The Scientific-Theoretical Foundations of Competitive Marketing Strategy

The search for sustained competitive advantage in increasingly turbulent markets demands a robust scientific–theoretical grounding of marketing strategy. This study synthesizes classical and contemporary theoretical lenses—industrial‑organization economics, the resource‑based view, dynamic capabilities theory, and institutional perspectives—to clarify the conceptual scaffolding of competitive marketing strategy. Using a structured qualitative content analysis of canonical and emergent literature, the article identifies the convergent constructs that underlie strategic positioning, differentiation, and value co‑creation. Results reveal that effective competitive marketing strategy rests on the integration of market orientation with firm‑specific learning routines that continuously reconfigure resources in anticipation of environmental shifts. The discussion elaborates a multidimensional framework linking advantage mechanisms (cost, differentiation, relational, and innovation‑driven) to measurable marketplace outcomes and offers implications for scholarly research and managerial practice.

Breastfeeding Support and Protection During Natural Disaster and Climate-Related Emergencies in Indonesia: Policy Audit.

Indonesia is a middle-income country in Southeast Asia in which 2,394 disasters were recorded in 2022 alone, with a total loss of 178,367 lives. In 2018 governments at the World Health Assembly resolved to improve emergency planning using Operational Guidance on Infant and Young Child Feeding in Emergencies (OG IFE). Little is known about whether Indonesian policies protect the health and lives of women, infants, and young children in line with OG IFE through planning for breastfeeding support and protection during emergencies. To identify and audit Indonesian policy regulations regarding infant and young child feeding support and protection during emergencies. A search of the grey literature was conducted in 2023 through Google Basic and Advanced Search, official websites, and consultation with the Indonesian Breastfeeding Mothers Association (Asosiasi Ibu Menyusui Indonesia/AIMI) network. Keywords used included the Indonesian words for "regulation," "disaster," and the name of a province, city, or region, or the name of appropriate government organizations. Data was analyzed using a qualitative content analysis approach, and based on the Infant and Young Child Feeding in Emergencies: Operational Guidance for Emergency Relief Staff and Program Managers (OG-IFE) framework. A total of 513 regulations were found online; however, only four were included for audit. The 509 excluded regulations did not specifically mention infant and young child feeding in emergencies. Those Indonesian policies that did mention infant and young child feeding in emergencies lacked attention to, and comprehensive planning for, breastfeeding protection and support during emergencies. Mothers and infants may be exposed to unnecessary risk and avoidable morbidity and mortality during emergencies. Indonesia could enhance its disaster relief policies to align with international standards supporting breastfeeding in emergencies. This could involve more comprehensive and integrated regional planning and preparation before disasters, including regular assessment of local infant and young child feeding practices, communication measures to raise emergency workers' awareness of breastfeeding, and resourcing of training so as to translate policies into practice.

Republika sociologů mezi analýzou a angažovaností: Ferdinand Peroutka jako veřejný sociolog?

This article examines how Ferdinand Peroutka’s texts reflect the tension between analytical detachment and engagement and to what extent his reflection on post-war changes can be interpreted as public sociology (Burawoy 2005). Within the framework of the Republic of Sociologists (Nešpor 2011), the study analyzes Peroutka’s journalistic work from 1945–1947 and his distinctive approach to democratic values and societal transformations. Through a qualitative content analysis of selected texts from Tak nebo tak (Peroutka 1947), the article illustrates how Peroutka oscillated between the factual analysis of structural changes and active participation in public debate. The study also reflects on the limitations of this interpretation – notably the omission of the institutional and cultural context (Kosatík 2011) – and opens perspectives for further research, particularly an exploration of the spiritual aspects of Peroutka’s reflexivity and a comparison of his approach with that of other public intellectuals of the time. This article thus contributes to the broader discussion on the role of intellectuals in the public sphere and the boundaries of (public) sociology.

Exploring the Skills Prioritised in the Assessment of Students Pursuing Adult Nursing, Post-COVID: A Qualitative Analysis.

To explore comments made by registered nurse practice assessors during the clinical assessment of students pursuing adult nursing. Student nurses are entering a workforce that has changed professional and educational nursing practice systems due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Limited placement learning during lockdowns reduced opportunities for students to practise clinical skills in person. However, the current state of practice assessment for students pursuing adult nursing, particularly post-COVID, has yet to be explored. Qualitative content analysis. Data were collected from the online assessment documentation of second-year BSc students pursuing adult nursing. A qualitative content analysis was performed to analyse comments made by qualified adult nurses who are positioned as clinical practice assessors for students pursuing adult nursing. COREQ reporting guidelines were followed. Two main themes were identified: (1) task-focussed competencies and (2) relational aspects of care. Task-focussed competencies included 'technically complex physical health skills' with an emphasis on specialist clinical interventions and procedures. Relational aspects of care included values-based attributes such as compassion and empathy. However, relational aspects of care were noted less frequently. Comments related to communication skills and values-based care were less diverse than those relating to technical tasks and the language used was perfunctory. Adult nursing assessments emphasise technical, task-focused competencies, with less attention given to relational skills like compassion and communication. To address this gap, nursing education must better integrate relational and technical competencies, enhancing patient care and supporting nurses' mental health and wellbeing for a more holistic post-pandemic nursing practice. Results suggest an increased focus on the development of relational skills is needed for students pursuing adult nursing. No patient or public contribution.

What Makes an Instagram Story a Persuasive Digital Story?: Evidencing through the Core Elements of Digital Storytelling

The explosive growth of Web 2.0 technologies, such as social media, has given rise to new manifestations of digital storytelling. In contrast to traditional digital storytelling, new storytelling methods allow the incorporation of various media components into digital stories. As a result, the meaning of digital stories can be interpreted differently depending on the medium in which they are presented. Furthermore, digital storytelling can be translated into Web 2.0 media storytelling or sometimes as social media storytelling, which is becoming more exciting and vital as digital stories in such media grow exponentially. This study paves the way for investigating how the digital storytelling elements proposed by Lambert and Hessler (2018) manifest on Instagram stories, a popular social media tool, to make them persuasive digital stories. 3042 Instagram stories were observed from 15 influencers and sampled 500 digital stories. The sample stories were put through Qualitative Content Analysis (QCA) to explore the elements. The findings are interpreted through the Extended Elaborative Likelihood model (E-ELM) and “Behaviour model in the context of online social networks” as to how the persuasion occurs through the identified elements. The results showed a significant alignment of Instagram stories with the core components of digital storytelling, making them persuasive. The findings are expected to justify the acceptability of using ephemeral social media stories as persuasive digital stories for academic and industrial endeavours.

A QUALITATIVE STUDY ON THE REFLECTIONS OF TURKISH TV SERIES IN IRANIAN NEWSPAPERS

Media products such as television series have an important function in changing and transforming the mindset of society and directing and focusing social perception on certain points. Türkiye is one of the leading countries in the world in terms of TV series exports. Turkish TV series are widely followed in Iran, too. This study aims to understand the effects of Turkish TV series on Iranian society through newspaper reports. The study utilizes the concept of soft power proposed by political scientist Joseph Nye and George Gerbner's cultivation theory. The data set of the study consists of news articles on Turkish TV series taken from the websites of four major national newspapers in Iran. Qualitative content analysis was used to interpret the data and two themes were obtained: Debates on the Effects of Turkish TV Series on Family Institution and Gender Roles, and Debates on the Soft Power Generated by Turkish TV Series and the Political Effects of these TV Series. The prominence of the image of Western women in Turkish TV series in the context of family and gender roles and its importance in terms of upbringing theory is one of the results obtained in the study. It was also concluded that the image of "Türkiye that looks Western when viewed from the East" is reinforced through Turkish TV series. Another conclusion of the study is that Turkish TV series, as an element of soft power, strengthens the image of the country not only in Iran but also worldwide.

HTA in Germany: basics in practice and education

The aim. The aim of the investigation was to elucidate the HTA system's development process and its educational component by studying the basic functions and options of services that are responsible for its functioning in Germany. Material and methods. Official sites of government and non-government non-profit organizations and government publications in specialized open sources have been used. Research methods include mostly descriptive approaches and methods for collecting data: observation, generalization data, graphics and methods for analyzing data: qualitative content analysis. Results. The creation of the HTA system in Germany has been ongoing since 1994. State institutions responsible for HTA have changed, and their areas of responsibility and control have been reformatted. Today, 5 institutions/organizations that ensure the effective functioning of the HTA in Germany are presented. A basic training program aimed at training executors (reporters) and decision-makers is presented. A grid of 7 basic competencies in HTA education in Germany is presented. The program is presented in 10 modules, which are grouped by the authors into three cycles: Fundamental (Modules 1-6), Methodological (M. 7-9) and final cycles (M. 10). Conclusions. To build or improve the HTA system, attention should be paid to the periodicity of updating information, which will contribute to a more accurate identification (satisfaction) of the needs of the country's HTA, both from the standpoint of implementation and ensuring applied functioning, and for the educational component of the HTA process. Constant review and assessment of the need/basic scope of the national HTA and stakeholders. The best way to do this is to study existing models and mechanisms of HTA in countries with the most developed and advanced healthcare systems

‘For all, by all, with all’: Directors and programme planners as co-creators of racism-critical organisational development in adult education

This article analyses how directors and programme planners at the German Volkshochschule (adult education centre) support racism-critical organisational development. The data is interpreted with qualitative content analysis and based on five interviews conducted with directors and program planners within one Volkshochschule. In order to research the potential avenues of support, the article employs a theoretical framework based on racism-critical leadership approaches. The article argues that through an interplay of leadership characteristics and leadership actions two forms of support empirically emerge: (1) an organisational guiding principle of education for all, by all and with all and (2) a community-driven programme planning challenging the programme planning table and making communities to curators of their own learning pathways. The findings indicate the central role of directors and programme planners in racism-critical organisational development processes and underscore the necessity of continuous organisational self-critique to address racism.

Analisis Isu Kesehatan Mental Anak Pada Buku Cerita Bilingual Karya Arleen A.

This study aims to identify the representation of mental health values in bilingual storybooks written by Arleen A., intended for children aged 6 to 12 years. The method employed is qualitative content analysis, as outlined by Krippendorff, which is an interpretive technique used to uncover meaning within texts by tracing emerging themes, patterns, and messages. Data collection followed several steps: selecting relevant texts, repeated readings, coding narrative elements related to mental health, and categorizing themes based on indicators developed by Marie Jahoda, which were previously validated by experts in child psychology and education. The findings reveal that 70% of the stories reflect positive values of self-acceptance. However, only 20% of the stories demonstrate healthy emotional regulation, and just 10% depict empathy or the resolution of social conflicts. Furthermore, there were no explicit narratives addressing the issue of bullying in any of the stories analyzed. These results suggest that while bilingual storybooks hold potential as a medium for promoting children's mental health literacy, there is a significant need to strengthen the representation of more complex and contextual social-emotional issues. Enhancing these dimensions can better support children’s psychosocial development and equip them with the emotional and social skills necessary to navigate real-life challenges.

Self-positioning in the context of double duty caregiving-Secondary analysis of ascoping review.

The needs and support requirements of double duty caregivers (DDC) by healthcare professionals differ depending on whether they identify themselves as aprofessional nurse or family caregiver in private care arrangements. Questions of identity are usually not addressed by the DDCs. Resulting misunderstandings have the potential for conflict, which places additional strain on DDCs. The aim of this article is to present the essential characteristics of DDCs based on amodel corresponding to their identity either as aprofessional nurse or family caregiver in aprivate care arrangement. A secondary analysis of 32articles identified after asystematic literature search for ascoping review on the topic was carried out. Atotal of 18articles were included in the qualitative content analysis according to Kuckartz and Rädiker. Amodel of Continuum of Self-Positioning of Double Duty Caregivers was developed. It describes the characteristics DDCs show in four contexts: caregiving context, family context, healthcare system context, own workplace. Depending on the understanding of their own role in the different care settings, they are able to develop abetter understanding of their identity either as aprofessional nurse or family caregiver, whereby the transitions are fluid. There are characteristics that can be assigned to the respective presumed identity of the DDCs. Knowing this enables healthcare professionals and family members to interact appropriately with DDCs and thus minimize the potential for conflict.

Soil Conservation from Scientific and Islamic Perspective

The problem of soil erosion and degradation has become a serious global issue that can threaten the environment, economic, and humans, signaling that soil conservation is a need. In this study, the approaches for soil conservation are examined from both an Islamic and a scientific angle. It looks at Islamic fiqh's guiding principles and teachings that place an emphasis on sustainable practises and good stewardship of soil resources. To find evidence-based strategies that support Islamic principles, scientific knowledge, and expertise in soil science and land management are also reviewed. In order to improve soil health and fertility, the study emphasises the significance of combining stewardship, over exploitation, and environmental harm avoidance into land management and agricultural practises. Combining Islamic and scientific viewpoints offers a comprehensive strategy for soil preservation that takes into account both ethical and ecological issues. Hence, this study is conducted by qualitative literature review methods in collecting data and information, while data analysis methods used are qualitative content analysis and comparative analysis method.

'Accumulating harm and waiting for crisis': Parents' perspectives of accessing Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services for their autistic child experiencing mental health difficulties.

Autistic children and young people are at increased risk of mental health difficulties, but often face barriers when seeking help from Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services. This study aimed to (1) explore the experiences of parents/carers seeking help from Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services for their autistic child's mental health difficulties, and (2) gain parents' perceptions of the accessibility of Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services for their child. A mixed-methods survey design was used. In total, 300 parents/carers took part from across the United Kingdom. Quantitative data were analysed using descriptive statistics, and qualitative data using qualitative content analysis. Findings demonstrated ongoing struggles that parents/carers faced when seeking help from Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services. Those who were referred reported a lack of reasonable adjustments and offers of ineffective or inappropriate therapies. Ultimately, parents felt their child's mental health difficulties either did not improve or declined to the point of crisis. However, there was a recognition that some professionals were kind and compassionate. There is a need for a more neuro-inclusive and personalised approach in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services. Further research, funding and training are urgently needed to ensure support is accessible, timely and effective for autistic young people.Lay abstractAutistic children and young people are more likely to experience mental health difficulties than neurotypical peers, but also face more barriers when seeking help from Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services. Findings highlight the need for a more neuroaffirmative approach from the professionals themselves, in the adjustments offered, and in the therapies provided. Barriers to Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services for autistic children and young people include diagnostic overshadowing (i.e. assuming mental health difficulties are part of autism), high thresholds for assessment and a lack of professional knowledge about autism and care pathways. Healthcare policies should ensure that all Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services professionals receive neuroaffirmative training and that resources/funding are provided for appropriate adjustments and early support. There is also a need for further research and funding to develop and evaluate effective neuroaffirmative therapeutic interventions.

Hero Melayu: Pemerihalan Maskuliniti, Penampilan Diri dan Isu-Isu Popular Terpilih dalam Media Sosial

This article re-examines the concept of a Malay hero and its interpretation through selected popular issues in social media. The common description and concept of a Malay hero usually focuses on aspects of masculinity. These are highlighted through various popular texts of the Malay society, including traditional hikayat, until the emergence of the era of print media, film, and broadcast media. However, the ability of social media to display popular images and texts without limits has created a new space for continuous debate and discussion on the masculinity of current Malay heroes. This study employs qualitative content analysis methods and argues that self-appearances based on admirable behaviour, physical fitness, and strength, as well as ethical loyalty, have added a new narrative to the masculinity description of the Malay hero. As a result, the concept of the Malay hero as a cultural institution is constantly changing based on the prominence of selected popular issues, celebrity status, and the influence of the mass media. Other than that, the findings of this study illustrate the important role of social media as the main platform to debate and re-interpret the concept of a hero, particularly through self-appearances in contemporary Malaysia.

Documented Meranaw Folktales of Lanao: An Archival Collection and Study for Instructional Materials

Meranaw folk literature is a rich collection of folktales, myths, legends, fables, riddles, epics, and proverbs. The primary objective of this research is to gather, organize, and analyze documented Meranaw folktales from Lanao to preserve and enhance the understanding of these oral traditions. As a vital component of the region's cultural heritage, Meranaw folktales offer profound insights into the values, beliefs, and social conventions of the Meranaw community. Despite their cultural significance, these narratives have often been overlooked in scholarly research due to their dispersal across various archival sources. The study employed a mixed-methods approach, utilizing qualitative content analysis and quantitative data collection. Archival research was conducted to compile data on documented Meranaw folktales, with data collection taking place at various locations in Lanao del Sur, where narrative texts are preserved, followed by content analysis to categorize themes and cultural elements present in the folktales. The quantitative analysis identified the number and distribution of folktales across reference materials. The findings revealed a total of 143 documented Meranaw folktales, which were published and distributed across six reference materials. Based on the analysis, the researcher developed instructional materials, explicitly reading resources derived from Meranaw folktales, supplemented with a glossary, illustrations, and learning activities to serve as educational aids for Mother Tongue and literature subjects.

Flouting of Grice’s Maxims in Creating Humor in "Steve TV Show” YouTube Clips

This study examines how the violation of Grice’s cooperative maxims—quantity, quality, relation, and manner—elicits humor in YouTube clips from Steve Harvey’s TV Show. Using a qualitative content analysis approach, this research analyzes social media data from the show’s YouTube channel. The analysis applies a pragmatic identity framework and follows the data analysis techniques outlined by Miles and Huberman (1984). Key findings reveal how different types of maxim violations, influenced by contextual factors, contribute to humor production in a talk show format. This study offers valuable insights into the role of conversational implicature in humor, particularly within contemporary media, and contributes to the broader field of discourse analysis and humor studies. By examining how humor is constructed through maxim flouting, the research highlights its implications for understanding humor in digital media and its cultural significance in global media contexts.
