Satisfaction on educational training quality amongst college pharmacist alumni in Vietnam

Abstract Objectives This study aimed to determine the factors affecting the satisfaction of 3-year-programme college pharmacy alumni on training/educational quality at a pharmacy college in Vietnam. Methods A cross-sectional research using a purposive sampling method was conducted on the alumni who had recently graduated in 2020 of a pharmacy college in Hai Duong, Vietnam. Data collection was conducted in two phases from November 2021 to January 2022, with the first phase being an online survey through Google Forms and the second phase being phone interviews and the use of the Zalo application. The quality of educational training was evaluated using 21 items, with an additional item designated for overall satisfaction. Exploratory factor analysis identified the four factors from the 21 items assessing training quality, whereas multivariate regression analysis determined the relationship between satisfaction factors and the overall satisfaction. Results A total of 282 complete records were obtained. The college pharmacist alumni’s satisfaction with the training qualities is influenced by four main factors, with internal consistency assessed using Cronbach’s alpha (α): the training staff (α = 0.93), the facilities and environment qualities (α = 0.91), the training programmes (α = 0.88) and the administrative formalities and support activities (α = 0.84). All factors had a positive impact on alumni satisfaction, the training staff factor (β = 0.460, P < 0.001) had the greatest impact on the alumni satisfaction. Conclusions This study identified four factors affecting the satisfaction of college pharmacy alumni on training quality, including (1) the training staff, (2) the facilities and environmental qualities, (3) the training programmes and (4) the administrative formalities and support activities. To enhance training quality and alumni satisfaction, educational institutions should focus on innovating the teaching methods of the faculty, shifting from traditional teaching methods to active teaching methods that make lectures dynamic and help students develop necessary skills, as well as organizing training sessions and practical visits to improve specialized knowledge and practical experience for the faculty.

CEO education and the ability to raise capital

AbstractResearch Question/IssueUsing a unique hand‐collected dataset, this study examines the role of chief executive officer (CEO) educational attainments in relation to newly public firms.Theoretical/Academic ImplicationsUsing human capital, institutional and upper echelon theories, we hypothesize and demonstrate that CEO educational attainments do not unambiguously affect investors' perceptions of a firm's future prospects. Instead, their influence depends on the quality of CEO education as well as on the degree of uncertainty regarding the firm's future performance and the level of information asymmetry between issuers and prospective investors. To our knowledge, this is the first study that provides a comprehensive treatment of the role of CEO education in the IPO context.Research Findings/InsightsWe find that initial public offering (IPO) firms led by CEOs with superior educational credentials—in terms of level and quality—are associated with lower levels of IPO underpricing. This association is mainly driven by CEOs that hold advanced degrees. Notably, a difference‐in‐differences approach based on two quasi‐natural experiments indicates that the impact of CEO education on IPO underpricing is more pronounced within environments characterized by lower information transparency. The baseline results also hold in the longer term, thereby confirming the value of signaling prestigious academic awards at the time of the IPO.Practitioner/Policy ImplicationsOur evidence on the importance of CEO education, and especially that CEOs with varying levels and quality of educational training might differentially affect newly listed firms, is useful to providers of financial capital and boards of directors interested in assessing the viability of new ventures. The implication of our study for IPO investors is that it is worth paying more to take an equity position in firms run by better educated CEOs.

ПЕДАГОГІЧНИЙ ПОТЕНЦІАЛ МІЖНАРОДНИХ ПОРІВНЯЛЬНИХ ДОСЛІДЖЕНЬ

The content of the article provides a theoretical analysis of international comparative research, which potential is rather significant in pedagogical theory and practice. The relevance of the study has been problematized by the need to deepen the profile of international research cooperation to overcome the current destabilization processes. The priority of comparative analysis has been outlined at the level of phenomenological functioning. The importance of the influence of these factors (in particular, political, social and cultural, scientific, organizational, and methodological) on the development of the phenomenon under study has been considered as a whole. The theoretical (analysis, systematization, and modeling), empirical, and statistical methods have been used as research tools. The prospects for further development of international comparative studies of pedagogical centering have been presented in terms of the priority of the conditions of the decentralization. The cross impact on the domestic phenomenological functioning of two interrelated factors – the transformation of the socialist camp into the post-socialist space, the globalization and the integration of education into the international social and cultural space has been generalized. The supranational social orientation of the studied phenomenon has been considered in terms of its theoretical, methodological, and empirical content. The importance of exogenous (international educational policy, the level of international recognition of educational structures and the quality of educational training taking into account the requirements of the international labor market, indicators of external financing of educational projects, etc.) and endogenous (consistency of the norms of the current legal framework of the state with the trends of world educational progress, financing the development of the industry, the interest of management structures in the innovative development of education, etc.) determinants of the productivity of phenomenological functioning has been highlighted. The advantages of multi-object international comparative research over mono-object research in terms of the study of multifaceted pedagogical phenomena has been emphasized. It is worth noting that the priority of integration trends on the way to resolving everyday problems is especially relevant for the education sector, in which productive functioning is not possible under the conditions of international isolation. It has been emphasized that by comparing domestic and foreign branch achievements to make rationally balanced decisions at the national level, it is possible to gain further social and cultural well-being and educational progress. It has been identified that only with a fair assessment of the functioning of education, upbringing, and learning at the level of different countries, a set of effective measures to improve the efficiency of these branches can be chosen. A special value of pedagogically centered international research, which allows analyzing the chosen subject of the study within wide geographical and time limits has been generalized.

Alumni Commitment in Higher Education Institutions: Determinants and Empirical Evidence

ABSTRACT This paper intends to analyze alumni commitment as a determinant to loyalty, measured by recommendation and participation and to identify its determinants considering satisfaction and image variables. Using data of a public Portuguese higher education institution, the results suggest that the performance and the timetable of support services, as well as the relationship with teachers, are determinants of alumni recommendation, whereas a good opinion of the quality of educational training, the satisfaction with the teachers’ ability, the relationships with them and with the non-academic staff strength the alumni participation in the institution’s activities. Although both satisfaction and image variables are determinant to explain alumni loyalty, their effects on loyalty seem to be unbalanced as the image variables seem to be more determinant in increasing both the probability of recommendation and participation. These results provide relevant information to support communication and advertising strategies and they may be a good help to other Higher Education Institutions.

Rationale and relevance: the collection and analysis of objective information about the success service graduates institutional schools at the initial stage of professionalization allows you to define promising directions in system of professional training of employees of law-enforcement field and to adjust the educational process in accordance with the needs of operational activities. Objective: to study the satisfaction with the quality of educational services by their consumers (graduates) and employers (managers). The research method is a questionnaire survey of managers and graduates, including four sections. The first section assessed the readiness of graduates to carry out professional activities. The second section assessed the General cultural, business and personal qualities of graduates. The third and fourth sections identified shortcomings and advantages in the training of specialists. the article describes the results of a survey of managers and graduates regarding satisfaction with the quality of educational training. Description of research procedure and sampling: the survey was conducted a year after graduation from educational organizations, it took part 319 of the heads of the expert, investigative and operational units of the Moi of Russia in Volgograd region and 348 graduates of the Volgograd Academy of the MIA of Russia. Among 204 interviewees and evaluate the graduate of the specialty "Legal national security", 53 "Judicial expertise" and 91 "law Enforcement" 2008–2012 set. Results of the study: a high level of professional training was revealed in 59% of graduates of police operatives, 61% — investigators, 60% — experts. The average level of training by mentors was observed in 39% who graduated from the Academy with a degree in "Forensic examination", "Legal support of national security" and 40% — "law Enforcement". The results of the comparative analysis of the expert evaluation of managers and self-assessment showed that graduates are able to adequately assess the level of formation of the necessary competencies. This conclusion is confirmed by the results of the correlation analysis (the lowest correlation coefficient was 0.55). In conclusion, taking into account the results indicated the need for a systematic analysis of the effectiveness of educational and psychological training, the effectiveness of professional activities of graduates of educational institutions of the Ministry of internal Affairs of Russia.

Macroeconomic dynamics in Ukrainian middle class formation

The article considers of macroeconomic indicators dynamics that influence on the middle class formation. Analysis was performed in sufficiently deep dynamics, which allows us to form a representation about the middle class conditions formation, his becoming and directions of perspective development. The above dynamics for fairly a long time period displays almost the whole transformations picture, which appear in the macroeconomy of Ukraine. Selected statistical data depending of the population income from GDP in national currency and in US dollars are presented for conduct such an analysis. An assessment of such macro-indicators as inflation, the level of employment and unemployment, external public debt, etc. is given. Unfortunately, the considered macroeconomic dynamics in the main system-forming middle class indicators cannot be recognized as steadily increasing. But she is allows us to assert with sufficient certainty about the dialectical presence of economic prerequisites for highlighting of the population proportion, which can be attributed to the middle class. Great influence on the population income, and consequently, the middle class, is unemployment, which reflects the state of country’s socio-economic development, the availability of jobs, the quality of educational training, and others. The number of middle class in the country is directly related with migration processes. The specificity of the Ukrainian migration lies in the fact that it has become a characteristic feature of the life way for a significant part of population. The labor migration increasing is accompanied by a certain reorientation of its flows from the traditional east to the west direction. It is emphasized that a stable socio-economic growth of the country is the main factor in the middle class share increasing. The middle class formation is considered as an important criterion for the reforms effectiveness that are being carried out in the country today.

Чем рискует классический университет в современном обществе?

The set of global challenges to the classical University from the modern society and the risks connected with them are analyzed. Thus an innovative type of social development creates the risk of the decrease in the efficiency of University training, the weakening of the scientific component of University education. Virtualization of social relations is fraught with the risk for University to lose training functions. Consumer style of life and thinking of students gives rise to the risks of decreasing the level and quality of educational training, of defundamentalization, fragmentation, and profanation of education in total. Economocentric orientation of modern society provokes the risk of losing the centuries-old University identity foundations - the liberal education and the independent researches, of the University transforming into institution that serves current public needs. The risks of globalization are the loss of national sovereignty by the state higher school, marginalization of national Universities as the result of “The Global University” transnational company establishment. It is considered that mentioned risks can be minimized thanks to the modernization of the classical University.

Optimizing the evaluation system for postgraduates of hepatobiliary surgery

In our country, nowadays, evaluation system of stages-model is adopted to estimate the quality of education training of postgraduates majoring in hepatobiliary surgery. The quality of the published papers is the chief standard to assess postgraduates’ learning outcome. Meanwhile different standards of evaluation have been established according to the distinction between the professional degree and the academic degree. Institution of Hepatobiliary Surgery of PLA in Southwest Hospital summarized the defects in current evaluation system for the master degree candidates of hepatobiliary surgery through questionnaire survey. And the defects were listed below：firstly, the evaluation content was too much simplex;secondly, the evaluation method was relatively hysteretic;and finally, external assessment from single part was the main form. On this basis, Institution of Hepatobiliary Surgery of PLA in Southwest Hospital proposed some measures to optimize and the evaluation system to improve the comprehensive quality of these postgraduates. These measures were also listed below：①establish-ing the evaluation system of goal programming;detailing the training objective by tutors and postgrad-uates according to the direction of the research project and the situation of themselves and using these detailed objectives as the primal reference to do evaluation. ②establishing the total quality manage-ment system covering the professional competence, capacity for scientific research, humanistic quality and medical ethics to broaden the depth and breadth of the evaluation. ③introducing study process profile and the best evidence medical education in the training process to establish the monitoring system and the information feedback system.
