The influence of Ir, Ru and Pd on binary Co-P and ternary Ni-Co-P amorphous alloys has been studied in an attempt to improve the electrocatalytic properties of these alloys for water electrolysis. Exchange current densities and Tafel slopes for hydrogen and oxygen evolution reactions were determined from quasi-steady state polarization curves obtained in KOH aqueous solutions (1.0–6.0 M) at temperatures ranging from 30 ° to 70 °C. EDAX analysis and SEM were applied for the characterization of the sample materials.
