This proposed system deals with all transactions of actual ATM centers like login to customer account according to his pin number given, checking balance amount of savings account as well as current account. Also the account holder can deposit or withdraw amount from his current account or savings account respectively from any location. There will be no need of any human power to maintain the accounts. Since the all mathematical operation are done using program so it is error free and fast. The source independent java programming language is used to develop the system. Web Services and IT Management

Platform and programming language independence, coupled with industry momentum, has made Web services the technology of choice for most enterprise integration projects. Their close relationship with SOA (service-oriented architecture) has also helped them gain mindshare. Consider this definition of SOA: "An architectural style whose goal is to achieve loose coupling among interacting software agents. A service is a unit of work done by a service provider to achieve desired end results for a service consumer. Both provider and consumer are roles played by software agents on behalf of their owners." Although SOA doesn’t mandate Web services, its emphasis on loose coupling requires use of something with the characteristics of Web services.

A Retargetable Code Generator for the Generic Intermediate Language in COINS

This paper describes a generic intermediate language, called LIR, and a retargetable code generator for LIR, both of which were developed as part of the compiler for the COINS (COmpiler INfraStructure) project. Although the purpose and basic concepts of LIR are similar to those of RTL, the intermediate language of GCC, LIR is defined as an independent and self-contained programming language that has the constructs of a high-level language, such as variable declarations, and their formal semantics. As a result, LIR has several advantages over other representations currently in use. We can describe all compiler back-end passes as program transformations. Consequently, LIR provides a concise interface for interaction with the compiler for users who want to replace part of the compiler with their code. Most of the recently developed, retargetable code generators, such as Burg, IBurg, etc., are based on the DP matching method. Their machine description language consists of rewriting rules with code generation actions. However, the rules that are used to describe a machine do not correspond directly to any of the existing instructions of the target machine. On the other hand, the description language of GCC consists of descriptive statements that correspond to each of the target's existing machine instructions. However, the GCC code generator does not produce optimal code because it is not based on the DP method. Our code generator makes use of both the DP and GCC methods by translating the GCC descriptive statements into rewriting rules that are suitable for use by the DP matching method. Furthermore, DP matching is also implemented as a kind of transformation of an LIR program, and later transformations such as register allocation are applied to the resulting LIR program.

An affordable modular mobile robotic platform with fuzzy logic control and evolutionary artificial neural networks

AbstractAutonomous robotics projects encompass the rich nature of integrated systems that includes mechanical, electrical, and computational software components. The availability of smaller and cheaper hardware components has helped make possible a new dimension in operational autonomy. This paper describes a mobile robotic platform consisting of several integrated modules including a laptop computer that serves as the main control module, microcontroller‐based motion control module, a vision processing module, a sensor interface module, and a navigation module. The laptop computer module contains the main software development environment with a user interface to access and control all other modules. Programming language independence is achieved by using standard input/output computer interfaces including RS‐232 serial port, USB, networking, audio input and output, and parallel port devices. However, with the same hardware technology available to all, the distinguishing factor in most cases for intelligent systems becomes the software design. The software for autonomous robots must intelligently control the hardware so that it functions in unstructured, dynamic, and uncertain environments while maintaining an autonomous adaptability. This paper describes how we introduced fuzzy logic control to one robot platform in order to solve the 2003 Intelligent Ground Vehicle Competition (IGVC) Autonomous Challenge problem. This paper also describes the introduction of hybrid software design that utilizes Fuzzy Evolutionary Artificial Neural Network techniques. In this design, rather than using a control program that is directly coded, the robot's artificial neural net is first trained with a training data set using evolutionary optimization techniques to adjust weight values between neurons. The trained neural network with a weight average defuzzification method was able to make correct decisions to unseen vision patterns for the IGVC Autonomous Challenge. A comparison of the Lawrence Technological University robot designs and the design of the other competing schools shows that our platforms were the most affordable robot systems to use as tools for computer science and engineering education. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

Open architecture-based factory automation systems

This mainly discusses the next generation factory automation systems, i.e., open systems. Along the dimension of open architecture, it discusses some standardized methodologies involving Linux open source operating systems, platform independent programming languages, systematic object-oriented software engineering, web-based information publishing, virtual instrument-based system structure, distributed and embedded real-time systems, etc., and their applications in factory automation systems. The resulting open systems are capable of keeping up with the evolving requirements in the factory automation arena, and it is expected that the strict use of standards would bring benefits to enterprises in the long sight.

Integration of Microsoft Windows applications with MDSplus data acquisition on the National Spherical Torus Experiment at the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory

Data acquisition on the National Spherical Torus Experiment at the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL) has increasingly involved the use of Personal Computers and specially developed ‘turn-key’ hardware and software systems to control diagnostics. Interaction with these proprietary software packages is accomplished through use of Visual Basic, or Visual C++ and Component Object Model ( com) technology. com is a software architecture that allows the components made by different software vendors to be combined into a variety of applications. This technology is particularly well suited to these systems because of its programming language independence, standards for function calling between components, and ability to transparently reference remote processes. com objects make possible the creation of acquisition software that can control the experimental parameters of both the hardware and software. Synchronization of these applications for diagnostics, such as charged couple device cameras and residual gas analyzers, with the rest of the experiment event cycle at PPPL has been made possible by utilization of the MDSplus libraries for Windows. Instead of transferring large data files to remote disk space, Windows MDSplus events and I/O functions allow us to put raw data into MDSplus directly from interactive data language for Windows and Visual Basic. The combination of com technology and the MDSplus libraries for Windows provide the tools for many new possibilities in versatile acquisition applications and future diagnostics.

Improved parallel implementation of the two-dimensional Ising model

Some simulations we would like to perform in computational physics require so much computation time that it is not possible to finish them in reasonable length of time on any nowadays available computer. If it is possible to decompose a compute intensive problem into smaller independent tasks one possibility is to shorten the calculation time is to apply a parallel algorithm. Java, a platform independent programming language changed the way of software design by using Jini and JavaSpaces, new technologies that have been introduced recently. By applying JavaSpaces, a virtual, network accessible space can be used to store Java objects but also for effective parallel processing. In this paper, we report a novel, parallel implementation of the two-dimensional Ising model using the JavaSpaces technology. Our new approach was implemented on standard computer equipment and results in significant improvement of computation time.

ZPL: a machine independent programming language for parallel computers

The goal of producing architecture-independent parallel programs is complicated by the competing need for high performance. The ZPL programming language achieves both goals by building upon an abstract parallel machine and by providing programming constructs that allow the programmer to "see" this underlying machine. This paper describes ZPL and provides a comprehensive evaluation of the language with respect to its goals of performance, portability, and programming convenience. In particular, we describe ZPt's machine-independent performance model, describe the programming benefits of ZPL's region-based constructs, summarize the compilation benefits of the language's high-level semantics, and summarize empirical evidence that ZPL has achieved both high performance and portability on diverse machines such as the IBM SP-2, Cray T3E, and SGI Power Challenge.

An object-oriented environment for robot system architectures

The object-oriented Robot Independent Programming Environment (RIPE), which is being used for the rapid design and implementation of a variety of applications, is described. A system architecture based on hierarchies of distributed multiprocessors provides the computing platform for a layered programming structure that models the application as a set of software objects. These objects are designed to support model-based automated planning and programming, real-time sensor-based activity, error handling, and robust communication. The object-oriented paradigm provides mechanisms such as inheritance and polymorphism which allow the implementation of the system to satisfy the goals of software reusability, extensibility, reliability, and portability. Designing a hierarchy of generic parent classes and device-specific subclasses which inherit the same interface allows a Robot Independent Programming Language (RIPL) to be realized. Workcell tasks demonstrating robot cask handling operations for nuclear waste facilities, which are successfully implemented using this object-oriented software environment, are discussed. >

Ellie language definition report

This report defines the parallel object-oriented language Ellie in details by means of informal definitions and examples. The syntax of Ellie is defined by a grammar. Ellie has been designed as a part of my Ph.D. thesis.The goals of Ellie are to achieve machine independent parallel programming and great language flexibility. Machine independent parallel programming is achieved by allowing the programmer to have a huge number of small processes for a virtual distributed memory parallel computer. If an actual distributed parallel computer can not execute the huge number of processes efficiently then a compiler can combine small processes hereby reducing the number of processes.Great language flexibility is achieved by allowing definitions of new types and control structures and by using a non-strict type system. Ellie is meant as an all-purpose programming language that has the flexibility of languages like Smalltalk and Lisp without losing efficiency in numerical calculations etc.

An architecture independent programming language for low-level vision

Low-level vision is particularly amenable to implementation on parallel architectures, which offer an enormous speedup at this level. To take advantage of this, the algorithm must be adapted to the particular parallel architecture. Having to adapt programs in this way poses a significant barrier to the vision programmer, who must learn and practice a different method of parallelization for each different parallel machine. There is also no possibility of portability for programs written for a particular parallel architecture. We have developed a specialized programming language, called Apply, which reduces the problem of writing the algorithm for this class of programs to the task of writing the function to be applied to a window around a single pixel. Apply provides a method for programming these applications which is easy, consistent, and efficient. Apply is programming model specific—it implements the input partitioning model—but is architecture independent. It is possible to implement versions of Apply which run efficiently on a wide variety of computers. We describe implementations of Apply on Warp, various Warp-like architectures, unix , and the Hughes HBA and sketch implementations on bit-serial processor arrays and distributed memory machines.

Implementation independent arithmetic: Speculation for discussion

AbstractThe specification of a truly portable implementation independent programming language requires that digital arithmetic be specified in an implementation independent manner.Variable length storage is proposed for digital numbers. Linked storage and linked overflow storage are proposed so as to enable the use of variable length numbers. It is suggested that significant digit arithmetic be used for single numbers and interval arithmetic be used for interval pairs. The question is put to numerical mathematicians to specify the decision rules to be used in deciding on the number of digits to be retained when computing in either the significant digit mode or in the interval mode. The question is also raised as to what other arithmetic modes should be provided for.The speculation is offered not for the purposes of suggesting useful hardware design techniques but rather to indicate feasibility of some design. If the implementation independent arithmetic is considered feasible, then language designers can design a language freed from present hardware restrictions.

On the design of machine independent programming languages

Publisher Summary This chapter discusses programming languages that, like ALGOL 60, are intended for the description of numerical processes. There are two declarations in ALGOL 60 with a hybrid nature, the switch declaration and the procedure declaration. Like all declarations, they reserve an identifier for a special sort of object but, they immediately define this object and do so statically. In this respect, they are comparable to the so-called constant declaration, which has been suggested for numerical quantities. It is known that by replacing static definitions by dynamic ones, one can only gain in flexibility. Furthermore, ALGOL 60 includes the assignment statement that assigns a value dynamically but only in the case that the value is a logical value or a number. By extending the concept assignment of a value so that lists, statements, etc., can also act as assigned values, the value-defining function of the switch and procedure declaration can be removed. The declarators switch and procedure should then only be followed by a list of identifiers, to which suitable assignments should eventually be made.

Jovial—a programming language for real-time command systems

Publisher Summary This chapter describes a programming language named JOVIAL for real-time command systems. JOVIAL is a relatively computer independent programming language. The various JOVIAL compilers consist of a pair of subprograms performing two separate and distinct transformations. The first consists largely of codifying the data descriptions and determining sequences of elementary operations that realize the algorithms described in the JOVIAL statements of the source program. This first transformation, as embodied in a JOVIAL program known as the Generator, is entirely machine independent in both form and function. The Generator produces as its output an Intermediate Language (IL), also machine independent, which serves as a limited sort of Universal Computer Oriented Language. A source program translated from JOVIAL to IL by the Generator is then translated from IL into a machine-oriented assembly language during the second transformation by a program known, simply, as the Translator.’ The Translator is machine independent in its JOVIAL form but, of course, machine dependent in function.
