Study of the Reverse Saturate Absorption in Copper Phthalocyanine Solution

The nonlinear absorption (NLA) properties of copper phthalocyanine (CuPc) acetone solution were investigated by femtosecond open-aperture (OA) Z-scan technique. The reverse saturable absorption (RSA) was observed, and it was found that the RSA effect was origin from three-photon absorption. Moreover, the influences of concentration and excitation laser power on the NLA of CuPc solution are studied. Results show that the RSA effect increases with the increase of sample concentration and excitation laser power. It indicates that the CuPc could be a promising candidate for optical limiting material.

Three-photon absorption of copper phthalocyanine solution by femtosecond Z-scan technique

It indicated that the CuPc could be a promising candidate for optical limiting material.

Effects of Deposition Rate on the Properties of CuPc Thin Films and Solar Cells

We investigated the effects of deposition rate on the properties of copper phthalocyanine (CuPc) thin films and the performance of CuPc/C60 heterojunction organic solar cells prepared by vacuum thermal evaporation method. We found that the organic solar cell with higher CuPc deposition rate (RCuPc) of around 4.0 Å/s showed a larger short circuit current density of around 5.79 mA/cm2 and a higher power conversion efficiency of around 1.3%, which were about 1.8- and 2-times compared to those of the devices with RCuPc of 0.1 Å/s, respectively. We also found that the CuPc single layer devices with higher RCuPc exhibited a larger current density, which may be due to a higher mobility and lower trap density in CuPc thin films with higher RCuPc.

Nonlinear absorption in CuPc-doped PMMA thin film in the femtosecond regime: Experimental and theoretical studies

The nonlinear absorption (NLA) properties of copper phthalocyanine (CuPc)-doped polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) thin film in the femtosecond regime were investigated both experimentally and theoretically. The open-aperture (OA) Z-scan measurements of the film were carried out by femtosecond laser pulse. A transition from saturable absorption (SA) to reverse saturable absorption (RSA) was observed as the excitation intensity is increased. The rate equation analysis based on an developed efficient energy level model was performed and the intensity dependence of level populations was obtained, which reveals the source of NLA. The results show that the transition from SA to RSA is ascribed to the fifth-order effect of excited-state absorption (ESA) induced by two-photon absorption (TPA) process. Furthermore, it is found that the CuPc-doped PMMA thin film possesses a large fifth-order coefficient (beta((5))) of 0.24 x 10(-21)cm(3)/W(2). It indicates that the CuPc-doped PMMA thin film could be a promising candidate for optical limiting material.

Highly ordered vacuum-deposited thin films of copper phthalocyanine induced by electric field

The properties of copper-phthalocyanine (CuPc) thin films vacuum evaporated on glass substrates under different electric fields have been investigated. The resistances of the film decrease rapidly with increasing electric fields. The results of AFMs, XPS and X-ray diffraction reveal that electric fields change the chemical environment of Cu and increase the order of copper phthalocyanine molecules. A possible mechanism of this phenomenon is discussed in this paper.

Adsorption-resistant properties of copper phthalocyanine dispersed in a polymer matrix

The conduction mechanism in copper phthalocyanine (CuPc)-polymer composite thin films and their sensitivity to nitrogen dioxide are investigated. It is established that a hopping conduction mechanism in the regime of single electron hops prevails in these materials at 290–350 K, and the magnitude and rate of the adsorption-resistance sensitivity to NO2 is higher than in pure CuPc.

Evidence of Intermolecular Interaction Effect on Nonlinear Optical Properties of Copper Phthalocyanine

In some organic molecular aggregates and crystals, intermolecular interaction effects play an essential role in the nonlinear optical (NLO) properties. Here, we report on the experimental results on copper phthalocyanine films, which demonstrate a significant intermolecular interaction effects on NLO properties.
