The article examines project-based learning at State University of Education as a new form of the educational process. Through a brief history of projectbased learning (project method), its advantages and purpose for the development of students’ personalities and their professional training are shown. The results of a study (online survey) of State University students regarding their experience of working on a project are presented: the qualities that project work and cooperation within its framework develop are identified, the difficulties of its implementation are verified from the point of view of project team members, etc. Examples of topics in project work of students of the department are given personnel management and its results are presented.

Sustainability in technical theatre pedagogy and practice

In March 2023, third-year Technical Theatre (Production and Design) students at the University of Salford produced a festival of environmentally engaged design-led performance pieces focused on the climate crisis. All four productions were based on plays from Lighting the Way: An Anthology of Short Plays about the Climate Crisis (Bilodeau and Peterson 2020) and were devised and developed by the students, who were encouraged to be as sustainable as possible in both their designs and their execution. The festival was part of the first stage of our collaborative online international learning (COIL) project with Humber College in Toronto, which continued into 2024. In devising the projects, students were encouraged to consider concepts of affectivity, relationality and materiality in relation to expanded scenography (McKinney and Palmer 2017), the practice of scenography as a political act (Elnile 2020), and the ethics of ecoscenography (Beer n.d.). Using principles from the ABTT Green Book for sustainable productions (2021), all materials and equipment used in the final performances were either drawn from in-house stock or borrowed, repurposed or upcycled, encouraging further conversations around accessibility and our collective carbon footprint.

Recommendations for Case Learning Based of Local Wisdom Integrated with The Exo Olo Task Learning Model in Implementing The Merdeka Curriculum at Senior High School in Ambon City

Learning in the era of independent curriculum development is an opportunity for educators and education units to improve competence. Active and participatory learning is one of the targets in developing learning to implement the independent curriculum. Case learning is something that can be applied to realize the learning objectives of the independent curriculum. this study aims to provide recommendations for developing learning in the implementation of an independent curriculum in Ambon City Public High School. The integration of the Exo Olo Task learning model developed in local wisdom-based case learning is part of what is developed in this goal. This research was conducted in the form of descriptive qualitative research. In this case, collaboration (cooperation) with several related parties (Stake holders) to develop a local wisdom-based case learning pattern that supports the implementation of an independent curriculum in Ambon City State High School. Data obtained through observations and interviews were analyzed using qualitative research techniques using the mile and huberman method and continued with policy direction analysis through AHP method analysis. Recommendations are given with priority to 1) Increasing the use of local wisdom cases as participatory teaching materials and media, 2) Development of strategies and mastery of educators in preparing lesson plans, 3) socialization of independent curriculum-based learning programs, 4) increasing partnerships in developing learning projects and improving character through the project of strengthening the profile of Pancasila students (P5), 5) educator literacy education through reflection with outputs in the form of scientific papers with a Consistency Ratio of 0.09.

Organizational learning capacity and international development project success in West Africa: A case study

Very few studies have focused on organizational learning within a team as a key success factor for international development projects. In particular, the relationship between organizational learning capacity, organizational efficacy, and project success has received little attention. This is the objective of this case study. It explores this relationship based on 23 semi-structured interviews with project coordinators, team members, and beneficiaries of two projects financed by the West African Development Bank (WADB) in Benin and Senegal. The results show that the social process of developing organizational learning capacity within a project team is a crucial issue for organizational efficacy and project success. Points for practitioners Within a team, establishing a framework for developing organizational learning capacity, characterized by autonomy, experimentation, and interaction with stakeholders, is a key project success factor. Flexible and adaptive approaches may foster organizational learning and help explore, through action, new project capacities. Such approaches may help increase the odds of project success in terms of international development and, thus, create value for stakeholders including beneficiaries.

Discriminative Subspace Learning With Adaptive Graph Regularization

Abstract Many subspace learning methods based on low-rank representation employ the nearest neighborhood graph to preserve the local structure. However, in these methods, the nearest neighborhood graph is a binary matrix, which fails to precisely capture the similarity between distinct samples. Additionally, these methods need to manually select an appropriate number of neighbors, and they cannot adaptively update the similarity graph during projection learning. To tackle these issues, we introduce Discriminative Subspace Learning with Adaptive Graph Regularization (DSL_AGR), an innovative unsupervised subspace learning method that integrates low-rank representation, adaptive graph learning and nonnegative representation into a framework. DSL_AGR introduces a low-rank constraint to capture the global structure of the data and extract more discriminative information. Furthermore, a novel graph regularization term in DSL_AGR is guided by nonnegative representations to enhance the capability of capturing the local structure. Since closed-form solutions for the proposed method are not easily obtained, we devise an iterative optimization algorithm for its resolution. We also analyze the computational complexity and convergence of DSL_AGR. Extensive experiments on real-world datasets demonstrate that the proposed method achieves competitive performance compared with other state-of-the-art methods.

The advancement of technology and the concept of distance learning in the global context: Reaching out the unreachable

The field of education has changed significantly due to the rapid progress of technology, especially in the area of online learning. This paper examines how technology has enabled education to reach new populations worldwide, expanding access to learning opportunities. By examining present trends and advancements in distance learning technologies, this paper explains how technology has connected geographical, socio-economic, and cultural obstacles to education. It explores how digital platforms, virtual classrooms, online resources, and interactive learning tools can increase access to quality education and empower people regardless of where they are from or their background. Moreover, this study explores the difficulties and advantages linked with the worldwide adoption of remote learning projects. It explores topics like the digital divide, limitations in infrastructure, adjustments in teaching methods, and understanding different cultures, while also showcasing creative solutions and successful strategies used to tackle these obstacles. Using information from academic sources, real-life examples, and research studies, this paper enhances our comprehension of how technology-based remote learning is changing the global educational scenery. It highlights how using technology can help connect with those who are typically out of reach, promoting equal access to education for everyone.

Healthy Vulnerable Community and Institutional Change

Since its inception, we have thought of our active learning project at George Mason University as a community of practice: a network of like-minded faculty interested in student-centered teaching. This community approach is evident in our 2019 goals for institutional change which were to “diffuse active learning approaches to our department.” Very simply, we wanted to grow our community of active learning practitioners. In this article, we reflect on how a community foundation of vulnerability and trust shepherded us through rapid institutional change during a global pandemic. We describe how vulnerable leadership led to individual professional growth and then connect that professional growth to structural changes within our department.

Teaching systems thinking for sustainable development in business schools: A hands‐on project using the online news

AbstractBusiness schools have a responsibility for educating global citizens capable of understanding and addressing the major societal challenges of the 21st century. However, working on complex societal problems within business school curricula remains a challenge. This teaching brief presents a learning project that helps instructors introduce systems‐thinking skills into the classroom to address complex problems of sustainability. The project involves students studying an issue of their choice within one of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals and designing a multi‐stakeholder strategy to both alleviate problem symptoms and address their underlying causes and drivers. Analysis of student evaluations and feedback show that the project engages students and favors systems‐thinking skill acquisition. The project can be run either online or in the classroom, individually, in small teams, or with an entire class. It can be used by instructors for sustainable development, corporate social responsibility, and systems‐thinking classes, or be run as a capstone activity.

THE EFFECT OF THE PROJECT-BASED LEARNING MODEL ON THE ABILITY OF RATIONAL COUNTING IN GROUP B AT TK ISLAM AZ-ZAHRAH PALEMBANG

The basic ability of counting in children is important for the development of mathematics at a later stage so the selection of learning models can affect this ability. This study aims to see the effect of rational counting ability in group B of Az-Zahrah Islamic Kindergarten through a project-based learning model. The type of research used is pre-experiment with a shot case study design. The sampling technique used purposive sampling, namely class B4 with a total of 16 children using posttest and observation which will then be analyzed using a one-sample T-test. The results obtained are that the project-based learning model positively influences the ability of rational counting in group B of Az- Zahrah Palembang Islamic Kindergarten. This can be seen in the child’s score in each aspect, such as rote counting, one-to-one correspondence, counting, and cardinal, which has developed as expected. The results of this research can be an alternative for schools or educators in developing counting skills for group B through project learning.

Joint Anchor Graph Embedding and Discrete Feature Scoring for Unsupervised Feature Selection.

The success of existing unsupervised feature selection (UFS) methods heavily relies on the assumption that the intrinsic relationships among original high-dimensional (HD) data samples exist in the discriminative low-dimension (LD) subspace. However, previous UFS methods commonly construct pairwise graphs and employ l2,1 -norm regularization to severally preserve the local structure and calculate the score of features, which is computationally complex and easy to get stuck into local optimum, so that those approaches cannot be applied in dealing with large-scale datasets in practice. To overcome this challenge, we propose a novel UFS method, in which a novel anchor graph embedding paradigm is designed to extract the local neighborhood relationships among data samples by reducing the computational complexity of graph construction to be linear in the number of data. Moreover, to improve the optimality of selected features as well as the performance of downstream tasks, we propose a discrete feature scoring mechanism, which imposes orthogonal l2,0 -norm constraints on learned projections, in order to enhance the distinction of feature scores as well as reduce the probability of falling into local optimum. In addition, solving the proposed nonconvex and nonsmooth NP-hard problem is challenging, and we present an efficient optimization algorithm to address it and acquire a closed-form solution of the transformation matrix. Extensive experiments demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed UFS by comparison with several state-of-the-art approaches to clustering and image segmentation tasks.

Partial Tubal Nuclear Norm-Regularized Multiview Subspace Learning.

In this article, a unified multiview subspace learning model, called partial tubal nuclear norm-regularized multiview subspace learning (PTN2MSL), was proposed for unsupervised multiview subspace clustering (MVSC), semisupervised MVSC, and multiview dimension reduction. Unlike most of the existing methods which treat the above three related tasks independently, PTN2MSL integrates the projection learning and the low-rank tensor representation to promote each other and mine their underlying correlations. Moreover, instead of minimizing the tensor nuclear norm which treats all singular values equally and neglects their differences, PTN2MSL develops the partial tubal nuclear norm (PTNN) as a better alternative solution by minimizing the partial sum of tubal singular values. The PTN2MSL method was applied to the above three multiview subspace learning tasks. It demonstrated that these tasks organically benefited from each other and PTN2MSL has achieved better performance in comparison to state-of-the-art methods.

Bagaimana Hubungan antara Belief in Math dan Metode Project Based Learning dalam Pembelajaran Matematika?

Belief in math is a students' attitudes toward mathematics, where students can give a positive or negative response to the mathematics learning activities. Students are given a math problem and when complete it, they will think first, then by the time students are expected to make sure the answer and concepts used are appropriate. Any given cultivated mathematical problems always follow the real-world context in which the students participate actively and creatively. The task of project-based learning that given by the teacher to the students is one of some ways to solve the problem and make the students understand on their own way. This method was literature review that used to find out the relationship between student belief in math and learning mathematics using project based learning method. The relationship between belief in in math and project based learning is in their project learning that consists of several steps on their application aims to help students further develop, not only in knowledge but also belief in math student as the passage of the process of the project, students will be challenge theirself and trust to himself to completing their own projects.

The Influence of Play Based Learning Project on Learner Performance in Science and Elementary Technology and English Language Subjects

This study investigated the effects of Play-Based Learning (PBL) on student performance in Science and Elementary Technology (SET) and English language subjects at primary schools in Ruhango Sector, Ruhango District. The main objective of this study was to investigate the effects of play based learning on student performance of SET and English language subjects in Ruhango Sector, specifically the study focused on the effect of play based learning project, perception regarding the teacher’s roles on learner performance of SET and English language and establish the relationship between play-based learning project and learners’ performance of SET and English language subjects in primary school of Ruhango sector. The theories that guided research were Theory of Constraints (TOC) is a process designed to identify and eliminate constraints in organizational processes that hinder the achievement of organizational goals and Social Cognitive Theory is based on his central concept of self-efficacy. This study used a descriptive and correlational research designs. The target population was 150 people including headteachers and teachers. The sample size of was 96 teachers with backgrounds in SET and English language subjects and 12 headtechers. This study used questionnaire as a primary data source. The questionnaire involved written questions to which the teachers were required to write answers individually and interview guides were used to collect information from headteachers. Microsoft Office Excel was used for analyzing the results from the questionnaire and interview. The Pearson Correlation was used to test one hypothesis. The study concluded that Play Based Learning played an importance role in learner performance of Science and Elementary Technology and English language subjects through play-based activities. The research revealed a strong positive correlation between Project-Based Learning (PBL) initiatives and students' academic achievement in English language courses (r=.9650*, p=0.001). Similarly, a significant positive association was observed between Project-Based Learning (PBL) endeavours and learners' performance in Science, Elementary and Technology (SET) subjects (r=.9836*, p=0.001). The study recommends that teachers should regularly monitor content and adjust settings for individual learners. Finally, teachers should apply practices associated with engagement by determining if learner enjoy the game or want to play.

Project-Based Learning Method to Enhance Students’ Digital Business Competence in English Course

English is a compulsory subject studied in every study program. English is usually learned in the first and second semesters. This research aims to make English learning more enjoyable. This type of research is descriptive analysis. The instrument used is a questionnaire. The students involved in this research were 28 people from the digital business study program. This study found the correct type of project-based learning for students is role-playing by imitating conversations in English from a short video that is rich in moral values played by students and then made into a video. The second finding is that the results of the questionnaire as a research instrument concluded that the task of project learning was beneficial for them in understanding English learning.

How to Promote the Ability of Physics Teaching Materials Development through Team-Based Project Learning? An Action Research Evidence

This action research study investigates the use of team-based project learning to enhance the pedagogical competence of pre-service physics teachers, specifically focusing on their capacity to develop physics teaching materials. The study employed a five-stage strategy, which included the following steps: first action, observation, reinforcement, second action, and assessment. These phases formed a cycle of action research in a pedagogical course within the undergraduate program of physics education, specifically focused on teaching material development. Observation, assignments, product assessment sheets, and interviews were utilized to obtain data. The obtained data consists of quantitative data, namely performance value data related to both the process and product, as well as qualitative data in the form of interview findings. The findings indicate that 96% of pre-service teachers who engaged in material development courses through project activities had highly satisfactory marks, namely within the A- and A categories. This study emphasizes the significance of fostering efficient pedagogical techniques among prospective educators and provides data from an action research investigation. Furthermore, this research also assists in the preparation of pre-service physics instructors who possess the necessary skills to create physics textbooks. Participating in collaborative project activities allows pre-service physics teachers to gain essential skills, knowledge, and practical experiences that will prepare them for their future positions in the classroom.

Hybrid project learning and peer teaching as learning strategies for learners with high activity

The mosque is the Muslim community's place of worship and education. Regular worship occurs according to a timetable. However, educational activities require quite a long time, so the mosque management schedules learning activities periodically. In addition, mosque congregations have a very high diversity and density of activities, especially mosque congregations in urban areas. The management of urban mosques has difficulty organizing learning consistently because the congregation has difficulty meeting at the same time periodically. This paper offers a solution by teaching with a hybrid learning method between project learning and peer teaching. Projects are created based on the needs of the environment and the congregation. The project development team is formed from worshipers who can work on projects. Other congregants receive knowledge through the project development team when the project is in the process of being created and run. This hybrid learning was experimented with by creating an aquaponics project. Aquaponics is operated with solar electricity. The project development team consists of a congregation of children to parents. The project has successfully transferred knowledge to the project development team members. The project operation attracts non-team worshippers to discuss independently with team members. Some non-team members have developed fish farming independently.

IMPLEMENTATION OF DRIVING SCHOOLS IN FORMING PANCASILA STUDENT PROFILES

The purpose of this study was to find out the Implementation of the Driving School in Forming Pancasila–based Student Profiles. This research was conducted in the Driving School program at SMP Negeri 1 Karangtanjung, Pandeglang Regency. This research is a qualitative research using descriptive method of collecting data using observation, interview and documentation techniques. The results showed that the strategy used by the Driving School in forming the Pancasila-based Student Profiles was by conducting two different but interrelated learning, namely intra or general learning and thematic project learning. In addition, school principal has an important role in the process of forming the Pancasila-based Student Profiles and developing the teachers’ competencies. The obstacles faced by the school principal, teachers and students can be overcome by coordination and cooperation with the government, both among the teachers, and the students can be overcome by coordination and cooperation among the government, the teachers, the parents of students, the expert companions, and public education office.

Face Mask Recognition-based Door Lock Mechanism Using HaarCascade, Mediapipe, and Arduino

On 12 January 2020 Chinese authorities shared the sequence of a novel coronavirus termed severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Since then COVID-19 pandemic had rapidly affected our day-to-day life disrupting world trade and movements. Wearing face masks is one of the preventive measures recommended by health authorities to reduce the spread of respiratory droplets containing viruses, including the SARS-CoV-2 virus responsible for COVID-19. Therefore, Many regions and organizations have implemented regulations or guidelines mandating the use of face masks in specific settings. This Python-based Machine Learning project provides an automated way to monitor whether individuals in a given environment are wearing masks or not. Pre-trained Haar Cascade files are used to detect the facial features and provide a signal to the Arduino controller to lock/unlock the door.
