These days, in this digital world, we depend on social media more and more. Online libraries and social media platforms now house the majority of people's data. A person's social network consists of their friends, coworkers, religious affiliations, and any other social links that connect them together. The ever-increasing needs of humans are becoming more difficult to satisfy as the number of users of social media platforms such as Facebook, YouTube, Orkut, LinkedIn, etc. continues to rise. Anyone may sign up for a social network, create a profile, and start chatting with people. Many different social media strategies exist for promoting library services. Online social networks and information sharing platforms abound, with names like Facebook, Messenger, Orkut, Twitter, and countless more. The educational uses of social media and the tools at educators' disposal are the primary foci of this article's exploration of the phenomenon. The benefits and drawbacks of social media were also covered. Exploring the Impact of the Gamified Metaverse on Knowledge Acquisition and Library Anxiety in Academic Libraries

This paper investigates the potential of the Gamified Metaverse as a platform for promoting library services. The study compares the effectiveness of a traditional library program with a Metaverse-based library program in terms of knowledge acquisition and library anxiety. The research also examines students’ perceptions of implementing gamification within the context of the Gamified Metaverse platform. A mixed-methods approach was adopted, including pre- and post-test analysis, statistical analysis, and qualitative data collection. The results indicate that both the traditional and Metaverse-based library programs effectively increased the participants’ knowledge, with no significant difference between the two approaches. However, the Metaverse-based program was found to be less effective in facilitating interaction with librarians and reducing library anxiety. Additionally, students expressed positive perceptions of implementing gamification in the Gamified Metaverse platform, finding it engaging and motivating. These findings contribute to the understanding of the effect of the Metaverse as a tool for promoting library services and enhancing knowledge acquisition. However, it is not as effective in reducing library anxiety, particularly in terms of interaction with librarians and staff. It should be noted that the platform may have limitations such as high costs and potential side effects of virtual reality, making it more suitable as an additional tool for promoting library services, taking into account its feasibility and potential benefits for specific student populations and larger libraries.

Towards adoption of competitive intelligence in marketing of library services in public university libraries in Southwestern Nigeria

The use of competitive intelligence (CI) to market library services is a call for re-organisation of public university libraries. CI is an organisation mechanism that facilitates the transforming of competitive information into practical actions. The advent of technology in the educational services is gradually reducing users’ patronage to the library. This call for librarians to map out strategies of retaining the value of libraries and keep their patrons, In line with this, this study examined adoption of competitive intelligence in marketing of library services in public university libraries in Southwestern Nigeria. Related literatures were reviewed to have in-depth knowledge about the new trends that can enhance library marketing and promote library services. As a result, public library need to embrace innovative marketing approaches and leverage digital technologies, by so doing public university libraries can effectively promote their services and resources, thereby maximizing their impact on the academic community. Successful marketing is crucial to promoting university library services and optimizing their influence on research, teaching, and learning. Leveraging diverse communication channels, and understanding the requirements of library users should be paramount to librarians. It is very important that marketing strategies be continuously evaluated and adjusted to guarantee that library services continue to be pertinent and flexible in response to the changing requirements of the academic community.

Application of Social Media Threads in College Libraries

The development of information technology has brought significant changes in various sectors, including university libraries. Social media, as one of the information technology innovations, has become an effective tool in expanding access and improving library services. This research focuses on the application of social media "threads" as a strategy to increase the effectiveness of college libraries in providing services and connecting with users.This research uses a qualitative approach with case studies of several university libraries that have actively implemented social media "threads". Data was collected through interviews with library staff, observation of user behavior, and analysis of social media content. The research results show that the application of social media "threads" has provided real benefits in increasing access to information, facilitating communication between libraries and users, and promoting library services effectively.Additionally, this research also identified challenges faced in implementing social media "threads," including time management, expanding the user base, and the need for library staff training. The results of this research provide valuable insight for university libraries in developing strategies for utilizing social media "threads" to improve services and interactions with users.

Gamification for Digital Humanities in Libraries

Games or gamification is an application of the digital humanities that impacts learning and education in the digital era. It has been playing significant roles in user education and promoting the user services of libraries. Libraries conduct several activities to promote library services and educate users on their digital resources and services. They have been following the best practices of promoting the library services and developing the digital literacy skills of users through conducting library orientation programs, resource sharing, vendor talks, demonstrations, training & tutorial sessions, content alerts, workshops, focus group discussions, etc. to make users aware and motivate them to the effective use of library services and resources. In the current digital era, acquiring knowledge through modern & intellectual skills using an online platform, has been introduced. Thus, modern libraries have started facilitating gamification platforms in the library premises to create more enthusiasm for learning quickly with deeper understanding, increasing engagement and motivation in using library services and digital resources. This research paper surveyed and evaluated the free web-based games available for developing digital literacy, including digital literacy instructions and promoting library services that benefit the libraries to identify the role of digital humanities in libraries by implementing gamification. The research study also evaluated the games, based on their features, simulations, play, etc., and ranked them based on selected criteria. The study found thatGaming Against Plagiarism (GAP), reference sources, and citation awareness is more popular.

The Use of Artificial Intelligence in Digital Marketing of the Library Industry in Ukraine: Foreign Experience and Prospects

The purpose of the article is to analyze the foreign experience of using artificial intelligence in the digital marketing of libraries, to outline the main directions, prospects and problems of applying these technologies in Ukraine, and to formulate recommendations for the successful implementation of AI in the digital marketing of Ukrainian libraries. Research methods. In order to achieve our goal, we utilized several scientific methods such as analysis, substantiation, systematization, comparison, and generalization. To gather empirical data, we conducted a content analysis of relevant literature and case studies of foreign libraries that have integrated AI in their digital marketing strategies. The data collected underwent statistical analysis, and we utilized the results to formulate recommendations for Ukrainian libraries to successfully implement artificial intelligence in their digital marketing strategies. Scientific novelty. The article presents a new perspective on implementing digital marketing methods in libraries through the use of artificial intelligence. By analyzing foreign experiences, the article suggests effective strategies and tools for promoting library services in the digital environment. Furthermore, the article emphasizes the potential of artificial intelligence technologies to address challenges faced by the library industry in Ukraine and offers practical recommendations for their implementation. Conclusions. Five main areas of artificial intelligence application in the digital marketing of foreign libraries have been identified: chatbots, recommendation systems, smart libraries, digital archives, and user behaviour analysis. Prospects for the implementation of AI include personalization of user experience through content recommendations based on user’s preferences and search history; improvement of search functionality by providing more accurate and relevant results; increasing user engagement through real-time interaction with chatbots; analysis of user behaviour to develop targeted marketing campaigns; simplification of analysis of large amounts of data and identification of patterns and trends; automation of routine tasks, etc. Challenges in using AI technologies: lack of necessary resources, technical and technological recommendations, knowledge and skills, etc. Libraries can organize cooperation with AI specialists or other libraries that have already implemented AI fragments; identify areas that require improvement and investment; identify staff with the necessary skills and knowledge to manage and support smart technologies; consider ICT gadgets as a means of efficiently providing information services; and work to improve the efficiency of information and communication technologies; constantly improve their skills and evaluate and adapt services and technologies; have a clearly defined marketing strategy and AI implementation plan that meet the library’s goals and objectives.

Implementation of Facebook Marketplace for Convection and Embroidery UMKM Products (Jack Convection Medan) as an Effort to Increase Online Marketing and Sales

This research is entitled Implementation of Facebook Marketplace for Convection and Embroidery UMKM Products (Jack Convection Medan) as an Effort to Increase Online Marketing and Sales. The purpose of this research is to promote library services at the Muhammadiyah University of North Sumatra. The aim of the research is to find out that social media (Facebook) can provide convenience for MSME actors, especially for convection and embroidery business people. This study uses a descriptive qualitative research method. Marketing and sales of MSME products are currently carried out by participating in various MSME product exhibitions organized by the government and business actors who provide exhibition facilities, broadcast messages, and wait for customers to arrive at the store. This way of disseminating information is not effective because it does not reach people who live far from museums or retail locations that hold exhibitions. Facebook has a marketplace feature that allows promotions and sales to be unlimited by space and time, making it one of the social media platforms that is currently widely used and in demand by MSME players. By utilizing the Facebook marketplace, MSME can more easily market their products and make sales via smartphones, which will help them increase their sales growth. The results of this research are expected to be input for MSME actors who are pioneering or who are already successful, namely how to promote their products via Facebook in this modern era so that their products are widely accessible to many people. .

Library services marketing: An overview of strategies and outcomes

In an increasingly digital age, libraries have been compelled to adapt and innovate in order to remain relevant and effectively serve their communities. Library marketing has emerged as a critical discipline to promote library services, engage users, and communicate the library's value in a rapidly changing landscape. This article provides an overview of library marketing strategies, explores various methodologies employed in this field, examines the results achieved through these efforts, and concludes with key takeaways for effective library marketing. To gather insights on library marketing, a comprehensive review of the literature was conducted. Key references, including "Digital Marketing Practices in Academic Libraries" by Chauhan and Gupta, "Marketing and Advocacy for Academic Libraries" by Fabry and Hernon, and "Libraries as Information Ecosystems" by Johnson, were analyzed. The methodologies employed in these studies encompassed systematic literature reviews, case studies, and surveys, providing a well-rounded perspective on library marketing practices. The examination of library marketing strategies revealed a diverse range of approaches utilized by libraries worldwide. These include leveraging digital platforms and social media, developing targeted outreach campaigns, fostering community partnerships, implementing user-centric services, and employing data analytics for informed decision-making. These efforts have yielded significant outcomes, such as increased user engagement, expanded patron base, heightened visibility, and improved perceptions of libraries as vibrant community spaces. Library marketing has become an indispensable discipline for libraries to thrive in the digital age. The reviewed literature highlights the importance of adopting a strategic and user-focused approach to marketing, tailoring services to meet the evolving needs of patrons, and effectively communicating the library's value proposition. By embracing innovative marketing strategies, libraries can enhance their impact, attract new users, and foster meaningful connections with their communities. This article concludes with a call to further explore and refine library marketing practices to ensure libraries remain vital and valued institutions in the digital era.

Trends and issues relating to social media utilisation in academic libraries: Experiences from the University of Limpopo subject librarians

Background: As social media tools spread across every aspect of human life, academic librarians were apt to be their early adopters to boost the service provision in academic libraries.Objective: Guided by Technology Acceptance Model, this article examined a variety of social media tools used by academic librarians; usage and usefulness of social media; organisational support provided to academic librarians to use social media; and the factors that impede usage of social media in academic libraries.Methodology: This article employed a qualitative research methodology through semi- structured interviews with 10 purposively selected academic librarians attached to the University of Limpopo library.Results: The results showed that respondents were mostly familiar with WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, which they used in their personal capacity. However, in their work environment, they utilised the library blog and Facebook to market and promote library services and to liaise with their users in schools or faculties. Restrictions of access to social media platforms during working hours, lack of skills, own social media policy and management support in the form of training were found to be factors that impede social media usage by academic librarians.Conclusion: Social media have a great deal of potential to contribute immensely towards the delivery of information services in academic libraries, though they are neglected.Contribution: Incorporation of social media in library work environment requires social media policies and subject librarians to be well equipped with different kinds of social media platforms for the advantage of academic libraries and their users.

Use of Social Media in Marketing of Library and Information Services in Academic libraries in West Bengal

The main aim of this research paper is to find out use, advantages and problems faced by the library and information professionals in West Bengal in marketing through social media. For this study thirteen (13) college libraries in West Bengal were selected as a research sample. The findings of this research proved that most of the college libraries use WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn for publicity of library services. Most of the libraries use social media for marketing library resources and services, for circulating library news and events for research purpose. A face-to-face interview method are used for data collection in this study. Library professionals gives their important views and suggestions about ways of promoting library services through social media.

The COVID-19 Pandemic and the Rapid Shift to an Exclusively Online Format: Tracking Online Instructors’ Utilization of Library Services Over a Year of Virtual Learning at the University of Memphis

At the beginning of the Spring 2020 semester, academic institutions in the United States shifted rapidly to virtual instruction amid the COVID-19 pandemic. This shift forced the libraries associated with these institutions to create innovative ways to reach faculty, staff, and students in an online mode. At the University of Memphis, librarians enhanced many existing online services and developed new ones. This study tracks the utilization of these services by online instructors during the span of one year since the COVID-19 pandemic began. The methods were mixed, involving a survey soliciting information from online instructors using both qualitative and quantitative methods and follow-up interviews conducted privately and virtually with teaching faculty and staff. This article presents the findings of this research and details the plans for further action at the University of Memphis to enhance and promote library services to online faculty. The plan involves increasing the level of online marketing, involvement with faculty training, and the enhancement of existing services, specifically embedded librarianship.

Impact of a Hospital Library Service at a Regional Health Service in Australia

ABSTRACT Being able to advocate for health library value and impact with local data is crucial to provide important indicators of service viability, staff engagement, as well as impact so these can be communicated effectively to management within organizations. As a part of its advocacy, continuous improvement and quality program, Ballarat Health Services Library, undertook a project, to understand its local impact on clinical decision-making, patient care, organizational governance, and staff education. Survey data demonstrated direct impact on modified clinical practice (65.57%); advice given to patients (43.44%); choice of medications (27.87%); diagnosis (22.13%); choice of tests (13.11%); and length of patient stay (12.30%). Perceptions of library impact were also high with 95.28% of respondents indicating impact on effective patient care. While service gaps were identified across advocacy and promotion of library services, the data from this study will inform strategic planning objectives and improve advocating the Library’s impact to management.

Instagram for student learning and library promotions: a quantitative study using the 5E Instructional Model

PurposeLibraries worldwide, including Hong Kong, increasingly use social media tools to introduce and promote their services and resources to users. Instagram, in particular, is used to target younger users. This study investigates the effectiveness of Instagram in promoting library services and university students' perceptions of the value of Instagram as a learning support tool.Design/methodology/approachA major academic library in Hong Kong was chosen for this study. Library users' habits, perceptions, preferences, and views on Instagram's effectiveness as a learning support tool were compared in two age groups. The data were collected using a survey based on the 5E Instructional Model.FindingsDespite the significantly higher frequency of Instagram use by younger students, the results showed that Instagram was probably an ineffective promotion platform for either age group because of low user engagement, relatively neutral perception of Instagram as a learning support tool, and notably low user acceptance of Instagram as a promotional tool.Originality/valueStudies of student perspectives on various social media tools have increased; however, few have explored the use of Instagram, especially in Hong Kong or Asia. This study provides researchers and librarians with practical insights into current Instagram users' engagement, perceptions, and preferences and their view of its effectiveness as a learning support tool. The study also provides suggestions for improving the current situation.

Policy Implementation of Luwu Regional Library Development Policy

This study aims to measure the implementation of regional library development service policies in Luwu Regency based on 4 indicators, namely: development and arrangement of library service systems, promotion of library services and promotions, development of future library services, and development of integrated service systems with libraries and information centers. This study uses a quantitative method with non-probability sampling technique that is exploratory, the determination of the sample is carried out by purposive sampling involving 194 respondents consisting of: Regional Librarians. Campus/School/Mosque Librarians, Community Reading Park Librarians (TBM), Village Library Librarians, Literacy Activists, and Library Visitors. The results showed that the development and arrangement of the library service system was in good category, namely 55%, service promotion and library promotion was in good category, 57%, future library service development was in good category, which was 52%, and the development of integrated service system with libraries and information centers was in the good category. good that is 56%.

A gamified mobile application for first-year student orientation to promote library services

This study proposes a mobile application as a new approach for first-year student orientation to promote knowledge of library services using the gamification concept. The application is based on mobile devices with GPS to locate students, allowing them to catch, collect, and battle monsters around the library with questions on library service instructions. To evaluate the learning effectiveness of the approach, we performed a comparative experiment in which the control group used e-learning, while the experimental group used the mobile application of the CMU Journey. We evaluated the pre-and post-test scores, delayed 1-month post-test scores, and intrinsic motivation based on the IMI questionnaire. The results demonstrated that the preference for gamified experience among students can enhance knowledge retention and intrinsic motivation compared to other groups.

Libraries of pedagogical institutions of higher education on social media

The article aims to explore nowadays promoting conditions of libraries of pedagogical institutions of higher education on social media and define effectiveness criteria of this process. Content analysis of official accounts of 19 libraries of pedagogical institutions of higher education in Ukraine is provided. Based on the results of content analysis the authors explore the current state of representing their information products and services on social networks, specify the factors that contribute to the effectiveness of promoting library services among users. The authors indicate the following factors which influence the followers number: correct use of hashtags, authenticity and frequency of content updating, maximum content synchronization of the library profiles on various social networks for uniform information and involvement of their target audiences; insight and successful use of functionality of various social networks by librarians.

Application of Marketing Techniques in Library Services and Challenges Faced by University Librarians in Sri Lanka

Libraries should explore the marketing strategies to be used to promote their services among users, to entice new users and retain existing users. The objectives of this study were to find out the marketing techniques used in Sri Lankan university libraries and identify the challenges that university librarians face when marketing their services. The study involved 130 academic staff members of the libraries in 15 state universities established under the purview of the University Grants Commission in Sri Lanka. The total population was considered as the sample and the data were collected through self-administered questionnaire. The data were analyzed using the SPSS software package considering the mean and standard deviation. There were 105 valid questionnaires among returns, and the response rate was 80.8%. As per the results, library websites, user orientation seminars, notice boards, and e-mail notifications were most frequently used to promote library services. Mobile applications, blogs and podcasts were rarely used to promote library services in Sri Lankan universities. The mean ratings of perceived challenges in the marketing of library services by university librarians in Sri Lanka were considered. Lack of networking among librarians (3.54) was identified as a significant challenge faced by Sri Lankan university librarians when marketing their services. Other significant challenges were unawareness of library user requirements, insufficient funds for marketing, increased cost of marketing and lack of skills in marketing library services. This concludes that Sri Lankan university librarians market their library services using an array of techniques and come across various challenges while adopting marketing techniques to their services. To overcome these challenges libraries should consider appointing a marketing librarian for each university library and establish a collaboration between them, develop a unique marketing strategy for each library, and allocation of funds for marketing library services.

Promoting Library Services in an Age of Data Insecurity

ABSTRACT While libraries have always embraced patron privacy, librarians often fail to promote their core values. User data flows across social media outlets and search engines to the detriment of the individual. Lax safeguards enable credit card information, social security numbers, emails, and other sensitive data to be hacked. Academic libraries offer a secure anonymous experience with database platforms that reject personalization while maintaining user privacy. Academic libraries have an ethical responsibility to educate students about the challenges of maintaining information privacy and security. When students are cognizant of the current reality, they will be able make informed decisions moving forward. When corporate practices are actively compared to our own, we will engender greater institutional respect for our services and values.
