Ukrainian Christmas traditions in Kazakhstan and Canada: folklore, folkorism, and preserving heritage

ABSTRACT Folklore consists of songs, stories, and ritual acts created by the people themselves. It is the most organic form of cultural expression. In this period when nations and their cultures are under attack, both folklorists and politicians look to folklore as a means of cultural preservation. Folklorists have recently started distinguishing folklore and heritage. Heritage comes to be emblematic of a culture and is used to assert cultural uniqueness. Heritage can be registered with UNESCO and become the property of one nation. It is rigid and controlled by elites. The authors’ work with Ukrainian folklore in Kazakhstan and Canada shows that true folklore, that which is created by people and changes to fit their lived circumstances, is the real proof of cultural vitality. The Christmas traditions discussed here show that folklore can be different and still express and maintain cultural vitality.

Comparison Analysis for Implementation Time of Column Formwork Using Three Formwork Methods in a Building Project at Bandung Province

The construction world, especially in modern times, technological innovations are developing rapidly. One of these innovations is formwork. The real proof of its development is the formwork method, which has an increasing number of types. This study describes the time comparison between the three formwork methods consisting of conventional, semi-system, and full system formwork for column work on the UPI Bandung multi-storey building project. The research method that has been done is quantitative. The analysis is carried out by calculating the volume of work, identifying the coefficient of workers from journals and articles, calculating labour productivity and then the duration of work for each formwork method can be calculated. The results obtained from this study regards the duration of work on each formwork method column in each building studied. In conclusion, the duration of column work with the conventional formwork method has the longest duration of work, followed by the semi system method and the full system method.

Vulnerability and Death as Markers of Spiritual Intelligence

In this paper I argue that recent reports of AI, and the reactions of people working in AI, together with the possibility of a panpsychist model of intelligence or mentality, make it very difficult to know convincingly what is going on inside AI, and whether or not it has, or might have, subjectivity, inwardness, intelligence, and agency. This problem mirrors, but is different from, the comparison between humans and animals. I argue that spiritual intelligence must assume, at the least, the presence of this inwardness, even though we only have suspicions but no real proof for machines or for ourselves, and also that our understanding of imago Dei is relevant. I compare this conversation with that around animals and end by examining the contribution of vulnerability and death in relational and functional understandings of imago Dei. I argue that these are essential components in the human development and expression of spiritual intelligence, and how this is so very different from anything made by artificial means, which is always functionally immortal.

Experimental evaluation of a latency-aware routing and spectrum assignment mechanism based on deep reinforcement learning

The introduction of futuristic and challenging use cases of 5G and 6G communications will demand strict requirements in terms of high bandwidth and low latency. Optical backbone networks need to tackle these new network scenarios by offering highly efficient, flexible, and scalable technologies and solutions. In this context, elastic optical networks (EONs) have been recognized as a promising technological transport infrastructure for the future Internet since they can manage the optical spectrum with enhanced flexibility and efficiency. The service provisioning in EONs is a challenging issue to tackle since the routing and spectrum assignment (RSA) is characterized by a high degree of complexity. This work presents an approach for RSA in EONs leveraging the advantages of deep reinforcement learning (DRL) solutions. The devised approach jointly considers the constraints imposed by the optical technologies and the demanded connectivity service requirements (i.e., guaranteed bandwidth and maximum end-to-end latency) when computing and selecting the optical path and spectral resources. We first evaluate our approach through simulation experiments considering two reference network topologies, demonstrating its effectiveness in reducing the bandwidth blocking ratio, the path computation time, and the number of rejected connectivity services requiring lower latencies when compared to a baseline k-shortest path routing and first-fit spectrum allocation algorithm. Then, the trained DRL agent is integrated within a real proof of concept to attain an ML-assisted SDN control plane in the CTTC ADRENALINE testbed. The attained performance improvements highlight the potential benefits brought by using DRL mechanisms and its feasible integration within production EON transport infrastructures.

The focus of this paper is to explain agape love through the story of the passion of Jesus in Gethsemane. Matthew 26:36-46 tells of Jesus prayer in Gethsemane as a model for building agape love. The methodology used in this research is a literature study to explore the theological reflections on Matthew 26:36-46 and its relation to the love of Peter and Judas. The passion story of Jesus shows the journey of eros love to agape love. The scheme of the triple prayer in Gethsemane shows the transformation of Jesus love. At the last point, Jesus was able to let go of everything and surrender to the will of the Father. This is the real proof of agape love, namely total obedience and self-sacrifice. This agape love is what Jesus passed on to Peter and Judas. Both have free will to choose, Peter chose to die for faith in Christ while Judas chose to despair and commit suicide. Peter was able to achieve agape love while Judas was entangled in eros love. The story of Peter and Judas becomes the foundation for the faithful to live love more deeply. Human life is a journey of love, namely from eros love to agape love which is Jesus himself.

A matter of fact, 21st century education requires a gradual shift in curriculum construction focusing on the transferable competencies that learners need to develop in instructional settings. Communication is the real proof of an English competency. In today’s knowledge–based, types of skills and competencies that students need to gain are different from in the past. Emphasizing the communicative competence is one of the most influential developments in language education. The implementation of communicative activities in EFL/ESL classroom prepares learners to use English in the world beyond based on their own needs, interests and opportunities. This article was aimed to analyze of the implementation of Communicative Approach (CA) in Teaching English under Kurikulum Merdeka. The data was collected from various journals of teaching English and articles online in internet The results have shown that Communicative Approach (CA) in Teaching English especially in the Speaking lesson is compatible and promising.

Wybrane kryminalistyczne aspekty okazania

In the article the author deals with several significant items, and especially with the practical ones, pertinent to conducting an act in connection with legal proceedings and criminalistics – viz. presentation. He advocates the idea of endowing this institution with features of an independent act of legal procedure. Moreover, he persuades that in justified cases, the result of presentation may constitute the only evidence basis which enables calling a perpetrator of an offence [crime] to penal responsibility. An essential value added of the text is an analysis of the so-called operational presentation and an attempt to demonstrate there are some legal instruments allowing one to acknowledge that the result of such an operational action constitutes a real proof which may be included in the set of evidence in criminal proceedings. The author persuades that an operational presentation – if conducted correctly in view of tactics and provided that it is documented – may become a base for recognizing its results as a proof; in consequence, the fundamental principle of this action – viz. its uniqueness – will not be infringed. Parallel faceted imaging in radio interferometry via proximal splitting (Faceted HyperSARA) – II. Code and real data proof of concept

ABSTRACT In a companion paper, a faceted wideband imaging technique for radio interferometry, dubbed Faceted HyperSARA, has been introduced and validated on synthetic data. Building on the recent HyperSARA approach, Faceted HyperSARA leverages the splitting functionality inherent to the underlying primal-dual forward-backward algorithm to decompose the image reconstruction over multiple spatio-spectral facets. The approach allows complex regularization to be injected into the imaging process while providing additional parallelization flexibility compared to HyperSARA. This paper introduces new algorithm functionalities to address real data sets, implemented as part of a fully fledged matlab imaging library made available on GitHub. A large-scale proof of concept is proposed to validate Faceted HyperSARA in a new data and parameter scale regime, compared to the state of the art. The reconstruction of a 15 GB wideband image of Cyg A from 7.4 GB of Very Large Array data is considered, utilizing 1440 CPU cores on a high-performance computing system for about 9 h. The conducted experiments illustrate the reconstruction performance of the proposed approach on real data, exploiting new functionalities to leverage known direction-dependent effects, for an accurate model of the measurement operator, and an effective noise level accounting for imperfect calibration. They also demonstrate that, when combined with a further dimensionality reduction functionality, Faceted HyperSARA enables the recovery of a 3.6 GB image of Cyg A from the same data using only 91 CPU cores for 39 h. In this setting, the proposed approach is shown to provide a superior reconstruction quality compared to the state-of-the-art wideband clean-based algorithm of the wsclean software.

Interactions between the Caspian Sea size (level) and atmospheric circulation

AbstractResults from idealized model simulations (a relationship between Caspian Sea level [CSL] with its change of the Caspian Sea [CS] size and CS surface temperature [SST]) are validated and connections are explained. Energy budgets for CS water using proxy observational data (ERA5) are used, especially for the comparison of 1979 and 1995, the two extreme values of the CSL. In 1995, when CSL reached a maximum, there were many El Niño events. Investigations on the effects of ENSO on the position of the jet stream over the CS had previously been shown. A jet stream requires a region of baroclinicity beneath it, usually associated with precipitation and cloud cover. This leads to an increase in CSL. A possible forcing of El Niño events by the CS size was found in recent idealized model simulations. Evidence of this is also documented here in analysis of observational data. The size of the CS could have an impact on the occurrence of El Niño events that affect atmospheric circulation. There is much evidence of such a relationship in the observed atmosphere. Real proof is extremely difficult to obtain, only one historical event provides further evidence for such a connection.

Artificial Intelligence-Assisted Diagnosis for Early Intervention Patients

The use of artificial intelligence to aid decision making is widely adopted today. Its application is found in different areas, among which the medical one is the most disruptive. However, there are few or no applications in Early Care that aid in the diagnosis and automatic assignment of therapy processes for children to help these centers. The objective of this work is to make a first approach to the problem and carry out a real proof of concept that demonstrates that this type of system can be useful in Early Care where the diagnosis and subsequent treatment must be determined by a multidisciplinary team. To measure the quality of the use of this type of technology, different machine learning techniques will be used on a real data set provided by the San Juan de Dios Hospital. This study will allow us to analyze the behavior of these techniques compared to traditional diagnosis. To make this comparison, there will be a qualified point of view in the field of children diagnosis.

The contribution of Amir Ali Sher Nawayi and Khushal khan Khatak in relation to nation-building: A comparative study

The distance between Amir Ali Sher Nawayi and Khoshal Khan Khattak is about two centuries. In the realm of poem, politics, and civil activities both of these two personalities have joint aspects which have been recognized by the eastern cultures. They have involved and connected poems, societies, and have religious, cultural and literature values in the community. Their speeches themes which are joint and mutual are the main components of eastern culture understanding and nurturing the nation-building concepts. For instance, justice, equality, humanity, confidence, taste, etiquette, spirituality, commitment and humanitarianism. These are the main components on which nations are connected through politics, culture, and art as Amir Ali Shir Nawayi, Khoshal Khattak and other poets have done. It is clearly understood that our languages and cultures are connected and cannot be disconnected. As per linguistic, the languages spoken in this region, are connected to each other at some extent. This connection causes to understand and learn these languages easily. Moreover, preservation of culture, religion, and politics connect nations and state their identity. Common culture, and especially folkloric values preserve the connection between different nations and they consider each nation as their own. For example, we can say ‘storytelling’. If an Uzbeki Story is read or heard by any of the Pashtoon or Tajik, so, he will see him/herself in it. This is the real picture and proof of unity among the nations. The advocacy and struggle of Amir Ali Sher Nawayi and Khoshal Khan Khattak reminds us that these nations are not torn, nor spate, but ONE. They have one wish and one common objective. Their wish is serving human’s growing and developing, unity among nations and unity concepts. Their objective is unity and making one united nation. Geographical territory is the bases for nation-building. Afghanistan is the place where it is the home of all nations, a resort of economic resources, businesses, joint cultures, and nation-building.

NEURONAL SYNCYTIA IN THE ENTERIC NERVOUS SYSTEM OF THE FELIS CATUS

Syncytial connections between neurites were found using electron microscopy in the nervous system of cats, young pigs, as well as in the culture of mollusk ganglia cells. The possibility of detecting neural syncytia using the method of the unmasking of digital images of arborizations of interneuronal connections in the nervous tissue of the brain was established, but this method was not used to study of the enteric nervous system. The aim of the study was to analyze the submucosal and intermuscular autonomic nerve plexuses of the intestine of the domestic cat (Felis catus) by method of the unmasking of digital images. The material for the study was preparations of the small and large intestines. All manipulations with animals were carried out in compliance with Directive 2010/63/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of the European Union on the protection of animals used for scientific aims. The experiments were carried out on mature outbred cats (n=45). To obtain preparations, the intestinal vessels of experimental animals were sequentially perfused with solutions of barium hydroxide, then silver nitrate, and hydroquinone. After perfusion, intestinal preparations were taken and fixed. The obtained histological preparations (including ultramicroscopic ones) were studied by the method of unmasking of digital images (of the downscaling of the image resolution). As a result of the study, numerous distant syncytial anastomoses connecting the bodies of neurocytes of all types of Dogiel cells were revealed for the first time, and their properties were established. Widespread multiple morphological mono- and polyvalent ring syncytial structures were found. Their supposed function is the opposite direction of electric and axoplasmic flow. An in vivo feature of the reflex syncytial apparatus of the enteric nervous system is the formation of multi-tiered closed loop-like contacts of nerve fibers and type II Dogiel cells with pronounced local and diffuse receptor branches. Thus, a characteristic feature of the enteric nervous system is the presence of multicellular connections of neurocytes in the form of a network of distant syncytial anastomoses. These anastomoses are real proof of the reticular principle of the structural organization of the autonomic plexuses of the enteric nervous system and the reticular concept in general.

Der Flussname Inn, Ockhams Rasiermesser und moderne Indogermanistik

Abstract Some European hydronyms (among them also the river-name Inn) have sometimes been explained based on a root PIE “ *en‑/*on‑” (modern spelling: PIE *h₁en(H)-), which has usually been given the meaning ‘flow, river’ vel sim. This root cannot even be found in Pokorny’s Indogermanisches etymologisches Wörterbuch (1959). No real proof for that root has been found in the appellative lexicon of any Indo-European language. Moreover, there aren’t any sure continuations of that root in the onymic lexicons of those languages. All names put forward as arguments can either be explained based on a root PIE *pen-/*pon- ‘swamp, (standing) water’ (because they are Celtic) or based on a root PIE *h₂en- ‘haul (water)’. As long as no proof of an appellative use of a root PIE *h₁en(H)- can be offered, which alone might tell us, what that root actually meant, the application of ‘Occam’s razor’ leaves us no other choice but to explain all regarding names from the other two roots.

ZAGHLÛL RÂGHIB MUḤAMMAD AL-NAJJÂR’S METHODS AND PRINCIPLES OF SCIENTIFIC EXEGESIS: A Review of Tafsîr al-Âyât al-Kawniyyah fî al-Qur’ân al-Karîm

Scientific exegesis is one of the new trends in interpreting the Quran that will continue to be in demand. There are many discussions of science and Quran integration, and the rise of various works of scientific interpretation among scholars and scientists has become the real proof of it. However, some Muslim communities still doubt the validity of scientific interpretations. One of the reasons is because the source of the interpretation is relative and temporal. This evidence, of course, cannot be compared with the Quran, which is absolute. Therefore, a regulation is needed in the application of scientific interpretation. This study aims to examine and explore the methods and principles of the scientific interpretation of the Quran conducted by Zaghlûl Râghib al-Najjâr, in terms of their strengths, shortcomings, and relevance in the interpretation of the Quran. This research is considered qualitative research utilizing library research by analyzing some literatures such as books and journal articles. The results of this research show that the Zaghlûl as a Geologist, who is quite productive with the authority of science he has, does not only interpret Quran scientifically but also explains the procedure of interpretation through methods and principles of interpretation similar to scholars of tafsîr in general. In fact, he may be even be considered more specific and ideal compared to others because he not only complements but also enhances the guidelines and principles of the scientific exegesis that have been used before.
