Study of the possibilities of additive technologies based on thermoplastic materials in a laboratory experiment and in studying the limitation of sand production in production wells

This paper presents the possibility of designing sand filters using the Compass-3D computer-aided design system of the Russian company ASCON, as well as creating an in-situ filter based on radiation cross-linked polyethylene. The filtration properties of filters and the possibility of sand retention by these models are experimentally studied.

Comparative Assessment of the Possibility of Using Gel Fraction and Network Density Indices to Characterise the Degree of Crosslinking and the Service Properties of Radiation-Crosslinked Polyethylene for Cable Insulation

An investigation was made of the influence of the conditions of radiation crosslinking on the network density and mechanical properties of crosslinked polyethylene (XPE) at high temperatures. The optimum electron radiator generator current and speed of cable drawing that ensure the maximum network density were found. It was shown that the gel fraction does not fully characterise the degree of crosslinking and the mechanical properties of XPE.

Radiation Cross-linked Polyethylene Foam: Preparation and Properties

The ability of some additives to increase the efficiency of polyethylene (PE) cross-linking is studied. The results confirm that additives are effective especially at low doses. Formulations of radiation cross-linked PE foam are used, and optimum conditions for the foaming process to prepare desirable final products are obtained. In addition, different properties of the foam, such as tensile properties, density, water absorption, thermal conductivity, and cellular structure, are determined in relation to blowing agent concentration. Finally, a PE foam formula with desirable properties is introduced.

60Co radiation crosslinked polyethylene heat-shrinkable material

The characteristics of 60Co- r ray radiation crosslinking, the comparison in data between electron beam radiation crosslinking and 60Co-r ray radiation crosslinking were described in this paper. The properties of product and the principle, technical process, and main equipments of the making of 60Co - r ray radiation crosslinking polyethylene heat-shrinkable material were introduced as well.

Effects of Vinyl Chain-Ends on the Melt Viscoelastic Properties of Radiation Crosslinked Polyethylene

This paper discusses the structural changes and summarizes the uniaxial melt extensional properties of low density polyethylene (LDPE) after it has been subjected to high energy radiation. Two LDPE resins were selected with similar characteristics except that one (LDPE-1) had a much higher level of unsaturated vinyl change ends. The vinyl chain ends in LDPE-1 were found to be highly active during the radiation-induced crosslinking reactions, result ing in the formation of a network polymer with improved network homogeneity and melt extensional properties. This improvement is expected to benefit sev eral major PE applications such as foam, film and deep-draw thermoforming.
