Psychological detachment: a bibliometric investigation within the organization’s behavior domains

Purpose The purpose of this study is to offer insight into present dynamics and study diversification in the field of organizational psychology. This research study offers an organized and critical examination of the construct of psychological detachment using bibliometric analysis. Design/methodology/approach This study was done using the Scopus database based on studies published between 2006 and 2024. The significance of the research is evaluated by looking at the distribution volume, the trajectory of the publication, statistics techniques, extremely cited articles, journals, most frequently used keywords, research themes, subthemes clusters and thematic overview of the psychological detachment corpus created based on bibliographic coupling. Furthermore, content analysis of recent publications to identify new developments and potential gaps in the existing literature. Findings This research first tracked the development of this discipline’s body of literature through time and discovered a continuous rise starting in 2015. The results also highlighted crucial concepts that were studied with psychological detachment, such as work-life balance, employment outcomes, emotional exhaustion and various other demographic variables. Researchers chose to concentrate on those subtopics throughout time. Research limitations/implications This research relied solely on Scopus data, which, despite being the largest abstract and citation database covering articles from a wide range of fields, does not include Impact Factor or Social Science Citation Index (SSCI) data, which is one of the limitation. Practical implications The findings of this research study will assist organizations and practitioners in comprehending the implications of psychological detachment construct at their workplace and give them direction on how they come out from negative job-related outcomes (employee job stress, turnover intention and burnouts at their respective workplaces). Originality/value This study offers a diversity of study topics across the psychological detachment literature by applying a variety of bibliographical mapping techniques, making it the first of its type on the topic of psychological detachment. It also indicates promising avenues for further investigation.

Research on Depression Recognition Based on University Students’ Facial Expressions and Actions with the Assistance of Artificial Intelligence

As artificial intelligence (AI) technology advances, its application in the field of psychology has witnessed significant advancements. In this paper, with the assistance of AI, 80 university students with depression and 80 university students with normal psychology were selected as the subjects. The facial expression feature data were extracted through OpenFace, and the action feature data were extracted based on a Kinect camera. Then, the convolutional neural network-long short-term memory (CNN-LSTM) and temporal convolutional neural network (TCN) approaches were designed for recognition. Finally, a weighted fusion recognition method was proposed. The results showed that compared with the support vector machine, back-propagation neural network, and other approaches, the CNN-LSTM and TCN methods showed better performance in the recognition of single feature data, and the accuracy reached 0.781 and 0.769, respectively. After weighted fusion, the accuracy reached the highest at 0.875. The results verify that the methods designed in this paper are effective in identifying depressive emotions through facial expressions and actions among university students and have the potential for practical application.

A study on the impact of perceived leadership member exchange on innovation behavior by university lectures

Based on the social exchange theory, this study used the convenience maximization method to submit a form to 832 teachers. SPSS and AMOS software were used to analyze teachers' cognition of leader-member exchange (LMX) and teachers' psychological empowerment and psychological safety in innovative behavior. Meanwhile, the influence of education and professional background on these factors was evaluated. It also explores the impact of the quality of leader-member exchange on innovation, and the intrinsic role of psychological empowerment and psychological security in the process. The results show that teachers with different academic levels and titles have significant differences in leader-member interaction behavior, behavioral innovation, psychological empowerment and psychological safety. In addition, the quality of leader-teacher interaction is positively correlated with innovative behavior and psychological empowerment, indicating that leadership plays a positive role in improving teachers' innovative behavior. Psychological empowerment and psychological safety, as the key, connect the complex relationship between leadership, educational environment and innovative behavior.These findings not only provide practical strategies for higher education administrators to promote teacher innovation, but also provide a theoretical basis for widespread application in the field of organizational and environmental psychology, highlighting the potential role of leadership in creating environments that support innovation, empowerment, and safety. This framework provides a powerful tool for creating an innovative and conducive work environment. Supported.

Adult attachment and dehumanization among Chinese college students: trait attachment and state attachment perspectives.

Current social issues such as bullying, online violence, and local conflicts are all prominent topics in the field of psychology and linked to dehumanization. However, research on dehumanization from a non-Western background has been rare. As a key factor influencing individual behavior, attachment has not been sufficiently integrated into studies on dehumanization. Therefore, this study provides empirical evidence to explore the relationship between adult attachment (both trait and state) and dehumanization. The sample consisted of college students from China. In Study 1 (N = 705) latent profile analysis was employed to exploring the potential categories of trait adult attachment in China, and to investigate how these categories impact dehumanization. Study 2 (N = 281) focused on activating secure attachment and examined the effects of three state attachment types, security, avoidance and anxiety, on dehumanization. Study 1 identified four types of adult attachment: preoccupied, secure, fearful, and dismissing, and revealed that these different attachment types have varying impacts on dehumanization. Study 2 showed that both security and avoidance predict dehumanization. This research established a link between adult attachment and dehumanization, offering new insights into the psychological mechanisms underlying dehumanization and suggesting novel strategies for its prevention and intervention.

Special issue on systematic reviews and meta‐analyses in engineering education: Highlights and future research directions

AbstractIt gives me great pleasure to explore and synthesize the unique and synergistic contributions of 14 articles for this important special issue, as well as to set future directions for the field of engineering education. Given that evidence‐based syntheses help shape key research advances in the medical, psychological, and educational fields, we sought papers that used state‐of‐the‐art methods for systematic reviews and meta‐analyses to explore fundamental topics in engineering education. We received many excellent manuscripts, and eventually accepted 14 for this special issue. They cover a range of topics, including reading and writing in engineering, the use of concept maps for assessment in engineering, and other key topics. Most papers used systematic review methods, while three used scoping reviews and bibliometric methods. However, none used meta‐analysis. Although this is surprising, it presents an opportunity to call for more rigorous experimental and quantitative research on key topics in engineering education. Experimental studies can uncover cause and effect relationships and enable researchers to draw inferences more easily. While I advocate for all traditions of rigorous research, the collection of reviews in this special issue points to a pressing need for more experimental studies in the field of engineering education.

Is orthorexia nervosa a hidden threat impacting quality of life in IBS patients?

The potential link between functional gastrointestinal disorders and eating disorders has been reported recently. The present study aimed to explore the relationship between orthorexic tendencies and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)-related quality of life in IBS patients. This cross-sectional study was conducted with 121 IBS patients. The data were collected using Orthorexia Nervosa-11 (ORTO-11) to assess orthorexic tendencies, Irritable Bowel Syndrome Quality of Life Scale (IBS-QoL) to measure quality of life, and Irritable Bowel Syndrome Symptom Severity Score (IBS-SSS) to measure IBS symptoms. Food consumption record was taken to assess diet quality with the Healthy Eating Index 2015 (HEI-2015). The relationship between measured variables was assessed. The mean ORTO-11 score of the patients was 24.76 ± 3.99. Most patients had poor diet quality (52.00%). A moderate positive correlation was found between ORTO-11 and IBS-QoL (model 0, p < 0.005 and model 1, p < 0.001) and a strong negative correlation between IBS-SSS and IBS-QoL (p < 0.001). In conclusion, we can conclude that both altered IBS symptoms and orthorexic tendencies affect the quality of life of irritable bowel patients independently of each other. These findings provide valuable insights into the treatment of IBS and inform clinicians and researchers in the fields of gastroenterology, nutrition, psychiatry,and psychology.

Family Security is a Legitimate Purpose to Achieve Human Security Spoken Legal Texts and Witnessing Human Studies- A Legal Scientific Study in the Light of the Purposes of Islamic Law

Praise be to Allah and peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah and his family and companions, and after: This research tagged with: "Family security is a legitimate purpose to achieve human security" aims to show the importance of family security, and how the Sharia paid great attention to it, and stressed the need to maintain it in all psychological, health, physical, economic and moral fields as the family is the first basic social unit and nucleus, which is based on preserving it , the preservation of the human species, its security and stability, and thus the negligence of it is negligence of the human race and the human species as a whole. This research is supported by legal or Sharia ‘s texts that make it clear that achieving family security is a legitimate goal given great care by Islam, and there is no evidence of this clearer than the rotation of legal provisions either lawful or unlawful around the protection of the family: its religion, soul, mind, dignity and wealth, which preservation ot them represents the preservation of the highest levels of interests, and is called the five necessities. This research came after mentioning the legal texts supported by human studies and experiences as a source of knowledge that benefits the human race, and in support of what was stated in the legal texts of facts and results of interest that may increase the stability of the Muslim and his faith, and highlight the bright face of Sharia, away from other projects and trends that are imposed under the media noise and various pressures, despite the clarity of their destructive effects on the family and human society. The sufferings that were resulted of these devastating effects appered every where, that causes reluctance to show the truth and the beneficial and useful consequent of them, and therefore this research came as a contribution to the promotion and protection of family security as a legitimate purpose to achieve human security, where it included an introduction, seven investigations, results and conclusion. The first section included clarification of the truth of the purposes of Sharia , its sections and ranks, as the second section included confirmation that the role of women is large and important in the protection of family security and that their position in the family is responsible not hired, then the third and fourth sections indicated how Islam achieved health security and protected the family from physical and psychological diseases that may affect its members , then the fifth section showed how to achieve economic and living security, and the sixth section included a statement of how Islam achieved security for the family and protected it from extinction and weak reproduction, which endangers countries and the lack of renewal of generations resulting from the lack of births, while the seventh section dealt with the statement of how Islam achieved security for the family and protected it from crime that targets its foundation and entity. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds, and may Allah's prayers and peace be upon our Prophet Mohamed, his family and companions as a whole.

Analysing Psychological Sentiment Prediction Across Modalities: Harnessing Emotion Datasets within Natural Language Processing (NLP)

Studying human emotions and feelings is a crucial element in the field of psychology, having significant implications such as evaluating mental health and improving human-computer interactions. Recently, there has been a rise in interest in examining how psychological sentiment can be predicted through various mediums, including text, audio, video, and physiological signals. By utilizing advancements in Natural Language Processing (NLP) and analysing multimodal data, this research delves into incorporating emotion datasets into NLP frameworks to improve psychological sentiment prediction. This presents present an applicability of some of the NLP techniques to predicts the Psychological Sentiment such as Deep Generating adversarial networks (D-GANs), Long short-term memory (LSTM) and gated recurrent unit (GRU). The sentimental analysis performed by the considered algorithms are implemented in python and the parameters which are considered for the results evaluation are model loss, confusion matrix, accuracy, precision, recall and f1-score. Our goal with this analysis is to offer a deeper understanding of the existing methodologies and future scope of growth in psychological sentiment prediction of research in the field of NLP.

According to the Encyclical Humanae vitae of Pope Paul VI, conjugal love should be human (sensual and spiritual), full, faithful and exclusive, and fruitful. Human sexuality has a purpose and meaning. In addition to the procreative meaning, it also contains a bonding element, openness to the needs of the other, love, care, interest. However, to be complete, it requires communication, also in terms of intimate needs. Their proper satisfaction, with the appropriate level of maturity and religious activity, is the basis for marital fidelity. A proper understanding of the essence of sexuality allows the development of openness to life and the selection of appropriate methods of family planning, consistent with moral standards. For Christians, religious principles are the basis for understanding human nature, also in the sexual dimension, at the same time being the basis for formulating and understanding adequate norms derived from natural law. Respecting the principles of Catholic moral ethics puts marriage and family life in order. The aim of the considerations is to present human sexuality as an expression of conjugal love, which should be human, full, faithful, exclusive and fertile. In order to consider the normative significance of religion in the sex life of Catholic couples, a critical analysis of various sources was conducted. This included examining Church documents, books, and articles in scientific journals. The method applied in this paper involved a critical analysis of selected texts and a synthesis of their content. The basis for the considerations will be the Encyclical Humanae vitae of Pope Paul VI supplemented with modern knowledge in the field of biology, psychology, sexology and theology of marriage and family.

한국인의 자기결정적 고독 동기의 연구동향

Objectives The purpose of this study is to analyze research trends on self-determined solitude motivation among Koreans. Through this analysis, the study aims to review existing research and broaden the understanding of self-determined solitude motivation, thereby suggesting directions for future research. Methods A total of 35 journal articles and master's and doctoral theses published in Korean and English from 2012 to 2023 were analyzed. We examined overall publication trends, such as publication year and academic field, as well as research method trends, including research types, subjects, and statistical methods. To investigate the content trends of variables studied in relation to self-determined solitude motivation, we categorized the variables by area and analyzed their frequency and co-occurrence. Results First, approximately 80% of the studies on self-determined solitude motivation among Koreans were published after 2019, with a slightly higher proportion of theses. Most of the research was conducted in the fields of psychology and education. Second, quantitative research was predominant, with young adults being the primary subjects. The measurement tool developed by Lim et al. (2012) was mainly used, and regression analysis and cluster analysis were commonly employed. Third, the majority of variables studied in relation to self-determined solitude motivation among Koreans were personal variables, with a focus on emotional and personality-related variables. Frequently studied variables in conjunction with self-determined solitude motivation included life satisfaction and well-being, loneliness, eating alone, depression, and adult attachment. Conclusions Research on self-determined solitude motivation among Koreans has been increasing since 2019, with a significant focus on master's theses and quantitative studies targeting young adults. Many studies have examined the relationship between self-determined solitude motivation and factors such as life satisfaction and well-being, loneliness, and eating alone. This suggests the need for future research employing diverse methods and perspectives.

Using Performance Profiling to Assess Consultant Effectiveness

Despite its obvious value, the notion of assessing consultant effectiveness is not common practice nor is it well established as a research area in the field of Sport and Performance Psychology (SPP). Consultant effectiveness has been predominantly evaluated and chronicled by studying the characteristics (and behaviors) of successful mental performance consultants (MPCs). Although the vast majority of the performance profile (PP) literature highlights client-facing uses and benefits, the information presented herein outlines a novel practitioner-focused use and promising method of leveraging the PP procedure to gauge consultant effectiveness and provide MPCs with sensible informed guidance that can make a difference in the way that they evaluate themselves and their work. A case study is discussed to illustrate how the PP can be tailored to reflect evidence-based characteristics of effective consultants and how this feedback can benefit professional practice. Applied implications are outlined to provide MPCs practical guidance on how they can leverage the PP to appraise the quality of the working alliance and gain insight into their current consulting skillset to identify strengths and growth edges.

This proposal is formulated on the basis of finding the process and result of pregnancy, its well-being in the field of both individual and public interests.

Exploring autonomic dysfunction in functional dysphonia: A protocol for a case-control study and a randomized controlled trial.

Although psychological factors have been implicated in patients with functional dysphonia (FD), conventional voice therapy (CVT) typically targets the aberrant voice symptoms exclusively. Yet, CVT is not always successful, and in view of the significant adverse quality of life impact combined with the financial burden on the healthcare system and society, research is needed to elucidate the underlying psychophysiology of FD and improve treatment outcomes. The first objective of this research project is to compare the occurrence and frequency of symptoms and/or disorders related to autonomic nervous system (ANS) dysfunction in patients with FD with gender- and age-matched vocally healthy controls, using a case-control study. The second objective is to compare the effects of a novel therapy for FD based on ANS regulation (i.e., ANS therapy: heart rate variability (HRV) biofeedback) on both autonomic function and voice function versus CVT alone or in combination with ANS therapy (i.e., ANS therapy + CVT), using a randomized controlled trial (RCT). Case-control study: Autonomic (dys)function of patients with FD will becompared with gender- and age-matched vocally healthy controls, using both physiological measures (e.g., HRV, skin conductance level) and psychological patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs, e.g., Neuroception of Psychological Safety Scale, Depression Anxiety and Stress Scale). RCT: The FD group will be randomly assigned to the innovative ANS therapy group, the CVT group or the ANS therapy + CVT group. All patients received 1 month of treatment with 20 min of daily practice. Both the autonomic assessment and the voice assessment will beperformed pretherapy and immediately after therapy by assessors blinded to group allocation and study phase. Higher occurrences of symptoms and/or disorders related to autonomic dysfunction are expected in patients with FD compared with vocally healthy controls. Physiological outcomes: lower HRV, lower cardiac pre-ejection period, higher respiration rate and higher skin conductance level are hypothesized in patients with FD compared with vocally healthy controls. Psychological PROMs: higher self-report of feelings/symptoms related to autonomic dysfunction (e.g., perceived stress, anxiety) is expected in patients with FD compared with vocally healthy controls. The autonomic function is hypothesized to improve more after the ANS therapy and the ANS therapy + CVT compared with the CVT only. Voice function is expected to improve more after the ANS therapy + CVT compared with the ANS therapy and the CVT alone. What is already known on the subject Autonomic dysfunction is well recognized in the field of psychology but remains understudied in the area of voice. Given that the vagus nerve, innervating the larynx, also helps to regulate the ANS, and psychological symptoms commonly observed in patients with FD may reflect ANS dysregulation, research in this area is needed. There is some preliminary evidence that autonomic dysfunction might indeed be associated with FD. However, physiological ANS measures are needed, as well as validated psychological PROMs. What this paper adds to the existing knowledge The first objective of this study is to investigate the occurrence and frequency of symptoms and/or disorders related to autonomic dysfunction in patients with FD as compared with a gender- and age-matched vocally healthy control group. This study is expected to lead to innovative results related to the pathogenesis and psychophysiology of FD, a prevalent voice disorder associated with a significant adverse quality of life impact and a substantial financial burden on the healthcare system and society. The results of this study will lead to crucial new insights into both the diagnosis and treatment of FD, contributing to evidence-based practice in the field of voice.

Motivation Theories Affecting Organizational Commitment in the Workplace

In today's working life, as competition is increasing, ensuring the loyalty of employees to the organization is important for organizations to survive. In the literature, it is considered important to determine employees' attitudes toward work through motivation theories in order to ensure commitment to the organization. The sustainability of business organizations is shaped by the level of commitment of the organization's employees, and the goal of organizations is to ensure that their employees do not leave the organization, which draws attention to the importance of motivation theories for organizations. The subject of the study was to explain the evaluation of organizational commitment of organizational employees by providing support from motivation theories. The purpose of the study is to compile the attitudes of employees toward their work environment, motivation theories that affect the organizational commitment of individuals, and studies in the literature in the field of industrial and organizational psychology. The method of the research is based on the studies on organizational commitment and motivation theories in Turkey and the world between 1948 and 2023 in YÖK National Thesis Center, Google Scholar, ProQuest, ResearchGate databases such as "organization", "organizational commitment", "motivation", "motivation theories", "industrial and organizational psychology". It was reached by searching with the keywords. As a result of the search, the universe consisted of 75 articles, books, and master's and doctoral theses. 68 articles, books and dissertation materials were selected as the sample of the research. The importance of the study was explained by including the concept of organizational commitment, factors affecting organizational commitment and behavioral outcomes, motivation theories, employees' values regarding work life, factors affecting their organizational commitment, studies in the literature were evaluated and discussed within the framework of industrial and organizational psychology.

Impact of psychological entitlement on engagement in learning activities and psychological anxiety: the mediating role of envy

Psychological entitlement has appeared as a significant topic for research in the field of management and Psychology. From the perspective of social comparison theory, the present study aimed to investigate the impact of psychological entitlement on engagement in learning activities and psychological anxiety in the hotel industry. Furthermore, benign and malign envy were examined as an explanatory mechanism between psychological entitlement and its outcomes. Based on a three-wave time-lagged design, data were obtained from 242 employees working in the different hotels in Pakistan. We found that psychological entitlement’s has no direct influence on hotel employees engagement in learning activities, and psychological anxiety. In addition, the indirect effect of psychological entitlement on both outcomes (engagement in learning activities and psychological anxiety) was found significant through the mediating effect of benign and malign envy. The implications for research theory and practice are discussed.

Intolerance of uncertainty, curiosity, generalized anxiety disorder, and subjective happiness in the time of earthquakes in Türkiye

BackgroundOn February 6, 2023, a devastating earthquake disaster occurred in Türkiye, affecting millions. Mental health concerns were high due to people’s exposure to loss and possible earthquakes. In these times, variables that predict individuals’ mental health should be determined. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between intolerance of uncertainty, curiosity, generalized anxiety disorder, and subjective happiness using structural equation modeling.Participants and procedureThe research was conducted on Turkish individuals in 29 different cities in Türkiye. For the purpose of the research, data were collected from 345 participants (79.7% females, 20.3% males, age range = 18-61, Mage = 26.73 years). One hundred eighty nine of the participants were single (54.7%), 77 were married (22.4%), and the remaining 79 were in a relationship or engaged (22.9%). Additionally, it was found that 52 of the participants were parents (15.1%). In terms of socio-economic status, the majority fell into the middle-class category (n = 263, 76.2%).ResultsIt was found that intolerance to uncertainty predicted subjective happiness, and generalized anxiety disorder mediated this relationship. In addition, curiosity predicted subjective happiness, and generalized anxiety disorder mediated this relation-ship.ConclusionsAll the findings obtained in the research revealed the mental health problems experienced by individuals after the earth-quake. This research on earthquakes and mental health makes important contributions to the field of psychology.

Effect of whole-process high-quality nursing on the quality of life of acute pancreatitis patients and the mechanism of miR-126-5p/HOXC8 axis promoting the progression of acute pancreatitis.

The current research was designed to investigate the impact of whole-process high-quality nursing on acute pancreatitis (AP) patients' quality of life as well as the mechanism of miR-126-5p/HOXC8 axis promoting AP progression. One hundred AP patients admitted to our hospital were chosen and separated into control group (CG, n=50) and study group (SG, n=50). The CG took the routine nursing, while the SG adopted the whole-process high-quality nursing. Besides, cerulein (CE) was treated in AR42J cells to establish an experimental model of AP. The proliferation, apoptosis along with inflammation of CE-treated AR42J cells were assessed. The outcomes manifested that in contrast to the CG, the recovery time of bowel sound, the improvement time of abdominal distension, the improvement time of abdominal pain, the exhaust time and the defecation time in the SG presented shorter, the anxiety and depression scores in the SG presented lower, the WHOQOL-100 scores of patients in the SG presented higher in the fields of physiology, psychology, environment and social relations, the total incidence of complications of the SG presented lower, and the total nursing satisfaction of the SG was better. Besides, miR-126-5p presented upregulation in CE-stimulated AR42J cells, and miR-126-5p inhibition increased the proliferation along with repressed the apoptosis and inflammation in CE-stimulated AR42J cells. Moreover, HOXC8 could be the target mRNA of miR-126-5p, and HOXC8 elevation promoted the proliferation along with repressed the apoptosis and inflammation in CE-stimulated AR42J cells. In addition, rescue assays further validated that HOXC8 silence offset the protective impact of miR-126-5p repression on AP cell damage. In conclusion, our study indicated that whole-process high-quality nursing could promote the quality of life of AP patients, and revealed that miR-126-5p inhibition relieved CE-stimulated AR42J cells injury caused by AP via targeting HOXC8. Our study might offer novel insights for AP treatment and nursing.

&lt;p&gt;The article analyzes the importance of research in the field of special education and psychology for the development of cultural-historical theory. In this article we show that the development of the principles of cultural-historical psychology should be analyzed, and problematic areas of special education are identified. We have analyzed an importance of researches on special education and psychology to better understand a correlation between learning and development, the cultural development of a child as "growing into culture", the development of the regulatory function of speech, the content of the category "development" in psychology, the role of the collective in the development of children with disabilities. For the first time in cultural-historical psychology were shown the role of interaction with a peer without disabilities in the development of higher mental functions of a child with disabilities, the importance and conditions of interaction of a special child with an adult for making a step in development, the ratio between disability and its compensation, ideas about the zone of proximal development and the patterns of abnormal development. We showed how L.S.Vygotsky's ideas on the diagnosis of abnormal development in modern special psychology work, and importnt modern studies are for better understanding of normal development. It is shown that many problems of special education (including the problems of inclusive education) pose a challenge to cultural-historical theory and can be solved using it. Investigating influential factors in group learning: personality traits, COVID-19 lockdowns and back-to-school policies

Extensive research has probed the impacts of personality traits on student satisfaction, academic anxiety, and performance, with particular attention paid to their implications during the COVID-19 pandemic. Notably, a conspicuous gap is discernible in the existing literature concerning investigations that scrutinize the influence of personality on group learning among different COVID-19 lockdown phases (e.g., pre, during, and post-lockdowns). This study endeavors to fill this gap by undertaking an examination of the fluctuations in group performance within data science curricula. This inquiry considers student cohorts comprising diverse personality traits across distinct phases of lockdowns. Through the investigation of 84 student groups, our research has unearthed intriguing correlations and patterns linking group performance with four influential factors, including personality traits, the lockdown phases (i.e., pre, during and post-lockdowns), the joint factor of lockdowns and personality traits, and the implemented COVID-19 policies (e.g., mask-wearing and social distancing) during the early-stage of back-to-schools. The interesting findings revealed from our studies have the potential to propel the advancement of our comprehension within the field of educational psychology and may serve as catalysts for heightened scrutiny of student personality traits, thereby motivating educators to refine their pedagogical approaches in collaborative learning experiences.

Sowing green seeds of mind: exploring the determinants of green mindfulness among university students

Purpose This study aims to investigate the determinants influencing green mindfulness among university students in Malaysia within the context of the Malaysia 2030 Agenda, focusing on Sustainable Development Goal 17 attainment. Design/methodology/approach The research uses a quantitative approach with a sample of 203 young adults. It explores the factors of goal difficulty, knowledge and awareness, spirituality, values and perceived university environmental responsibility (PUER), using a novel theoretical framework termed universal identity theory (IT). Findings Values, knowledge and awareness and PUER significantly contribute to green mindfulness, whereas spirituality and goal difficulty did not exhibit a substantial relationship to green mindfulness. Research limitations/implications Limited representation of diverse age groups and the potential influence of seniority on spirituality. Future research should expand the framework to include green behavior and performance, increase the sample size and consider a broader age demographic. Practical implications Universities play a crucial role in promoting green mindfulness through the establishment of rules, regulations, environmental initiatives, incentive systems and the introduction of a green mindfulness course. Clear communication channels and top-down approaches are recommended. Social implications This research contributes to understanding the mechanisms that induce green mindfulness among university students in Malaysia, aligning with national and global sustainability goals. Originality/value The universal IT provides a comprehensive understanding of how personal, social and community-based identities collectively influence green mindfulness. This theoretical perspective contributes to the environmental psychology and sustainability studies field, offering a culturally sensitive approach.
