Compatibility of the English Needs of Automation and Office Governance Majors Students to The 2013 English Curriculum

English teaching in Vocational High School can be taken into account as English for Specific Purposes (ESP) since vocational education aims to prepare students to be a professional in the specific field of work. ESP is designed according to the needs and purposes of the learners in learning the targeted-language. This paper aims to check whether the latest 2013 English curriculum has met the vocational high school students’ needs or not. This study was done in a public vocational high school in Blora regency, Central Java. The data was collected by using observation checklist, questionnaires, and study document. The observation was done to investigate the practice of the 2013 English curriculum in the Automation and Office Governance Major. The questionnaires were given to the students, graduates, and users of graduates to analysis the English needs. Study documents were used to confirm whether the practice and documents prepared by the English teacher is suitable with the curriculum or not.

Development of Blended Learning Radio and Television System Engineering on Audio-Video Engineering Expertise Competence

The explanation of the National Education System Law Number 20 concerning the National Education System (2003) states that vocational education is secondary education that prepares students to work in specific fields. This study aims to compile test the feasibility, validity, and effectiveness of the Blended Learning model in Radio and Television System Implementation (PSRT) in the competence of Audio-Video Engineering expertise at Public Vocational High School 3 Semarang. Research and development use the analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation (ADDIE) model. This research aims to describe in detail the stages of planning, implementation, and effectiveness of the blended learning model. It shows that learning using the flipped classroom blended learning model can improve student outcomes. In general, learning activities have been carried out correctly and optimally. This can be seen from the results of the average implementation of meeting 1 = 83 (good category), meeting 2 = 85 (good category), meeting 3 = 88 (very good category), and meeting 4 = 90 (very good category). The average is 86.5, with a good category if taken based on the results above. An average of 86.5 shows that the implementation of learning with the blended learning flipped classroom model in the PSRT class XI subject of Audio Video Engineering Competence at Public Vocational High School 3 Semarang has been successfully implemented. The assessment of critical aspects of the blended learning model by learning model experts shows that learning planning with the blended learning model is feasible and can be used to implement PSRT learning activities in class XI of audio-video engineering competence because it has met the criteria for implementing blended learning by covering 5 (five) keys to blended learning, namely live events, self-paced learning, collaboration, assessment, and performance support materials. Learning with the blended learning model is declared to be effective and well implemented, as can be seen from the results of increasing student learning outcomes. Learning with the blended learning model has proven to be effective in terms of learning outcomes of the PSRT that uses the blended learning model >75. There is a significant difference in learning outcomes between the group using the blended learning model and the group not using the blended learning model. The process of increasing student activity and motivation becomes better.

Learning Management for Productive Technical and Motorcycle Business Subjects at Public Vocational High School 1 Warungasem

This research was motivated in the midst of limited face-to-face learning restrictions that took place during the covid 19 pandemic, but the Warungasem State Vocational High School 1 was still able to excel in the Student Skills Competition at the Central Java Province, by winning 2nd place for the bicycle engineering and business competition. Motorcycle. This study aims to determine the Learning Management of Productive Subjects of Motorcycle Engineering and Business at Public Vocational High School 1 Warungasem. This study uses qualitative research methods, located at the Public Vocational High School 1 Warungasem. Research time in July 2022. Data collection techniques with the method of observation, interviews, and documentation. Test the validity of the data using triangulation. Data analysis includes: data collection, data condensation, data presentation and drawing conclusions. Research results 1) Planning includes (a) preparing the vision, mission and objectives of skill competence (b) preparing work programs (c) preparing planning for productive practice tools and budgets (d) planning for industrial work practices (e) preparing plans for skill competency tests. 2) Organizing includes: (a) formation of management, (b) division of work tasks according to their respective potentials, (c) standard SOPs for implementing tasks (d) coordination and communication in all fields. 3) Implementation includes: (a) theoretical learning in the classroom and (b) practical learning in practice rooms and industrial internships. 4) Supervision includes: (a) internal supervision is carried out by the Principal, and the Deputy Head of Curriculum. Job Maturity in Improving Teacher Performance at Public Vocational High School 1 Ketapang

This study aims to determine: 1) Want to know and analyze the performance of masters at Public Vocational School 1 Ketapang in carrying out their duties as masters; 2) Want to know and analyze what work maturity can improve master's performance at Public Vocational School 1 Ketapang; 3) Want to know and analyze the efforts made by the master of Public Vocational School 1 Ketapang in improving performance as a master. Measurement in this study using qualitative methods. The results and analysis show that: 1) Based on the results of observations, interviews, and documentation studies conducted by researchers on informants (research subjects), namely the masters of State Vocational High Schools, it shows that the masters have met several assessment indicators for each aspect. 2) Based on the results of the research on the masters of Public Vocational School 1 Ketapang above, it shows that the performance of the masters of Public Vocational School 1 Ketapang in terms of professional competence is in the fairly good category. This is because the master has fulfilled several assessment indicators in mastering the material, structure, concept, and scientific mindset that supports the subject, developing creatively guided subject matter, continuing professional development by taking reflective actions and utilizing information and communication technology to develop themselves. 3) Efforts made by the master of Public Vocational School 1 Ketapang in improving performance as a master, from the learning outcomes, namely by carrying out their duties as well as possible and continuing to improve pedagogic and professional competencies.

PREPARING FOR NEW LEARNING: PUBLIC VOCATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS’ AND TEACHERS’ E-LEARNING READINESS SINGARAJA IN THE EFL INSTRUCTION

This study aimed to find out 1) the e-learning readiness level of students and teachers in Public Vocational High School Singaraja and 2) factors affecting teachers’ and students’ e-learning readiness level of Public Vocational High School Singaraja. It designed using mixed method through survey instrument consists of 3 dimensions (e-learning readiness, e-learning acceptance, e-learning training) and interview guide. The instruments validated by the experts and gained 0.666 from 70 students’ sample and 0.231 from 7 teachers’ sample. The reliability was 0.988 0.666 of 35 items and 0.933 0.231 of 38 items. The survey filled by 410 students and 15 English teachers meanwhile the interview answered by 10 students and 5 English teachers. The questionnaires showed they still need few improvements meanwhile interview results shown their e-learning readiness affected by features, benefits, challenges, familiarity, experience and personal innovativeness. Those results showing that e-learning benefits improve their readiness meanwhile e-learning challenges could lower the users’ readiness. It is considered to improve their readiness by reducing e-learning challenges to create comfortable e-learning access.

Optimizing Special Job Fairs in the Tracer Study of Public Vocational High School

The paper aims to describe the effort to optimize special job fairs in the tracer study conducted by Public Vocational High School (PVHS). This was a literature review using the content analysis method, in which the researcher reviewed some research and studies published in both national and international journals and other written works relevant to the topic of this article, namely optimalizing Special Job Fairs in VET tracer studies. The result of the review showed that the unemployment rate of VHS graduates was higher than that of other educational institutions. One of the causal factors behind this poor condition was the fact that those graduates had difficulty making steps in building their career after graduation. This suggested the need for the optimization of special job fairs as events held to provide strategic direction and illustration of what VHS students should do after graduation. Fostering Students’ Speaking Ability through English Club Activities

This research aimed to describe a Community Language Learning (CLL) program, the English Club (E-Club), activities and their impacts to enhance the students’ speaking ability. This study employed a descriptive qualitative research method. To gather the data, the researchers administered questionnaires to twenty-seven eleventh-grade students who participated in the E-Club at Public Vocational High School (SMKN) 1 Sooko, Malang, East Java, Indonesia. Then, the researchers interviewed five students and one teacher to expand on the information received. The data analysis operated were gathering data, displaying data, and drawing conclusions. The research’s data reliability was checked through data triangulation. The findings showed that E-Club activities were speech, storytelling, group discussion, and reading aloud. Following the implementation of these activities, the students’ speaking abilities including grammatical accuracy, vocabulary mastery, pronunciation ability, fluidity, and ability to organize concept in speaking had increased. Moreover, students experienced low anxiety and possessed higher English learning interest. These positive impacts were resulted by the role of teacher to prepare suitable teaching methods and to create positive learning environment. Henceforth, this research urges the importance of planning before implementing English program and adopting similar activities to escalate students’ speaking ability.

Being Real on Instagram Reels: An Authentic Tool to Enhance English Speaking Skills

As technology rapidly develops new features, empirical testing of their capability to assist in educational purposes are always needed. This study takes a look at Instagram Reels, which is seldom explored as a language teaching tool, especially for vocational high school students. This study aims at describing students’ perceptions, challenges, and strategies in using Instagram reels as an authentic tool for improving speaking skills. The research used descriptive qualitative research methods. The subjects of the study were five eleventh-grade students from one of the public vocational high schools in Bali, Indonesia. They were selected by conducting a purposive sampling technique. The observation and interview were conducted to collect data. The findings show that a) the perceptions of students on the implementation of Instagram reels to improve speaking skills were favorable. Most students agreed that implementing Instagram reels as an authentic tool in speaking was adaptable, effective, and authentic. It also increased the students’ speaking abilities, which were referred to as positive attitudes. Instagram reels boosted students’ consciousness, motivation, and enhancing their vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, accent, and cultural knowledge. b) Students faced a variety of challenges when using Instagram reels as a learning medium, such as limited internet access and a lack of digital literacy. To overcome the challenges, students used some strategies, namely using WIFI facilities at school or other public places, practicing a lot, and seeking additional information to improve digital literacy skills using Instagram reels.

COMPETENCY AND PERFORMANCE OF CERTIFIED PRODUCTIVE TEACHERS OF VOCATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL

This study aims to describe and compare the competency and performance of productive teachers at Public Vocational High Schools in Kendari City. This research is a comparative descriptive quantitative study with descriptive statistical analysis and Kruskal-Wallis analysis for the comparative test. The number of samples was as many as 123 people who were determined using a purposive sampling technique based on certain criteria. The results of the study showed that there is no significant difference in the average competency of teachers based on certification, while there is a significant difference in the average performance of teachers based on certification, where teachers who have been certified through the PPG program have the highest average. The group of teachers who had been certified through the PLPG program had the second-highest average rank, while productive teachers who had not been certified had the lowest average competency. Furthermore, there is no significant difference in the average competency and performance of teachers based on tenure categories. Teachers with a working tenure of 0 to 15 years have a higher average performance than teachers with a working tenure of 16 to 25 years. Teachers with a working tenure of 26 to 40 years have the highest average performance.

Facilitating EFL Students’ Development of Speaking Skills through Cue Card Media

This paper aims to investigate the use of Cue Card Media to facilitate the improvement in the English speaking competence through storytelling based on the recount text at the grade 10 students of SMK 1 public vocational high school using Cue Card Media. This Classroom Action Research employed four main stages by Kemmis and McTaggart’s (2014) model, including planning, action, observation, and reflection. The present proposed CAR study was undertaken at the SMK 1 public vocational high school Gorontalo as the site for this study, with the grade ten students majoring the program stream of travel business or Usaha Perjalanan Wisata (henceforth UPW) being the subject of this study. The data in this research were collected by using several instruments, to include checklist observation, questionnaire, and speaking test. Further, the analysis reports of this CAR study relied heavily upon the qualitative interpretation, whilst quantitative served to strengthen the qualitative data interpretations. The results found that the application of the Cue Card successfully enhanced students’ speaking skills by 26.28% statistically, with 55.56% in the first cycle and 81.84% in the second cycle. Following the open-ended survey questionnaires, it appeared that due to the efficacy of Cue Cards, these attractive speaking media benefitted students when it comes to speaking performance activities, yet the drawbacks of Cue Card learning media in speaking were also recognized. Discussions as to how Cue Cards may develop the practice of speaking instruction were also provided. This study adds to the growing pool of literature on the Cue Card implementation in the teaching of speaking skills in English.

Learning Management System Acceptance Rate Among Vocational School Physics’ Student

Learning management systems (LMS) have become a key component of teaching and learning in schools. However, the evaluation of student acceptance rates on its implementation so far has not been widely reported. Therefore, this study aims to evaluate the acceptance rate of LMS among students in terms of gender and grade level. The level of student acceptance of the LMS in administration through an online survey using Google forms. A total of 141 students who took physics subjects from class XI and XII, one of the vocational high schools were involved. Acceptance of the LMS uses a 21-item LMSAS (Learning Management System Acceptability Scale) developed by Sezer and Yilmaz in 2019. The LMSAS uses a 5-point Likert scale, from 1 (Strongly Disagree) to 5 (Strongly Agree). LMS acceptance components include Performance Expectancy (PE), Effort Expectancy (EE), Facilitating Condition (FC), and Social Influence (SI). Wright map and Logit Value of Person (LVP) were used to assess LMS acceptance among students. The analysis results show that student acceptance of the LMS is distributed chiefly at a good level of acceptance. As many as 84% of students received the LMS. Based on gender, 65% of male students are quite accepting of the LMS. Based on class, class XII students are more dominant (35.5%) receiving LMS. Thus, most students in public vocational high schools welcome the LMS well.

Character Education Integration in Distance Learning System Based on Multiple Intelligence Theory: Case Study at SMKN 2 Malang

This study aims to determine how the strategies carried out by Public Vocational High Schools in Malang City, Indonesia, implement character education in the distance learning system. This research occurred at the 2nd PublicVocational High School (SMKN 2 Malang), Computer and Network Engineering Department. The design of this research is an interactive qualitative analysis model, i.e., reduction, data presentation, and deduction. Data collection techniques are in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation for six months. Data documentation consists of diagnostic tests, Learning Management System (LMS) screenshots, and discipline time records during distance learning. This study shows that from knowledge aspect, teachers can understand students' character well so that the application of multiple intelligence strategies by utilizing diagnostic tests and LMS can be realized. However, the implementation of character education often experiences problems or lacks student technical support, so its implementation is carried out consistently by incorporating character values in every learning activity. This study recommends that observation activities be carried out when learning activities need to be optimized with synchronous learning activities.

THE EFFECT OF STUDENTS SOCIAL INTERACTION ON THEIR LEARNING MOTIVATION DURING DISTANCE LEARNING TO MODELING AND BUILDING INFORMATION DESIGN PROGRAM (MBID) STUDENTS AT PUBLIC VOCATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL (PVHS) IN BANDUNG

Thesis with the title “The Effect of Students Social Interaction on Their Learning Motivation During Distance Learning to Modeling and Building Information Design Program (MBID) Students at Public Vocational High School (PVHS) in Bandung” is a research during distance learning that observe about students social interaction and their learning motivation in case of MBID program students at PVHS in Bandung. Distance learning performs with online and offline learning that be adapted by government regulations of pandemic learning situation. Its impact the change of social interaction on learning process as online learning from home and offline learning at school with Covid-19 protocol. This change is during distance learning involve students interaction would change with their teachers, their parents, and the other students. It can affect the students learning motivation, to their intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. This thesis is using quantitative method by questionnaire spread with likert scale, it’s analyzed with compare means and simple regression analysis. The result is indicate the students social interaction and their learning motivation in a good category with each means score 3.75 and 3.76, it also points there is effect of students social interaction on their learning motivation with the value until 63.7%.

Implementasi Metode K-Means Sebagai Upaya Penentuan Lokasi Promosi Penerimaan Siswa Baru

Smart Study Center is a computer course located in Kisaran City, Asahan Regency, North Sumatra Province. This computer-based course has promoted to various places, especially around Kisaran City. But sometimes there are obstacles in doing this, because it is not easy to determine the location of the promotion quickly and precisely. Promotion is the communication of information between sellers and potential buyers or others in the channel to influence attitudes and behavior. In addition, the application of information technology in the field of promotion can facilitate the management of information which, if processed properly, can produce new knowledge that is very useful in making future decisions. It takes research and consideration of many aspects which of course will take a lot of time. The majority of the Smart Study Center Kisaran students come from various public and private vocational high schools and high schools in Kisaran City and its surroundings. This is certainly one of the important factors to promote the acceptance of new students in an effort to increase the number of new students every year. With the application of data mining using the K-Means Clustering method on the acceptance of new students in the Smart Study Center Kisaran course by grouping research object items based on their similarity in nature, so that information will be obtained about which areas have high potential to bring in new students. K-Means Clustering can group large enough data quickly and accurately so that decision making in determining the location of the promotion in the next year can be done effectively and efficiently. The data attributes used in this study are the names of majors such as, TKJ, RPL, and Ms Office. The result of this system is the determination of the location of the promotion with 2 clusters i.e. feasible (C1) and unfit (C2)

Factors Affecting Students in the Kampung Bahasa Program at Public Vocational High School 1 of Boyolangu During Covid Pandemic

The Kampung Bahasa Program at vocational high schools are developed to get students used to English speaking at the school. Unfortunately, the number of students interested in joining the program decreased significantly during the pandemic. This research tried to identify main factors influencing students interest in the Kampung Bahasa Program at Public Vocational High School 1 of Boyolangu during covid pandemic. This was descriptive research using a qualitative approach. The data in this research were collected using some techniques including interviews, observation, and documentation. The data analyzed by interactive technique. The result of the research showed that internal factors affecting students in the Kampung Bahasa Program were the physiological factor which caused most students to be afraid of being infected with covid and the psychological factor that explained students’ need for English communication, on the one hand, and, on the other hand, their shyness in English communication. The external factors included familial support, socio-economic backgrounds of students’ family which allowed them to pay the tuition, the role of the English teacher of the tenth grade, and the fact that many fellow students joined the program. In addition, students’ interest in the program was also influenced by the socio-demographic factors.

Improving Skills at Calculating Giro Account Balance Using the Snowball Throwing Model in the Subject of Basic Banking at Public Vocational High School 1 of Boyolangu

The quality of learning needs to be improved periodically, but not all teachers cannot carry out its improvement. An alternative to be developed to overcome this problem by using active learning strategies is what is called the snowball throwing method. The purpose of this research was to know the improvement of skills at calculating giro account balance by implementing the snowball throwing model to the tenth-grade students of Accounting 1 of Public Vocational High School (PVHS) 1 Boyolangu in the academic year of 2019/2020.This was a classroom action research conducted in four stages in three cycles. The four stages included planning, action, observation, and reflection. For the accurate result of the research, the data collected were statistically analyzed using the mean formula. Based on the result of the analysis and observation during action taking, it can be concluded that the implementation of the snowball throwing model to the 2019/2020 tenth-grade students of Accounting 1 of PVHS 1 Boyolangu helped improve their skills at calculating giro account balance. The conclusion was based on the fact that the average score increased from 67.08 in cycle I to 87.22 in cycle II. In the same way, classical learning completeness increases from 55,56% in cycle I to 100 percent in cycle II

Teacher's Experience About the Challenges of Teaching Speaking Online During the Covid-19 Pandemic

Challenge is a meaning of the problem that needs to be solved. This qualitative research aims to find out the challenges teachers face in teaching speaking online during the COVID-19 pandemic and how teachers deal with these challenges. Data was collected by means of semi-structured interviews. Three male and female English teachers from a public vocational high school in Karawang, Indonesia participated in this study. The analysis is carried out through thematic analysis to interpret the data that has been collected. The challenges faced by teachers while teaching speaking online during the covid-19 pandemic, findings reveal that teachers feel challenged by having to adapt to the use of media which will later be used as a tool. Regarding these challenges, the teacher admits that students are less active in speaking in online classes. To overcome this problem, the teacher will give assignments for vocabulary pronunciation so that students have more vocabulary so that students are more confident in speaking. This research is expected to increase awareness of the importance of the teacher's role in addressing the challenges that occur in teaching speaking online in order to improve the quality of teaching and learning English.

Students Perception of Virtual Class-Based E-Learning as a Medium for Financial Accounting Learning

The pandemic of COVID19 has affected education system, especially since the government issued the lockdown policy. However, it does not suspend learning ativities, which constitutes a formidable challenge for both educators and students. The purpose of this research was to know the effectiveness of the distance learning process through the use of Google Classroom in financial accounting class at Public Vocational High School 1 of Pagerwojo, Tulungagung. This was quantitative research using descriptive method and focusing on the evaluation of the learning process through online media. The research population was the eleventh-grade students, majoring in Accountung and Financial Institutions (AFI). The research involved 32 of AFI 1 students as the research sample. The reserach data were colleted using questionnaires, and the data were analyed using descriptive statistics. The research found that the distance learning using Google Classroom is effective enough. This is corroborated by the fact that students prefer Google Classroom to other online media, because they feel that the features of Google Classroom are easy to understand and run.

Implementation of Welding Production Unit Learning Model for Students’ Entrepreneurial Preparedness of Public Vocational High School

Vocational High Schools are expected to produce graduates able to create job vacancies and produce competitive job seekers. For this purpose, they need a special curriculum. One of the applicable learning methods relevant to the need is the creation of production units. By having practical experience in a business unit, vocational students are expected to have a motivation to make entrepreneurial endeavors so that vocational graduates are able to work professionally in the industrial world and work independently as entrepreneurs. This research was a descriptive using the qualitative approach. The data were collected by holding interviews to describe the effectiveness of the production unit of a welding workshop in indicating the entrepreneurial preparedness of the students of Public Vocational High School (PVHS) 2 Tulungagung. The research result showed that the implementation of the learning model for welding production unit affected students’ interest in entrepreneurship and preparedness for it. As many as 55.88 percent of respondents expressed their readiness for entrepreneurship after graduation. However, the welding production unit of PVHS 2 Tulungagung still needed evaluation and improvement especially in their marketing, students’ involvement and the management of financial administration
