In this article I discuss one of contemporary examples of The Book of Revelation’s influence to the art, which is the series of illustrations, created by Grzegorz Bednarski, to the chosen parts of the last Bible’s book. “The Lord of Candlestics and Stars”, first work of the series, showing the initial vision of the Apocalypse, was point of my analysis. After discussing the genesis Bednarski’s illustrations and short review of the biblical text, I put a question presented in the title: Is the work of Polish artist is only a more or less successful drawing based on biblical text, or is rather theological interpretation, which enables to discover the real message of the Apocalypse? Analyses shows, that artist’s work primarily remain faithful to the prophetic message of The Book of Revelation and is the way of interpretation and actualization biblical message. Artist became an exegetist, who extracts theological message from the Book. He is “the voice”, which “can and should be seen” to have better understanding of it. In this way, Grzegorz Bednarski convey something unimaginable, but important, essential and necessary.

Usage of Whatsapp in Relation to Employee Engagement in a Telecommunication Company

WhatsApps application, the most talk-about mobile MIM application made available for any smartphone in the market. WhatsApp allows exchanging of real time text messages either to individual or group. The usage of WhatsApp has changed the way people communicate either personally and professionally. This paper is to investigate the relationship of WhatsApp usage and employee engagement in the organization. Almost all respondents use Whatapps and believe WhatsApp is a useful communication application. The paper indicates that there is a relationship between WhatsApp usage and employee engagement. Thus, WhatsApps application may be used as an effective internal communication tool to disseminate and sharing information

Few are as Good as Many: An Ontology-Based Tweet Spam Detection Approach

Due to the high popularity of Twitter, spammers tend to favor its use in spreading their commercial messages. In the context of detecting twitter spams, different statistical and behavioral analysis approaches were proposed. However, these techniques suffer from many limitations due to: 1) ongoing changes to Twitter’s streaming API which constrains access to a user’s list of followers/followees; 2) spammer’s creativity in building diverse messages; 3) use of embedded links and new accounts; and 4) need for analyzing different characteristics about users without their consent. To address the aforementioned challenges, we propose a novel ontology-based approach for spam detection over Twitter during events by analyzing the relationship between ham user tweets versus spams. Our approach relies solely on public tweet messages while performing the analysis and classification tasks. In this context, ontologies are derived and used to generate a dictionary that validates real tweet messages from random topics. Similarity ratio among the dictionary and tweets is used to reflect the legitimacy of the messages. Experiments conducted on real tweet data illustrate that message-to-message techniques achieved a low detection rate compared with our ontology-based approach which outperforms them by approximately 200%, in addition to promising scalability for large data analysis.

Perceptions of Marriage and Human Relationships in Jane Austen’s Novel Emma

Emma is a novel written by Jane Austen, which is based on real- life situations of the eighteenth century England. Austen depicts her novels to show clearly the customs and traditions that people had to use in order to get married; her dissatisfaction towards all these conditions; male dominance and also the consideration of women as weak human beings with limited rights. Based on all these issues, Austen chooses different kinds of marriages, mainly based on economical interest. Most of the people in her novels see the marriage as an obligation which had to be fulfilled; most of the girls got involved into a marriage market where parents decided what was good or bad for them. This paper describes the conditions of unmarried and married women Emma; the ways how the unmarried women chose the partners; the ways how Austen compared the conditions of women with the real life situations of the eighteenth century Britain; how she used irony to show her dissatisfaction towards the traditions of that time, and also the real message she conveys to the world.

WCRT Analysis of CAN Messages in Gateway-Integrated In-Vehicle Networks

In modern automobiles, gateways are commonly used to connect several subsystems of controller area networks (CANs) to achieve integrated architecture and distributed cross-bus functionalities. To analyze the real-time property of such in-vehicle networks, worst-case response time (WCRT) analysis for gateway-integrated CAN messages has been studied recently. However, the WCRTs obtained are quite pessimistic. In this study, we examine in detail the various actual arriving orders of gateway messages and then propose an explorative WCRT computation method. It is proved that the obtained WCRT results are safe WCRT bounds. Experimental results for real message set demonstrate as much as 24% reduction of WCRT compared with those obtained using the state-of-the-art methods.

The MERIT 3 project: Alerting general practitioners to cardiac arrest in the community

BackgroundThe work context of the general practitioner (GP) potentially lends itself to the provision of early community based, cardiac arrest care. GPs have traditionally encountered out of hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) as a component of routine patient care but have not been formally linked with the statutory ambulance service. Computer aided dispatch technology now allows real time GP text message alert to nearby cardiac arrest events. AimTo examine the feasibility, uptake and outcome of a novel scheme to alert GPs to nearby OHCA events in their communities. MethodsGPs are recruited to voluntarily participate in a cardiac arrest text alert initiative called the ‘MERIT 3′ project. GPs indicate the hours during which they wish to receive OHCA text alerts, and also specify a geo-location from which they will receive alerts to OHCA events occurring within a specified radius. Data on alerts, responses, OHCA incidents and outcomes are gathered prospectively, using ambulance control and GP data and with corroborative data from the national OHCA registry. Results423 general practices throughout Ireland were invited to participate. In the initial 12 months, 100 GPs from 85 individual practices have enrolled, 74 GPs have received alerts and 26 GPs have responded to incidents. Only 222/781 (28.4%) text alerts issued by ambulance control have proven to be recognised as cardiac arrests with resuscitation attempts. GPs have attended 51/776 (6.6%) OHCA incidents to which they have been alerted, with resuscitation undertaken in 34 cases with three survivors. ConclusionText alert activation of GPs to nearby OHCA events has proven feasible, with significant activity during the establishment period, but a low survival rate which is similar to the overall national OHCA survival rate. A high proportion of alerts do not involve resuscitation opportunities.

The Mobile Application for the Environment Monitoring System

The basic principle of the Android application development technology and the framework of EMS(Environment Monitoring System) is discussed in this paper. A mobile application for EMS3000 based on Android is developed. It provides user login, connection testing, alarming, real time data monitoring, message notification and other functions. The monitoring items and quantities which user concerns are showed in "my concern" module. The system was tested completely to provide user a better operation experience.

The web based monitoring project at the CMS experiment

The Compact Muon Solenoid is a large a complex general purpose experiment at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC), built and maintained by many collaborators from around the world. Efficient operation of the detector requires widespread and timely access to a broad range of monitoring and status information. To that end the Web Based Monitoring (WBM) system was developed to present data to users located anywhere from many underlying heterogeneous sources, from real time messaging systems to relational databases. This system provides the power to combine and correlate data in both graphical and tabular formats of interest to the experimenters, including data such as beam conditions, luminosity, trigger rates, detector conditions, and many others, allowing for flexibility on the user’s side. This paper describes the WBM system architecture and describes how the system has been used from the beginning of data taking until now (Run1 and Run 2).

A Distributed Multi-facet Search Engine of Microblogs Based on SolrCloud

Microblog services, such as Twitter and Weibo in China, has become a new yet powerful information dissemination channel. More than 500 million tweets are sent every day. The extraordinary large number of messages brings new challenges to conventional search paradigms: a message might be relevant to the query in many aspects, for example the content, time and location of a message. Furthermore, there might be a large number of such relevant messages. In order to address these challenges, we designed a multi-facet distributed microblog search system using off-the-shelf open source frameworks including SolrCloud, Hadoop and Zookeeper. The system was then populated with real world messages collected from the most popular microblog website in China: Sina Weibo. We compared the performances of the standalone and the distributed version of the system. Empirical experimental results showed both effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed system in retrieving large scale microblog messages.

A Study on the Integrated Correlation between Worship and Preaching

Worship and Preaching are integrated into one. The reason is, first, that both are integrated into one form with a message. Second, worship and preaching have a form of communicating. For this reason the two are integrated. The ritual element of worship is the human response to God's revelation toward man and has a real message in its spiritual communication. The preaching is a channel through which God's revelation. In this respect, worship and preaching are modes of communication with messages, and the process of establishing such worship and preaching can be very diverse in the variety of description that make up it. So worship and preaching contain spiritual messages, and both agree on attributes that achieve spiritual communication. Therefore, worship accepts preaching as a whole. The wider acceptance of worship makes it possible to understand preaching in worship. The 'Law of worship' can be the 'Law of preaching,' and the 'Law of preaching' can be the 'Law of worship.' The Gospel gives a comprehensive picture of the image of Jesus Christ. This Christ image encompasses the content of the Christian faith. The image of faith can be a message of faith. That is, the image is a message. Ritual is a religious act that interacts with images between human and God. Because this is accomplished through visual things, physical things. There is preaching in worship, and preaching can be a worship in itself. When preaching is regarded as a factor of worship, it can be worship only by preaching, and when worship is the time to hear God's revelation, spiritual communication can be established with the faith community including the message of preaching in some formal ritual of worship. Thus, Worship and Preaching are each understood as a unified faith value rather than a separate, independent. And This concept forms a broader faith world.

When location and content matter: effects of mobile messages on intention to redeem

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to examine the effect of mobile messages on intention to redeem a coupon or promotional offer, depending on location and content. Location (home, city, shop) and content (coupon, promotional message) were used as independent factors.Design/methodology/approachParticipants in two online surveys (using 3×3 and 3×2 between-subjects factorial designs) received both simulated and real application smartphone messages and they got the location where the smartphone shopping message scenario is located. The surveys produced 528 responses for analysis in the first study and 146 answers for the second study.FindingsThe results indicate that mobile messages can be highly effective for users of discount apps when the consumer is near the shop. However, the high perceived risk associated with such a message could deter potential customers from using mobile coupons.Research limitations/implicationsThe main limitation of this study is that few consumers used the discount mobile applications examined. Future research should implement field experiments with real and potential users to investigate this low usage rate.Practical implicationsBrick-and-mortar retailers can compete with digitization by using mobile messages, as users’ intention to redeem is quite high. However, they should be aware of the privacy concerns preventing some customers from using these apps.Originality/valueCurrent research highlights the importance of digitization in retailing by using new technologies for brick-and-mortars, e.g., mobile messages as part of mobile targeting. This study provides evidence of the potential risks and benefits of sending mobile messages to customers in a different context.

Educating Youth Against Tobacco Advertising: A Media Literacy Approach for Reducing Indonesia's Replacement Smokers

According to recent data extracted from Global Tobacco Atlas (2015), about 66% Indonesian male aged no less than 15 years old are active smokers. It means 2 among 3 Indonesian male are smokers. The number of young smokers arose significantly. Smokers among 15-19 years old has increased 17 % each year, meanwhile, baby smokers among 5-9 years old has multiplied 400 %. These figures implied the rise of health risk among Indonesians. The tobacco industry tries every year to recruit young people to replace those current smokers who are dying or quitting. This youth being targeted by tobacco industry is called ‘replacement smokers’, and is lured to start smoking through the work of advertising and creative marketing strategy. A study carried out by Health Ministry of Indonesia showed that 70% youth were started to smoke after heavily exposed by cigarette advertising. In order to break tobacco advertising spell, a brand jamming strategy based on media literacy approach was conducted toward junior high school pupils. By educating them about advertising-behind-the scene and challenging them to creatively produce a ‘mocking’ version of popular tobacco ads, students now are capable enough to deconstructing the real message behind tobacco ads.

Analysis of cancer survival data and related outcomes is necessary to assess cancer treatment. The survival analysis, although considered a cornerstone of oncology papers, is the weak point for the interpretation of results when used without robust data, without verifying the conditions of usage, and without defining the terminology we are using; leading to missing the real message. Unfortunately, a lot of scientific papers dealing with oncology violates the assumptions necessary for the usage of these tests, consequently, the conclusions in these papers cannot be assumed by the methodology used.

A novel message embedding algorithm using the optimal weighted modulus

This paper proposes a novel message embedding algorithm using the optimal weighted modulus. Our algorithm, referred to as a weighted modulus and abbreviated by WM(n, M), conceals an M-ary secret digit in a group of n pixels. Using an n-tuple optimal weight ensures that our algorithm can produce stego pixels with minimal pixel distortion. We adopt four steps to pragmatically accomplish the goal of message embedding. In the first step, we introduce a check-weight algorithm to systematically generate all of the valid weights. Secondly, we classify valid weights by referring to theoretically minimal distortion to produce an optimal weight. Along with the classification, we construct a pixel alteration table which simplifies the process of the message concealment through convenient vector operations. We take advantage of the homogeneous alteration table that is built in this step to decrease the distortion encountered when resolving the problem of pixel underflow or overflow. Finally, we propose a universal bit conversion scheme which transforms a serial secret bit stream into M-ary digits to minimize the transformation loss, thereby achieving maximal embedding capacity. Our algorithm accurately predicts results prior to real message concealment, effectively conveys maximal secret bits and speedily produces stego images with theoretically minimal distortion. The experimental results demonstrate that our algorithm outperforms 11 current state-of-the-art competitors. It is not detectable by the SPAM and RS steganalytic attacks.

Ambiguous Multi-Symmetric Scheme and Applications

This paper introduces and evaluates the performance of a novel cipher scheme, Ambiguous Multi-Symmetric Cryptography (AMSC), which conceals multiple coherent plain-texts in one cipher-text. The cipher-text can be decrypted by different keys to produce different plain-texts. Security analysis showed that AMSC is secure against cipher-text only and known plain-text attacks. AMSC has the following applications: 1) it can send multiple messages for multiple receivers through one cipher-text; 2) it can send one real message and multiple decoys for camouflage; and 3) it can send one real message to one receiver using parallel processing. Performance comparison with leading symmetric algorithms (DES, AES and RC6) demonstrated AMSC’s efficiency in execution time.

The paper considers sex and gender issues underlying Mikhail Kuzmin’s longer poem ‘The Trout Breaks the Ice’. In the Russian literary canon, Kuzmin has not obtained the high status he deserves because his openly gay writings are not acceptable either under homophobic Soviet law or by today’s official anti-LGBT Russian mindset. Interestingly, despite the poet’s notorious reputation, the homosexual core of ‘The Trout’ has been consistently ignored in most critical analyses. Nor has the other side of Kuzmin’s homosexuality, his misogynism – also an important part of ‘The Trout’ – been discussed so far. Dissolved in rich intertextuality, symbols and rhetoric, it is responsible for the ambivalent portrayal of the heroine. She is a Psyche who patronizes the love between the two male protagonists but also a femme fatale who drives one of them, who becomes her lover, to death. Women were avenged later, in Anna Akhmatova’s ‘Poem without a Hero’, a tribute to her 1920s romance with Ol’ga Glebova-Sudeikina, which was inspired literarily by a rivalry with Kuzmin, especially his ‘Trout’. The poetess’ inherent Lesbian agenda led to a covert reworking of Kuzmin’s gay poetics, which was programmatically open about homosexual love being more rewarding and less tragic than heterosexual love. As the ‘Poem’s hidden real message has been ignored even by scholars for fear of diminishing Akhmatova’s reputation, ‘The Poem’ succeeded in eclipsing Kuzmin’s more genuine and artistically daring portrayal of bisexual triangular love that flourished in the Silver Age.

안드로이드 앱을 이용한 실시간 유료 방송 취약점 분석

동영상 실시간 스트리밍 (Live Streaming)이란 텔레비전 생방송처럼 촬영한 정보를 실시간으로 사용자의 동영상 플레이어로 보내 재생하도록 하는 방식을 말한다. 비디오와 오디오를 실시간으로 인코딩하여 많은 사용자들이 동시에 시청하기 위해서는 RTMP (Real Time Messaging Protocol), HLS (HTTP Live Streaming) 등 실시간 스트리밍을 지원하는 프로토콜이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 실시간 스트리밍을 제공하는 국내 6개 OTT (Over the Top) 업체의 어플리케이션을 대상으로 패킷 캡처를 통해 어플리케이션들의 패킷을 분석하였다. 채널 목록을 암호화하지 않거나, 유료채널에 적합하지 않은 프로토콜을 사용함으로써 유료채널을 무료로 시청할 수 있다는 취약점을 밝히고자 한다. Live streaming is a method to provide media service by sending recoded media to a user's video player. In order to provide video and audio contents in real-time for a large number of users simultaneously, live streaming compatible protocols such as RTMP (Real Time Messaging Protocol), HLS (Http Live Streaming), are required. In this paper, we analyzed vulnerability of paid live streaming services with the captured packets from the applications used by six major OTT (over-the-top) companies in Korea supporting live streaming services. We found that streaming channels were not encrypted and access control mechanisms were not properly used. Thus, guest users can freely use paid live streaming services.

MESSAGE SCHEDULING ON CAN BUS FOR SHIP ENGINE SYSTEMS

This paper reports novel algorithm for handling real time message scheduling on CAN bus which consider buffer occupancy and message type (alarm, periodic real time and non real time). This algorithm is derived to reduce burden of the distributed control unit (DCU) which have obligation to deliver message within strict time and also manage buffer storage occupancy. The algorithm works by changing the message priority which is attached in the identifier field of message frame. The priority adjustment is performed by online calculation prior to send the message on the CAN bus. Finally, this proposed algorithm is applied on ship engine systems which consist of certain number of DCUs. In this networked control system, the proposed algorithm can decrease buffer overflow. Furthermore, the important message alarm and periodic real time message can be delivered within the deadline.Keywords: CAN Bus, message scheduling, DCU

The power of persuasive communication to influence sustainable holiday choices: Appealing to self-benefits and norms

Messages with a clear focus on personal benefits and social and personal norms could impact holidaymakers' preferences towards opting for sustainability actions. This argument was explored using a three stage, sequential, mixed methods study. Firstly, analysis of current sustainability messages from three responsible tour operators revealed a low likelihood of them influencingcustomer preferences towards sustainability actions. An online survey of consumer beliefs and values proved that a manipulated message was more persuasive than the real messages used by the tour operators. This informed an experiment in message design that showed preferences for: i) obtaining individual gains from acting pro-sustainability (the importance of self-benefit), ii) doing what others are doing (the appeal of conforming to the descriptive norm), and iii) doing what others think one should do (the appeal of conforming to the injunctive norm). The findings have led the ANVR to relaunch their sustainability programme, focusing on customer benefits.
