lake to an oligotrophic type. The results of a comprehensive analysis of the geo-ecological parameters of the state of Zasvitske lake and its landscape-limnological functioning indicate the expediency of recreational specialization of nature management in the Nobel National Park, that includes this lake. Scientific novelty. The application of proposed landscape-basin approach and the algorithm of the LBS study increase the possibilities of functional zoning of national parks with high index of lakes, as well as solving the problems of nature protection and optimization of nature management. Practical importance. The created electronic landscape maps and the base of limnometric parameters can be used as reference documents for the certification and cadastral evaluation of the transboundary protected areas of Ramsar type, geo-ecological monitoring and an integrated management of lakes by the basin approach in conditions of intense climate change.
