IMPLEMENTAÇÃO DA METODOLOGIA BIM EM ESCRITÓRIO DE PEQUENO PORTE DE ENGENHARIA CIVIL EM JARU/RO

The BIM methodology has been implemented globally in the construction sector, becoming an essential tool for professionals due to its efficiency, quality and savings it provides in the project development and management process. Although its application on the international scene has been occurring for years, Brazil faces some challenges in fully implementing this system, which results in inefficiencies in projects, rework at construction sites, longer completion times and high costs. The use of BIM involves making several project stages compatible, with precise detailing and checking construction interferences, thus facilitating the execution of the work and increasing the client's reliability through efficiency and transparency. Therefore, this work consists of analyzing the BIM implementation process, identifying motivating factors, difficulties and changes in project practices. As a parameter for analyzing the objectives, the methodology was based on a case study together with an engineering office working mainly in public projects. With this, it was observed that understanding BIM and continuous training are crucial for efficiency and competitiveness in the market, highlighting the importance of cultural transformation within companies for the successful adoption of this methodology.

What is the structure of a Challenge Based Learning project? A shortitudinal trajectory analysis of student process behaviours in an interdisciplinary engineering course

ABSTRACT Challenge Based Learning (CBL) is an educational approach that has gained popularity in response to the need for authentic learning environments. While the CBL literature is predominantly focused on cases of pedagogical implementations, the actual processes by which students develop CBL projects remain under-investigated. This shortitudinal study seeks to examine the phases of CBL project development and associated process behaviours at group level, as they unfold. The participants are 6 interdisciplinary student groups totalling 22 students enrolled in a first-year course on ethics and data analytics. Data was collected weekly throughout 10 weeks via reflective diaries (n = 15 students) and observation of course sessions (n = 22) and is complemented by interviews after course completion (n = 15). The data was subject to a thematic trajectory analysis. The study identifies 7 distinct phases in the temporal structure of a CBL project: gaining client know-how, articulating a problem, mapping the problem context, setting the aim, proposing an action path, testing and evaluating it, and implementing the solution. The article concludes with recommendations for further research into CBL project development processes, which may support the growing adoption of real-life interdisciplinary projects in engineering education.

A review of drivers and barriers of Digital Twin adoption in building project development processes

Over the past few years, the AECO Industry has undergone a shift toward digital transformation, with a growing trend towards adopting innovative technologies such as Digital Twin (DT). DT offers a wide range of applications throughout the building development process. However, some specific factors impede its widespread adoption in the building industry. This study aims to systematically review the available literature on the building project development process from the perspective of DT, with a particular focus on predictive simulations, i.e., co-sims. The review provides a comprehensive overview of drivers and barriers to DT adoption through an analysis of 147 studies between 2013 and 2023. The research identifies seven external and 41 internal drivers, including efficient project management and monitoring, predictive maintenance, and the collection and visualization of real-time data, all of which contribute to improved decision-making processes and reduced operational expenses. Further, the study identifies nine external and 31 internal barriers that impede the adoption of DT in the building development process. These barriers encompass challenges such as a high initial investment cost, a scarcity of a skilled workforce, difficulties in data interoperability, and resistance to change within the organization. A key outcome of the literature review is having identified the opportunity to exploit technologies developed in the automotive sector that enable a seamless integration of specialized simulator models in building development processes, resulting in collaborative simulations. Thus, we propose the concept of a Building Simulation Identity Card (BSIC) to be pursued in future research that would enable stakeholders to address the challenges of collaboration, cooperation, coordination, and communication by creating a common vocabulary to effectively facilitate the adoption of DT in the building's development process.

Gesture Detection System using OpenCV

In the rapidly evolving landscape of human-computer interaction, our project delves into the innovative realm of gesture detection technology. This study presents the development of a sophisticated Gesture Detection System, a responsive interface bridging the gap between human hand movements and digital actions. With the invaluable support of our project supervisor, Mrs. V. M. Khanapure, our project not only explores the intricate nuances of gesture recognition but also showcases the collaborative spirit of our team. Utilizing OpenCV and MediaPipe libraries, our system employs advanced computer vision algorithms for real-time hand tracking and precise gesture recognition. The project’s success is not only attributed to the technical acumen of our team members but also to the seamless cooperation and encourageme Among them. Furthermore, the availability of essential resources provided by Mr.V. Nitnaware Principal, PLGPL, significantly bolstered our project development process. This abstract encapsulates a journey of collaborative innovation, highlighting the symbiotic relationship between technology and teamwork. Integrating innovation in teaching of special care dentistry: Exploration of students’ perceptions

Introduction: This study was undertaken to investigate students’ perceptions of innovation-integrated learning, adopted as an alternative approach for special care dentistry (SCD) training. Methods: Ninety final-year dental students from the 2021 cohort were divided into eight groups to complete an innovation project dedicated to eight categories of patients with special health care needs. Discussion and final presentations, involving related experts were conducted remotely via an online platform. Then, students were invited to answer a validated online feedback survey on their perceptions of the learning approach. Results: The response rate for the feedback survey was 91.1% (n=82). Most students agreed that the activity was interesting, improved their knowledge and understanding of SCD, allowed engagement between peers, supported sharing of ideas and experiences, encouraged student–lecturer interactions, and enhanced knowledge integration and application. Students also expressed that the activity enhanced creativity and innovation, instilled an interest and positive attitude toward learning SCD, and encouraged teamwork. However, a few students noted facing some limitations in completing their projects (i.e., technological challenges and reduced physical access to purchase materials). Around half felt neutral about having an increased workload from this activity. Moreover, perceptions differed regarding time and financial commitments, as well as supervisors’ and patients’ involvement during the project development process. A-ITIL, ITIL and Agile Based Advanced Framework for Managing Software and IT Related Bau: A Systematic Literature Review

In today's rapidly evolving environment, two critical factors for organizations to maintain their competitive edge are speed to market and adaptability. Over the past ten years, a significant number of organizations have achieved success in delivering IT services by utilizing IT management frameworks. One widely adopted framework in this domain is ITIL, an abbreviation for the IT Infrastructure Library. ITIL serves as a guiding framework, facilitating the attainment of high-quality IT service management at an organizational level. When it comes to software development, it is crucial for managers and development teams to select an appropriate methodology that aligns with their project's needs. Agile software development is one prominent approach based on iterative and incremental development. It has gained significant prominence in the IT industry due to its ability to enhance project development processes. Combining ITIL and Agile methodologies has proven to be a valuable strategy for streamlining project development in the IT industry. This fusion results in what is known as the Agile-ITIL combined framework, often referred to as A-ITIL. This paper primarily focuses on the integration of ITIL processes with agile phases, shedding light on the amalgamation of ITIL and Agile with other frameworks and technologies. Furthermore, it examines the utilization of ITIL and Agile in various companies, offering valuable insights into how these methodologies can be applied effectively. Consequently, this publication is a valuable resource for researchers seeking comprehensive knowledge in the ITIL and Agile-related domains. It aims to identify potential avenues for future research and development in this dynamic field.

Time Series Forecasting during Software Project State Analysis

Repositories of source code and their hosting platforms are important data sources for software project development and management processes. These sources allow for the extraction of historical data points for the product development process evaluation. Extracted data points reflect the previous development experience and allow future planning and active development tracking. The aim of this research is to create a predictive approach to control software development based on a time series extracted from repositories and hosting platforms. This article describes the method of extracting parameters from repositories, the approach to creating time series models and forecasting their behavior. Also, the article represents the proposed approach for software project analyses based on fuzzy logic principles. The novelty of this approach is the ability to perform an expert evaluation of different stages of software product development based on the forecasted values of interested parameters and a fuzzy rule base.

Collaborative Action Research with diverse stakeholders: Building the Disability Champions Mentoring Network

Historically based systemic oppressions have exacerbated disparities in post-school outcomes among youth with disabilities transitioning to adulthood. Using a community action research (CAR) approach, the Disability Champions Mentoring Network was founded by a community of diverse stakeholders to address inequities in transition outcomes. Centering transition as a cultural practice, the project connected theoretical frameworks to develop a supportive community through interagency collaboration and mentorship. We conducted a self-examination using deductive category application and an open coding process to identify major themes in the project development process. The themes identified by collaborators include self-determination/mentorship, authentic interagency collaborative processes, identify needs, barriers and resources, and promote public awareness. Project achievements and barriers recognized by the community network are discussed in the context of the CAR model. Implications for policy, programming, and research are considered.

Risk Mitigation and Monitoring Challenges in Software Organizations: A Morphological Analysis

Context: The present body of research on risk mitigation focuses mostly on sparse and dispersed research using various approaches during project development.
 Objectives: This paper's goals are to conceptualize and construct a morphological analysis (MA) framework, examine the literature that has already been published on these risks and how to mitigate them in software development, and identify research gaps that suggest areas for further study.
 Methods: Based on a survey of 102 works, we provide an MA framework. The MA framework, which is composed of five dimensions and 17 variants, identifies 33 distinct research gaps as the maximum number of potential areas for future study. The implications for future research are covered in the paper's conclusion. Risk reduction during the project development process is extremely beneficial for project managers at an organization in delivering high-quality goods on time and within budget.
 Results: Based on a review of the literature, it was discovered that the development of software projects used a very low percentage of official risk mitigation and elimination methods. Research also revealed the significance of people-related risks in the risk mitigation process for the benefit of the organization. Some key research demonstrated experimentation, case studies, and empirical approaches for evaluation. Future work may include examining project managers' perceptions and knowledge of risk management. Managers of software development teams require greater risk-mitigation strategies.
 Conclusion: Scholars and researchers need to put more effort into developing quantitative and intelligent risk models. It is crucial to identify major risks so that they won't compromise the project's future success. In our future work, we can employ more models that are helpful for combining quantitative and intelligent risk models using various AI strategies to reduce hazards.

Managing Uncertainties During the Development Process of Technological Innovation Projects: Lean Startup Contributions

During the development of technological innovation projects, the team has difficulty to identify and managing uncertainties, which represents a challenge to bring the technologies closer to the market. Although there are studies on the management of uncertainties in innovation projects in different contexts of organizations, no studies were found relating to the adoption of Lean Startup (LS) practices and the management of uncertainties during the development of technological project processes in academic environments. Thus, this research aims to identify the uncertainties that can be mitigated during the development of these technological projects using LS practices. A multiple case study was conducted within a Brazilian federal university to fill this gap, analyzing nine technological innovation projects. The research consisted of identifying the uncertainties experienced by the project innovation development team before and after the application of LS practices. In the end, the uncertainties were analyzed in the context of each technological project, considering the mitigation achieved after applying the LS practices, and comparing them with their initial state. As a result, it was observed that the initial uncertainty categories most experienced by the project teams were related to products and resources, especially those related to knowledge and team profile. When evaluating the uncertainties after applying the LS practices, it was possible to observe that the most mitigated uncertainties were related to resources followed by the business model, the latter being the third most experienced in the initial scenario of the project development process. On the other hand, the uncertainties related to products were the ones that presented the least mitigation. Regarding resource uncertainties, the LS practices contributed to the mitigation, specifically those related to process quality, obtaining resources and knowledge, and team profile. As for the uncertainties observed in the business model, better results were observed specifically in those focused on marketing strategy, pilot production, and definition of the revenue model. It is concluded that the LS practices made more significant contributions to the business-related uncertainties than to product-related ones since product-related uncertainties were the ones that obtained the lowest mitigation results.

Innovation in Green Building Projects: An Exploratory Inquiry

Green building (GB) projects, although being developed and operated for more than two decades, may still be regarded as innovative. To address the socio-environmental challenges of the built environment, GBs need to continuously innovate. A comprehensive account of the innovation frontiers and factors affecting GB project innovation is missing in previous studies. In this study, for an in-depth understanding of what makes these projects innovative and how to create an enabling environment for their innovation, semi-structured interviews with 45 GB experts from six regions were conducted. Innovation in GBs was found to be a function of the GB idea, constituent building technologies, potential performance, and the project development process. Key frontiers where innovation in GB projects is needed include environmental performance, health and well-being, and the resolution of mutually contradicting project aspirations. The study also identified some factors contributing to innovation in GBs, which are primarily related to support from the government, client, and project team; availability of time and budget; scalability of innovative solutions; and nature of the construction industry. A nexus between green certifications, sustainability, and innovation is also explained. The awareness and understanding of industry experts regarding GB project innovation will add to the theory of GB projects and green innovation, and will help stakeholders to create a more enabling environment for innovation.

Enhancing Software Project Monitoring with Multidimensional Data Repository Mining

Software project development and maintenance activities have been reported in various repositories. The data contained in these repositories have been widely used in various studies on specific problems, e.g., predicting bug appearance, allocating issues to developers, and identifying duplicated issues. Developed analysis schemes are usually based on simplified data models while issue report details are neglected. Confronting this problem requires a deep and wide-ranging exploration of software repository contents adapted to their specificities, which differs significantly from classical data mining. This paper is targeted at three aspects: the structural and semantic exploration of repositories, deriving characteristic features in value and time perspectives, and defining the space of project monitoring goals. The considerations presented demonstrate a holistic image of the project development process, which is useful in the assessment of its efficiency and identification of imperfections. The original analysis introduced in this work was verified using open source and some commercial software project repositories.

Sumber Daya Proyek Konstruksi Patimban Port Development Project yang Mempengaruhi Kinerja Kontraktor

Construction project resources are one of the essential things in a construction phase. Every year, contractor performance decreases due to limitations in managing and managing project resources. One way contractors can deal with these problems is to improve quality performance during construction. One of the causes of problems at work is the resource factor. The resource factor in the construction process dramatically influences the contractor's performance. This study aims to analyze how much influence each factor of project resources (human resources, materials, equipment, implementation methods and information technology) of the project has Connecting Bridge, Patimban Port Development Project. The study collected sample data on 33 people involved in the project development process analysis using SEM-PLS analysis with the help of SmartPLS 3.0. From testing, this study's results indicate a positive and significant influence between the variables of human resources, materials, equipment amd implementation methods. This study's results obtained from the R square for the contractor performance variable were 0.809. It means that the percentage of human, material, equipment, implementation methods and information technology resources is 80.9%, while other factors influence the remaining 19.1%.

Leveraging Technology for MSME Development: A Case Study of the Sistem Informasi Hasil Desa (SIHASA) V2 in Banyumas Regency

Banyumas Regency in Central Java Province comprises 27 districts and 331 villages, showcasing its vast geographical coverage. Over three years, from 2006 to 2009, the region witnessed a notable increase in small businesses, rising from 643 to 717 establishments. Despite this growth, MSMEs in Banyumas face a prevalent challenge of inadequate information dissemination for effectively promoting their products. To tackle this issue, a proposed solution is the Village Results Information System (SIHASA) V2 website. This website supports village communities, MSMEs, and governments in managing their respective activities and operations. To expedite the creation of the system, the Rapid Application Development (RAD) method is employed, encompassing essential stages such as project requirement determination, prototype creation, development processes, and gathering feedback.
 Furthermore, to ensure an efficient system design, the implementation of Unified Modeling Language (UML) is integrated, incorporating crucial components like Use Case Diagrams and Class Diagrams. This meticulous design approach guarantees that the system effectively caters to the community's diverse needs, specifically benefiting the village community in Banyumas Regency in terms of managing village products and facilitating efficient MSME operations. The outcomes of this research endeavor hold significant promise for the community, providing practical tools and resources to enhance their livelihoods and contribute to the overall development of the Banyumas Regency.

FACE VALIDATION IN LARGE-SCALE SIMULATION PROJECTS

Face validation is an informal type of validation, usually applied in the early stages of a simulation project or model development process. Face validation is used to determine the reasonableness of a model or simulation when advanced validation methods such as statistical analysis or sensitivity analysis are not applicable. In large-scale simulation projects such as warfare simulation applications, which consist of a large number and variety of models that cannot be evaluated independently and contain high levels of uncertainty, face validation should be utilized, but no standard method for face validation can be proposed. In this paper, we review the literature and practical applications of face validation. We propose a process to improve the effectiveness of face validation. The proposed process is expected to help to realize a measurable, concrete and practical face validation, especially in large-scale projects involving high-fidelity complex models and constructive simulations.

Evaluating and Incorporating Utility Coordination Practices into the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Project Development Process

Utility relocations have been identified as one of the leading causes of delays in transportation projects. Over time, national perceptions about how state transportation agencies (STAs) should work with utility companies (UCs) have changed. The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC), like other STAs, faces many challenges related to utility work. This paper presents the findings of a research project funded by KYTC, which aimed to evaluate the current KYTC utility coordination process to identify opportunities for improvement and propose a new approach for enhancing the alignment of this process and the highway design process. Researchers crafted this new approach based on the findings of a literature review, an evaluation of the current alignment between the utility coordination and highway design processes, and experiences and lessons learned from other STAs. This approach was developed iteratively in consultation with the project’s Study Advisory Committee. Research findings suggest viewing utility coordination as an opportunity to partner with UCs. In addition, the early identification of potential utility conflicts and minimizing utility-related project risks during the early stages of project development by avoiding, minimizing, and mitigating all utility conflicts when feasible are encouraged. Project findings were used to develop a guidance document to assist the implementation of a new approach and an associated Utility Coordination Training Program. This guidance document includes suggestions for identifying, managing, and mitigating utility-related risks using utility conflict management, provides information on the strategic use of subsurface utility engineering, and offers recommendations for managing consultant-led utility coordination.

Objective Geographic Information System-Based Context Classification Approach Using Nationally Available Data

For decades the functional classification system (FCS) has guided roadway planning and design in the U.S.A. However, the FCS has a narrow focus, is auto centric, and because of its reliance on a binary classification scheme it lacks the resolution needed to develop context-sensitive designs. National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) Report 855, An Expanded Functional Classification for Highways and Streets, introduced an expanded context classification system that supports more integrative and context-adapted roadway designs. This system was subsequently adopted in the seventh edition of the Policy of Geometric Design for Highways and Streets ( Green Book). Transitioning from the FCS to context classification entails a major shift in design practices. The context sets expectations for each setting and informs project development. Despite its advances, NCHRP Report 855 lacks guidance on quantitative measures for performing roadway classification. This paper resolves this issue by presenting an objective geographic information system (GIS)-based process transportation agencies can adopt to define contexts and weave context classification into the entire project development process. The proposed classification is based on measures that can be computed using readily available data, such as the TIGER/Line roadway data, U.S. Census urban-area data, U.S. Census population and employment data at the tract level, building polygon data, and GIS-derived intersection and street data. The application process outlined here provides the basic steps for implementing context classification at the state, regional, or project level.

Integrating Project Management, Software Development, and Knowledge Management Models: A Case Study in a Public ICT Services Organization

In project-based organizations knowledge is a critical resource used to develop and deliver products and services with a high level of quality. Therefore, a systematic and sustainable process is necessary to coordinate knowledge management, project management and product lifecycle. This scenario predominates in companies focused on the creation and maintenance of information systems. This article presents an exploratory study based on a framework that integrates cognitive, managerial, and operational processes in a public Brazilian organization that provides services in the area of information and communications technology, focusing on the construction and maintenance of information systems. Those processes are operationalized by three management models considering knowledge, project, and software development processes. Our proposal aims to understand the relationships between those three management models and their influence on the software development process in the organization under study. Our premise is based on the principle that cognitive management, project management, and software development management must be integrated to fulfill the demands of product development and service provision. The research data was composed of registers of working hours spent on software development and maintenance projects involving 244 people allocated to 5064 projects in the period from 2007 to 2013. The study resulted in the identification of the relationships among the three management models adopted by the organization, with emphasis on knowledge management activities, which were not directly identified, making it difficult to account for and measure them. We established a set of activities connected to each one of the knowledge management model phases. Since those activities were not visible before, our approach contributed to build a systematic process to register and relate activities linked to the dimensions of cognitive processes, project management, and software construction.

BUSINESS COMMUNICATIONS IN PROJECT MANAGEMENT OF INTERNATIONAL COMPANIES

Purpose. The aim of this study is to investigate the impact of business communications on project management in international companies. The study aims to identify the main dependencies and provide recommendations for their effective application in company activities. Methodology of research. The study employed various scientific methods, including the analytical method for literature review, the classification method to differentiate the main components of business communication's impact on project management, the description method for detailed explanation, the monographic method to study literature on business communication elements in project management, and the systematic-analytical method for processing obtained information. Findings. This text discusses the theoretical, organizational, and practical foundations of business communications in project management. It argues that effective business communications in project management can aid in the management of knowledge and human resources, the rational use of virtual teams, and the development of digital skills. The text describes the process of project development and implementation, including the necessary business communication procedures, is substantiated. The author presents their vision of the project implementation process in international companies. Originality. The substantiation of the life cycle of business communications in the project management of an international company at different stages has been further developed. The key stages and algorithms for implementing effective business communications in a company are identified. Practical value. The authors' proposals regarding the development of business communication processes in project management of an international company can enhance the efficiency of their activities. Context Classification: A New Approach for Improving Highway Design

The Functional Classification System (FCS) in the US has been the driving force in developing and designing roadway projects. FCS was originally developed as a basis for communication between designers and planners but since then, it has expanded and is used throughout the entire project development process and more importantly serves as a surrogate for design inputs (e.g., design speed). However, the FCS has a narrow focus, and it is auto centric. The limited contextual definitions (urban and rural) do not provide the dynamic range of design elements and guidance needed to balance other competing project needs and it lacks the resolution needed to develop context-sensitive designs. NCHRP Report 855 introduced an expanded context classification system that supports more integrative and context-adapted roadway designs. This system was adopted in the 7th Edition of the Policy of Geometric Design for Highways and Streets (Green Book). Transitioning from functional classification to context classification entails a major shift in design practices. Context sets expectations for each setting and informs the entire project development process. This paper presents an update of the Green Book's context classifications and introduces the concept of Transportation Expectations, which are fundamental concepts that define how users expect to move in each context. Examples of applications are presented that explore these concepts and discuss how they could facilitate multimodal roadway designs — the focal point of upcoming Green Book 8th Edition.
