Integration and Interconnection of Human Concepts in Islamic and Transpersonal Psychology

This study describes the interconnection of human conceptions in Islamic and transpersonal psychology. The research method used was qualitative with a library research model and e-journal literature that discusses humans from Islamic and transpersonal psychology perspectives. The data collection technique was through documentation. The researchers documented the literature on human and psychological e-journals and then presented them systematically. The data analysis was carried out by data reduction, data presentation, and concluding. The researchers reduced human data and Islamic psychology accessed in e-journals, then systematically presented and analyzed them descriptively-interpretatively. The results revealed that the interconnection of human concepts in Islamic and transpersonal psychology was found in the following points; (1) examining humans in the three dimensions of somatic (body), psychic (mental), and noetic (spiritual); (2) the central theme of theoretical studies; and (3) spiritual awareness (transcendental).

Hubungan Antara Hardiness Dengan Kesiapan Kerja Pada Mahasiswa Psikologi Islam IAIN Kediri Angkatan 2018

Abstract : Students as graduates from universities certainly have more knowledge and skills than the lower levels. However, this does not require that students be ready for the world of work. Students still feel anxious and lack confidence in the world of work, even though they are in the final semester and will graduate from college. If this condition is continued, students will have difficulty competing in the world of work later. Therefore, students may need tough conditions themselves that help to overcome obstacles in themselves as well as obstacles in the world of work, this tough condition is called hardiness. The purpose of this study is to determine the level of hardiness and the level of work readiness as well as to determine the relationship between hardiness and job readiness in Islamic Psychology students of IAIN Kediri class 2018. The subjects of this study amounted to 97 students of Islamic Psychology IAIN Kediri class 2018. As for the sampling technique, Researchers used a non-probability technique, namely accidental sampling. Furthermore, for data processing using the SPSS 20 for windows application using descriptive statistical analysis methods of frequency and non-parametric statistics with Spearman Rho hypothesis testing. Based on this research, it was found that the average student's hardiness level was in the medium category, amounting to 45.4%. The level of student work readiness is in the medium category average of 47.4%. Based on the results of the analysis of Spearman Rho, a score of 0.802 was obtained with a significance value (2 tailed) of 0.000. This statement can be interpreted as Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. Then the correlation value is positive and has very strong criteria, which means that the relationship between hardiness and work readiness is 0.802 and has very strong criteria.

Manajemen Motivasi Islam

Work motivation in Islamic education environment is still floating. On the one hand there are those who have high work motivation but still refer to western motivation theory, while on the other hand they seem to have no work motivation at all. Whereas the majority of the Indonesian population is Muslim, which of course has its own values ​​that are different from the western world, including values ​​about motivation. This study seeks to present a model of motivation development in an Islamic perspective which was carried out at the Al-Mumtaz Islamic Boarding School, Banguntapan, Bantul DIY. This research is afield research, which is qualitative in nature, with quite a lot of additions in exploring the theory. The approach used is management science and Islamic psychology. Obtaining data through the mechanism of interviews, observation, and data documentation. Management of motivation at Pondok Pesantren Al-Mumtaz Banguntapan, Bantul, DIY in general can run well because it is influenced by the main figure (kyai) who is quite competent in his field, has high integrity, has leadership and managerial spirit, and has exemplary (uswatun hasanah).

The Development of Psychological Ideas in Sufi sm: Application of Rumi’s Heritage in Psychological Consulting and Therapy in Turkey

The article discusses the issues on how Sufi sm can be related to modern Psychology, in particular, and on how the ideas of Jalaluddin Rumi are integrated into the psychological knowledge in modern Turkey and on how his works are applied in psychological counseling by modern Turkish psychologists. The article analyzes the main methods of applying Rumi's heritage such as Bibliotherapy and Sema (Dervish dance) as therapeutic methods both in group and individual therapy. Moreover, the paper provides a brief analysis of the seminal works by modern Turkish psychologists who use Sufi poem Masnavi and other texts by Rumi in therapy. As a conclusion, the article states that this approach can also be applied in Russian realities and is of interest to the modern Psychology in Russia for a number of reasons, including the growing interest in Sufi sm in the world; the presence of Sufi communities in Russia, which are actively developing, especially in the Caucasus region; active spread of Islamic Psychology in the world. There is little information on this topic in Russian, most of the papers are published in the Turkish language. Thus, studying the problem within this language will make it possible to fi ll the gaps in this area of research.

Implementation of Expressive Writing Therapy Through Writing Diary Coping Anxiety in Children Victims of Covid-19

Anxiety experienced by the child can be caused by bad life experiences, like the Covid-19 pandemic. This outbreak leads to the children's mental disorders seen from their changing behavior. This study examines the implementation of Expressive Writing Therapy through diary writing to cope with the child's anxiety of the victims of covid-19. The research method used was a literature study to discuss Expressive Writing Therapy through writing a diary. The data collection technique for this study was documentation through inanimate data sources, like the book of child anxiety, journal of expressive writing, and google scholar. The research showed that Expressive Writing Therapy through diary writing could decrease the level of child's anxiety since their parents passed away due to covid-19. Writing a diary can allow the child to channel their emotions into being more positive and sharpen their brain to be more active. Expressive writing is the way for the child to write freely, so there is no need to be afraid of it. Everything that is felt by the child, like the feeling of mad, happiness, and emotion due to the unpleasant incident, can be distributed into expressive writing. Thus, the child's anxiety can be tackled. Implementation of writing therapy with Islamic psychology becomes self-therapy to improve mental health.

Muslim Psychologists in Facing Challenges of the 4.0 Industrial Revolution

The 4.0 industrial revolution (4IR) is one of the biggest challenges faced by every individual, especially psychologists of this century. In this article, the authors will examine the preparation for challenges psychologists face in helping individuals deal with the psycho-social impact of the 4.0 industrial revolution. 4IR comprises of ten pillars: automation robots, simulations, system integration, multi-purpose internet, cyber security, public computing, additional material creation, reinforced reality, large data analysis, and system integration. This conceptual paper covers articles and books from year 1998 to 2020. This article aims to help psychologists become more knowledgeable about how their disciplinary expertise can assist in discussions, research, and policy initiatives relating to 4.0 Industrial Revolution. Therefore, the objective of this paper is to outline the challenges faced by the Muslim psychologists in the era of 4.0 Industrial Revolution and how to deal with the challenges diligently. Psychologists are responsible for designing and implementing interventions to deal with the psycho-social impact of the 4.0 Industrial Revolution. Psychologists’ involvement is needed to increase psychological support to individuals, in particular, and to society as a whole. Hence, the mental health and mental strength of psychologists are important in preparation for the 4IR challenge.

Dinamika Kepribadian dalam Perspektif Sigmund Freud dan Psikologi Islami

Humans are very complex creatures so that psychological scientists want to reveal the secrets that exist in humans, because each individual certainly has a different character. Personality is an understanding of behavior, thoughts, feelings, and parts of the soul that build human existence into a unity that is not separated in carrying out its functions. Therefore, personality is defined as understanding the I, the self, the self, or understanding the whole human being. In Islam, the term personality (syakhshiyah) is used to describe a person's behavior and try to assess its good and bad. Sigmund Freud concluded that the human self in forming his personality consists of 3 main components namely id, ego and superego. human personality according to Islamic psychology has three components, lust (Al-Nafs), reason (Al-Aql) and heart (Al-Qalb). Personality is actually a product of the interaction between the three components, it's just that there is one that dominates over the other components. The dynamics of human personality in the perspective of Islamic Psychology include: First, mutma'innah personality (serene principle). Second, lawwamah personality (awareness principle). Third, ammarah personality (pleasure principle). The typology of personality in Islam, which comes from the Qur'an and Sunnah, is divided into: First, the believer type. Second, the disbeliever type. Third, the hypocrite type.

Educational Leadership: Islamic Religious, Philosophy, Psychology, and Sociology Perspectives

Leadership is a complex and challenging task requiring a thorough study in this area. The quality of leadership determines educational outcomes in schools. Quality leadership indicators understand the meaning of leadership based on Islamic religious, philosophy, psychology, and sociology perspectives. This study examines educational leadership based on Islamic religious, philosophy, psychology, and sociology perspectives. This study used a library research design by studying references from books and journals related to leadership. In the Islamic religious perspective, educational leadership is a mandate that must be carried out correctly and accounted for by humans and Allah. Leadership that does not work professionally and proportionately is a betrayal of Allah and the Prophet. According to a philosophical perspective, in making decisions, educational leaders must use the right way of thinking to avoid missed decisions that affect school education outcomes. Psychologically a person's leadership style affects the process he lives in everyday life because it is a fundamental human nature from birth to death, so factors from within himself heavily influence his leadership style. Based on a sociological perspective, educational leadership must be able to answer the social challenges of the academic community as the times change.

INDIVIDUAL DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE INTELLIGENCE AND PERSONALITY OF ISLAMIC EDUCATIONAL PSYCHOLOGICAL PERSPECTIVES

Both intelligence and personality are the Allah’ (S) grace that the two of them have similarities and differences, which are seen according to Islamic educational psychology. This study aimed to examine the differences between them. This research was a literature review with qualitative design by taking material sources from literature studies in books, theses, journals, and other electronic sources that can be scientifically justified. This research showed that there are similarities and differences between intelligence and personalities according to Islamic educational psychology. Both the meaning and the aspects seem good on them. Among those meanings, there is the word “Aqal” which in the context of intelligence it was used to obtain the acquaintance, while in the context of personality it was used as the base of the attitude. In these aspects, the intelligence and personality have the differences; intellectual intelligence is used to grow the intellectual aspects, intellectual rational personality is used behavioral base, as well as while it appears the differences between spiritual-moral intelligence and idealistic personality, spiritual-moral intelligence is used to apply norms or values and idealistic personality is to love norms or values.

Quranic mental health amidst pandemic: a cultural-hermeneutic reading to the Salawat community in Indonesia

ABSTRACT The COVID-19 pandemic has created excessive anxiety and psychological disaster globally. People try to calm their souls by performing religious rituals such as Salawat. This research explains the uniqueness of Quran and hadith-based mental health in dealing with pandemics using the Salawat tradition in Indonesia. This is qualitative research with data collected from the Salawat communities through in-depth interviews and observations, then analyzed using Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) to determine the level of mental health and its relationship with the Quranic Mental Health concept. David Tracy's cultural-hermeneutic theory was used to understand how the Salawat community reaches good mental health in dealing with pandemics. It discusses the Quranic Mental Health from the perspective of hermeneutic and culture, examines links with psychological concepts such as religious phenomenon, and describes preliminary empirical evidence related to the mental construct. It has potentially valuable implications for researchers and clinicians interested in Islamic psychology.

Students Perception on Islamic Psychology and Interest of The Issue on Contemporary Civilization

The article discusses the existence of Islamic Psychology amid Western civilization and Eastern civilization (Islam). Where Western Civilization lays the foundation of logical and rational thinking. While on the other hand, Eastern civilization and Islam, prioritize ethics and morals based on normative mindset. Furthermore, there are various contemporary issues of civilization that emerge as evidence of the development of patterns of life, related to the dynamic social changes of today, among others: artificial intelligence, education reform, and digital literacy. Further research is carried out using quantitative approaches. The population in this study were students in four faculties at Imam Bonjol Padang State Islamic University (Faculty of Ushuluddin and Religious Studies, Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training, Faculty of Da'wah, and Faculty of Sharia), which is as many as 1658 students, using the formula Slovin then, obtained a sample of 322 students. Sample withdrawal is done randomly simply. Data collection is conducted using a scale of psychology, observation, and interviews. The results of this study found a relationship between students' perceptions and their interest in the issues of contemporary civilization. This is shown through r2= 0.875**.

Minimalisme dan zuhud: Perbandingan gaya hidup barat dan islam serta manfaatnya bagi kesehatan mental

Materialist lifestyle produces consumptive behavior which ultimately has a broad impact on a person. The most dangerous impact is on mental health where individuals are more susceptible to depression when they do not feel they have enough. Responding to this condition, modern western society has created minimalist lifestyle. This lifestyle is characterized by a deliberate restriction of ownership of things. As for Islam, there is the concept of zuhud which means turning a Muslim away from all worldly things. Although by naked eye, minimalist behavior has similarities with zuhud, there are fundamental differences between the two. The purpose of this study was to identify the differences between minimalism and zuhud and their effect on mental health. Using the literature review method, this study reveals that zuhud guarantees a more stable and authentic mental health, especially for Muslims. The greater positive influence is caused by the reference point of the performer of zuhud in the hereafter rather than the world, and zuhud having an integrative-interconnective relationship with other rites in Islam. PSYCHOLOGICAL WELL-BEING MAHASISWA YANG MENGIKUTI PEMBELAJARAN DARING PADA MASA PANDEMI COVID-19

The purpose of this study is to describe the Psychological well-being of students participating in online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. This research was conducted at the Islamic Psychology Study Program, IAIN Surakarta. This type of research is qualitative phenomenology. There are 3 informants selected by purposive sampling. Data collection techniques through structured interviews. Credibility of data using source triangulation. The data analysis technique used interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA). There are three main themes found in the study, namely 1) Self-acceptance, 2) Perceived impact, 3) Expectations. The results of this study indicate that students have psychological well-being which is influenced by each dimension. The implications of this study are more interesting after the self-acceptance dimension is achieved, it is easier to achieve other dimensions, namely, life goals, environmental mastery, autonomy, positive relationships with others, and personal growth. Individuals who have gratitude will show positive emotions, gratitude has a relationship with happiness, so that the three informants have a mindset to continue to be grateful in whatever happens, therefore the informants are individuals who feel happiness. Autohtona islamska psihologija u bosanskom kontekstu / Indigenous Islamic Psychology in Bosnian Context

The idea of Islamic psychology in its different meanings has been present for years in scientific and academic circles of the East and the West. With the increasing presence of postmodern ideas in today science and aspirations of the former colonies for cultural and scientific emancipation from their Western colonizers, this syntagm during last decades has more and more assumed a meaning of indigenous scientific paradigm in contemporary psychology that is rooted in Islamic teaching about man. The main aim of this paper is to determine as to what extent and in which manner Muslim authors in Bosnia and Herzegovina have discussed this theme. Our analysis of relevant literature has shown that the topic of indigenous Islamic perspective in psychology has been present in local Muslim theological and Sufi circles since ever. Focused reconsideration of modern psychological theory and practice in the light of basic premises of Islamic anthropology, however, goes back to 1990ies and has mostly been an expression of independent and uncoordinated efforts on the part of local enthusiasts, Islamic institutions of higher learning and a number of NGOs. Their achievements in this regard could be generally traced in traditional Sufi works, recent spiritual and psychological thought of Muslim theologians, scientific analysis of Muslim psychologists and translations of relevant foreign literature. Altogether, they mostly aim to explicate building blocks of Islamic paradigm in psychology and understanding of human personality, to elaborate possible models of integrating Islamic spiritual and psychological concepts or spiritual exercises in psychotherapeutic practice, and to expose Sufi thought and understanding of spiritual upbringing as well as psychological heritage of early Muslim scholars. A limited number of comparative psychology works bears methodological features of the Islamic Filter, Islamic Psychology and Comparative Approaches (Kaplick and Skinner, 2017) but never ones of Multilevel Interdisciplinary Paradigm (Al-Karam, 2018).

Makna Khashyah dalam Al-Qur’an: Analisis Kritis atas Emosi Dasar dalam Psikologi Islam

The Meaning of Khashyah in Al-Qur'an: Critical Analysis of Basic Emotions in Islamic Psychology Fear is something that is human nature. Fear that is processed properly will be able to affect human psychic growth. The feeling of fear in Islam is called al-khashyah which has been mentioned many times in the Qur'an and by previous scholars. This paper aims to discuss the meaning of k hasyah in the Qur'an and its analysis in the perspective of Islamic psychology. This paper is in the type of literature review with the main reference source being the Holy Qur'an and its interpretations and books related to Khasyah. This paper is a qualitative research with semantic method used by the author to find the meaning of the Khashyah in the Qur'an, and then it will be analysed critically based on the frame of Islamic psychology. The results of this study indicate that the Qur'an explains a lot about the Khasyah in various derivations of its form, so that the Khasyah itself has various meanings. However, the essence of the meaning of Khashyah is the fear of Allah as a symbol of the perfection of one's faith. Knowledge is an important factor that can direct fear in the right path and direction. Fear that is guided by knowledge will be able to grow the mental health of its owner, in the form of good ethics, the spirit of worship, doing good deeds, and being far from lust. Kepribadian Muhsin dan Tingkat Stres Mahasiswa Psikologi Islam UIN Antasari dalam Menghadapi Covid-19

The purpose of this study was to determine the personality level of Islamic Psychology Study Program students, to see the stress level of Islamic Psychology Study Program students and to see the relationship between the student's personality and the stress level of Islamic Psychology Department students. This research used field research with quantitative. The population of this study was the students of the Islamic Psychology Study Program at UIN Antasari Banjarmasin adding 565 students. The sampling technique uses probability sampling techniques. The research sample consisted of 113 students. The results of the study: 1) There is a significant relationship between Mushin personality and stress levels with a significance level of 0.001 (p <0.050) and together it makes an effective contribution of 10.1%. 1% (25 people), medium intensity 58.4% (66 people) and low intensity 19.5% (22 people). 3) Data on the results of stress levels in the high category 26.5% (30 people), medium intensity 62.8% (71 people), and low intensity 10.6% (12 people).

Standardization of Taqwa (Piety) Scale for Muslims: An Exploratory Study

Taqwa (piety) is a construct in Islamic psychology. It correlates with a large number of behavior such as sustainable capacity building, Islamic leadership, employees’ happiness, and workplace deviance. But the earlier studies have failed to capture the assessment of taqwa from the Qur'anic perspective. In the present study, an attempt is made to standardize a taqwa scale. In the first phase, a pool of 30 items was generated for each of the three domains of the construct (Faith in God, Love for God, and Fear of God), and subject matter experts judge the items’ content for the relevance, clarity, and simplicity on a 4 point Likert rating scale. Item content validity index and interrater reliability of each item were calculated. In the final version, 28 items remained content valid. A total of 229 Muslim students purposively drawn, completed the measure. The mean age of the participants was 22.66 (SD= 1.84). The Taqwa Scale consisted of twelve items with 6 point-Likert rating scale. Exploratory Factor Analysis yielded three factors, namely, faith in God (7 items), love for God (3 items), and fear of God (2 items). Content validity, inter-rater reliability, factorial validity, composite reliability, and construct validity provide strong evidence of the reliability and validity of the taqwa Scale.

Science of Psychology as a Tool for Islamic Revival

As psychology is the scientific study of mind and behavior then it follows that psychology should be able to understand, manipulate, predict and treat human thought and behavior. The purpose of this paper is to explain how first of these three could be used to revive Islam among Muslims in Muslim majority countries. The discussion has been analytical in nature while applying psychological principles and theories from a wide range of psychological studies to understand and design Islamic revival. The paper focuses on five core psychological and psychosocial areas: early childhood development, adulthood, social relationship, marriage and unity. These are crucial foundations for any people, society and it's worldview and even more so for Muslims and Islamic revival. The readers must not in anyway, get the idea that this paper proposes Islam vs West conflict, rather the paper establishes the uniqueness and independence of the Islamic society through the Islamic religion while revealing Islam as a broader system. The paper truly establishes human diversity on independent values and laws through Islam as an example. The paper reveals that psychology is a workable science and not just theory and as such Muslim psychologists should continue to study and use psychology to evolve and mature the Islamic self-concept, Islamic conscience and Islamic society.

The Role Of Religiousity and Religious Coping Towards Seeking Psychological Help Among College Students In Semarang

Mental health problems are increasingly prevalent in Indonesia, but many people are still reluctant to seek professional psychological help. Religiosity is considered as one of the factors that can influence one's preference for seeking psychological help, especially in Indonesian society, specifically in the city of Semarang, Central Java, which the life of society closely related to the value of religiosity. Therefore this study aimed to see the contribution of religiosity and religious coping in influencing the search for psychological help. This research was conducted at two universities, one state university and one Islamic private university which were determined through random sampling. Data collection was carried out online and offline with the Indonesian Islamic Psychological Measure of Islamic Psychology (I-PMIR), Islamic Religious Coping Scale (RCOPE), Attitude Towards Seeking Psychological Help (ATSPH), and Mental Health Seeking Help Intentions Scale (MHSIS) and obtained a total of 731 respondents. Multiple regression analysis showed that attitude was the strongest predictor of intention to seek psychological help (B= 0,556, p<0,01), followed by religious coping (B= 0,08, p<0,01), while religiosity was not a significant predictor. Further analysis showed the unique contribution of religious coping aspects towards the intention of seeking psychological help with F (5, 725) = 8,721, p<0,01, R 0,238. There were also differences in the contribution of religiosity and religious coping to the intention of seeking psychological help based on the background of the respondent (state or private Islamic university) which discussed further in the article.
