Using E-Learning Resources: University Students’ Perspectives

This study aimed to identify the degree of using the e-Learning resources from the perspective of students at a Public University in Jordan (PU). To meet the study’s goals, the researcher adopted the descriptive survey approach and developed an instrument (a questionnaire). The validity and reliability of the questionnaire was checked and then was passed to 410 male and female Bachelor students enrolled at PU for the academic year 2021/2022. The findings of the study found that the degree of using the e-learning resources from the perspective of students at PU is medium. Further, they found that there are statistically significant differences between the means of the aforementioned degree which can be attributed to the academic level for the favor of the students who are in their third year or more. Furthermore, they found that there were no statistically significant differences which can be attributed to gender or faculty. In the light of the study’s results, the researchers recommend the need to provide students with training courses to clarify ways to make optimal use of e-learning resources.

Shaping the future: perspectives on the Integration of Artificial Intelligence in health profession education: a multi-country survey

BackgroundArtificial intelligence (AI) is transforming health profession education (HPE) through personalized learning technologies. HPE students must also learn about AI to understand its impact on healthcare delivery. We examined HPE students’ AI-related knowledge and attitudes, and perceived challenges in integrating AI in HPE.MethodsThis cross-sectional included medical, nursing, physiotherapy, and clinical nutrition students from four public universities in Jordan, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Egypt. Data were collected between February and October 2023 via an online survey that covered five main domains: benefits of AI in healthcare, negative impact on patient trust, negative impact on the future of healthcare professionals, inclusion of AI in HPE curricula, and challenges hindering integration of AI in HPE.ResultsOf 642 participants, 66.4% reported low AI knowledge levels. The UAE had the largest proportion of students with low knowledge (72.7%). The majority (54.4%) of participants had learned about AI outside their curriculum, mainly through social media (66%). Overall, 51.2% expressed positive attitudes toward AI, with Egypt showing the largest proportion of positive attitudes (59.1%). Although most participants viewed AI in healthcare positively (91%), significant variations were observed in other domains. The majority (77.6%) supported integrating AI in HPE, especially in Egypt (82.3%). A perceived negative impact of AI on patient trust was expressed by 43.5% of participants, particularly in Egypt (54.7%). Only 18.1% of participants were concerned about the impact of AI on future healthcare professionals, with the largest proportion from Egypt (33.0%). Some participants (34.4%) perceived AI integration as challenging, notably in the UAE (47.6%). Common barriers included lack of expert training (53%), awareness (50%), and interest in AI (41%).ConclusionThis study clarified key considerations when integrating AI in HPE. Enhancing students’ awareness and fostering innovation in an AI-driven medical landscape are crucial for effectively incorporating AI in HPE curricula.

Mediating role of entrepreneurial self-efficacy on the relationship of entrepreneurial education and personality traits on entrepreneurial intention of universities students

Introduction: Entrepreneurs are critical to the long-term economic success of any country. Researchers considered a variety of aspects attempting to determine the importance of entrepreneurial intentions. Objectives: This study examined the influence of entrepreneurial education and personality traits on entrepreneurial intentions among senior students at Jordanian public universities, with a focus on the role of entrepreneurial self-efficacy as a mediator. Methods: The study sampled 389 students from a population of 30,236 using stratified random sampling and a cross-sectional design. The data were analysed using SmartPLS 3.Results: Entrepreneurial education to entrepreneurial intention (0.329), personality traits to entrepreneurial intention (0.228), entrepreneurial self-efficacy to entrepreneurial intention (0.435), entrepreneurial education to entrepreneurial self-efficacy (0.550), and personality traits to entrepreneurial self-efficacy (0.338). Both entrepreneurial intention (R Square=0.727, Q Square=0.514) and entrepreneurial self-efficacy (R Square=0.577, Q Square=0.392) exhibited strong predictive power and large predictive relevance according to the results of this study. Conclusions: These results suggested that universities should incorporate entrepreneurial education and personality development into their curricula in order to effectively foster entrepreneurial intentions. Thus, the research contributed to the academic understanding of the complex interplay between these variables and provides practical suggestions for educational institutions seeking to foster entrepreneurial intentions

The Degree of Fear of Losing the Phone (Nomophobia) Among Visually Impaired Jordanian University Students

The study aimed to identify the degree of fear of losing the phone (Nomophobia) among students with visual impairment enrolled in Jordanian universities. In contrast, the study consisted of (300) male and female students with visual impairment enrolled in Jordanian public universities. To achieve the objectives of this study, the researchers used the nomophobia scale; the results showed that the prevalence of Nomophobia among Jordanian university students with visual impairment was high. The research found a substantial dependence on mobile phones, with an average score of 3.70, suggesting a high level of anxiety regarding the potential loss of phone connectivity. Anxiety feelings were recorded when people's ability to communicate with loved ones was interrupted; the highest reported score was 4.40. When looking at gender, academic year, and degree, there were noticeable variances. The average Nomophobia score was 3.98 for females and 4.00 for males; the most significant levels were seen among first-year students. Students with visual impairments may be more or less dependent on mobile technology, depending on their level of education; students with a diploma or less had the most significant levels of Nomophobia (average score: 3.97).

Nursing students' perceptions of the qualities of clinical instructors in a public university in Jordan: A qualitative study.

Nursing clinical education is a key to developing nursing students' knowledge, skills, and competencies. Few studies have attempted to explore students' perceptions regarding the qualities of effective clinical instructors. The current study aims to explore nursing students' perceptions of effective clinical instructors' qualities in Jordan. A qualitative exploratory approach was used to deepen our understanding of nursing students' perceptions of effective clinical instructors' qualities. A total of 21 nursing students were involved, and data were collected from June to August 2023. Data were analyzed using the thematic analysis approach. The thematic analysis revealed two main themes. The first theme was professional qualities, comprising four subthemes: professional knowledge and experience, acting as a role model, performing as a caring one, and assembling effective communication. The second theme was building a good rapport. The findings demonstrated that clinical instructor qualities impacted how students perceived their teaching effectiveness, and they identified professional knowledge and competence as crucial qualities of an effective clinical instructor. It was acknowledged that caring behaviors and effective communication skills were essential behavioral attributes for clinical instructors. Nursing students have valued particular characteristics of effective clinical instructors. These characteristics were knowledge, caring, relationships, role models, and communication. Further research is needed to validate the study's findings.

Behind the designs: An exploration of sustainability attitudes among interior design students in Jordan

This research is an attempt to understand where interior design students in Jordan and the Middle East Region stand in the sustainable thinking process through education and practice and if their education on sustainability and environmental issues is enough or if it needs more development in terms of interior design programs curriculums to be more effective sustainable interior designers. The survey instrument was used to assess the attitudes of interior design students toward ecological responsibility and environmental sustainability; a modified New Ecological Paradigm Scale (NEP) was used in this research. Students enrolled in interior design programs at a Northern Jordanian university were surveyed. The sample comprised 160 interior design students from different levels of an interior design program at a public university in Jordan. In the study’s sample, the students showed more interest in the negative effect of human usage of many of the planet's resources and how this will impact the planet's ecological system. This attitude provides insight into the students’ minds regarding where they have those ideas. As design students, this can motivate them to take a proactive stand toward sustainability, which may be done through their projects in the future. However, many participants did not understand sustainable practices and strategies. This can be due to the lack of sustainability training at the university level.Based on the NEP score distribution in each section, it can be concluded that students support the concept of sustainability and reject the destruction happening to the planet. This data shows an increased awareness of environmental and ecological problems, which can positively push design students and future designers to adapt sustainable design strategies to their projects.

Role of Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) in Student Academic Outcomes of Jordanian Public Universities

Objectives: Well-being-centered teaching approaches, including social-emotional learning, have recently gained a prominent global position due to their close association with developing the educational climate and their reflection on students’ academic outcomes. Accordingly, this research explores the role of social-emotional learning in students’ academic outcomes in Jordanian public universities. Methods: Data were collected using a comprehensive survey that included 10 Jordanian public universities. The study sample consisted of 541 students from different majors and degrees in those universities. The research followed an analytical approach based on structural equation modeling (SEM) to verify the validity and reliability of the measurement model, in addition to testing the hypotheses. Results: The research concluded that all dimensions of social-emotional learning positively affect students’ academic outcomes, especially self-management, which achieved the highest impact factor. Conclusions: The research provided a set of practical implications for educational policymakers in Jordan based on developing workshops and training courses that enhance the ability of faculty members to follow an approach focused on addressing behavioral and emotional aspects, in conjunction with developing students’ cognitive skills. This research contributes theoretical importance to developing frameworks for the development of educational development in developing countries. Moreover, it provides reliable empirical evidence for developing the global education system to achieve student well-being and improve the quality of education.

Toxic leadership in higher education: a typology of behaviours

ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to create a psychometrically valid and reliable toxic leadership scale (TLS) for use in higher education workplace environments. The TLS was administered to a sample of 482 faculty members employed by three public universities in Jordan. Another aim of the study was to determine the level of toxic leadership based on the perceptions of faculty members. In addition, the current study sought to ascertain how perceptions of toxic leadership varied according to differences in gender, level of education, experience, and academic rank. The findings of the study revealed that the TLS is composed of 15 items spread over three factors named managerial harassment, falsified show, and dictatorship. Results also indicated the presence of toxic leadership in public higher education with a low degree for the managerial harassment factor. However, moderate degrees of toxic leadership were found for the falsified show and dictatorship factors. Regarding the demographics of faculty members, the findings showed that lower academic ranks and less experienced faculty members had lower views of toxic leadership, while men had greater perceptions of toxic leadership. The study provided numerous recommendations for theory development and practitioners in higher education.

The Impact of E-Learning on Learnlng Out Comes at the Jordanian Universities

Objective: The study aims to determine the impact of e-learning on learning outcomes in the Jordanian universities, and the differences in the level of e-learning impact on learning outcomes in light of gender, specialization, years of experience, and academic rank. Theoretical Framework: this study focus on the impact of e-learning on learning outcomes at the Jordanian universities. Method: The study used analytical descriptive design by using a survey to achieve the study objectives, The study population consisted of all faculty members in Jordanian universities. The study sample consisted of (113) faculty members who were selected by random sampling.). Results and Discussion: The study revealed statistically significant differences in the impact of e-learning on learning outcomes at the Jordanian universities due to specialization, in favor of humanities; due to years of experience, in favor of less than 10 years; due to academic rank, in favor of associate professor; while there was no statistically significant difference in light of gender. Research Implications: it attempts to provide a more thorough picture about the situation of e-learning in Jordanian universities and how it may help university administrations develop their technological infrastructure to help faculty members capitalize the various advantages of e-learning as an effective tool for presenting learning materials. platforms. Originality/Value: It also hoped that the results of this study may motivate administrators in Jordanian public and private universities to develop their own learning

The Application Degree of the Jordanian Public Universities of the (QS (World University Rankings Standards and Proposed Educational Policies to Improve their Ranking in this Classification

The study aimed to determine the degree to which Jordanian public universities apply the standards of the World University Rankings (QS) and proposed educational policies to improve their ranking in this world ranking. The descriptive survey methodology was used. The study sample consisted of (285) academic leaders from Jordanian public universities who were selected using a random cluster sampling method. The results of the study indicated that the degree of application of the Jordanian public universities to the standards of the world university rankings (QS) from the point of view of academic leaders was moderate in all five domains of study, which were: academic reputation, scientific research, international dimension, job reputation, and. Academic accreditation. The results also showed that there were no statistically significant differences (α=0.05) between the mean of the study sample members’ perceptions of the degree to which Jordanian public universities apply the standards of the world university rankings (QS) according to the variables of job position and university. In light of the results of the study, a group of educational policies were proposed to improve the ranking of these universities in this world university rankings (QS).

Psychological Flow and its Relationship to Professional Ambition among Expected Graduated Students of Scientific Colleges from Public Jordanian Universities

The purpose of the current study is to identify the level of psychological flow and its relationship to the professional ambition of students of scientific colleges who are expected to graduate from public Jordanian universities. The study sample consisted of (315) male and female students expected to graduate. Two scales were developed: Psychological Flow Scale, and professional ambition, and their psychometric characteristics were verified. The results of the study concluded that there was an average level of psychological flow and professional ambition among students in scientific faculties. It was also found that there was a positive correlational relationship between psychological flow and professional ambition, and they do not differ according to gender. It is necessary to recommend the development of skills and positive phenomena for students.

The Degree of Effectiveness of Administrative Decisions in crisis Management in Formal Jordanian public Universities

The study aimed to identify the degree of effectiveness of administrative decisions in crises management in formal Jordanian public Universities. To achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher used the descriptive survey methodology. The study tool was developed and verified for validity and reality. The study sample was chosen stratified randomly of the study population consisting of the heads of administrative departments at public Jordanian universities.The study sample consisted of the following regions: north (Al-Yarmouk university), south (Mutah university), central (Jordan university). The result of the study showed that the evaluation of the sample for the degre of administrative decisions in the management of crises of public Jordanian Universities, on the whole instrument of the study were medium, also there are statistically significant differences between the sample due to males, human faculties. while the results of the study showed also that there were no statistically significant differences between answers averages due to (age, years of experience).

The relationship between e-marketing mix framework (4Ps) and customer satisfaction with electronic information services: An empirical analysis of Jordanian university libraries

This study employs Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) using Smart PLS 3.2.9 to offer valuable insight into the relationship between e-marketing mix (4Ps) and customer satisfaction with electronic information services provided by public university libraries in Jordan. The identified primary aspects within the e-marketing mix encompass e-product, e-pricing, e-place, and e-promotion. An online survey (questionnaire) targeting postgraduate student respondents at Jordanian public universities (a total of 792 participants) was used to gather data using a quantitative technique. Participants were chosen using voluntary response sampling. The study’s findings revealed that all relevant elements of the e-marketing mix establish significant relationships with customer satisfaction among postgraduate student respondents utilizing e-information services in public university libraries in Jordan. Notably, e-products, e-pricing, and e-promotion demonstrated substantial positive relationships with customer satisfaction. Conversely, there was a negative relationship observed with e-place. The novelty of this study lies in its exploration of the previously unexplored realm of the e-marketing mix framework (4Ps) in the context of customer satisfaction with electronic information services within university libraries in Jordan.

The e-entrepreneurial intentions of Jordanian business students to start an online business in emerging economies: an application of planned behavior theory

PurposeThe purpose of this study is to assess the correlations between the e-entrepreneurial intentions, attitude toward e-entrepreneurship, subjective norms, perceived behavior control, attitude toward risk and entrepreneurial knowledge of Jordanian business students to start an online business and the e-entrepreneurial intention.Design/methodology/approachA sample of 392 undergraduate business students from different Jordanian public and private universities participated in the study. Data were collected using an online survey-based questionnaire (i.e. Google Forms) using emails and social media platforms (i.e. WhatsApp, Facebook, etc.); reliability and validity tests were ensured. This study employs a 50-item questionnaire (distributed online via Google Forms and in two languages) to collect data, utilizing 5-point Likert scales; correlation analysis, linear regression analysis, and structural equation modeling are used to analyze the data.FindingsThe results showed that the e-entrepreneurship intentions of Jordanian business students are significantly predicted by their attitude toward e-entrepreneurship, subjective norms, perceived behavioral control, and entrepreneurial knowledge. One’s attitude toward risk does not influence the ambition to launch an Internet company much. Furthermore, their affiliation does not significantly impact the students' plans to pursue e-entrepreneurship.Practical implicationsThe study has important real-world implications, particularly for Jordan. The country could create more jobs and boost the economy by encouraging students to start online businesses and helping small businesses grow. This is especially important in Jordan, where many people, particularly young adults, struggle to find work. Therefore, true need for interventions to foster e-entrepreneurship among business students in emerging economies like Jordan.Originality/valueThe goal of this research is to examine Jordanian business students' aspirations to launch Internet businesses in developing nations throughout the digital age. The results offer valuable information on the elements influencing the e-entrepreneurial intents of Jordanian business students. This information may be utilized to create programs and policies that effectively encourage e-entrepreneurship in Jordan.

Energy drink consumption among medical students in Jordan - prevalence, attitudes, and associated factors: a cross-sectional study.

Energy drinks (ED) are popular beverages that contain high levels of caffeine, sugar, and other supplements, such as vitamins, which are marketed to enhance mental alertness and physical performance. Studies have shown that energy drink consumption is prevalent among medical students. Therefore, this study aimed to assess the prevalence, attitudes, and factors associated with energy drink consumption among medical students in Jordan. A cross-sectional study was conducted among medical students from six public universities in Jordan. A total of 307 students were included in the study, and data were collected using an expert-validated questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS version 25. The study found that 50% of the sample had consumed ED, half of them started consuming them at the age of 16-18, and learned about them from friends. The primary reasons for consuming ED were to stay awake at night and the majority of them increase their consumption during exams to increase alertness. Regular energy drink consumption was significantly associated with being a student at the university located in the south governorate of Jordan (P=0.021), living alone (P=0.000), drinking alcohol (P=0.049), drinking coffee daily (P=0.043), and consuming more than 10 cans of soft drinks weekly (P=0.001). However, sex, age, academic achievement, and smoking status had no significant association with regular energy drink consumption. Students with regular energy drink consumption experienced daytime sleepiness, decreased concentration, fatigue, and reduced performance more than students with no regular energy drink consumption. The prevalence of energy drink consumption among medical students in Jordan is high, with factors such as social influences, lifestyle behaviors, and academic pressure being significant contributors. This study highlights the need for interventions to promote healthy behaviors and raise awareness about the potential harms of ED among medical students.

Exploring the association between academic procrastination and psychological well-being among university students: A case study of the blended learning model at a public university in Jordan

Blended learning combines traditional education with digital technologies. The current study investigates the levels of academic procrastination and psychological well-being and examines the correlation between these two variables among students in blended learning in a public university in Jordan. The sample encompassed 709 students, consisting of individuals from both genders. The data-gathering procedure involved the utilization of measurement instruments to assess both academic procrastination and psychological well-being. The students exhibited a low level of academic procrastination, pointing toward a positive impact of the blended learning model in their academic environment. This is apparent through the significant rise in their levels of psychological well-being. Intriguingly, an inverse correlation between academic procrastination and psychological well-being was noted. Furthermore, the findings indicated that academic procrastination exerts a detrimental influence on psychological well-being, aligning with the outcomes documented in the literature review, which emphasized how academic procrastination diminishes subjective well-being and reduces overall happiness. This study is confined to a specific university context and the sphere of blended learning, thereby limiting its generalizability to other educational models.

The Degree of Practicing the Standards of the International Society for Technology in Education by Faculty Members in Jordanian and Palestinian Universities

The goal of this study was to evaluate how closely Jordanian and Palestinian university professors follow the recommendations of the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE). Researchers analyzed a population of all academic staff members teaching at private or public universities in Jordan and Palestine using a descriptive-analytical methodology. A sample of 358 persons was chosen. The questionnaire was distributed and assessed the degree to which faculty members in Jordanian and Palestinian universities adhere to the ISTE requirements. It was found that the degree of adherence to the ISTE standards by faculty members in Jordanian and Palestinian universities was very large. However, it was found that there were no statistically significant differences at the level (α≤0.05) in the degree of adherence to the ISTE standards by faculty members in Jordanian and Palestinian universities according to the variables (country and type university). the study identified a number of recommendations for enhancing Palestinian universities, including scholars, professors, and administrators, complies with the standards established by the International Society of Technology. The report also suggests using technology into the teaching and learning process more.

Impact of perceived behavioural control and personality traits on entrepreneurial intention of universities students – mediating role of entrepreneurial self-efficacy

Introduction: Entrepreneurial intentions among students have garnered significant scholarly attention due to its role as a precursor to actual entrepreneurial activity and its potential for economic development. Factors that may affect individuals’ decision to become entrepreneur must be fostered.Objective: The primary objective of this paper is to examine the effect of perceived behavioural control and personality traits on students’ entrepreneurial intentions among final year student in the Jordanian public universities. Besides, the mediating role of entrepreneurial self-efficacy is examined as well. Methods: This research follows quantitative research design. A sample of 389 graduating student from public universities in Jordan was selected by using stratified random sampling technique. SPSS and Smart-PLS SEM are used for the data analysis.Results: The results supported the hypotheses, in which perceived behavioural control has a direct effect of 0.363, indirect effect of 0.225, and total effect of 0.588; besides, personality traits have a direct effect of 0.180, indirect effect of 0.148, and total effect of 0.328. the two variables are important to improve the students’ entrepreneurial intention in Jordan. Conclusion: This paper offers valuable recommendations to stakeholders in the education sectors in Jordanian universities. It will also add to the body of empirical literature on this subject by offering some valuable insight to the policy makers, practitioners as well as researchers to explore the effects of perceived behavioural control, personality traits and the entrepreneurial self-efficacy on the entrepreneurial intent of universities’ students
